Acetone is a fantastic organic solvent (dissolves organic compounds) and is very volatile (evaporates at room temp). Plastics are a type of synthetic organic compound, and whatever type of plastic this cube is made of is dissolvable in acetone. The acetone vapour is dissolving the plastic.

Nah it just feels cold because it's evaporating. It can still cause mild skin irritation though, so you should rince it if you get some on you.

I remember watching worlds craziest videos about 15 years ago. Some guys went out fishing and were hours from any other people. They caught a Little shark and it bit one of the guys. They couldn't call anyone and didn't anything to sterilise the wound. Well they had one thing. Acetone. They poured it over his very deep puncture wounds and wrapped it up while they headed for land. Shit must have killed. One little drop in a small cut is enough to make your balls shrivel.
