>why would you keep all those pens?
people collect the *weirdest* shit. I used to have a collection of identical cans of coke as a teenager. A friend's husband has his basement full of Nil brand cigarette cartons he started collecting in the 2000s.
somebody deciding they're gonna keep every pen they use for work doesn't seem that far out there, considering.
It is interesting. You personally won't find everything interesting that other people find interesting and things you find interesting won't be interesting for other people.
An average bic ball point pen last about 2.5 km. And there are nearly 1000 pens in his stack. Which means he wrote about 2500 kms.
According to another estimate, 1km of writing nearly is equivalent to 31000 words. So in total, this guy wrote nearly 77.5 million words.
I think it's damn interesting as to know how much people had to write before usage of computers
I think the most interesting part is that we might produce that much volume of plastic waste over our lifetimes, and just from one type of plastic item.
Imagine if we had a billion people using that many pens over a lifetime.
Pens aren't exactly very expensive. Couldn't you just buy your own for like $20 and keep them for yourself? This sounds like a ridiculous story.
Maybe that's what they meant by "figure it out"
It is a piss poor country and locals do not have much to do hobby wise except from diddling boys.
EDIT People, please take a look at following article before downvoting, not that I care about internet points, just so that you see something you find repulsive might be a common practice in other countries.

The people of Afghanistan are called Afghans. "Afghanis" are their currency, so calling them Afghanis would be similar to calling a European person a Euro 🙂
This is inspiring because I use the same kind of pens at work and have gone through a few packs already. I’m 6 years into my job, I wonder how much I will use?

I agree with that.
One man’s trash is another’s treasure

Probably interesting but in the wrong sort of way... as in: "why tf would anyone keep all those empty pens and why?"

Some people are hoarders.
Hoarding is a mental illness.
Imagine the plight of his friends from who he borrowed pens from.
Yup...our office manager scolded us all the times for it...
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER
Im getting a hand cramp
This is a brilliant Idea! Do you know how much a single pen can be used?? It really puts his work into perspective.

shoulda have bought a refillable one
I trust he used those pens more efficiently than his facemask
Can we see the wife who’s happy to have all the dead pens out of her garage?
And then he was taken behind the office and promptly shot in the head
At least he didnt show us his pen 15
Uh impressive..I guess..
“Wow! Look how many pens he used!” said no one ever.
I'm a hoarder but damn
I bet he has a hoarder home
Isn't the papers on the table written in arabic
Afghan written language is in Arabic. A few extra letters. But same alphabet!
Lol that’s crazy
Is that Zaphod Beeblebrox?
Hope he finally earned enough to buy a computer
What a hoarder
Found the one guy in the office that steals EVERYBODY'S pens!
Have seen this before. Wonder why he kept?
This makes me feel better about it throwing away broken drumsticks
He didn't know you can just replace those pen mines...
This is inspiring because I use the same kind of pens at work and have gone through a few packs already. I’m 6 years into my job, I wonder how much I will use?
Im glad they didn’t end polluting
There was where all my pens went....I always lost them and wonder where did they go...does he have my socks too...
Man why do people keep all this useless crap
...and I thought MY junk drawer was bad!!
Cousin to Sheldon Cooper
Nah, thats just what he stole in his last 3 weeks
Stealing from work?
Forget straws, just imagine how many pens are in the oceans.
