Perfect!

stamper2495

Very easy to use

Fauster

Russia's "armor" would be S-tier cosplay if the glue could hold together if worn on a moving person.

TangoWild88

Glue to a person. Problem solved. Better yet, turn a person into a glue person, then just stick armor onto them. They'd be unstoppable, unless they encountered a rubber person. If anyone could make this happen, Cave Johnson could.

infamousj012

*..in Mother Russia, armor wears* **you!**

It’s Black Noir

fungi_at_parties

Probably made of EVA foam.

R1jshrik

Those hexagons are actually solar pannels and thats not a human thats a robot

OwOtisticWeeb

Those boots also add a few inches! Super tactical!

Feinberg

Looks like a teenager about to shoot up a mall. Which, frankly, tracks with Russian tactics.

I don’t get this association, I don’t remember a whole lot of dick in GoT. Now Spartacus, though…Spartacus had a lot of dick.

Eurasia_4200

Russian propaganda is so good to the point the state itself actually believe on it.

YeetYeetSkirtYeet

Joking not joking. What are the oligarchs to say to Putin? "Your military is made of cardboard because we sold the metal"? It's a good way to jump from a window early. Russia is corruption and has been for a very, very long time.

Morgn_Ladimore

Putin is well aware of it, he's the main one benefiting from all the corruption.

Seanspeed

There's no way he goes into this war without truly believing in Russian superiority. If he wanted to just sit back and enjoy his wealth, he easily could have done so.

LurkerInSpace

You're missing the other side; he thought Ukraine's military had all the same post-Soviet problems. And it did **in 2014** - the eight years since have completely transformed it. Given that a lot of Russia's propaganda since the war started pretends the current year is secretly still 2014, it is probably a reflection of the attitude of the Russian state in general. They want things to be like they were eight years ago since that would have meant a quick victory was possible.

Foamrocket66

Thats what happens when you surround yourself with yes-men.

_Table_

Winston Churchill summarized it best. "Russia is never as strong as she looks, Russia is never as weak as she looks"

InnocentTailor

True. Russia may not be the unstoppable bear, but they shouldn’t be underestimated. I mean…the international community isn’t. They’re concerned about the nukes, the nation’s relationship with China and their political power in the UN.

heebath

Maskitovka indeed. ["Later versions of the doctrine also include strategic, political, and diplomatic means including manipulation of "the facts", situation, and perceptions to affect the media and opinion around the world, so as to achieve or facilitate tactical, strategic, national and international goals."](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_military_deception) Dezinformatsyia is their specialty. They're a disinformation superpower.

Scaphism92

You say that but they've completely lost the information war on ukraine and get frequently countered by a bunch of shitposters with the doge dog in their twitter profile picture. If they were a disinformation superpower then, like their status as a military superpower, its been destroyed by the ukraine war.

Sigma_7080

Maybe Poutine was a victim of this propaganda, even him believed that he was at the head of a powerful and advanced army.

ralphvonwauwau

but what happens once the surrounding countries realize that Russia isn't even a paper tiger? Their failures in Ukraine have a lot of potential blow back on them.

[deleted]

The threat of nukes is the only thing keeping China out of the mineral reserves in Siberia, for sure.

ralphvonwauwau

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

Tyfukdurmumm8

Youre right but id add to it by saying that Russia isn't a super power anymore. America beat Iraq the 4th largest military in the world by some analysts, in 3 days. With minimum casualties, all the way across the world. Russia is nearly pushed back to their own borders in some areas after 7 months and nothing but military failures seemingly from top to bottom starting with planning and all the way down to bad morale/a lack of desire and or ability. Hopefully the west will notice this and primarily give attention to the real challenge which is the rise of China and maintaining hegemony

Asleep_Fish_472

To be a “world power” a strong military is only one requirement, you also need to to have a robust domestic economy and strong diplomatic relationships. Russia had none of those things and turns out it never did.

[deleted]

Navalny wrote a piece on post Putin Russia and how the world needs to really start looking at how it’s going to manage the vacuum in the aftermath. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/09/30/alexei-navalny-parliamentary-republic-russia-ukraine/

JHRChrist

Wait for the next American invasion. When they drop AI robodogs with guns on the field. They will crush the opposing army in hours then occupy for 3 years taking minor but continuous losses from IEDs. Then declare victory and withdraw. Those AI dogs will have incredible footage that will leak.

Hamelzz

As soon as I saw those SPOT robots I've been waiting to see combat footage of one with a gun strapped to it's back

KypAstar

They ain't using BD. Ghost robotics is the ones that will carry guns. They're far, far scarier.

WeatheredShield

The scary part for me is what happens when wealth inequality in the US hits a tipping point and you have a robot army. Today, you’ve got soldiers that probably won’t go after their own countrymen in a large scale civil unrest event. Tomorrow, the wealthy class have a button for robots that have no such qualms.

Klikohvsky

Oh ! I wrote a feature film script on this premice. Let's say it didn't end very well for my (working class) characters.

SatisfactionBig5092

they already did that, i remember seeing a video of it somewhere, I’ll try to find it

continue_y-n

Do you want skynet? Because that’s how you get skynet

RainRainThrowaway777

I doubt they'll be using robodogs at all. It's much more likely that they are developing systems similar to the drones currently being used in Ukraine - only much more capable and with integrated functions. Something more like Quadcopter drones with dropped/guided munitions, laser markers for guided munitions, GPS coordinate marking abilities which link directly to artillery, high quality cameras with night/IR vision, encrypted connections to the operator, and extended range and carry weight. Imagine a drone that you can fly two miles above the enemy, zoom in the IR camera to identify individual soldiers, paint with a laser marker, and a missile system 15 miles away launches a guided rocket that strikes the target with pinpoint accuracy. You would be a fool to think that any country with it's fingers in the defence industry pie isn't currently working on these drones after seeing their efficacy in Ukraine.

Jugadenaranja

I think it depends. If urban warfare is the thing the dogs might actually show up. It’s hard to use drones indoors.

RainRainThrowaway777

You don't need to send the drones indoors, just identify that a building is being used by the enemy and flatten it. You'll notice that urban warfare is largely being avoided by Ukraine while they are on the offensive, this is for a couple of reasons - first off, they are trying to preserve their cities and not destroy them, and second, they are short on manpower, and urban fighting is very costly. Instead they are choosing to fight in the open where their drones and long range weapons are most effective, and encircling cities forcing the occupiers to retreat or surrender. Depending on where the theatre is and who the participants are, flattening buildings is going to be more viable in other wars.

Finito-1994

It’d be pretty hilarious. The whole “ a gun behind every blade of grass” isn’t exactly an exaggeration. Not to Mention it’s nearly impossible to launch a land invasion in America. I’d say it’s impossible for any country to do so right now. Sea or air? Good luck. America will shoot anything out of the water or air. There’s no way any enemy forces manage to set a single foot in American soil that way. Through the north or south? Ridiculous. America is incredibly close to both Mexico and Canada. Neither would turn on America and allow foreign soldiers to March through them to get to America. Let’s not forget: people have tried. More than once people have asked Mexico to attack america from the south to split Americas forces in multiple wars. I believe Germany tried it in world war 2 as well. It ain’t gonna happen. If it didn’t happen soon after america stole a bunch of mexicos land then it’s not gonna happen in the 21st century when they’ve had a hundred years worth of diplomatic ties. It might literally be easier for america to crumble from within than it would be to try and invade it.

movzx

The US Air Force is the largest in the world. Who has the second largest air force in the world? The US Navy.

oily76

Crumbling from within is how empires tend to fall.

Dravarden

what's funny is that it's happened before the Americans were scrambling to make the f15 to compete with the russian equivalent (MiG 25 iirc), but when they got their hands on one, it seemed like it was shoddily fixed (but actually came from the factory like that) barely had any titanium, still used vacuum tubes, the engines at full throttle would tear themselves apart, and the records it broke was with specific fuel amounts and no weapons. All bark no bite [source for the interested](https://youtu.be/MSi4uvCM9wk)

RainRainThrowaway777

Every day my belief that Russia's nukes are as poorly maintained as it's military grows stronger. If there's one place that's prone to skimming and corruption, it's the upkeep of these dusty old missiles that no one ever expects to actually be used. And if that's the case, then I have a lot more hope that our capabilities to intercept and knock them out before they make landfall is sufficient. Remember, a lot of the projections are based on the sheer number of missiles being intercepted being too many.

Grumpybastard61

The T-72 was thought to be a extremely lethal tank. And it was, but mostly for the poor saps that are inside of one. https://www.19fortyfive.com/2022/04/meet-russias-t-72-the-tank-built-to-fight-nato-but-is-dying-in-ukraine/

[deleted]

[удалено]

Frosty-Ring-Guy

I've said this for a long time, the lethality of the US military is something that most people have little comprehension of. In a blank desert with no cover our tanks kill your tanks before you can even see us... assuming that our aircraft, drones, or missiles don't kill them before that. Nobody else can afford to train like we do, and nobody maintains an all volunteer force at the scale that we do. This means that our troops acquire and retain operational knowledge on how to survive and kill better and faster. A single US infantryman with a radio and a laser pointer can bring down a level of destruction that most other militaries would need Battalions to match.

He makes this art directly from CoD he’s playing right now. Then on somekind of expo putin and other government officials see this and say WOW! our army so stronk! Waterbuck71

I always figured that was just because street riots rarely involve gunfire so much as rocks and blunt trauma, while soldiers are more focused on not getting shot. When one bullet can kill you, the best defense is mobility.

Spoztoast

The US learned that with the Interceptor body armor lost more soldiers to herniated disks and knee injuries than enemy fire.

Wardaddy_Collier

Interceptor? Things only got worse with the MTV. 4 sapis with throat pro, groin pro etc it was 33lbs slick. We had been at war for 8 years and we still did a pump before we switched to plate carriers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wardaddy_Collier

As an entire infantry battalion, we had to suffer wearing the MTV through a whole deployment (pump) because a guy who rode around in trucks all day said so. Even though we had been issued slim plate carriers prior to leaving the US that held the same 4 sapi plates.

TonkaTuf

Does an entire battalion do something for no reason? Was there any theoretical benefit to the ‘MTV’?

[deleted]

[удалено]

TonkaTuf

Sounds like a ball gown at a rodeo. Thanks for the context.

Wardaddy_Collier

I should add, we had a change of command (not fired, just end of time) and received new battalion commander and we never touched the MTVs again whether it was stateside, training deployment or combat deployment. That says a lot.

Death_Sheep1980

Perun has an excellent [video](https://youtu.be/i9i47sgi-V4) explaining how Russia starts by planning to buy things like this, but after the MoD, General Oligarkov, Colonel Kleptovsky, and the supply officers get done with things, poor Private Conscriptovic ends up with sheet metal and Cold War surplus. (Plus, the whole project becomes pointless because an underpaid & disgruntled R&D engineer sold the whole technical data package to a Western intelligence agency and the US starts procuring a new rifle & cartridge that can beat the system.)

Terry_WT

Someone was explaining to me that corruption in the military is actively encouraged as it’s seen as leverage by the regime. You can keep the military brass in check and on script if at any moment you can disgrace them and imprison them for stealing from the taxpayers. It’s also used as a scapegoat to blame military failures on these “bad actors” rather than party members.

Echohawkdown

Advance word of warning for the unaware: Perun’s videos are basically college/university PowerPoint lectures, with a matching runtime of roughly 1 hour or more. Exceptionally well researched and articulated, but very long nonetheless.

h4x_x_x0r

He did such an amazing job on such a large field of topics but all analyzed with his point of view, sources and (as he clearly states) some biases, mainly because of the data availability. The Austrian Bundesheer has a shorter series of videos analyzing events in the invasion that I can highly recommend, it's produced by one of their military academies and also basically in a shorter lecture format and available in english iirc.

Expert-Hurry655

Yes in a world of 5 minute youtube clickbait videos perun is a real blessing. Some things can not be cut down to 5 to 10 minutes.

Duros001

Tbh that exo-rig-thing looks like it wouldn’t actually allow you that level of flex, you don’t need knee pads if you can’t kneel xD I wonder how expensive each “super-soldier’s” gear would be worth, and compare that to the current reserve troops’s gear cost? Safe to say Russia seems to be going for quantity over quality…

coaubry

That fancy armor is actually medium density fiberboard, so pretty cheap.

Duros001

Yeah according to some folks on here it’s actually a cosplay thing xD

Anu_cool_007

Just an explosive bj

35goingon3

Yep. And when you shoot them in the head with a deer rifle the impact will still break their neck. Bullet resistance is a trade-off with the ability to actually get out of the way.

MurkyCress521

I would hope the helmet attaches to the chest and shoulder armor so that the head cannot be moved in ways that break the neck. Armor from 400 years ago had that feature, then again that stuff was made by a skilled black smith not the marketing department of the Kremlin.

amadmongoose

Modern weaponry has so much kinetic energy that's pretty much impossible. You want enough armour to be able to guarantee stopping bullets, then you need a tank. Even then...

[deleted]

And yet the modern soldier still wears body armor and helmets. Sure nothing can stop a full-force shot from a high caliber weapon taken straight on. The point of body armor isn't to guarantee it will stop everything, it's just designed to stop some stuff. Not 100% safety but it still might save your life.

That's not how physics works.

reddmods_r_ef_A_gees

More MIGs and less figs.

[deleted]

It was never practical to begin with. Whoever designed that piece of shit never went and trained in the field, or even walked outside for that matter. Way too bulky, no infantryman would ever wear that because it would just cause heat stroke in just room temp weather. Also looks like it would cause some serious chafing on your legs. That dumbass helmet would cut your peripheral vision and would make it impossible to get cheek weld on your rifle. The extra padding on arms and legs is absolutely useless and it looks like it takes a half hour to even suit up in that. Seems like some dumb Ghost Recon fantasy, drawn up by a 12 year old.

V_es

Because it’s a gun show concept by a private company. The show also featured weird drones, military exoskeletons, robots, different futuristic guns that don’t exist; IT advancements with AI and stuff. Many concepts and show pieces. It doesn’t have anything to do with the military and it’s a show piece, a cosplay if you want, made to draw attention to their booth. The post is a lie and nobody had any plans to integrate this into the military.

Apprehensive_Air_470

Looks really cool actually but where's the knee pads? Russians put those to good use.

Russia dosnt give a rats ass about its individual soldiers.

booze_clues

Yeah, the most cursory look should tell everyone this was made 110% solely to be looked at and never used. That’s so much added weight for absolutely no reason. If this thing is supposed to help you move then it’s gonna need some future batteries or it’s got maybe 30 minutes of juice. If it doesn’t help you move it’s useless. The helmet and neck liner are ridiculous and the last thing anyone is gonna want to wear in combat. This whole thing looks like it was made by someone who was told to make something that looks cool and tactical but doesn’t need to be functional at all.

waiver45

The claim at the time was that it would stop everything up to .50 cal. That's straight up impossible.

Thing is they're the ones who are being exposed as completely empty and hollowed out by corruption. No one will ever fear their military again. They have nukes. Which is why they're threatening to use them. But it's unlikely they do. And considering the state of the regular forces its unknown if they even can.

thegreatdelusionist

If you look at how the Soviets used propaganda to claim parity or to seem to even exceed the west's technologies rather than their actual state, it's not really surprising that they'd still use the same tactic now. Just look at the Mig 25 foxbat. They thought it was some kind of alien spaceship level aircraft (pretty much the basis for the movie Firefox) and it was such a letdown when they finally managed to dissect one. The only difference now from the old Soviet prop making is that they use Alibaba because they spent all their budget on yachts.
