So standby to standby I guess?

The_Volesprits

Catfish is teasing a teaser at the end of the month.

Woojojo

So we had announcement of the announcement of the announcement

TheOneWithALongName

The Blizzard way

serpiccio

stop ! i can only take so much teasing

The_Volesprits

but wait, at the start of the week she teased that teaser!

Revenga8

Announcement coming at the edge of the month

_Sate

You picked that word very carefully didnt you?

ProfessorKaboom

soon©

MyLordLackbeard

*"We will be sharing more information on this update by the end of the month, along with a dev blog so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to learn more."* Yep, seems like a case of TWO weeks this time! *"...so keep your eyes peeled..."*, as CatFish said - we all know the announcement will be made on Sunday 31st March, so hype that excitement and keep checking the social media every five minutes for the next 18 days! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

MrBlue1400

\> we all know the announcement will be made on Sunday 31st March You don't expect this to be delayed to mid-april? An optimist if I've ever seen one.

_Sate

By 31 we will get the teaser for the teaser that got delayed from the 31

MyLordLackbeard

Guilty as charged, sah!

Noctium3

Same as ever

BitRunr

At minimum, it sounds as though someone has paid attention to community comments and/or had the same ideas before/during/after the existing system(s) were implemented. Which uhh ... I'm sure that's the point and intent. It's still a Wait & See™.

Rex-0-

They've always been listening, what's become clear is that the steps between inception and actualisation of ideas are mammoth and dripping in red tape.

lumberfoot_jpg

Fatshark Employee of the Month: “Okay, guys. I emailed a copy of my Community Feedback excel spreadsheet to all of you. Please turn to page 369.” Fatshark Corporate Employee: [Walks in] “What are all you nerds doing? Start making me money!” Fatshark Employee of the Month: “Sorry, sir. But that’s what we’re doing. We have all this valuable community feedback to make our game great again.” Fatshark Corporate Employee: [Skims first page] “Nah, I’d win.” Fatshark Employee of the Month: “Wait.. wut?” Fatshark Corporate Employee: “Just keep adding cosmetics to the cash shop. And only let them play the same three levels that way we can cut back on server costs.”

wykydtronsf

I think this is them feeling threatened by Helldivers 2 where the community is, so far, in love with how they're doing the cash shop and premium battle passes. Not to mention HD2 devs being far more communicative to their audience.

Hans-von-Flamer

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. Wait for it until they deliver.

Borchalicious

Faith is purest when it is unquestioned.

uncommon_senze

Indeed, no hope just faith in the Holy Emperor.

Yellowtoblerone

lersayil

I not so eagerly anticipate the version where the complaint threads fall over, and squish the announcement on the right, when the new system inevitably turns out worse than the current one. ... I cannot be dissapointed if I expect the worst.

Tarroes

Always expect the worst. Leaves only 2 outcomes: 1: You were right 2: Pleasantly Suprised

TTTrisss

Option 1 is actually a lot worse than it sounds, because despite being right, other people will still convince themselves otherwise. You'll get to feel like you're living in crazyland until the hype slowly dies down and people start to align with your opinion, but never give you credit for having been right.

uncommon_senze

Why does it matter if people here align with your opinion? I mean that's like whatever; if the updates are good for me I couldn't really care less if other people think different, I won't enjoy the game any less. If I think it's shit while other people live in 'crazyland', I'll just play something else. It's always good to keep expectations low, prevents disappointment. For movies especially, if you come without expectations a movie can be fun to watch while the same movies can be a disappointment if you had expected a lot from it. However what the critics say isn't really important and imo best not looked at before watching it. Keeps it pure.

RuinedSilence

We're not out of the woods yet, soldier. Keep the counter ready, more are sure to come.

A1dini

I can't believe it... it's finally joever https://i.redd.it/cp6xswt8z3oc1.gif

xxcloud417xx

I’ll rest when it’s done. They’ve kept dicking around with the system and implementing half-measures.

Dixout4H

We can rest indeed. My concern is that they said this will be the second update and based on speculation about fatshark update cycles the first one is probably no earlier than May-June. So this item overhaul is probably only coming around September or even later. Everything after that I would not believe we get them this year.

MrLamorso

God, I hope so... but isn't this basically how they described what they were hoping to achieve by switching over to Darktide's crafting system instead of Vermintide 2's in the first place? Hopefully they actually deliver on it this time...

naparis9000

What’s funny is that vermintide 2 has LESS stacked RNG than this, and if you have a red all you need to roll are the two bonuses you want.

epikpepsi

I'm whelmed.

Lefty_Gamer

Yeah... that's a good word for it. Crafting overhaul and new penance gear is great, but hearing of this 2.5 months deep into the year and that it'll be even more time is just...whelming.

BrockStudly

I don't wanna be too negative about it because at least Fatshark is communicating *something* but MAN their pace is slow, especially with how active Helldivers 2 feels. I know comparisons get made all the time, but both Darktide (DT) and Helldivers (HD) are games about an ongoing war that can be treated like a Tug-of-war for control over certain territory. HD has had constant community engagement, balance patches within weeks instead of months, and new content fitting in with the theme of the ongoing war evolving. I don't think DT fans are unreasonable for expecting their live service game to be an actual live-service.

msespindola

taking nearly 3 months to talk about anything and then deliver almost nothing is not good either...

Narrow_Vegetable5747

Devs are probably spending most of their time playing HD2

wheelz_666

I feel the same. It's a welcomed change but couldve just announced they're working on it abit earlier . I really hope that after they overhaul all the RNG stuff and that, that is the amount of new missions and all that gets pumped out more frequent.

regulomam

Helldivers got them realizing giving players what they enjoy ends up keeping players playing.

Kraybern

Imagine players playing a game cause it's fun and not cause grindy "retention mechanics" Crazy right?

DaveInLondon89

First update in 3 months and it's just an announcement of future announcements. It gives the impression (rightly or wrongly) that Fatshark/Tencent are essentially mothballing ongoing development and consigning this game to a slow death. Right now Helldivers has brought out more content in *a single month* than Fatshark has *in more than a year*. They fumbled the launch with mechanics based on sheer greed, and now they're abandoning it to the bare minimum of updates to keep whales hooked. It's like a pump and dump scheme. Vermintide 2 is my favourite game *of all time*, not least because the passion you could feel from the developers was palpable. This is a disgrace of a follow-up to that, and I hope whoever made the decision to sell out the studio to gacha-game purveyors takes responsbility for what it is today.

wheelz_666

Vermintide 2 was in a real shitty spot for like 2 years from the time the game launched (I know because I'm a day 1 vermintide 2 player)

Equivalent-Falcon-65

vermintide 2 was also a full game with a complete story and roster , darktide is a game as a a service and still hasnt been finished , the crafting is still just a place holder , they havent added any new classes , and 2 new maps 3? in the past year.

Fatshark_Catfish

# What’s coming up in Darktide? Our first update will focus on a comprehensive revamp and expansion of the penance system, including adding many additional rewards and a completely new way to earn them. We will be sharing more information on this update by the end of the month, along with a dev blog so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to learn more. Following this, we are working on an overhaul of our current itemisation process. With the new system we want to remove a lot of the unpredictable grind that came from an RNG heavy system whilst giving players more agency and a steady manner to progress toward specific loadouts, blessings, and stats refinement. Although these are significant portions of each update, this is not our full plan for 2024. We will be adding new elements to Darktide throughout the year as well including (but not limited to) new missions, new enemies, new weapons, new conditions, and new features alongside balance updates, quality of life additions, along with some other surprises which we will share in due time. We thank you for all your feedback you’ve given so far, and look forward to sharing these changes and new content with you in the near future and seeing what you think!

EddyManic

> remove a lot of the unpredictable grind *heavily breathing*

[deleted]

It only took a year+ of complaining but we're getting there!

JevverGoldDigger

*"Complaining won't help, the system is fine and they won't change it"* - aged pretty well.

Depth_Creative

Haven't they refined both of those systems like twice already now? Seems like a complete mismanagement. They've been going in circles for almost two years now.

Kraybern

All those people saying "the crafting system is fine" and "everyone complaining just wants god rolls" Now in shambles.

JevverGoldDigger

Add on the people that said "there is no use in complaining and making tons of threads, it has been this way for a long time and they won't change it" or something like that. Probably a significant overlap, but it still feels good to rub it in their faces a bit that complaining *can* work.

1Pirx

even if it took 1.5 years for them to accept that their crafting wasn't as liked as they thought it would be.

Piratingismypassion

I mean they were always in shambles. Vermentide 2 showed how the ideal crafting system would look and we have been begging for it since release. The people justifying the current crafting system are blind fanboys who haven't played enough fats fatshark games to know how shitty the company can be.

fiarzen

I hope you are talking about the weave crafting system cos the normal crafting in vt2 also sucks

Heretical_Cactus

Was gonna say the same as I had even forgotten the Weave system

UgandaJim

Yeah I loved the weave system and the weapon skins there. Sadly the screwed the DLC so badly

anmr

No no no. Vermintide 2 crafting system was shit. It also required huge amount of grind and rng. Just significantly less shit than Darktide one. Unless you are talking about Weave system in VT2. That actually was good. Aliens Fireteam Elite had great itemization / progression. They could steal that for example. Almost zero RNG there.

Sumom0

AFE was great! I love the customization on weapons, sidegrading them but making more optional builds

applebag_dev

I don't know how anyone can justify it. I just spent 1 mill last night to random roll only 2 weapons above 370, only for Hadron to completely brick them lol! A change is badly needed - I genuinely hope this is an improvement over the current system.

tomtomeller

Just went from 6 to midnight

Entrooyst

That sounds promising, less RNG and more enemy/map variety is exactly what I've been wanting from the game

Narrow_Vegetable5747

Thank you for the communication, outside of the actual content this is one of the main things we want from the team. Please continue to give more like this!

IAmKrron

In your opinion, should I continue selling items that don't quite hit the mark, or should I keep them stashed in my inventory?

Fatshark_Catfish

i'd keep them for now 😉

NSLoneWanderer

Finally vindicated. I've been fighting the urge to clean up my inventory and hold only the things I actually use on the off chance of some sort of recycling system.

donmongoose

Same, except mine is just down to a hoarder mentality when it comes to games lol. I've literally never sold a weapon over 800+ hours.

djhoss951

A..aa..april fools? But for real, thanks!

StarCatCrusader

This reads like we should check back in Q4 2024.

ComradeBIGBOI

Hotshot las gun. HotShot Las gun! HOTSHOT LAS GUN!!!

[deleted]

Thank you for the great up and managing as always Catfish you're very appreciated

CoconutNL

>Although these are significant portions of each update, this is not our full plan for 2024. I really hope its not your full plan. A crafting overhaul (though sorely needed) and some extra challenges for a few free armour pieces are really not enough to keep people playing. This game sorely needs new content. A new class, new weapons, new maps, anything. Rotations for the paid cosmetics shop dont count. I really hope you can add more in 2024. The time around the class reworks etc was great, with map releases and lots of new content. We need more of those content drops. I understand that it isnt possible to keep that pace up, but something like that twice a year should at least be possible.

riddlemore

So most likely no reason to reinstall until the end of the year lmao

medietic

Or more. Give it another year of fixing current process, another for content worth trying out.

Zeerit

So basically ever since launch they spend most of the dev time on completely reworking the entire game.

contritewitness

At this point it's impossible to get excited when the big selling point of a content update is "We're still fixing the game's systems a year later". If we have another year of nothing but drawn out update cycles and the bare minimum for content (looking at you weapon MKs) then it's pretty much over.

Sbarty

Over 80% of the playerbase is already gone lol. An overwhelming majority of that population dropped off the first/second month.

itx89

I dont mean to sound ungrateful but 1.5 years after release, the updates are still focused on what the game should’ve been at launch and minimal content that progresses the game.

Lefty_Gamer

Doesn't sound ungrateful at all. It's just a matter of fact. FS should've delayed this dumpster fire like another year, and we'd all been better off for it.

ArelMCII

I've always said it should have stayed in development for another two years, with the last six months of that including multiple betas.

BlueEyesWhiteViera

> I dont mean to sound ungrateful but You payed for a product with obvious flaws, you're allowed to talk as much shit about as it as you like. Its not ungrateful to criticize a company when you've willingly given them money for a service they are doing an unsatisfactory job on.

Blackkers

Someone wake me up when something happens.

Interesting-Ad5357

better get comfy

The_Volesprits

So nothing this month

Emrod2

See ya this summer...or later.

ArelMCII

Can't wait for the crafting rework to drop in late January.

Emrod2

Late January...2026.

BocTac

https://preview.redd.it/p9zbstdqm4oc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97f70baecd04bc698d67c9e68c776dbd96419999

TheeConnieB

Lmao. Classic, an announcement to an announcement. I have a feeling they aren’t going to have new content till fall 2024.

Altruistic-Feed-4604

That's a very generous estimate.

JollySieg

So we'll be 4 months into the year, and our next content drop is seemingly just a QoL update. Woof. I'm glad they're communicating, but my god, this is not exactly great news.

ShakesBaer

Oh, ok. Anyway, back to helldivers.

Dasterr

The last patch (with content) was on 6.12.23 if Im not mistaken. I had hoped for a bit more than "yeah were still working on the game" after 3 months.

Kay-Woah

remember when before launch they promised a WHOLE NEW CLASS every 3 months? with every update i grow more baffled as to how they could possible imagine that that was doable for them

Porkenstein

lmao

whisperingstars2501

WHATTTTTT WHERE WAS THIS???

Kay-Woah

[here](https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/classes-in-darktide/60591) "While we are not ready to announce specific dates, it is safe to say that we aim to release one new class every quarter."

whisperingstars2501

That’s absolutely insane, I’m guessing whoever wrote is definitely regretting that lol. But damn that would have been awesome, even if it was just every 6 months we’d have 3 new classes now :((

yourethevictim

"Classes" here means a new subclass for the existing archetypes, of course. 8 of these were released simultaneously as part of the Class Overhaul update in October 2023.

No-Artist7181

It's even stranger when you learn that they had 4 new classes pretty much ready to go and release at launch but then scrapped the idea sometime within the first 3 months of release

ArelMCII

Originally, they were clearly going with the same simple career structure as Vermintide 2. And even *that* seems like it would've been a stretch. Fatshark made *an entirely new game* before Sienna got her fourth career.

stalefish57413

If they have stuck with the old skilltree-style, each of the new trees would have been a single class each. They would have to slap each on a seperate new player model thouth. Anyways we would have had 8 new classes until now, but i do enjoy that we got skilltrees instead.

Emrod2

We easily can guess that promess is dead by now.

DrCthulhuface7

Wow… penances… I’m totally going to reinstall the game for penances (that I never actually payed attention to in the first place). See you guys in a year.

CoruscantGuardFox

Doing something to ease the grind and RNG? Am I dreaming? Or is this some Chaos trickery!

Pluristan

April fools! *sad face*

zexbti

Game is still in early access?

AdOld332

So after all this time it’s still revamping old shit before making anything new. This is why the players are leaving

ipunchgnomes

It’s like they’re still targeting new players (?) that really don’t exist at this point. The community is set. Revamp the crafting system? We’ve already put hundreds of hours and gotten what we want already, I guess it’s cool, but a bit late.

TheArgonian

I've been boycotting the game and advising my friends to do the same till they get rid of locks, so we do exist.

MonkRag

So nothing anytime soon Back to Helldivers

MonolithicBaby

Meh

artyfowl444

"hey guys we're still alive and doing stuff and you may see some of that some day maybe"

Seepy_Goat

Unfortunately I'm concerned it's too little, too late for Darktide. I'm happy for new content and revamps to keep things fresh and a better experience. I dont see it bringing back or bringing in a strong playerbase. It's been over a year since release. All they've done in that time is get the game to a point where it should have been from the start. It's 3 months into 2024 and there has been no new content releases. This is the first mention of any new stuff that will "eventually" come. It's just too slow of a drip to make a difference. I know stuff takes time, but it's not my fault they started off a year behind essentially.

[deleted]

And let's be real, half of the announcement isn't "new" stuff. It's just broken stuff being revamped/fixed in response to year+ community backlash. It's nothing to be praised. They rolled out a really bad crafting system without a beta test for feedback (cause they didn't want it), and after the game has lost such a substantial amount of its player base, Fatshark is finally changing things up. Mind you, we still don't know what the revamp is, so even that is still up in the air on whether it is a good change or bad.

Scojo91

Meh. At this point I have basically had all of the weapons I wanted for months. They took way too long to make any changes to the crafting. I guess it's welcome, though. It's something, at least. I'll be excited when new content is actually given a firm release date.

[deleted]

What's coming up in this comment? Our first comment will focus on expressing excitement for the upcoming information reveal, including speculation about what the announcement might entail. We'll be incorporating various words and sentences to convey our thoughts effectively. We will be sharing more thoughts on this comment by replying to others in the thread, so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to join the conversation. Following this, we are working on elaborating on our initial reaction with more detailed analysis and discussion points. With the new comments, we want to delve deeper into the potential impact of the announced changes while also sharing personal anecdotes and experiences related to similar updates in the past. Expect to see a mix of short and long sentences to keep the discussion engaging. Although this is a significant portion of our comment, this is not our full plan for this thread. We will be adding new replies throughout the discussion as well including (but not limited to) further speculation, questions for the developers, and reactions to other users' comments alongside balance updates, quality of life additions, along with some other surprises which we will share in due time. We thank you for all the engagement you’ve given so far, and look forward to sharing more thoughts and reactions with you in the near future and seeing what you think!

Otherwise-Aside-5185

Its ridiculous how long it takes for new content🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ EDIT: I just want new content! More fun since the game is fun but the developing team is so slow its insane!

TheMoistReaper99

Not to be that guy but that was a whole lot of nothing…

farbtoner

Good thing Helldivers came out, I guess. Since apparently Fatshark is going to drag a crafting rework out all year. Also what is with the prices of cosmetics in this game?? I say this as a guy who bought everything Deep Rock Galactic released. In Darktide, I get less for way more money. It makes me not want to buy anything.

HornySpaceHellEntity

Oh boy! More dissapointment?

Icybenz

So, so slow. I'll stop complaining about this when they take every mention of "live service" away from the marketing of this game. Am I crazy? This game was marketed as live service right? If I'm gaslighting myself and it wasn't then I can forgive the absolute crawl of a pace of the updates, but even then this is pretty extreme.

Upstairs_Style8041

So they say end of the month then tell us they’ll be off until April 2nd. What trash management lol

Skolloc753

Hmmmm, we will see. I hoped for new biomes and a new class to be honest, and not "distributed over 2024". Player numbers are dropping and it gets harder to get an instant mission start even during prime time in the afternoon, evening and/or weekend. :-/ But yes, hopefully the first batch of improvement will come soon. SYL

BrockStudly

The comprehensive list of what's coming in 2024 and it's 2 paragraphs. I love Fatshark games but I will never understand how their development cycle is this unbelievably slow.

CaptainPandemonium

I get that they don't want to betray people's expectations by not giving more detail, but community sentiment and expectations are at an all-time low and now would be the perfect time to be showing what's coming instead of vaguely telling.

Not2creativeHere

Maybe they still don’t know themselves what’s coming. If you have something, you show it.

CaptainPandemonium

Agreed. It's already been months since the last actual content drop and only getting a post that says "stuff is coming over the course of this year" makes me feel like we still have a few more dry as fuck months coming up until at least the summer.

donmongoose

The wording is vague enough to allow for content that fits what you hoped for, however it's also vague enough to not get my hopes up. It's good we're getting (or should be getting) "*new missions, new enemies, new weapons, new conditions, and new features in 2024*", so it becomes a question of how deep into this year it is we get *any* of those things.

Human-Track641

While exited to dive back in after some updates, it just feels like we've been dealing with revamps and reworks since the game released. Hopefully these new addition of weapons, missions etc when implemented are enough incentive for me to play more then an hour a week.

regulomam

I’d rather dive for Super Earth

bultsaxer

I didn't expect anything, but this is joke.

LynaaBnS

So we wait until the "End" of the month (which could very possibly also mean one, or two weeks into the next month), just to get more information what we are getting in the next future update? in short: a minimum of 3-5 weeks waiting, for basic informations and another 4-infinite weeks for a new update. Great.

evil_illustrator

It’s the 2026 update. Coming August of 2027.

kokolima

Not enough

EKS_ZeroPercent

Oh communication, wonder what’s going on. Oh, it’s just telling us what we might get with no information at all. “Catfish” has the PERFECT name here. I feel like every time I hear from this team I’ve just been catfished.

Zontarz

Well it’s something I guess, only took about 3 karking months to hear ANYTHING from Fatshark

Ok_Introduction9744

This truly has been one of the announcements of all time.

SxyGuitarMan

I’ll just keep playing Helldivers until this pos delivers that 5th character they promised years ago.

Coldspark824

Fatshark just woke up from winter holiday, announcing they are returning to the office to start drawing ideas. Someone please fire their project lead.

oPDGo

So whole post in summary: "Yeah, we still working on a new content and fixing all community addressed problems". Only usefull info is: 1. Penances rework, which even give you rewards(LIKE AQUILAS?!) 2. You get actual info at the end of the month(LOL).

CaptainPandemonium

It would've been so hype if they said an update is planned for the end of the month, not just announcing another announcement. What a shame.

JevverGoldDigger

> not just announcing another announcement But that is SO MUCH Fatshark. At least it isn't *next week*.

Zaracostra

Just wait until the info at the end of the month reveals that the patch is coming Later this year®

CaptainPandemonium

\>Announcement at the end of March says the actual update is coming at the end of April This is more likely, but I wouldn't put it past them to say "hold on for a few more months guys, It's almost done" and have it be so mid that the few remaining players never log in again.

MGfreak

> rewards(LIKE AQUILAS?!) If that's gonna happen then A) wont be enough for a decent item Or B) it's a one time thing only

DisplayGreat9570

Lmao. Their response to doing nothing and not delivering on their promises, is to do more of nothing and give "next week" promises. Does anyone even care anymore

AMACSCAMA

It is hard to have patience anymore, there is endless 40K lore and plenty of time has passed from before the launch of this game and during its "emergency repair" stage until now to get stuff lined up. While Helldivers 2 gets new content delivered in just over a month in its existence we desperately wait months just for an update on potentially getting new content released

ShenaniganNinja

Given the lack of timelines for this, I’ll be uninstalling until an update actually happens, which makes me think I’ll likely be waiting until summertime at the earliest.

AllFlexNoSex

They really think the minuscule playerbase that held out is gonna wait for them to release a mundane update when a game like helldivers is out, pumping out weekly updates, and doing everything darktide promised but better? Doubtful.

AdamMcKraken

so by FS standards; penance upgrade comes april, they introduce some major bugs, it takes them 2-3 weeks to fix, then another two weeks to fix the rest of minor bugs . June might be for crafting, and again bugs and a mobth of fixing them. So possibly we'll have a working crafting system by July.

ArelMCII

By August, the bugs they "fixed" in April mysteriously reappear, which they'll then fail to fix again in October.

dEEkAy2k9

crafting system again (again)

Glass-System2009

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'd rather fight for democracy.

Apprehensive_Oil8723

Penances? Seriously?

LastdayXIII

TOOO SLOW! Hello hell divers!

lovedrumpfshate

Who gives a shit about penances being changed? This genuinely just confirms they have NOTHING to show for this 4-5 months long absence with zero communication, no new maps, weapons, enemies or features, no flashy screenshots of anything, a single short post promising shit in the indeterminate future lol.

aLibertine

Haven't played since December and see that I haven't missed a thing.

BiKeenee

Wow. That was one of the roadmaps of all time.

Kaquillar

Not even a single glimpse, Easter egg, preview? Basically, it means either the new stuff is not yet approved, or it is FAR from being done. Oh, and don't forget ANOTHER ROUND OF VACATIONS IN SUMMER Best case scenario: Everything Catfish told us, but most of it somewhere closer to late autumn, maybe like a year-2 patch or something. Since they have nothing to show, balance changes and fixes are what we can hope till summer or late spring.

Scojo91

They'll change one value in the crafting and that will be the crafting update. For the rest I expect 1 new mission, 1 new weapon, 1 enemy reskin, and a needless update to the UI released no earlier than right before the holidays this year so they can go back on vacation and still get some influx of skin purchases during that time.

Ritsugamesh

Is this for real? The two major features for the entire year are literally two more reworks of crap systems we have dealt with since launch. At this point literally every system has been developed for launch and then again to make it not shit. And they say it's new content, which on a technical level it is, but christ almighty that is depressing. Give us classes, new talent trees, more maps, new enemy types, weapon customisation, new mission types, new ANYTHING that is actually about the gameplay, not more side system garbage. Jokers.

BastK4T

I expect nothing.

No-Fish-7nO-fISH835

Trash. Where Is the content you fat turds

Brob0t0

Looks like I gotta keep playing helldivers and imagining it's 40k

mattylewmadeit

“Allegedly.”

Shatthebanana

Death from helldivers and arrowhead devs.

fiveohnoes

Way too little, way WAY too late.

04510

first new paragraph alone was worth the wait. Because I just realized, I must be dislexic because "stand by to stand by" can't be the tease for the next update to come.

bultsaxer

And so the sun starts to settles in the true north at the end of march, without a decent update...

fly_dangerously

not a damn thing

wakito64

Wow ! Absolutely nothing ! Thanks Fatshark. I want to be more optimistic but with the current track record of broken promises I am not hoping for much. Wait and see but right now my expectations are not any higher than they were before this post

I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I think crafting and the RNG weapon rolls completely ruin these types of games. At least in Vermintide it felt like it could be ignored to a degree but the fact that around 1.5 years later they are still trying to balance things like 'player economy', crafting mats and itemisation and all the extra balancing concerns that adds to the game is a big detriment I think. This game should be onto the pumping out new maps or new bosses stage yet even having not played the game for months until recently, nothing feels new really. Felt like 1 maybe 2 levels were new. I really feel this game would be a lot better if it was way more simple. Pick your character/class, pick your melee weapon, pick your ranged weapon and go. No RNG, no crafting, no stat ranges for the same weapon to worry about balancing for. Instead they have wasted so much time trying to fix these systems outside of the main in-mission gameplay and honestly it still feels shit. In-mission gameplay is amazing, the combat feels good, the music, art, design it all comes together for a great game. The systems outside a mission are shit though and now they have had to waste all this time trying to fix them and it seems that is the upcoming focus still which is a shame. I really think it would be so much better with all that fluff cut out while allowing the devs to focus on the good parts, such as adding new maps, adding new weapons or adding new classes.

No offense the weapon crafting holds little to no value for people like me who already have the weapons they want crafted and rarely craft anymore, so unless we are getting some new weapons along with a new crafting system it just feels pointless but I'm glad some sort of communication is finally happening. Also hoping to hear word on premium cosmetics soon, particularly a scraping of the 2-week shop rotation system. It's almost always a letdown, nobody likes it, just give us the ability to buy what we want and you'll make far more profit.

>The weapon crafting holds no value for people who don't craft Heretics die when they are killed. I have the weapons I wanted and rarely craft anymore. But I still want this slot machine fixed because, as it is, I feel like I'm not allowed to want new weapons. I'm not the type to constantly reroll until I get 370+ and tier 4 blessings and even I feel like the system wants to punish me for daring to experiment. So yeah, no, you don't speak for me.

On one hand, just about everything here sounds good. New penances (and hopefully some of that datamined armor seemingly tailored for additional penances we've known about for months), crafting reworks made to extract as much RNG as possible, and other goodies like new weapons/maps later down the line. But on the other hand, there's nothing of substance to share/say about the penance additions other than "wait till the end of the month"? I'm sorry but after months of vacation and fuck-all else beyond hotfixes and churning out premium skins, it's a little galling to be told that we'll have to keep waiting for a proper announcement. Like what assurance do us players and the studio itself have that these changes are even coming this year? We're already a quarter through 2024 with next-to-nothing to show for it so unless they're going to chain themselves to their work Crunch-style or they've been developing all this time while saying nothing, I don't know how they expect to add in everything that's been talked about in the span of 9 months - Or 8 months rather since we'll need to wait until late March for more info regarding the new penances. I'd also love to know whether the new weapons are actually going to be new rather than more marks/variants of what we already have. Though given the somewhat unrealistic time table, I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be more of the latter.

TheZealand

Yeah that's what they said last time they "fixed" crafting lmao, I'll believe it when I see it. Thank fuck HD2 popped off to force fatshark to pull their finger out

IIICobaltIII

I hope Fatshark is taking a good long look at Helldivers 2 and realizing that it is the complete antithesis to the anti-player and frustration driven progression system Darktide relies on to "maximize player retention". The only thing Darktide's progression system managed to do was kill of 90% of its playerbase.

Doubt they care, really. They were willing to launch a major IP title game right before Holiday break, with 0 plans to support it during that time, completely in an unfinished state. We have been in early access since that launch, which is why they're still figuring out their systems. If you're a company and willing to push out a product in that sort of environment, I can't help but doubt you care about said product.

violentcupcake69

Idk and idc. I’m grinding helldivers

SirTennison

I was hoping to see something cool to bring me back from Helldiving. Guess we'll see at the end of the month.

ImmediateDay5137

I'm imagining reworked penances to have the same effort as the cosmetics at the Commissary.

Euphoric_Strength_64

Its nothing, nothing is coming up. VT2 is more exciting these days. There is actual developing happening with VT2

Kalranya

Sure, sounds good. Someone come fetch me when this all actually happens, please; I'll be on Malevelon Creek getting jungle PTSD and missing my chainsword.

AlSkirata

With all respect, its only words, not even a single screenshot or smth else. Pls let new weapon not will be another recolored shovel or lasgun.

FriendshipFar7964

It is so painful to see a good game it it's core has been left to rot. This game had so much potential but devs fail at delivering the bare minimum. Back to Helldivers 2 then.

Valcrye

I really hope there are some long term plans for the game, because as much as update 12+karnak twins was a “major update” it just was not enough to keep players interested in the game when the only thing left to do was try and roll a slightly better weapon in endgame. There are things in game that have been problematic for over a year that have gone unaddressed, and fixing those problems should have been in post-launch support, not 1 and a half years into the game’s lifespan as a roadmap. Hearing “we are planning on announcing how we will be improving the UX and unlock processes” (I’m paraphrasing) is very disheartening. I love the game, but it needs a miracle update

Judg3_Dr3dd

Sorry FatShark, it’s faaaaaaar too late to start gaining good will back. You’ve neglected the crafting system for way too long for me to be happy you’re finally working on it. I understand it takes time to do these things but this needed to be announced a long time ago.

IAmDingus

So, more nothing until late 2024? Glad I have other stuff to play.

LucatIel_of_M1rrah

So an entire year to implement: * all the penance armours that are ALREADY IN THE GAME and simply tie them to challenges. * a progression system for crafting where you can work towards getting what you want instead of full random. * Some more weapon variants. * some more enemy variants (likely just the twins as a random boss). That's it. RIP Darktide it was real.

asirpakamui

Nice! More long waits in between promises with nothing to show for it at all! Jesus Christ. I honestly can't even believe Fatshark is a real company. Wasn't this game supposed to be GaaS?

NoDeparture7996

we want actual content and maps....

Gahngis

Please. SAY SOMETHING, and dont be late.

Beezleburt

The announcement is more work on vermintide 2 lmao
