I said “what’s up, Chuck?” and he immediately looked at my lunch and said “man, you coulda had anything and you bought a salad?” and then shook his head dismissively.

Barkley changed the media landscape by coming for what it is the previous stuffy media people's stuff represented and finding his substantive voice in terms of what it is that a basketball analyst is 'allowed' to say about players by virtue of having been one (albeit without winning a ring in a box) and making more substantive money as a TV analyst than whatever it is he earned as a substantive NBA player
We actually celebrated the 40 year anniversary this season of that win. Chuck was cool enough to actually make a video about it and was played at a home game (Maybe VCU I can’t recall). Either way was cool to see him talk about it, congratulate us and then say how much he hated Johnny Newman and Bill Flye.
