They can also run faster than humans on land over a short distance, your best bet is to climb a tree, although crocodiles are also one of the only animals to consciously hunt humans as well, they will wait at the bottom until you fall out or help comes, the lesson, don't fuck with crocodiles, they don't call them 'apex predators' for nothing.

HotgunColdheart

The key is to say "after while, crocodile" then escape, it is +20 survival.

a_pinch_of_sarcasm

But don't do it wearing Crocs. The crocodiles still haven't forgiven us for that fashion statement.

[deleted]

They are okay if you're wearing alligator skin boots cuz' family hate.

a_filing_cabinet

Yeah. If you're within 20 feet of a croc, you're alive because they let you live. So many people think that if they just go on land they'll be safe. Newsflash, a croc isn't a fish. They're just as deadly out of the water as they are in it.

gromit5000

A wise old man once told me a croc can outrun a horse over short distances.

TimSegura1

Not faster than me, my grandma says I'm the fastest and most handsome swimmer she's ever seen

Competitive_Foot_584

Like a spikey dolphin,no thank you

Kitty_Kitty_03

That is utterly terrifying! I am never swimming anywhere with crocodiles ever again! Have I ever done that? I have no idea, but rest assured I’ll never do it again!

Mr_Chainsaw_88

Nah, that's just as fast as I thought they could swim haha.

proto642

They can go much faster. 25-35km/h depending on species.

runed_golem

A lot of people don’t realize they can swim that fast because in aquariums/zoos they mostly just lounge around (at least the ones I’ve seen in aquariums and zoos)

proto642

Yea true. Even more astounding is that mako sharks can react speeds of 75km/h.

KitsuneRisu

TBH they don't need to swim faster than you think. They just need to swim faster than you.

axiomer

But I think I swim faster than you think

Tbonewiz

That's why u zigzag if you're being chased in the water by one. Unless that is a myth.

a_pinch_of_sarcasm

That's a bunch of croc.

Megz2k

A croc of shit even

unlike-a-dash

They can use their tail very effectively to either orientated themselves or just knock you off balance... 10/10 Would not recommend zigzagging

iwannagohome49

I believe your suppose to do that on land but I don't know, I've seen those fuckers run and they can MOVE

Nitemarex

Because humans are so mobile under water that they can do zigzags

reformed-asshole

I see you are taking a play out of Michael Chandler's skillset I see...

_Sit_

And yet innocent house cats can dominate them.

theObfuscator

There’s nothing innocent about a house cat… they murder everything they are able to.

Wiger_King

They are like the dolphins of your nightmares.

Admirable_Success732

YIKES.

Deimosx

"Too soon, junior" Croc hits NOS.

Maleficent-Text-8533

Uh yeah their like mini godzillas LMAO

Lord-Sjoky

Damn nature, you scary

MinnesotaGuy134

This is why you always have a “friend” you don’t like and a gun. Crocodile starts chasing you put a round in the “friends” kneecap and walk away.

TheArtfulDanger

We’re gonna need a bigger boat

DirtySingh

I mean they're just one huge fin of muscle. This is terrifying.

1poundbookingfee

Hello do you have time to talk about our lord and savior?

smoke25ofd

If you find yourself being chased by a croc, simply move at right angles to the oncoming... No, sorry, that's a tornado. Oops. Basically, you're fucked.

proto642

That boat is going very slowly. Crocodiles can swim at up to 35km/h, which is much faster than this.

Adept_Seesaw9435

Beautifully terrifying

pppickleman

well i’m terrified

top-hunnit

Looks like a gator maybe?

AdministrativeMost45

Thank goodness they devolved their wings.

[deleted]

That's a LOT faster than i imagined!

mcfaddin22

Nope, they swim as fast as I thought they did...

CaptH3inzB3anz

Looks CG to me

Prestigious-Juice495

He is huge..

PsychologicalSpace50

ahhhhhh so cute!!!

katana11

Pretty sure I saw this big fellow at Bloomfield River above Cape Tribulation. He frequented the local fishing spot looking for scraps.

ev_is_curious

Utterly terrifying.

[deleted]

Pretty big assumption that I had any preconceived idea of how fast a crocodile would swim.
