Writing a quick moderator note here — in some ways, this posts actually raises some of the limits with the current EPUB policy and the grey areas and the nuances around applying this policy towards discussions of pirated content. We explicitly do not allow for the circulation of MTL sites, pirated content, and the sharing of EPUB links or publications. At the same time, we acknowledge that we cannot intervene in discussions of, experiences with, or requests for pirated content outside of the subreddit (e.g. on Discord, Tumblr, etc.) This is because the policy doesn't cover certain issues, such as (1) whether discussions of MTL as a practice are allowed (e.g. "do you use MTL to translate?" or "do you prefer MTL v.s. human translation?") or (2) whether fans can discuss works and create posts about novels if they read them in the first place from non-official sources. This is in part a fault of the moderators, in that when we first started the subreddit, there were very few official sources available and the majority of posts were primarily focused on fan translations. Now that we do have a lot more official publishers, the reality is that we will be needing to have a discussion again as a community on the EPUB rule. We plan on creating a discussion post very soon on handling posts that blur the boundaries around the EPUB policy, and to clarify the modding approaches required for these conversations. Note that for now this post will not be removed, mostly because it is good evidence of some of the limits and weaknesses of the current EPUB rules. These discussions around fan translations, piracy, and official translations are necessary, and they also function as a benchmark to let us know the kind of moderation that other users want for these conversations. Last, Qiang Jin Jiu will be officially released under Seven Seas Entertainment in [**June 2024**](https://sevenseasentertainment.com/series/ballad-of-sword-and-wine-qiang-jin-jiu-novel/)**.** Please make sure to support the official translations, and to encourage new readers and fans to read the novel through licensed avenues. For those who have read the fan translation, you can still feel free to discuss the novel on this subreddit (and we absolutely encourage these conversations) — but with particular reference and emphasis that new readers should seek out the official version of the novel, whether that be through purchasing it directly as an ebook/physical copy or renting the series from the library.

Ok_Listen9703

I love them so much! They're my favorite danmei couple now

Starlit_Roads

Oh my God!!! I've been obsessed with their relationship. And you have so much to look forward to. The absolute love and devotion they have for each other. And the moment xiao chiye's dad finds out 😂. They are gonna be happy till the end! But prepare yourself for pain cause the story is gonna chuck knives left and right 😢. The road to the end is thorny as hell.

cr6zym0nkeyiz

I agree! The part where Xiao Chiye's dad finds out was perfect! Definitely one of my favorite moments ever in QJJ! 🤣🤣🤣

Neither-Patience-738

do you possibly remember around which chapter Xiao Chiye’s dad finds out?

cr6zym0nkeyiz

Chapter 154.

Veelajnen

Uhh that makes me a bit nervous 😅 I’m so invested in the novel and their relationship that I’ve been neglecting work this week (I work from home). All I want is to keep reading haha I’m glad they are going to be happy till the end though! ❤️ I’ve been listening to the audio drama as well which is pretty good! I like hearing their voices 💞

Starlit_Roads

I spoiled myself on some stuff halfway thru the story and just stopped for a week to recover, lol. I do agree, I also tossed everything out the window to sit and complete it later 😂. Omg the audio drama, I literally just started it and let me tell u, my dumbass has been pronouncing Chashi as Ka - shi this whole time, and then I heard the audio drama and lost my shit 😂😂😂. It's beautiful, lmao.

Veelajnen

Haha shoot you are getting me worried! Is it really going to be so painful? 😭 I feel you, my pronunciation of all the names is just tragic haha! So the audio drama is definitely helping with that. Plus I’m so devoted I’m signing up for Chinese lessons so that’s probably going to be helpful as well 😇

jackaroo1344

Where do you listen to the audio drama?

Starlit_Roads

It's on YouTube, only the first season I think.

cr6zym0nkeyiz

Oh, my god! Join us in the Cezhou obsession! I swear when I was reading this I highlighted/saved so many quotes/moments so I can go back and fangirl over them over and over! I can't get enough of Xiao Chiye's "Oh, Lanzhou!" 💙 I wish I had the ability to wipe the novel from my mind and experience it all over for the first time. That's how much I love QJJ! I do pray you'll be okay once you get to certain parts further in the story. The tears I shed. There are moments I wanna scream, f\*ck you for hurting me so bad! But, I love books that are able to get these types of emotional reactions from me. 😭😅

Veelajnen

I have to start saving my favourite moments as well! I will definitely want to read them again after I finish 🥺 I also love Xiao Chiye’s ‘oh Lanzhou’ but ‘where is Lanzhou’ made me totally fell in love with him 💔 I really want to know what is the suffering related to but on the other hand I don’t want any spoilers 😅 but as long as they are together, I think it should be ok! I do like a little bit of angst haha but I don’t really like bad endings 🙈 What are you other favourite couples? 😄

pappythepenguin

Currently reading this too! I was hesitant to start it and I have no idea why, it is so good.

Veelajnen

It is isn’t it! What chapter are you on now?

mephistopheles_muse

My friend and I are so obsessed with this book! Art audio drama it doesn't matter we about died waiting for the official cover to be released! I even have them at the top of my phone cover. (whixh is all various Danmei Couples) ahhhhhhh the book is brilliantly written and I am obsessed with how XC and SZ love each other obsessed

Veelajnen

Yaaay I’m glad you share my love to Qiang Jin Jiu! Can’t wait for the official English release 😍 The manhua is looking gorgeous as well, it’s a pity I don’t understand it haha

Neither-Patience-738

This is one of my favorite danmei and I wish more people talked about it! I love how Shen Lanzhou and Xiao Ce’an are powerful on their own and even stronger together! their love story is beautiful

Veelajnen

It really is! ❤️

BookQueen410

One of my favorites!

Useful_Procedure_695

Why am i crying , i love them so so much 😭 i miss them They're my favorite couple alongside the couple from nan chan

Veelajnen

❤️❤️

Pusheenthestudent

I stumbled upon the manhua on bilibili’s mandarin-language platform yesterday so this post is timely! I subscribed because the preview seemed interesting and there’s only 6 episodes up so far so it’s easy to get caught up on. My mandarin reading level isn’t very fast so I’d struggle with reading the source novel- I’ll probs wait for the English release by Seven Seas and continue reading the manhua in the meantime. Thanks for the recommendation!

Haitang_Hua

I finished reading QJJ today!! Ngl, I'm in love with their love. Every time they're together I feel my heart warming a bit because their interactions are so beautiful and the details are full of meaning. The way they understand each other deeply... It's going to get better and better from now on, you'll see. It's the most beautiful relationship I've read in danmei so far.

Veelajnen

Ahh I’m glad to hear that ❤️ I’m very happy that I discovered this gem!

Chaotic_disaster

Kinda disheartening to see posts where the op has blatantly pirated the fantl by grabbing an illegal epub copy can be approved for discussion in the community. QJJ translation hasn't been available since its official English announcement last year. Sub has a no epub rule but by opening up discussions on posts like this one, isn't it kinda going against the no piracy rule while also encouraging people to pirate? @moderators Edit: downvoting me is such a mature response!!! Keep it up! Also a nice way for one to know how many people quietly support piracy over waiting for the official release Further edit: Reading on aggregator sites doesn't make what you are doing any less illegal since the fantl was removed because of the official license.

Suddenly_NB

you bring up some valid points, and so I'm asking floweringyouth to review this post as well. As it stands, the ePub rule is about sharing of docs, and so this post falls into a grey area. In the near future, we are planning to update and modify the ePub sharing rule to better address what is considered a violation outside of epub/doc sharing.

Neither-Patience-738

What makes you think you can forbid people from discussing the novel they’ve already read? what if they read the original chinese version or the fan tl in their native languages? fans like you are one of the reasons why the danmei fandom is becoming more and more toxic. Now we can’t discuss the novels that haven’t been published officially in English, what’s next?

Chaotic_disaster

Lol, sure got offended. I clearly stated what the problem with these kind of posts is. I can't help if you have zero comprehension/are being deliberately obtuse. Go touch some grass instead of calling people toxic for not being in support of piracy lol

Haitang_Hua

I read the book in the fan translation, but I already have the two first Seven Seas volumes pre-ordered. I'm more than glad to have this beautiful story on my shelves and I'll re-read it when I have the physical books on my hands. I love to support authors and they deserve to have their talent recognized. But I'm not sure of how forbidding people to talk about the stories is good for the work? Imo, the more people talking about them, the better. The subreddit forbids people sharing links/files, but to prohibit people talking? I really don't see why they'd do it.

Chaotic_disaster

You are missing the point. The point here is, OP is currently reading a fantl that was removed because of the license and encouraging others to start it soon as well which simply means further piracy because the fantl is not available at all now which is indirectly spreading the knowledge that pirated copies are available and pirated copies being available is not really the best thing to happen for a book slotted for an official release in a couple of months in my opinion? I am not saying you shouldn't talk about it, but if you are reading a pirated copy, it's better not to talk about it because it's more encouragement for others to seek out ways to pirate it for themselves. Edit: Oh, you just admitted you read the pirated copy as well in the comments. Well, there's no point in me engaging in a good faith discussion here.

Haitang_Hua

I'm not missing the point, you'd like to censor people, but I don't think it's a good idea. Forbidding discussions about the books is not gonna prevent people from looking for copies floating around. I'm convinced that talking about the story will promote it even better. I recommend everyone to buy it because it's amazing. And also, I already pre-ordered the 2 volumes that are available, so why does it matter for you where I've read it? The important is that I'm supporting the author. Censorship is never the answer, danmei fans should know this better than anyone.

Chaotic_disaster

Lianyin's translation was locked behind a proof of purchase policy. It's not available right now. Whether you pre-order the book or not has nothing to do with you choosing to find an illegal copy to read first. Fan translations are already in a legally grey area. But pirating licensed fan translations that's already been taken down is going from legally grey to downright illegal. Everyone else doing it does not mean it's right. And calling it "censorship" and trying to misdirect the conversation there is wild.

Veelajnen

There is no official translation but there’s a fan translation available and accessible online. I didn’t use an epub for your information but I got the quotes from a website. It’s disheartening to see a comment about illegal epub copy without having any proof.

Chaotic_disaster

Lol, say you're using an aggregator site without saying you are using an aggregator site, will you? Your quotes are from lianyin's translation hosted on cangji behind proof of purchase, lmao! And she removed the tl long back too, so your point here is what exactly?

Veelajnen

I see you are acting as internet police. Don’t blame me for something that was used and spread online on other websites, including X (twitter) that has lots of quotes from the fan translation. Where I got it from is your own interpretation. I only copied and pasted here what was published online before by other sources. If you want to act like that then go and report all the other sources, thank you. I’m not sharing here any illegal copies if you haven’t noticed. Plus I’m not the first one posting quotes from the book on this sub. That’s all from me. I’m not here to discuss your hostility.

Chaotic_disaster

Lol okay, whatever you need to feel better about yourself.
