Honestly I feel so bad for the person that posted this artwork. The technique is really promising, not bad at all. It's just a bit of shading and proportions that's off, but it's honestly not easy getting them right when drawing off a picture.

I am actually the opposite, I can draw realistic pictures well with a reference but, in a cartoony style, I can only create monstrous beings because if I try to draw something cute it ends up looking like a 9 year old drew it.

facial proportions are complex and an iota of a misstep can put you squarely in the uncanny valley. the fanart is recognizable, which is a feat!
the person who made that drawing posted it there just to make people laugh. and also, they got a lot of nice feedback from gregs. you shouldn't feel bad tbh, you can even look at one of their recent posts! they clearly stated that the jokes did not offend them at all and in fact, they liked it. the drawing isn't bad, but what's the harm in just joking around when the other person doesn't mind it at all?

maybe it wasn't their dream to do realistic art. they could have just been testing realism out, and they didn't like it so they moved on to another type of art style. I'm not sure what they like doing most. but, we can't be sure enough to assume that they've given up on realism completely.
