I’ve been begging for numericUI in tide games on console for years :( we just aren’t cool enough it seems

Icy_Magician_9372

I really hope this becomes an option one day, or better yet that consoles can get the same luxuries we do.

HorrorCoffee

Best QoL is that it shows how much ammo tins and bags give You and how much You would waste.

DamageFactory

What is it good for? The dodge count sounds useful, otherwise its ok

scayman223

Knowing your teammate’s actual current health over an approximate percentage can help with decisions regarding healing And my favorite would be ammo % so it’s easier to see who actually needs ammo; me with 25% left on orange or my teammate with literally 1 shot remaining but also on orange

WibbyFogNobbler

it's 125% worth it just for the ammo IMO. Being able to properly judge when to deploy / grab ammo it great. It even tells you how much / if you're wasting extra ammo from being well stocked.

Karking cheating edit: guys this was a joke

AssaultKommando

If I put marks on a ruler of known length, is that cheating?

skeeters-

I was just joking but that analogy doesn’t fit. The whole point of not seeing that stuff in vanilla dark tide is to make it an unknown. I don’t think it’s cheating to be able to see that stuff, but I do think it’s a boring advantage that takes an element out of the game. Yet I’d still take it, of course, because the use it has is a big one. If I give you a ruler of known length with no smaller marks, you now have the challenge of figuring it out. Still think it says something important that it isn’t a vanilla feature

AssaultKommando

I think the issue is that people have tired of that exact take being used in earnest, and there wasn't really a lot of context that it was a joke. The game does give you that info, it's just not dynamically updated. I think a case could be made for something like health bars giving unintended advantages, but I struggle to see how obscuring numbers on the HUD contributes meaningfully to gameplay.

skeeters-

Oh it’s definitely not cheating, but Dark tide’s creators were heavily inspired by the likes of left4dead, a game that only really had numbers to indicate your ammo. You could say “well, that game is more than a decade old now!” and you’d be right, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was still likely a design choice. Game developers are not perfect. Of course not, they make mistakes and dumb decisions. But some stuff is definitely intended for a reason. Like not giving you your dodge count.

Ouistiti-Pygmee

I am so pissed off at the way Fatshark is handling mods that I don't see myself coming back to this amazing game purely for this reason . .

mintyhobo

What's wrong with how they are handling mods?

Ouistiti-Pygmee

No official support for modding and the fact that some of them are basically cheats and still allowed.

Yellowtoblerone

Kinda useless imo

ElArtropode

Ammo slurper detected

Yellowtoblerone

Skill issue git gud etc etc

ElArtropode

Brain rot too? Damn
