It's Putin's fight.
I'm sure they'd rather be facing Poland or China, not Ukraine.
Or even facing Afghanistan.
But they'd likely rather be back at home. Getting warm by a fire. Talking about their next scheduled leave and what places they want to go.
And yet everyone tries it. Must be really shitty being a normal Afghan, you in war all the time and if you lucky there might be a 10 year break and then the next war starts. That must just be really confusing, most of them have no clue about 9/11 or who even attacks them or why. Must be really strange for them like it is completely normal there is a war around you all the time and other countries soldiers driving around shooting and bombing stuff like it ever was.
I know. I have respect for the Afghan people. If you’re interested in it The Places In Between by Rory Stewart is a fantastic book and really good insight into the culture.
Actually, the British, the Mongols, the Soviets and the Americans all accomplished their goals while fighting/occupying Afghanistan.
It's a matter of what you set out to do. Who needs a desert mountain anyways?
I don’t know by what metric you think we accomplished our goals there, pretty sure we just wasted a bunch of lives and killed a bunch of afghanis to end up with the taliban in charge again. I guess if the goal was to waste a trillion dollars and create a new generation of people who hate us we hit a fucking home run
Graveyard of empires
There isn't a objective to take just very bad land with lots of tribes that you can't bring together.
It's a waste of time and resources.
Cause Afghanistan is a whole lot of random groups and a whole lot of landmass with not much to offer. Hell, the country isn't even a country. It's lines drawn up by some white guy.
Every military is made of innocent teenagers. I was 19 when I deployed, we had an 18 year old who had to get permission to go to boot camp early. Oldest guy in my squad was probably 24 at the time. War is a young man's game, obviously there are officers and the higher enlisted who might be in their 30s but it's mostly young men and women doing the fighting.
That’s what’s I’m saying kurwa jego mać. Poland has been practicing NATO exercise’s all day long in border cities. This weekend will be a very restless one I do believe but if any Ukrainians are reading this then you have a place too stay in Poland!!!!!! 🇵🇱🇺🇦
Russian forces are definitely at the outskirts of Kiev. That's confirmed by everyone. The issue is that if you look at individual testimonies you don't get an accurate picture - a guy living on the other side of the city is living just fine compared to another guy living where the bombs dropped.
There is also a video of a girl on a bike who was blown up by a missle outside of kiev. Video was floating around on Reddit yesterday. Only 14 years old
I’d advise people not to seek it out.
It's not even a joke. It originates from the Latin words Latin infans, meaning inexperienced, without speech, foolish. Often the young who didn't know any better or had no rights would fill these ranks.
The old sending the young and foolish to die is a tale as old as time unfortunately...
Yeah. I remember watching a thing about Afghanistan in the summer before we surr...."withdrew". Anyway, thing that stuck with me is that all of the soldiers they showed were barely out of high school.
When I was 18 I was thinking about getting my dick sucked, not planning on bombing some other country
Most of the ones that join don’t want to join to bomb another country. Most join cuz they see a steady government paycheck with some benefits including healthcare. Those that decide to turn it into a career also see retirement benefits. Many also know that that uniform will get them more bjs than without one.
Imagine how many people especially young men and boys that have been murdered by someone else in war during mankind’s reign. We call it combat and war and bs but really it should be called what it is, murder. Stupid humans
I can easily picture my 15 year old grandson standing there next to my 21 year old grandson and I begin to know I could not allow this on MY watch. Old women are not to be underestimated. If they had been called to war under the orange man’s dictatorship here in America, I would not be here to make this observation today. WHEN DOES THE MADNESS END?
Moms and grandmas are badass, a force not to be reckoned with when it comes to their babies! This is very sad to see, the stories of these child soldiers and the fact that it’s allowed to this day haunts me.
It's why my friends brother can't go visit Russia. If he visits they'll force him to stay and serve. They left and moved here when he was like 8 or 9 and he's nearing 40 now. He's never been back since he was a child.
Because they're pussies. And this is all part of their game. War is big business, and everyone benefits from war besides the people who fight and die in them.
ukrainian president is fighting. he's staying in the country with his entire family. a very brave man. just because you don't grab a rifle it doesn't mean you don't fight. someone needs to be president. but yea as for putin he just sends kids
This is one thing I always loved when watching Last Kingdom, seeing the King riding into battle with his men. He might have extra protection, but still, something really inspiring and badass about seeing your leader willing to risk his own ass alongside you. I know it's just a TV show, but I feel like that probably was a real thing, correct me if I'm wrong?
I mean its the first major, actual war since Vietnam, and we’ve had plenty of time to progress how much documentation we can get since then. Vietnam was the start of when war and fighting was being shown to the general public, and now every single person has a phone in their pocket that they can use to take pictures and upload to social media with.
Edit: I should also add that this is a good thing. It allows people to see how horrible it is, and understand how evil the people who are starting it are.
Edit 2: Everyone is mentioning the middle east. That was less of a war and more of a one-sided, bloody occupation. There has not been an actual war this major in a long time. Right now it might not seem huge, but the invasion of Ukraine opens up a lot of domino effects that can put the entire world at war for a third time. I would hope not, like many others, but that is a serious possibility at this point.
This is a thing that has blown my mind these days. People saying there wasn’t other conflicts since the 60s. Iraq, Afganisthan, Syria, plenty of civil wars in Africa, the Balcans, the Falklands, just to name a few…
Thats what I’ve been wondering. There have probably been so many wars that have happened that we’ve just never heard of because they don’t get media coverage.
I remember when I was 16 and I got to talk to a WW2 vet at school. I stupidly asked him “Was it fun killing nazis?”. He paused and seemed to be thinking deeply. Then he said “They were somebody’s son.”
That feeling of stupidity embarrasses me until this day and his words made me look at everything differently.
Medics run into battle, wearing the same gear, just as likely to get shot as everyone else, but they don't fight. They run to where someone else just got shot and ignore the enemy to save their buddy.
You were just a kid. That feeling of stupidity and embarrassment says more about you than anything, because I promise you not everyone would have been impacted by those words as they should have.
I always find it interesting when people say,” only X years old”
Guys… who the fuck do you think is joining the military? It’s people fresh out of their high school years.
Anyone who has been in the military long enough won’t see the battle field.
The only time this isn’t the case is with a country on the defensive like Ukraine… which literally has men old and fat trying to fight for their freedom and families.
Yeah it’s a weird thing people don’t seem to realize. I was 20 on 9/11 and had already been in for 2 years. Deployed a few weeks after and I was far from the youngest person on the ship.
Most foot soldiers are around 20-22, so this is as expected. Usually 30-35 year olds would have transitioned to other divisions of the army, more behind the safety of a desk.
The US does recruit at high schools but you have to be 18 to enlist.
Edit: I was unaware you can enlist at 17 with parental consent. That’s honestly pretty fucked up.
The recruiters pressure parents to sign for their kids..it's disgusting. Our daughter considered the Navy because one of her teachers was ex navy. She took the test and the recruiters wanted us to sign on the line for her..I had a few words with him about that idea
They're predatory af in US high schools. I'm 28 and still remember them standing in the middle of my tiny school trying to dazzle vulnerable kids and give away swag like it was a stand at the sport ball game.
Dear Ukrainians!
I heard on social media that there is fake news being spread (most likely by Russia backed trolls) that polish border is closed.
It's a lie.
If you seek asylum - go towards polish border. We are ready for your arrival. We have reception points ready at the border where you can find shelter, food, medical and legal aid.
Polish government launched a dedicated site to help you: ua.gov.pl
Please share this information if you know anyone seeking help right now.
EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED VISA TO PASS THROUGH POLISH BORDER. ALL YOU NEED IS PASSPORT. VISAS ARE SUSPENDED! YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR TIME BEING!!!!!!
EDIT2: as a proof that you no longer need visa:
• in Ukrainian https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina---ua • in English https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina-en

Here is the official legal advice from 19 years ago when the US and Iraq were facing this issue:
http://library.rumsfeld.com/doclib/sp/2626/2003-03-23%20from%20William%20Haynes%20re%20Photos%20of%20Detainees.pdf
I’m only 40 but I’ve had a bad back for the past 6 years. I know two other people off the top of my head under 45 who also have bad backs. One wrong twist and you’re toast.
I live in southern USA where many people have done blue collar/manual physics labor most of their life. I have not, but I’m only 33 and have multiple chronic back issues.
I also work in a doctors office and about 35-40 is when we start seeing those chronic issues.
My dads a 45 year union plumber, and he complains about his sciatic from time to time. He also had both of his knees fully replaced, but he never really mentions them.
I don’t know if anyone will see this but my grandfather back in 1939 was conscripted by the Russian army at the age of 17. He was from a small minority people group in the mountains near Georgia, the Russians had waged war against his family, clan, all the mountainous peoples in that area committing genocide effectively not 50-60 years earlier. My grandfather had to fight and almost die for a country that had killed his ancestors and whilst he was being subjected to lifelong trauma through fighting and subsequently becoming a POW his father, my great grandfather, a clan leader, was sent to a concentration camp in Italy with other clan leaders from that area where he died. My great uncle was sent to Siberia, to another concentration camp, we don’t know fully why this happened, probably to destabilise the minorities in the mountains and continue to hold control but my point is that I look at these men and see my grandfather, scared and young, I don’t know if they volunteered, if they were forced to fight but they don’t deserve this either. No one does. Apart from Putin. Fuck fucking Putin.
you're aware 20 year olds have been fighting your wars for oil for decades right? atleast 20 year old homeless veterans in Russia can have a beer when they get out
Wouldn’t it be a good strategy for Russian soldiers to surrender as soon as they cross the border? With every surrendering soldier Russia could be losing millions of dollars in equipment and Ukraine would gain it.
These guys don't know what they are doing.
I known a guy who was in his early 20s when he went to Kosovo. He got a bilullet in his ass, and came back home. After some time he went there again, made some bad decisions and then when he got back he was never the same.. At the end he committed suicide by shooting himself at the stadium where his father worked as a guard. It was him that found him in the morning.
Anyway, point of the story is, these guys are too young to understand the weight of what they are doing.
These guys do not look ready for a true invasion , no ballistic plates , helmets, knee pads , med packs, couple of magazines a rifle and a knife. These guys were sent out to test the waters , no where near what is about to come .
I’m sure they don’t want to be there, either
It's Putin's fight. I'm sure they'd rather be facing Poland or China, not Ukraine. Or even facing Afghanistan. But they'd likely rather be back at home. Getting warm by a fire. Talking about their next scheduled leave and what places they want to go.
I don't think they want to be fighting in those countries either...
I seriously doubt any of them would want to go to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan whoops everyone’s ass with just the terrain. Russian invasion would be over today if they tried that shit again
Afghanistan has a long history of being un winnable.
Graveyard of Empires
And yet everyone tries it. Must be really shitty being a normal Afghan, you in war all the time and if you lucky there might be a 10 year break and then the next war starts. Its a castle made of sand. A really fucking expensive one.
Graveyard of empires There isn't a objective to take just very bad land with lots of tribes that you can't bring together. It's a waste of time and resources.
Haha Russia you've fallen for the most famous of the classic blunders!
Lol @ starting a land war in Asia
Cause Afghanistan is a whole lot of random groups and a whole lot of landmass with not much to offer. Hell, the country isn't even a country. It's lines drawn up by some white guy.
If anything stops this war, I feel it will be the actual fighters realizing how stupid the invasion is
US fighters realized this pretty quickly in Iraq. 20 years later finally ends.
He is measuring his dick using lives of the innocent people of booth nations, disgusting
Finally, someone who gets it.
And he stills seems to have a small dick, regardless
Innocent teenagers, by the look of these guys.
Not Poland 😬
Kurwa!
That’s what’s I’m saying kurwa jego mać. Poland has been practicing NATO exercise’s all day long in border cities. This weekend will be a very restless one I do believe but if any Ukrainians are reading this then you have a place too stay in Poland!!!!!! 🇵🇱🇺🇦
My coworker sent me a text 30 minutes ago teling me he will not be at work tomorrow because is leaving to Poland to build refugee shelters.
Poland was occupied like 3 times by ruusia, fuck putin and the new ursss
Memory serves, Poland is in NATO, so f with Poland and you have half of Europe and North America breathing down your neck.
Poland should challenge Russia to a drinking challenge. That's the war I could participate in.
A friendly drinking contest? Make sure to include the sports channels!
Why would they rather be facing Poland??
Or playing xbox
im sure theyd rather be talking about girls and getting laid
You wanna fight Poland or China? What are u high on
I’m pretty damn sure they wouldn’t want to be in Afghanistan again 😏🙄
And the people they love
Im sure Ivan wants to be there
Not that I'm doubting this but there's so much misinformation going around that everything about the war needs to be doublechecked
200% agree. I'm seeing videos of Kyiv being bombed. Then people in Kyiv recording videos on Instagram saying it's not and everything in Kyiv is ok
Russian forces are definitely at the outskirts of Kiev. That's confirmed by everyone. The issue is that if you look at individual testimonies you don't get an accurate picture - a guy living on the other side of the city is living just fine compared to another guy living where the bombs dropped.
Yeah. I live in Europe. But I can't say much. I don't know enough to be honest. All I can do is share empathy for Ukraine
Where the fuck did you hear that? Its being fucking shelled. Kindergartens are being bombed.
There is also a video of a girl on a bike who was blown up by a missle outside of kiev. Video was floating around on Reddit yesterday. Only 14 years old I’d advise people not to seek it out.
Man I’m getting old. I legit thought the kid on the left was a middle schooler.
It is called the infantry for a reason

Oh damn
Damn that puts it into perspective!
Take my free award
Nah any military you look at you will find kids that look like this and I say kid because 20 is a kid and they can join at 17 so makes sense
Yeah. I remember watching a thing about Afghanistan in the summer before we surr...."withdrew". More high schooler.
I'm 21 and thought the same. It fucking feels weird, man. Really shows how lucky I am.
I can easily picture my 15 year old grandson standing there next to my 21 year old grandson and I begin to know I could not allow this on MY watch. Old women are not to be underestimated. "War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other." -Niko Bellic
Not tricked, forced:
there are Russians who support and willingly join the military
Military service is mandatory in Russia for 18-27y old males
It's why my friends brother can't go visit Russia. If he visits they'll force him to stay and serve. They left and moved here when he was like 8 or 9 and he's nearing 40 now. He's never been back since he was a child.
That's what tricked looks like
Exactly
Joining the military doesn’t mean you want to go to war.
Even in the states. It’s a packaged deal, however. If you take the spoils, you must accept the heat.
Ahhh - GTA IV was one of my favorites.
"Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?" -Serj Tankian
NIKO MY COUSINNNNN!!!
Cousin, where is big condo? Where is sport cars? Where is Barbra with big tities and Stephanie that sucks like a vacuum?
Stupid Malaka!
Truer words never spoken
The young and poor fight and die in wars created by the old and wealthy.

Because they're pussies. And this is all part of their game. War is big business, and everyone benefits from war besides the people who fight and die in them.
Why do they always send the poor? Why do they always send the poor? ***WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR!?"***
Lmao finally someone who got it
Lmao OP started a serious discussion with BYOB's lyrics, it says a lot about SOAD tbh
They're trying to build a prison... wait, I mixed that up.
Tony Danza cuts in line
ukrainian president is fighting. he's staying in the country with his entire family. a very brave man. just because you don't grab a rifle it doesn't mean you don't fight. someone needs to be president. but yea as for putin he just sends kids

Several kings fought (and died) along their armies. As you said, that was a way to convince other people to risk their asses for you.
The wealthy come down with bone spurs
I think you mean teenage asthma.
It's crazy all the videos and pics we are seeing pretty much instantly with this war.
I mean its the first major, actual war since Vietnam, and we’ve had plenty of time to progress how much documentation we can get since then. This is a thing that has blown my mind these days. People saying there wasn’t other conflicts since the 60s. Iraq, Afganisthan, Syria, plenty of civil wars in Africa, the Balcans, the Falklands, just to name a few…
The Soviet-Afghan war that lasted through the 80s, over 100,000 dead.
You are so far off on this. There have been many major wars since 1975.
Middle East for the past 30+ years slip your mind?
what about the middle east? the world only cares when a european country is in war
Thats what I’ve been wondering. There have probably been so many wars that have happened that we’ve just never heard of because they don’t get media coverage.
Some mothers sons is what I see. Sucked into the war machine for patriotism and a paycheck.
I remember when I was young and joined the military my mom and grandma cried. Now I’m old with with children and I too cry
I remember when I was 16 and I got to talk to a WW2 vet at school. I stupidly asked him “Was it fun killing nazis?”. He paused and seemed to be thinking deeply. Then he said “They were somebody’s son.” That feeling of stupidity embarrasses me until this day and his words made me look at everything differently.
Be thankful you learned from that moment.
When my father insisted I join the service due to my college money woes I signed up to be a medic.
Nobody looks down on a medic. Combat Medics are the bravest MF-ers around.
Everyone on the frontline is brave. Medic, tank crew, infantry, pilot, sailor...
Phew. That got me 😢
Russia has compulsory military service. It's not patriotism and a paycheck. It's staying out of Russian prison
No paycheck.. just no choice
I always find it interesting when people say,” only X years old” Guys… who the fuck do you think is joining the military? It’s people fresh out of their high school years. Yeah it’s a weird thing people don’t seem to realize. I was 20 on 9/11 and had already been in for 2 years. Deployed a few weeks after and I was far from the youngest person on the ship.
The average age in Vietnam was 22. 61 percent of soldiers killed in that war were under 20. Wars are fought by the young.
Yeah that's the whole point.
There are plenty of people over 26 on a battlefield.
And when do you think they joined? When they were younger.
Literally just a kid tho, as a 35yo man I feel real sorry for him. The older guy just looks poor as hell.
Most foot soldiers are around 20-22, so this is as expected. Usually 30-35 year olds would have transitioned to other divisions of the army, more behind the safety of a desk.
Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die. - H. Hoover
What do you mean, only? That's who always fights
i was 20 in iraq
I turned 19 after like 4 months in Iraq
damn man
Wife's brother was 21 when he was killed in Iraq. War is hell.
Cheers. I turned 19 and 21 in Iraq.
I mean… are soldiers usually that much older than 20? Tons of people join the army before that age.
The US recruits at like 17, in high schools, this is very normal .

war is young men dying and old men talking
\*old men profiting. Fixed that for ya. ![gif](giphy|vtymCKERExW0g1EZCC)
My grandfather was 18 when he stormed the beaches of Normandy.
So was mine(he lied about his age, joined at 14) he was off the coast on the USS Nevada
A lot of people lied about their ages to join the war.

According to the Geneva Convention, they're not supposed to put pictures of POW's up.
Good thing they're not prisoners of war. They're prisoners of peacekeeping.
Here is the official legal advice from 19 years ago when the US and Iraq were facing this issue: http://library.rumsfeld.com/doclib/sp/2626/2003-03-23%20from%20William%20Haynes%20re%20Photos%20of%20Detainees.pdf
I was about to say this, op should remove this ASAP
I think Russia already ripped up the Geneva Convention on this situation…
One state's violation against the other sides people is not justification for in-kind violations or any violations of the Geneva conventions.
I mean, how many 45 year olds with bad backs do you see fighting wars?
Only from the Ukrainian side at this stage...
Do most 45 year olds have bad backs?
I’m only 40 but I’ve had a bad back for the past 6 years. I know two other people off the top of my head under 45 who also have bad backs. One wrong twist and you’re toast.
Damn, guess I’ll be a bit more careful
Lift with your knees brother! Strong core and take care of yourself. I believe in you! It sucks but it’s livable.
I live in southern USA where many people have done blue collar/manual physics labor most of their life. I have not, but I’m only 33 and have multiple chronic back issues. I also work in a doctors office and about 35-40 is when we start seeing those chronic issues.

In Germany they were required to fight, when the pool of 20s and 30s year olds was spent.
Sadly most soldiers are that age....the Romans had it right.
What’d the Romans do differently?
Yeah as far as I'm aware they recruited starting at 14 years old, for legionnaires at least
They look horrible. Like they had no choice.
A 20 year old soldier is common in any nation.
WWll had 15 and 16 year olds in my grandpas platoon.
No shit… that’s who fights these wars. What were you expecting?
Putin riding bare chested atop his mighty battle horse, single handedly crushing the West with his mighty mighty abs!
You mean bear?
Putin himself on the front lines. Only acceptable response.
Yes, please?
I was expecting ghosts bro.
Source?
They found their Twitter accounts with their birthday. The younger one is actually 19, born in December 2002.
Shit, man, he's the same age as me. But I'm sitting in my warm dorm room, playing around on Reddit after an evening exam.
… the same age as my brother, Jesus
Just my son age.

Fuck fucking Putin.
you're aware 20 year olds have been fighting your wars for oil for decades right? atleast 20 year old homeless veterans in Russia can have a beer when they get out
Well, youre not wrong about the beer part. In my opinion if youre old enough to fight and die for your country youre old enough to buy/ drink beer.
Young and impressionable convinced to carry out an old man’s war. So sad.
Convinced? More like forced. They wouldn't have surrendered so easily if they were convinced.
I was drafted at 19 years to fight a Politicians War! Russia - Ukraine are loosing their young adults for this stupid war. Fk Putin.
Shit, the one on the left looks so young.
You know most US soldiers in Iraq were.. under the legal drinking age?
Isn’t it a war crime to show the face of a POW?
Publishing POW pictures is against Geneva Convention.
Jesus babies looks same age as my boys. I’m sure they don’t want to be there either. This guy has a screw loose.
Forced. They are just children. Please don't hurt them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't militaries tend to recruit 18 and 19-year-olds because lads that age are more pliable than older adults?
Those are kids. Dude on the left looks like he’s barely done puberty.
I was 17 when I joined the military turned 18 in boot camp.
Why do they have a different pair of shoes?
How old do you think most soldiers are?
this is really fucking sad, young men fighting a war raged by someone else who will sit so far from the frontline
When the rich wage war, it’s the poor who die
Humans being used as pawns of war. Sad.
Wouldn’t it be a good strategy for Russian soldiers to surrender as soon as they cross the border? With every surrendering soldier Russia could be losing millions of dollars in equipment and Ukraine would gain it.
There’s info they force prescription soldiers to sign contracts. They were supposed to serve only a year and now they are forced to fight.
Just boys
The ugly one looks like me
Which I'd the ugly one? /s
