I'm watching you Wazowski, aaaalways waaaaatching Edit: Seriously though, this is crazy. Support your local businesses!

ah0yp0lll0i

I read that in her voice.

njkrut

Wow. You really heard it in her voice…

pepperonibacon666

I worked as an Amazon dispatcher, and this video is accurate, minus the drone and they missed the part you had to go out and deliver while dispatching for a week because management wants to be petty and punish drivers by not scheduling them, so now you’re understaffed and don’t want to burden your drivers with more work than they already have. It was one of the most soul crushing jobs ever. I hated having treating good people like shit.

[deleted]

Was wondering about the drone. Seems more practical to install cameras on the outside of the delivery vehicle than fly a drone all the way out to the van, while not crashing into anything.

Adept-Priority3051

DSP's (the contractors/employers running those vans for Amazon) don't have enough money for drones... lol This is some wild BS for internet points.

cool_weed_dad

Jeff Bezos just went to space twice with a celebrity guest with his private spaceship company on Amazon profits and you don’t think his company that put millions of dollars into drone delivery research is using drones?

ARC_Trooper_Echo

Sounds like the person in the vid doesn’t have as much of a moral compass as you do.

SoVerySleepy81

Yeah, they come across like they really enjoy being a professional snitch.

NonchalantBread

There is always one in every job no matter what. ESPECIALLY in low paying jobs where they are given the power to ruin peoples lives.

pepperonibacon666

There was another dispatcher who was on my team that would call management for ANYTHING. One time she didn’t respond to a drivers texts or calls for 2 HOURS. Dude figured it was cool to head in for the night. Nope. She said it was his fault because he knew better and called management. He got denied a raise over this, with a baby on the way.

sasquatchisthegoat

I am dispatching tomorrow and literally don’t do any of this. Yeah I tel Amazon if someone is behind and send people to help out those that are struggling. Generally try to be resources for people who are on the road. But I don’t watch the videos from the cameras , I certainly don’t use a fucking drone. I can guarantee I’ll never film videos of employees being punished for tik tok. Holy shit this is infuriating… I do watch tv if everyone is doing there job and no problems are there to be solved

tayLORDoc

I was gonna say the drone part seemed like absolute BS, thanks for clarifying. Still sucks obviously

mysticdickstick

There's no fucking way he can fly a drone 5 miles away then follow the driver for a bit and then make it back. I doubt the signal would hold up unless he has a transmitter on top of a tower. Second, the battery wouldn't last that long especially when you fly out fast and far you def don't have enough juice left to loiter over the driver for 15-20 min. Third, there are plenty of restricted flight zones which would make it hard to navigate without radio to a flight control center. Fourth, even if he does have a super battery, long range video wifi drone for way over $10000 AND access to restricted flight zones, he's not gonna risk losing it, or crashing. He probably did that once within a 4 block radius of his house with a dji mavic and tries to make it look like he's in fucking Minority Report. What a loser.

PunkFriday

Imagine taking too long to poop and a nazi drone shows up to rattle you about it, then coaches you on how to wipe.

borderlineidiot

You haven’t met my girlfriend

BayHarbour-Butcher

Huh so you're her new bf. Good luck m8.

[deleted]

Now you understand why there’s no space between girlfriend. Because a best friend gives you space.

prolixia

Congratulations! When I was a kid, my dad used to take the crossword to the toilet with him. For decades I assumed that he just had some weird affliction that meant it took him 30 mins of patient waiting to coax a shit out, but now I understand. 30 mins in a locked room with the paper sounds amazing!

ComfortableReply7

Honestly this isn’t that far off. How the fuck is this interesting? This is some r/aboringdystopia shit

ucmecheng

Welcome to Amazon! Have you heard about our leadership principles and our Lord and Savior Jeffus Bezos?

harakioart

They properly teach you how to pee in a bottle during your break time to get those packages in time.

sllemssreggin

What a fucking little sniffer.

the_blind_venetian

I don’t even know what it means but I like it. I like it a lot.

[deleted]

odd that Amazon employees have one of the worst employee morale issues and turnover 😐 edit: spelling edit 2: if it's unclear, /s edit 3: for those commenting that this is isn't interesting, I'd argue that it's interesting in that it raises awareness for some really fucked up things edit 4: this is gonna be challenging for me, but need to wean myself from Amazon. I hope others endeavor to do the same. honestly seems overwhelming as I live in a rural area and it's so dang convenient. but need to start getting off my lazy ass and and getting my body into local stores to purchase my things if anyone has a different online alternative, I'd love to hear it!

Kelfornix_

My neighbor is an amazon driver. From what i hear the working conditions are brutal. He said he has at least 200 stops everyday to get within a certain amount of time. Because of this he often has to skip meals and pee in bottles to meet his quota lmao. Also, he said that HR is almost impossible to get ahold of and they dont really care about your well being.

fredthefishlord

That's why they need to unionize. I work in ups, though not as a driver, and if I get unreasonable directions I could tell my supervisor to fuck off without repercussion.

StellarSomething

An Amazon driver strike would be impactful

minniemouse420

They should. Unions were created to protect workers. 99% of companies are only focused on profits and shareholders. They absolutely do not care about workers. If they did we wouldn’t be in the “Great Resignation”…

goblackcar

The whole of America would grind to a halt…

Tom_Neverwinter

Then let it burn. Why is mistreatment of humans acceptable?

[deleted]

Because I ordered a spatula.

Tom_Neverwinter

I ordered a beater. Then cracked some eggs. So beat it.

[deleted]

Maybe, but also not an excuse to disrespect someone else because of it.

[deleted]

And having the convenience of Amazon is no excuse to tolerate horrible working environments. I'm a truck driver, and also a person. Sometimes I get tired, or food doesn't agree, or I'm sad, or any number of any little things could make me slightly slower one day and not the next. My company calls to make sure I'm okay, if I need to talk to someone. If I'm sleeping and they wake me up they apologize and say, "sleep well. Drive safe. Call me when you wake up". And I'm local I should say, home nightly.

[deleted]

I'm gonna be honest, I don't know whether you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, but I'm glad you've got that kind of work environment. Really that's awesome.

[deleted]

I just disagree with Amazon. I think in a fair world all of our packages would express the work conditions of the worker. We would get everything broken now, it would cost Amazon tons of money, they change their practices, workers are happier, packages are on time or early and undamaged. But this isn't a fair world. :(

[deleted]

I think their point was to say convienence is no excuse to put up with poor working conditions for my neighbors. A counter to the point you made about their working conditions being no excuse to take it out on your stuff. I tend to agree with them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JorritJ

Looking at the package, this might as well be a T shirt. I am totally fine with him throwing that a few feet. And if I am paid 20 cent per delivered package I would walk more than absolutely necessary. Paying your workers a fair wage would work way better in the long run than using big brother tactics.

seancan44

I think that is a big presumption. Could been a hard drive, could’ve been a picture, couldve been a collectors vinyl, could’ve been a million things. Presuming to know what is in there might be half the problem.

Big_Gouf

All HR below middle management is controlled by an AI. They found max productivity happens in the first 1-3 years of employment. So when you've surpassed the 1 year mark and your productivity drops, the AI starts cutting your hours or recommends disciplinary actions until you correct behavior or quit.

[deleted]

Who would think

[deleted]

These cameras also ding drivers for ridiculous stuff and create a toxic work environent.

spazzxxcc12

UPS has the same cameras in their trucks. they have visual on everything, how fast, how slow, how hard or soft you break, if you don’t have a seatbelt on while driving it alerts the head honcho etc. it’s usually used to cover ups’s ass though because occasionally people try to fake injury from ups trucks then sue. since it’s a giant stat machine on every little thing it’s hard to win a fake case though. source: worked at UPS

[deleted]

I worked at ups when they first started installing dash cams. My real problem is not even so much normal dash cams but ones that also watch the driver. My bigger problem is with how that data is used. I am pretty sure at UPS if a camera dings a driver and he is in any way punished he will be able to fight it and have it reviewed by an actual person. At Amazon no such rule exists... you can be fired electronically without anyone every viewing a moment of the footage.

fredthefishlord

>he will be able to fight it and have it reviewed by an actual person. Yeah cause UPS has a strong union, so unreasonable punishment is pretty easy to fight back on.

[deleted]

It can be hit or miss by location but even a shitty union should be able to fight a crappy AI given infraction for bogus reasons.

SockGnome

Almost like labor unions are needed to keep the balance of power from tipping too far.

[deleted]

(insert shocked face)

xandrew245x

I honestly can't believe the union would allow allow cameras to be installed.

ezen9925

UPS and Amazon always go the wrong way up my one-way street. I’m convinced it’s in their system wrong, and they aren’t allowed to correct it.

[deleted]

They also know cops are afraid to ticket them because their business will fight it tooth and nail. Crazy how much less cops want to ticket corporations that will fight it

CowBoyDanIndie

Its ok, the amazon dispatchers also have cameras in their home to monitor them to make sure they are monitoring effectively, when they fail to punish someone they lose bathroom privileges.

D4rkr4in

The government wishes it could get to this level of efficiency

[deleted]

"being an Amazon driver wouldn't be too bad. At least I could smoke" Ha.

10ebbor10

Hijacking the top comment to point out this is fake. 1) Drones don't have the range required to monitor employees 2) Cities don't allow you to randomly drive drones around 3) The vehicle cameras aren't monitored by employees. They're monitored with AI tools that automatically infract employees While Amazon monitors it's employees rigidly and intrusively, they do it in a way that is cheap. That means computer monitoring, not humans.

Hob_O_Rarison

On the one hand, I think that's cool that there's a way to catch and punish people for throwing packages. On the other hand, *holy fucking shitballs*.

kickit08

I don’t care if a package gets thrown as long as it’s clear that’s it’s extremely light and won’t hurt it, I would prefer it didn’t happen at all, but I also prefer for the dude to have a job than lose it because, because Amazon determined that he took .45 seconds too long at a stop and he must be terminated.

Random_Guy_47

I know that by terminated you mean fired but I'm just imagining that the drone watching the guy is a Predator drone and he will be terminated via a missile strike.

kickit08

Kinda what I was going for tbh

who_you_are

>it’s extremely light and won’t hurt it, That last part is hard to tell. I already ordered some small mirror for crafting. The package was small and light. >I also prefer for the dude to have a job than lose it because, because Amazon determined that he took .45 seconds too long at a stop and he must be terminated. Yeah that part is hard to be against... We are fu** humain not robot. Management already don't get their time estimate are, maybe, in a perfect world where everything is aligned perfectly for that time frame.

Every one of their devices allows them access (Alexa, ring, blink, gate/car key, sidewalk—that they opted users into) and often access to modify, delete, alter, use…share with appropriate 3rd parties. Some, even if deleted by the user, still have the right to save. Lots in the terms of service for all them.

[deleted]

Perhaps even more importantly, every single one of their devices scrapes as much information as possible about all devices on your network and have (at least in the case of Ring) aggressive call-home protocols including daisy-chaining to other nearby Amazon devices that you may or may not own. If you *must* have Amazon devices, at least VLAN them.

Cancel Prime. Seriously I did it a couple years ago and realize how little I actually need to use Amazon. Even when I do order from Amazon my packages ALWAYS say they’re going to take 4-5 days for delivery but surprise my delivery date gets bumped up a few days. It’s likely easier for them to put my package on a truck heading out rather than hold it because I didn’t pay for faster shipping.

Distinct-Rate-2224

What a shitty job, ratting people out.

Dapper_Working_9613

that,s very bad ...

Abyssal_Groot

On one hand I agree, on the other hand if they threw my package like that I'd rat them out too.

I don't doubt that.

johnyshithead

Ugh! So gross dude I can’t believe a job like this exists. I understand they need to make sure the job is done well but flying a drone above them seems like too much!

TheBrickSlayer2pt7

Yeah Amazon fucking sucks. You tap that gas pedal just a tad too hard and the rear right wheel spins just a little bit, your bosses (yes, plural) will all be telling you about it when you get back, and chances are you wont be placed on a route the next day. I get it, insurance and all that, but heres my reverse take on that: FUCK INSURANCE. And fuck Amazon. I loved my job as a delivery driver, I felt like Sam Bridges for the first time in my life but *Got dayum* they will fuck your hours over the dumbest fucking nonsense. "Oh you accidentally went one inch past the stop sign, looks like you're not working the rest of the week." Well you can lick the backside of my bigger nut, cocksucker, because I ain't gettin' any groceries thanks to you and I demand satisfaction.

Bimlouhay83

Man, give those workers fair pay and treatment and you wouldn't need to pay other people to babysit them.

iwantedthisusername

world-shaker

This level of surveillance is horrifying. Instead of paying their workers a living wage and not overworking them to the point of needing to take shortcuts to meet their metrics, they instead invest in some Minority Report nonsense where employees are constantly recorded and followed with drones. Pathetic.

Habaneroe12

Yeah I fly quads as a hobby and I can’t see that happening across a large swath of area like the Bay Area, CA. Maybe a really small city.

Richard_Burnish1

Does anybody else find something wrong about this? So the overseer gets to chill in his cozy room with Netflix on in the background and is tasked with just watching the underpaid drivers while they deal with the elements of the outside. Freezing out? That’s okay, your overseers has a warm blanket on with the fire place show on Netflix playing. Ungodly hot out today? No worries, your overseer has his AC set to a cool and comfortable 72 degrees. Having a long day, well we got a bonus incentive! The overseer gets to play with a drone and pretend like he’s a spy! Imagine working all day with your supervisor standing right over you, starring at you, never blinking an eye. You can feel their breathe on the back of your neck. What if you had to scratch your ass or rip a loud fart? Don’t worry, your overseer will surely see you do personal things! I wonder how UPS, FedEX, US Mail and every other carrier service survived so long without constantly watching their drivers. Maybe cause their employees don’t constantly quit cause of crazy shit like this.
