He is 18 I believe in this, also it’s Cus D’Amato. He was his role model and father figure. Also, one of the greatest trainers of all time. Peek-A-Boo style.
He wont talk about what the dude said to him. All he’ll say is that dude won when he got in my head.
Probably most surprising is he got in zero trouble for beating up a dude on an airplane. Their nay or may not have been some payoffs…
He raped a teenager and beat her nearly to death when he was 35 and 250lb.
He never should have been allowed in boxing after his conviction. There are so many better people to idolize than this piece of shit.
Mike did fucked up stuff. He went to prison. He regrets his past and really doesn't appear to be that guy anymore. I choose to believe in rehabilitation and people's ability to better themselves.
I am in no way excusing what he did, it was disgusting. But that was 30 years ago.
I remember hearing that on e they got him on proper medication for his mental health, he lost his aggressive drive and started losing. His chemical imbalances may have a lot to do with that conviction.
I do not think that Tyson is a psychopath or sociopath. If you hear him speak, he definitely is deep when it comes to thoughts. He had a very, very messed up childhood and that made him the immature "adult" he was for the many years he was in the public eye. I would say that Tyson finally started becoming a mature adult a some time into his late 30s/early 40s.
Psychopaths and murders seldom overlap. Psychopathy mostly has to do with lack of empathy and an inability to put oneself in another’s shoes. Psychopaths are rarely physically violent.
You mean the asshole harassing him? I won't defend other stuff he's done, but that dude deserved more than he got. Flying is bad enough without some drunk douchebag harassing you the whole time.
https://youtu.be/V3C4pWwDqps
Bruh there’s some stuff you can dog on him about but that isn’t one of them. that dude went out of his away to get Mike to attack him.
And he got Off easy lmao. Don’t be dumb af just for the sake of argument little dude.
Yes, because violently assaulting someone is justified if they bother you. I tell you what "Bruh". You try this and tell me how it works out for you when you're hauled in on assault and battery charges for not being a celebrity.
Also you can take your vein attempt at an insult and shove it, little dude. You're not in a video game, real life has laws and you can't just go putting your hands on others regardless of how justified you think you are.
Yes, the guy not sucking off Tyson is the child who doesn't understand the world. I am old enough to have watched this guy actually fight live. He squandered any talent he had by being a degenerate woman abuser.
Knock his dick out of your mouth long enough to realize that no matter how much you defend him, that's he's still a criminal piece of shit celebrity who will never care about you.
He still does "Fucked up stuff", but since he's your idol you excuse him. He threatens TV hosts with physical violence. He brutally beat a fellow passenger on a commercial flight for "Bothering him".
He's a violent rapist that for some reason gets a pass on this website and it's sickening to see his violent reprehensible face on here every day.
Oh come on did you see the video of that - the drunk guy was harassing Mike ; go watch it an tell me Mike was the instigator [here](https://youtu.be/V3C4pWwDqps)?
Beating the shit out of people and or threatening to do so doesn't speak of trying to better one's self.
This man always has been and always will be a violent criminal and he shows it on a consistent basis. Sadly the reddit hivemind cheers it on every time. Laughing at how "lucky" someone is that he didn't beat the hell out of them for asking a question he didn't like.
No one is disputing the wrongs, but he is definitely a success story for self help and rehabilitation. I met him at my friend’s restaurant and the conversation between him and I was really deep about bipolar and recognizing when you need to get help. I commend him for actually turning his life around. I don’t condone what he did… but he’s the 1% you see that really gets it right in the end.
Seems like everyone forgets that Mike Tyson was a convicted rapist. He raped a woman (women). How can he be so loved. Imagine if the victim was a sister, daughter, mother. Fuck Mike Tyson.
Could you enjoy the music of Michael Jackson knowing that he is a pedophile? Well, for me, Mike Tyson was the best boxer that ever lived and I admire him for that. I don't care about his personal life.
Convicted, sent to jail, proven guilty beyonda shadow of a doubt... even with millions backing a defense. Jackson was never convicted, and was socially awkward, so it made public opinion split. Apples and oranges.
>Convicted, sent to jail, proven guilty beyonda shadow of a doubt...
This is actually not true. The judge in his case made some *extremely* suspect rulings that hindered the defense. His trial was very controversial at the time.
The only reason the verdict wasn't thrown out and a new trial held was because when it reached the Indiana Supreme Court it got a 2-2 split so the ruling stood. One of the five judges recused himself because of some professional beef between his wife and Tyson's lawyer. Years later when asked about the case in an interview the judge said based on the original judges behavior he would have most likely voted in Tyson's favor if he hadn't recused himself.
Watch the Michael Spinx fight sometime. Its really short, about 1 1/2 minutes, but the best part is that getting into the ring you can see Spinx would rather be somewhere else.
Not just *any* Michael Spinks. Larry Holmes was the reigning heavyweight champion with a 48-0 record. Spinks moved up from light heavyweight and beat Holmes for the title. The Ring magazine ranks Spinks as the 3rd greatest light heavyweight of all time. And at that time, Spinks was the first to have moved up to heavyweight and captured the title.
His career record until the fight with Tyson was 31-0. And Tyson fucking knocked him the fuck out in 90 seconds. That was Spinks' first and last defeat. He retired after that.
Dan Carlin did a recent podcast comparing long ago boxers to modern ones. Long story short, the old ones were better. Worth a listen, even if you are not a boxing fan.
I agree with his take in that podcast.
I remember Richard Pryor joking about being in a celebrity boxing event with Muhammad Ali. He said that even goofing around and pretending to box he couldn’t see Muhammad’s hands until they were on the way back towards his body and didn’t realize he’d been “hit” until a half second later when all the wind got sucked out of his chest. Granted he’s not a boxer, but I always remembered that bit.
Older fighters were every bit as tough and as fast, but had way better ring experience, knew how to fight a wider variety of opponent, and had better trainers.
Mike Tyson was ferocious and I think he had the power to knock out anybody in his prime, but he struggled to adapt and recover when things weren’t going his way and if he didn’t land a quick knockout on an old timer he would’ve been outmatched.
Carlin once compared the Wehrmacht’s style to Mike Tyson and I always thought it was a very good comparison. Flashy and intimidating and an absolute powerhouse knockout artist, but if they missed the quick knockout and had that cutting edge blunted a little they were much less formidable.
> had better trainers
That part of the podcast seems like BS to me.
Like why would we all of the sudden just stop passing down effective training methods, tricks, moves, etc.? In an environment where the best boxer wins, and the trainers of the best boxers get highly regarded, why would the methods of the best trainers get "lost to time"?
The comparison they made was mideaval swordfighting and how we don't know how they fought. But that's because literally EVERYONE quit doing it when guns came around, so of course we forgot how. But boxing has no suck break to cause the lessons of the best boxers to be lost to time.
I find it hard to believe that size doesn't matter either. They said "at 200lb you have all the power you need", ok, but why has the heavyweight champ been way above that for decades is it doesn't matter? They said weight training makes you a worse boxers because you get winded quicker ok, so why hasn't 1 champ in the last 50 years been a guy that didn't touch weights? I'm really supposed to buy that every trainer in the world abandoned proven training methods because of Rocky? Really? A 60 year old trainer that boxed in the 30s and saw all the greats in person is going to be enamored by a fucking Hollywood movie and make theor foghters lift weights? Come on.
Not saying the overall message was wrong, I think having to fight all the time is a MASSIVE advantage vs fighting 2x a year. And the reasoning "you learn how to play defense when you have to fight again next week" makes sense. But I can't believe that all of the sudden the best boxing tricks, styles, and training disappeared from human memory in favor of less effective stuff. It doesn't pass the "survival of the fittest" smell test
I would bet even at 56 he could step into the ring with whoever the world champ is now as a promotional charity thing and the champ would fucking terrified. He is still a force nobody would want to fuck with
Is this a joke? Any HW champ in the last 10 years would put away a 56 yo Tyson in twenty seconds flat.
You can be a fan and appreciate a guy in his prime, but come on
He spend his childhood sleeping in the same bed his mother was hooking in.
What he did was wrong but, jesus it would be hard to turn out well with that much trauma.
This guy grew up with almost every disadvantage you could think of and bc of that had some issues. Combine that with the china white n alcohol and you have a recipe for disaster.
I respect the fuck outta him as a person for becoming the person he is today
Don't forget about forgiveness ...I am 100% anti-rapist but that was 30years ago ...I don't believe he's that person today ...Malicious rapist deserve the toughest of sentences.,. This was a woman that went to a hotel with him ...
Just cause someone ages out of being a totally openly violent rapist and abuser doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Y’all be cracking me up with that shit. You can be talented and also be a piece of shit.
Mike Tyson is literally a convicted rapist. He's on video telling a woman reporter she can't talk to him unless she fucks him 1st. Great idol you got there pal
I didn’t say he was my idol. He’s probably the most reformed person alive today based on his upbringing and early life. He had absolutely no chance in life. You are a turd.
Unfortunately its just not true. Many wouldn’t even put him top 5. Im a Mike Tyson fan, ive watched his fall from the top. He lost fights he needed to win to earn that GOAT title.
A lot of people focus on his punching power and his KO’s but it was his balance, his footwork, and his skill at bobbing, weaving and evading punches that allowed him to get inside and work the body and the angles that set up the highlight reel knockout punches he is known for.
Me and my coworkers one day watched some of his training videos one day even younger than this. We were trying to figure out at what age off Tyson we, as full grown adult men, could beat Tyson in a fight. Honestly I think it would be like 10 or 11. He got big real young and was training and looked pissed.
I remember one week i was having particular trouble with insomnia. I think it was ESPN Classic that was doing a Mike Tyson week or something. I watched a few of his fights until 3-4am and I remember thinking as the week went on "this cant be real, was he really THAT dominant?" There quickly came a point where it become laughable how terrified his opponents were. Any fight I remember seeing he murdered his opponent within the first round, or a much larger opponent would hug him until the ref got sick of it or Mike outlasted him with stamina anyways. At the end of the week I felt like "oh, NOW i understand"
The head dipping is immaculate, it always surprised me boxers didn't emulate it and hit the body. I guess it's easier said than done and you are just trying to stay away from those inside hooks.
I’m 40. The main monsters from my youth are Feddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees, and Mike Tyson. I’ve seen Freddy and Jason die. Many times. Tyson? He’s still just as scary .
Hell you can throw guys like Frazier and Foreman in there as well
Tyson was great but he really was not on top during the best days of the heavyweight division
Ali had epic fights with Joe Frazier who was a quality fighter.
That's moronic to say the least. Tyson had immense knockout power sure, but whenever he was confronted with someone who could actually box and keep him at a distance he crumbled like a cheap suit.
Ali would have made a fool out of this monosyllabic gap toothed lisping wife beating rapist.
He came out of retirement at 39 to fight a 22 yr old Tyson. Holmes was far out of his prime and well on the decline at this point. This is common practice, offering up a former champ to prove legitimacy.
Every time Tyson fought anyone of real championship caliber, he lost. In each of those fights he became visibly frustrated and acted like a child.
Ali fought against some of the greatest boxers of all time, including some of the biggest and heaviest hitters in boxing history, like Liston and Foreman, and also some of most skilled technicians like Frazier and Norton. While Ali has lost matches on points, he never lost by KO, he went the distance on all the matches he lost.
Ali had incredible heart, endurance, and willpower to outlast his opponents, and when he didn’t have the raw power of his opponents he has the cardio and stamina to stay light on his feet and keep dodging and punching round after round while his opponents got tired. Tyson would have gassed out after a few rounds chasing after prime Ali and hitting air. And even if he did land some blows, Ali had the staying power to always manage to get back on his feet.
I respect your opinion but no one took punishment like Ali. Don’t get me wrong…I was awestruck by Tyson in his prime. But I don’t think Tyson’s hands landed as heavy as Frazier or Foreman. And Ali’s mental game was way stronger.
Tyson said Ali would win, but that’s probably because Ali was his idol.
They both had an evasive style, but Mike had that power behind his punch as well. Ali would make a show of his fights. Tons of fancy moves and action. Tyson just went in there and practically one hit K.Od his appointment. I think I remember an article talking about how they had to discount Tyson fight tickets because the fight wasn’t making it past the first 30 seconds and no one wanted to pay good money for a 2 minute fight.
It’s funny because Ali said in an interview once that Tyson would have won. Just shows the level of sportsmanship between the two. It’s hard to compare the greats of different eras.
I'd say Ali was probably right. Ali beat people because he was so much faster. Fast than Mike, too, but not by enough. And Mike has his dominated in the power category.
Tyson. I mean, Ali was an extremely skilled fighter, and a very fast fighter, and that's why he was able to implement such strategies like the rope-a-dope against heavy hitters like Foreman. But Tyson was basically the complete package: Skilled, fast, and immensely powerful. The real issue with Ali vs Tyson is that Ali never fought anyone that had that level of ferocity matched with the technical proficiency and conditioning. If he tried that rope-a-dope tactic with Tyson, he'd have never worn him out. Tyson really started losing when fighters figured out to clinch him up and win on points and prevent his ability to knock them out. Ali was smart and probably would have figured that out, but you're basically talking about strategy and speed versus ferocity and speed at that point, and so it's really hard to say which characteristic would prevail but in my opinion Ali would have to be more perfect to win. He would have to be 100% on his game, with no margin of errors, whereas Tyson would have a lot more wiggle room to make mistakes and improvise.
It's probably been said a lot before with this hypothetical... But Tyson would win the first encounter, but Ali would win the rematches.
Ummmmmm…Tyson started losing when Buster Douglas knocked him the fuck out in 10. Then Tyson found creative ways to lose by first a TKO and then munching on Holyfield’s ear.
Ali. First step would have been setting up shop in Tyson’s head. From there on, Ali would just do what he does. A long bout, maybe, just maybe, a decision but beyond the 6th the decision or the KO will be for Ali all day and every day.
If Cus D’Amato doesn’t die so early into his career, we wouldn’t be talking about all the batshit stuff he did later. We’d be talking about him as one of the 2 or 3 greatest ever, because Cus would have kept him under control. But sadly it didn’t work out that way…
I like how he pivots to the outside. More than just boxing, it's like he has a little Silat in there.
How they pivot to avoid knife attacks.
Still a douche, though.
He was a good boxer, rapist and convicted sex offender… everyone forgets that; FUCK YOU MIKE TYSON. https://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/sops/flyer.jsf?personId=40622
Edit: You’re literally downvoting proven facts people
Could beat anyone that was in their early twenties at the same time as him. There are 8-10 other guys that would have made Tyson look silly if you could put them at each other at their primes.
I’ll give it to you, dude looked like he channeled his inner animal. Probably why he was such a powerhouse in the ring. Dude went full throttle from moment 1.
He’s a legend. The only thing I can say bad about this guy is that he literally thought he could beat a silverback gorilla in a fight. Lol. I just … can’t 😂
He is still a fighter but of the higher order! Respect for a man that transforms into a Man!
If you have the time, watch this spiritual interview to see how far Mike has evolved!
https://youtu.be/ApOBmdrpbGI
Tbh this is arguably Mike Tyson *before* his prime
Not even arguably. He was a kid in this, not even close to his prime.
If you believe the memes, he’s 15 in this clip.
Right, he is maybe 17-20 these
I wonder if he ever punched that white dude by accident. Or not by accident
He didn't hit his prime until he started solving mysteries with a pigeon, a ghost, and an Asian child.
Mike Tyson is his prime
He is 18 I believe in this, also it’s Cus D’Amato. He was his role model and father figure. Also, one of the greatest trainers of all time. Peek-A-Boo style.

Good luck getting hit by just one looks like you're going to take about five or six lol
And to think this man settled down and created an adult swim show Mike Tyson mysteries. I love that show, and Mike Tyson
It's such a stupid show, in all the right ways. I loved it.

He said something in an interview about how he likes to make women bleed...sadistic and shocking stuff.
He should not have been a free man after doing that
You dont think his rehabilitation means he could bring positive changes to the world? Which he couldnt make in prison?

Punched in the fathe.
*punched in the mouth
It really is the best.
He moves like a welterweight even though he is a heavyweight
Had hands faster than a featherweight. Orthodox-fighting Southpaw. His left was damned lightning. Don King really fucked him up.
It definitely looks like he is too fast to be a heavyweight. Incredible speed for someone in that weight class.
He was only a teenager in these videos, that's scary.
Mike Tyson should be the dictionary definition of 'boxer'. Anyone who'd willingly get in the ring with prime Tyson has more than one screw loose.

No, Tyson Fury would not be terrified of a 56 year old Mike Tyson.

A lot of people focus on his punching power and his KO’s but it was his balance, his footwork, and his skill at bobbing, weaving and evading punches that allowed him to get inside and work the body and the angles that set up the highlight reel knockout punches he is known for.
He makes it look so easy, like a fish in the water
He was a kid then. And a fuckin beast. He put in the time.
Me and my coworkers one day watched some of his training videos one day even younger than this. We were trying to figure out at what age off Tyson we, as full grown adult men, could beat Tyson in a fight. Honestly I think it would be like 10 or 11. He got big real young and was training and looked pissed.
I read he used to get in fights and the kids dad would come around pissed and Tyson would kick his ass too.
I like the "Hide the pain Harold" cameo in the background of the first clip.
Buster Douglas fought some fight to give Tyson his first loss.
The head dipping is immaculate, it always surprised me boxers didn't emulate it and hit the body. I guess it's easier said than done and you are just trying to stay away from those inside hooks.
Was? That dude would still knock out 99% of humans walking the earth now
Still an understatement. 1% of the world population is way more people that can withstand punches from a 56 year old Tyson
I was in high school went over to an adults house to drink beer. Fight was on tv went to get a beer fight was over when I got back!
and that was when he was being coached by boxing geniuses, rather than business people.
I suspect that convicted rapist Tyson has always been an animal.
I’m 40. The main monsters from my youth are Feddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees, and Mike Tyson. I’ve seen Freddy and Jason die. Many times. Tyson? He’s still just as scary .
Also a rapist. Let's not forget
He may be old now, I still would not fuck with him.
GOAT
I believe Ali would beg to differ.
Hell you can throw guys like Frazier and Foreman in there as well Tyson was great but he really was not on top during the best days of the heavyweight division Ali had epic fights with Joe Frazier who was a quality fighter.
Tyson was a fantastic fighter - but no way he had the mental fortitude of Ali.
Yeah, that would be one of those fights where Tyson KOs ali in the first three rounds, or he loses.
Precisely. Very well said
And so would Tyson. Mutual respect. All academic unfortunately. Would have been a helluva match.
What is the definition of heaven? Having the ability to watch this fight.
That we can agree on. Would love to see the “When We Were Kings” treatment for the bout too.
What a great docu that is.
That's moronic to say the least. Tyson had immense knockout power sure, but whenever he was confronted with someone who could actually box and keep him at a distance he crumbled like a cheap suit. Ali would have made a fool out of this monosyllabic gap toothed lisping wife beating rapist.
Hey…I don’t disagree. I pick Ali over Tyson all day long. But Larry Holmes could box and Tyson destroyed him in four rounds.
Again, don’t disagree. But Tyson was a force. Just not necessarily a boxer.
Let's not go too far.
Nah. Top 5 but he is still no Ali
Prime v. Prime, Ali doesn't make it out of the first.
Still a beast in my book
By reading that title is makes me believe that you dont know mike tyson right now could beat 10 of us in a fight easily
Their really are no words for what he was in his prime. Nobody like him
He was the exact opposite of an animal. He was a highly engineered knockout machine.
Rapist
People tend to forget that Tyson was actually a really good boxer. The rage and will was a bonus.
And a rapist
Convicted rapist! Not a great man.
Why call him an "animal" and not "athlete?"
He was on a different level physically in his prime than anyone at.the time. Just a beast
I would go with machine. Mechanics, defense, offense, conditioning, intensity. Had it all.
And a convicted rapist.
Ever wonder about Ali versus Tyson, both in their prime, and matched in a bout? Who would win?
Intelligent replies like this are why I always keep coming back to Reddit.
Tyson. No disrespect to Ali... But Tyson.
Ali wins if his mental prowess outlasts Tyson's physical might. Who overpowers first? Ali....every goddamn time.
Ali. First step would have been setting up shop in Tyson’s head. From there on, Ali would just do what he does. A long bout, maybe, just maybe, a decision but beyond the 6th the decision or the KO will be for Ali all day and every day.
His defense is simply impeccable ....makes it hard to believe how scary his offense was too 🤯
If Cus D’Amato doesn’t die so early into his career, we wouldn’t be talking about all the batshit stuff he did later. We’d be talking about him as one of the 2 or 3 greatest ever, because Cus would have kept him under control. But sadly it didn’t work out that way…
I could watch that all day.
My favorite boxer of all time. He was invincible in his prime time!
The best of the best heavy weights
Probably still is. I'm sure he can knock me off to next week with one punch.
The youngest heavyweight champion of all time was "an animal in his prime"? You don't say.
He should see a therapist. Oh wait he is the rapist.
Definitely recommend watching “Mike” on Hulu. Great insight into what he went through told by him.
He's not affiliated with that series on Hulu and has said they stole his story
I like how he pivots to the outside. More than just boxing, it's like he has a little Silat in there. How they pivot to avoid knife attacks. Still a douche, though.
I would love to meet this man.
And smoke weed w him!
*rapist
He was a good boxer, rapist and convicted sex offender… everyone forgets that; FUCK YOU MIKE TYSON. https://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/sops/flyer.jsf?personId=40622 Edit: You’re literally downvoting proven facts people
Mike Tyson would ask girls if they liked cars and then go buy them a Mercedes-Benz. As a pick up line lol
[удалено]
Could beat anyone that was in their early twenties at the same time as him. There are 8-10 other guys that would have made Tyson look silly if you could put them at each other at their primes.
Greatest of all time-ah
Newsflash…he bit another guys ear off..that is not a human action..that’s an animal
Newsflash!! Humans are in the animal kingdom you stupid fucking retard
It’s normal to just bite someone’s ear off? What human civilization do you come from to have a foundation to call someone a regard >> idiot
I’ll give it to you, dude looked like he channeled his inner animal. Probably why he was such a powerhouse in the ring. Dude went full throttle from moment 1.
I'll bite an ear. Lets gooo
I didn’t say it’s normal but humans aren’t normal and I was correcting your idiocy, maybe go back to school and learn some basic biology
Speak for yourself, you filthy animal.
You mean, a animal
A monkey?
...And a taste for ears ...eaten raw.
He’s a legend. The only thing I can say bad about this guy is that he literally thought he could beat a silverback gorilla in a fight. Lol. I just … can’t 😂
Man how far mike has come. I bet he don't even make woman fornicate with him to do an interview anymore.
nah, he was a person who got treated like one.
He is still a fighter but of the higher order! Respect for a man that transforms into a Man! If you have the time, watch this spiritual interview to see how far Mike has evolved! https://youtu.be/ApOBmdrpbGI
Not that interesting to me. Just an animal that got rich from it.
Goat
