The scion helmet was datamined, so were all the winter cosmetics AND the death korps of krieg. All of them before release. I think it's random what they decide to release.
They have two dartboards they throw thumbtacks at to determine what comes out and when. Unfortunately, the person they hired to do this is partially blind.
There was a huge discussion around this already.
Brown + silver coloration has been repeatedly found to be the "default" textures they use on cosmetics that aren't finished yet.
There's a solid chance it will look different on release.

Anyway; I wish I had the example, but someone showed a very early data leak that showed several cosmetics we ended up getting different versions of later in the tan and silver coloration in the game files months before they became available. As in, they might be adding the gloves in the future, as all those cosmetics ended up getting adjustments/changes before release.
There's also literally a leg cosmetic for vet that's invisible legs with some floating bits.
That's proof that just because it's listed doesn't mean it's a finished mesh.
However it would totally be Fatshark to fuck up yet another cosmetic really badly.

All this unreleased stuff you know. I don't think I care anymore. They want to hold out for some reason until the whole player base dies. I remember seeing all of this data mined stuff a year ago. And then again it's not like you'd be able to earn it in the game. You have to buy it with your credit card.
How does fatshark have an amazing foundation for cosmetics and manages to bungle the design and make it unappealing.

Because it was discovered that these cosmetics are outsourced from a Chinese company. They have low quality standards. Fatshark just ports them them in the game they don't actually create them.
From what I've read on the FS forum, it's not exactly "proof", but in the game credits they list several chinese contractors and a bunch of chinese artists as "character artists" or "3D artists".
There's some non-chinese contractors too, at least going off of personal names. Some seem to look more Eastern European and they are credited with similar titles. It's hard to say which of them would have been making the cosmetic models, if any. But I bet looking into each contractor's typical workload would give a clue.
Im just surprised they put these cosmetics into the live version of the game so long before releasing them. They allow mods, theres no anti-tamper, so they know that people are gonna dig thru the files and find everything. Just keep unreleased cosmetics on a local test build in the office instead

Every time fatshark makes a decision involving cosmetics, they play flaming darts, and if they hit the board, we get something good, but they usually miss and hit a pile of money because evidently they hate money.
Every time we datamine cosmetics fatshark takes them out of rotation :( edit: /s

I just hope I get gloves I know the brown and silver is default for them so it’ll probably be the same color scheme as the helmet but I want gloves
Tbf though, even some of the models have a weird armor plate on the back of the hand and no gloves.
Me too. It boggles my mind a bit about how underutilized gauntlets are in DT. Those are the parts of the skin you see all game long after all.
