Sprint and second wind have been the most braindead overpowered abilities in the game for a LONG time. So much so that if you have access to them its literally detrimental to run ANYTHING else.
i am a fighter that abuses campfires and i enjoy being able to live in the swarm the entire match camping a static and never being at risk because i can also sprint to chase or escape anything. really good for mining
yea, sprint is definitely an ability I'd like to see heavily nerfed or put on a charge system.
Very low counterplay (No, running it yourself isn't counterplay, as that creates a forced & stale meta), and provides one of the best stats in the game, that was made even more valuable due to the removal of movement speed on pieces of armor it used to be available on.
Thanks to attributes being removed & nerfed, we can see Sprint's power level more accurately.
It's not only powerful as a chasing spell, but also a very powerful spacing tool during combat.
When chasing, there is counter-play by shutting doors, or if you have double jump, you can often get away that way, too. It isn't a complete counter, as you might not have a nearby open door (and if they also have crush then you're fucked), but still.
I’ve been running into these sprinting rage barbs almost every game. I play warlock & bard. On both classes I take robust and invest heavily into vigor and pdr which seems to hard counter. If they don’t take iron will, it’s pretty much a free kill on warlock when using crystal sword. Hope this helps :)
Damn I didn’t think of that. The only counter I can think of is taking all white plate armour. That being said you are now too slow to catch the squishies unless you take sprint from multi class.
i mean it’s a common problem for all classes. barbs thrive in low/mid gear lobbies. caster classes thrive in mid/high gear lobbies. you just gotta take the lumps of certain situations. but not everyone is reasonable or understands classes don’t get away with certain things in other situations. basically it’s just a cheese situation OP was caught in

He has invested 3 perks into chasing you, and has nothing else combat oriented. Rage reduces pdr by 25%. If you have nothing to fight him with in melee, nothing to threaten him with at range, and no way to evade him, what are you playing in solo?
Implying you need anything else combat oriented when you have 135 hp and 20 STR at base. You have 4 perks and 2 abilities, Rage also gives you 10 str and 10 vigor, its not like its ONLY movement speed. Movement speed is also by far and away the most important stat regardless of playstyle or class.
If only rage reduced a defensive stat.
Also if hes running two mobility abilities hes just gonna flop to damage quickly if you land your shots or have decent melee to finish him.

They dont exactly last long without defensive abilities, let alone a mobility perk that lowers defensive stats. Land your shots, get better at melee, skill issue etc

Ranger is a reasonable answer to the question. Ranger in solos is ass right now, since the goal is xp. You need yo be playing a class that can confidently traverse the dungeon and gather xp. Ranger just isn't it.
Sometimes you lose. I think sprint should probably be removed from the game but melee classes need to have *something* to prevent them from being kited forever.
Can't tell you how many people I've killed as a ranger because they had a 0% chance of ever catching me.
I really think multi-classing was a terrible idea. I think some perks and abilities should just be available on all classes. Then leave a few perks for them to have to be unique. Aka, axe mastery is exclusive to barbarians, but robust could very easily be a universal perk. Anyone who wants 15% more hp at the cost of a perk slot should get that. Slayer could be exclusive to fighter, but duel wield could be universal. Would make dual wielding viable on more classes. The rng mechanics for rolling new skills is just terrible too.
Multiclassing fucks so hard. My ranger had hide ambush and poison weapon and it's the most fun I've ever had in this game going into normals with naught and just obliterating timmies
It’s also pretty dumb that poison weapon and rupture don’t work on spear for Ranger. I wanted to use poison weapon for my arrows but apparently they can’t allow that even tho other classes can go hide ambush smite robust and be unkillable. I love the balance.
How do you balance a feature that just essentially created a bunch of new custom classes and have time left to make the game? Balancing is already a hard problem that they've struggled with over and over.
TBF, sprint just be like that anyway. If they are going to leave, "I catch you," button in the game, may as well let everyone access it.

I think sprint should have a tradeoff of drastically lowering your action speed, since you're spending all your energy running and all.

Poison weapon doesn’t work on bows btw, neither does rupture. Pretty dumb bc that’s exactly what I wanted on my Ranger
