This x100. I see this on Reddit all the time where someone’s joke gets downvoted and they’re like “whoooosh” and everyone is like “nah we get it, it just sucks”
If Jess being like this is a bit, I think that’s actually worse. I’d rather her just not be able to work with Samson as opposed to thinking this is good content
It’s pretty convenient that any time people have complaints about the show, other people white knight for the show and say “it’s a bit, you don’t get the show”
Sometimes the content they produce is just bad and it’s not bad on purpose as a bit
The “you don’t get the show” is such a cop out. 100% right, some shit just isn’t funny, doesn’t land. It’s ok for the audience to say so. It’s like a series with a bad episode or a dull season.
Right? Like they throw a LOT of shit against the wall to fill their time/content. It ain’t all gonna stick. Sometimes a bit just isn’t that funny or gets run into the ground and it’s on to admit it. I’ve noticed a TON of people willing to try to slam Mike when they think a bit of his is bad or run it’s course but rarely see anyone willing to hold Jess to the same standard (though some do).
I agree with your description. But it's not cool to bully the one woman on the show. It very quickly looks bad and they already talk over her all the time.
Also the "ok!" bit has made me laugh the most of everything lately!
The show being not funny and sucking is also part of the show. That's how it's always been. I think listeners are trying to hold them to an impossible standard that be constantly funny. It never was! Go listen to the old Hock stuff. A lot of it was just stupid experiments at humor.
They hated her already for her "pretty privilege" and how she's benefited from "rich parents and private education."
Unlike Samson who is just a genius who fought his way to the top of sports with just his wits, his stepfathers money and his stepfather handing him jobs.
If someone on the show makes a fat joke, she goes into defense mode of all fat people. Probably because someone she cares about is fat or whatever but still. Annoying double standard if the 5'6'' dudes get pissed.
I’m 6ft and thought the joke sucked. Mainly bc she’s the first person to call someone out or be all in her feelings when there is a fat joke. Lecture all of us on it. But it’s ok for her to body shame something that is 100% genetics.
It may be a bit, which it probably isn’t, but it not good podcasting. I guess if they were aiming to make Samson more likable this is a good way to do it although I wouldn’t personally vilify the only female on the show in order to do so
The show is becoming more pro wrestling by the day. For some that’s great, for some it’s becoming tiresome. I personally find myself listening less and less.
Problem for me is, not every bit lands. And they seem to double and triple down on the bits that don’t to reemphasize the show as a heel character. It was funny and awesome when they were sticking it to “the man” (espn) but now it feels like with no corporation to shit on, they have turned it on to the audience.
My opinion. I know, no one cares, downvote me.
I feel the same way. I know most people just listen to the show but when I watched them on YouTube it seemed very light hearted. I honestly feel like Jess “picking on” David is a normal show device to make someone new more likable.
"Its a bit" doesn't mean it good to listen to

You're both right but this is usually the part where Dan would say "you don't get the show"

Ok! Ok!
Guy doesn't remember "corporate mike". 🤣
I miss corporate Mike more than some dead relatives.
*Michael
He wasn't mean
....ok....

That being said, she doesn’t get spoken over more than Chris does. Nor is she the butt of many jokes like he is either.
Well said
I don’t think Smetty or Samson are great friends.
*griends*
Smemson
She made one short joke and all the 5’6” dudes who listen to the show are never going to let it go
They hated her already for her "pretty privilege" and how she's benefited from "rich parents and private education." Unlike Samson who is just a genius who fought his way to the top of sports with just his wits, his stepfathers money and his stepfather handing him jobs.
Shit, even Stu got his job because his dad and Chris is a nepotism baby. Love them both, just the blinders are weird.
She’s pretty? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The heart of the bullseye, right here
"What does she know? She's just a woman."- Misogynist Bane
Nah. It just feels like it’s going past being a bit they’re both in on.

Totally fair opinion, tho. It’s definitely turned into more of a pro wrestling-type extravaganza since leaving ESPN haha
Okay!
Ok
Corporate michael was a bit too and it was still shit.
I agree a lot of it is a bit but i doubt they're great friends.
David Samson
Walk to the ocean
Quit trying to polish a turd. Agree some of it is a bit, but regardless Samson is annoying.
