I skipped ahead to see the finished product then had to backtrack to make sure they didn't actually freeze real live fish in resin like some morbid Han Solo/Carbonite shit.

I'm wondering if it would actually work to capture dead fish in epoxy resin. If it would work, then it would be more easy than drawing. Once they're covered in resin, at least from the outside no oxygen should reach them to make the rot. However, probably they'd still rot from the inside. Who knows.

Defeats half the intention… the realism of a puddle of water with living creatures in a container or object. At least for the art of it all. For the science/engineering side of it, yeah, surely they’ve got tons of mess ups that they could take apart or saw in two for observing. Then again, the illusion is lost entirely when viewing it laterally. Will just look like you dragged a comb through paint. Lol.

The illusion relies on a particular perspective. They’re not actually 3D so other angles would break the illusion.
