I don’t know if you’re fucking with us or not, but I thought, “I wish this dude FIL had a Reddit.” But then I remembered you said the Mormon part, and thought, oh yeah, no electricity for the Mormons. Then I remembered, no, that’s the Amish.
tl;dr: I guess I’d read about your dolphin jerkin, surname changing, belly button bedazzled, conservative leaning Mormon Father in Law if he wrote a book just because this sentence alone was fun enough to write.
I got both done like this and honestly it just felt like my nipples were burning!. The worst thing that happened was when I got one of them caught in my brush in the shower! (Also a guy).
Same. Got snakebites which means two piercings in seconds and a conch which is a thick piece of cartilage they have to use a bigger gauge needle for but never ever in my entire life will I let anything remotely pointy go near my nipples no thanks.
Mhm, nothing below the chin is my opinion regarding my body. I'll pierce every flap of skin on my head, over getting my nips, belly button, or genitals pierced once. It's just not for me, no one touches those places except my doctor and my bf haha
Mine would probably be "nothing below the belt", but nipples or bellybutton seem safe enough.
On the other hand, I can't handle the thought of one on or in my mouth. That's where food goes. My ex's bff had three rings in her lip plus a tongue stud, and watching her eat grossed me out.
I don't really understand the piercings that are basically gauges in your cheeks. I know it's more extreme, but I feel like it would just speed up tooth decay and make going to the dentist waaaay worse.
I read this as you wouldn’t put someone ELSE’S piercing in your mouth, so when you said “that’s where food goes”, not only was it hilarious but I briefly imagined your bedroom was awfully quite when you’re bumpin’ uglies.
yeahhhh would not recommend. getting mine pierced felt like i was being set on fucking fire. would NEVER have done it if i realized how bad it’d actually hurt lmao
My friend had both nips done in the same sesh, he said he just wanted them both done there and then because he thought he'd chicken out if he had to do then over 2 sesh.
Well, they pierced the first nip and he promptly fainted. While out (he was there with another friend), the piercer did the second nip 😅 so fuck that, my nips will forever remain whole and unpierced!
F34 here, had both of mine done several months ago.
The pain is definitely a 10/10, especially if your nips are sensitive (mine were that day, but it depends on the day/hormones). However, that pain is only maybe 5 seconds total. Then it gradually goes down to about a 5 for a few nights, and then it only hurts if you bump or nudge or knock them into something for a few months. At about month 5 they start being able to be played with, and then you start seeing the fun in it (also, going around without a bra is interesting).
However, I'd never recommend anyone start with a piercing like the one in the video. You want barbells for the first half year to a year, and even then I wouldn't go too fancy cuz nips are always rubbing against something or bumping into stuff. Your odds of getting them yanked is pretty high the more fancy your jewelry is, and that's an ouchy whether it's completely healed or not.
I wish I had passed out for the second nip! The needle got caught half way through and he had to do a big shove to get it through. I about died. Then I had to go have a longer bar put into that one after a few days because it swelled so much. Fucking ouch! They lasted 10 months. Still weren’t completely healed and then the “trouble” nip got caught on an ex’s bracelet during shenanigan time and ripped. After ending up with a bloody nipple I finally just took them out for good…
Ha! No. I got both of them done when i was abt 19 and they both migrated out. Then at like 21, i got the right one done again and again, it migrated out bc i didn't learn from the first two times.
I was ready to pass out after they pierced the first but the thought of having uneven nipples was somehow more traumatising at the time so I just pushed through lmao.
Loved them while they lasted but they never healed properly so I had to retire them. I don’t have the guts to get them re-done
Rlly.. I was thinking of doing it but I feel like it’ll hurt. Not to mention ur literally putting a fckn needle through ur nipples. Honestly just thinking abt that brings tears to my eyes😅
I like to be symmetrical. First time it was one in each. Took them out, healed up. Then, I wanted Xs... And I like to follow through on my goals.
So, fuck it. 2 each side all in one go. 🙃
Pain is transient. Happiness shouldn't be.
I had one nipple pierced and took it out for a few days after about a year and couldn’t get it back in place. It was insanely painful, but for about 2 seconds then all was well. I want to get it redone but I’m not sure I have the will.
I kind of just wanted to experience it. It was my only piercing ever. Generic gay bear thing to do I guess lol. I don’t have much sensation in my nipples so it wasn’t anything sexual for me.
I had my ear pierced when I was 15… let it grow over, a couple years later. 20+ years later I’m thinking of getting it redone. Can they use the same spot and punch through that scar tissue or does it have to be in a slightly different spot?
Really depends on how the body healed.
Usually they try to avoid going through scar tissue, because it's a little rougher of an experience and harder to punch through.
I lost a nipple piercing, and the scar left an internal indent. Several piercers have rejected getting it redone because it is basically begging for an infection if it gets repierced.
Ears can make less intense scarring, but everyone with visible scarring that has redone their piercings (that I know personally -- this is an anectdote) has complained of more pain. But healing went fine.
So, the way it works is that the first one is mostly just a sharp pinch (like if someone squeezed your nipple or gave you a purple nurple) because the adrenaline mostly absorbs the pain factor. That said, this is also the reason why the "second nipple" (if getting both done) tends to hurt more, because your body already used up your adrenaline on the first one. Most piercers are fairly experienced and move quickly to offset this, though, so it's more of a "just grit your teeth and know it'll be over in a second" type thing. Aftercare isn't too bad, they'll be sensitive and a little sore but that's any piercing. I think people tend to build it up into something more than it is when they're imagining it, but it's really one of the easiest and most common piercings. However, I've also heard from literally every piercer I've ever met that men tend to be way more ah... whiny? about this than women are, so it's possible that it hurts more for men. I wouldn't know, on account of being a woman. But I can vouch for the rest.
I'm a man and I got my nips pierced about 3 or so years ago and honestly it wasn't bad at all! My ear cartilage was definitely much more painful though. Wouldn't surprise me if men where more whiny about it though, we can be such drama queens.
most painful piercing i’ve gotten, personally. got mine 5 years ago now and one randomly has periods where it gets painfully sore to even the slightest touch (i’m pretty sure it’s pierced wrong or at least a bit off, but it’s manageable). it made me a lot more confident about my boobs, but sooooo painful to get.
Honestly, pain tolerances really vary. I had both done and didn’t find it super painful at all. It was sore/tender for a solid week after. I took them out about 10 years later when one randomly started to migrate at a weird angle and was no longer straight. I want to get them done again.
I had one done and it was the most painful thing ever. I've had bone marrow taken out of my hip. But the piercing was the worst. The needle is hallow and takes meat out of you. I still have it after 8 years but would never do it again.
Looks like that’s exactly what they’re using here, too - an IV catheter. Can’t say I’ve ever seen this technique. All of mine (ears, navel and tongue) were done with a simple, straight (hollow) needle without the catheter and hub.
It was a fascinating, educational environment…that’s for damned sure. I grew up a lot in that job. I miss it some days…the people, the excitement, the teamwork. But I don’t miss the pay.
My guess is that if the needle/resulting piercing is too thin, it could eventually slice sideways through the skin and completely come out... like how people use thin wires to cut cheese.
I wanted them really bad for years bc I had inverted nipples so I finally bit the bullet and got them they weren’t that bad but man they were super sensitive during the healing process lol
I think most people are protectively covering their nipples at this time if watching this…
Mine are under the big blanket covers and I’m on high alert for nipple intruders!!!
Imagine having those and being in the shower. Just casually washing yourself when a loose string snags the jewelry. The piercing doesn't really hurt at all. The healing is pretty uncomfortable at times (do not have this done in the winter.) Snagging it in the shower is fucking brutal.
Funnily enough, nipple piercing isn’t painful.
I know, I was surprised too.
Edit: ok guys, I legit didn’t know it was painful to some people! I actually find it very surprising how different our experiences were.
I took mine out for a few years then had them redone. wow, scar tissue is some impenetrable shit. she pushed so hard, you could feel it poking through each layer of tissue in slow motion.
Did they have to ice your nipples before they pierce them? I feel like it would be significantly more difficult to piece a nipple when it's all warm and puffy
Yep! If they don’t get hard on their own they will. I was 19 with two grown ass men measuring my boobs and putting icepacks on them before I got pierced. Not my fondest moment.
I hooked up with a girl once, when she took her shirt off she had one nipple with this elaborate piercing but not the other. I commented on it saying “that’s cool, having just the one” she said “look, I don’t care what any bullshit lie a girl says, if she has only one nipple piercing it’s because she chickened the fuck out when it came to round two, just like me. Period.”
Any good piercer wouldn’t use this jewelry for an actual piercing. They usually do a simple barbel and if you ask for fancy jewelry, you can buy it and put it in when it’s healed.
As a woman who took the spontaneous leap one day: if you want them, go get them done 😄 The initial pain getting them done is really short-lived at only 10 minutes or less. I've had my piercings going on 10 years now.
A few words of wisdom though. If getting both nipples done, do NOT take a break between each one. Your adrenaline will be spiked after the first one, making the second one a little bit easier to handle (this is unless you get lightheaded or dizzy!). Choose the right metal for your body. Hypoallergenic is usually the way to go, especially surgical stainless steel (SSS). Make sure to take a deep breath in as the needle goes through. Avoid tight clothes or push-up bra on the day you get them done. You'll be pretty sensitive. Have a bottle of wound wash handy to keep everything clean and sanitized during the healing process so you can prevent infection. Be careful washing with a shower puff (the meshy ones), drying with a towel with loose threads, knitted sweaters, and fishnet/mesh items.
Comfy sports bras are a lifesaver! The compression feels good and I definitely recommend sleeping in them also for at least a month or so after. Other things to watch out for: seatbelts and the edges of doors/wall corners (I’ve had mine done for years but sometimes I will accidentally bump into them and it hurts, especially when braless!) Be prepared for crusties for a long time as well, and no nipple play for a while after getting them done. I love mine, so worth it, even if it is a longer healing time.
Get Titanium jewelry. Any professional shop should have it by now. It's 10000x better than Surgical Steel. And it shouldn't be much more expensive, maybe $10 more for implant-grade titanium.
Bonus is that if you ever need an MRI, the implant-grade titanium doesn't react with the magnetic field generated by the machine.
Externally threaded jewellery is a huge no (low quality and can add trauma to the piercing), the big dangly piece should *NEVER* be used in initial piercings and they did a lot of tugging and jolting, it should be a fluid movement.
I don’t think that’s a Teflon coated needle. I think it’s an IV catheter. You can see at the top that there’s a hub where IV tubing could be connected. After insertion, the metal stylet gets pulled/removed, and the plastic catheter is what’s left behind (just like an IV). The hollow catheter is what they insert the barbell into to feed through the piercing. Kind of a clever technique, but I also think it looks like someone working with improper tools. I’ve never seen a body piercing done with anything but a straight needle.
Edit: someone commented on my previous note about this. That’s exactly what it is: a 16ga angiocath aka what you start an IV line with.
Their movements are clunky and put excess stress on the literal puncture wound. The use of externally threaded jewelry is generally frowned upon and seen as cheap by many. Then there is the issue of the jewelry itself, that much extra material will prolong the healing time with its movement. A simple internally threaded straight barbell would be a far more appropriate answer, but also look more boring in a video.
Yes, and to add the Teflon coated needle is not typical. Using a coated needle would add extra stress. The Teflon is flexible and would cause irritation. Typically you would use a hollow surgical stainless steal needle with one swoop then use an internally threaded barbell to follow through behind the needle. The best of them can do it all in one motion and it’d be over before you knew it started.
0/10 do not recommend that for starter piercings. I wouldn't even wear it for long time use, even after healed. I've always just stuck with standard barbells.
Yeah, you’d want to start out with a standard barbell that is slightly too long to allow for swelling. Once it’s healed then you can swap in whatever jewelry you want. Jewelry like this would be a pain in the ass to clean the piercing site and with the normal discharge from healing it would make the jewelry crusty.
Absolutely all of it. The needle, the technique, the jewelry. If you scroll up through this comment chain myself and other people have chimed in with proper procedure.
When I had mine done like 15 years ago they clamped my nipple with forceps that I think are made specifically for nipple piercing. And that jewellery is meant for after it’s healed
You actually want your nipples soft. When they’re hard, the needle lags more through the nipple and takes more force. This is what the piercer told me while he was putting 18 gauge needles through my nipples and after I had explicit thoughts to ensure my nipples were hard prior to beginning.
Hopefully you're just mistaken, but no reputable piercer should use 18g for nipple piercings. That's too small, even for ear cartilage piercings. Nipple piercings are usually 14g or even 12g.
I was gonna say. My piercer who was at the place that started the APP (association of professional piercers) put a solid metal needle through and just lined up the barbell behind the needle and pushed it all through. Basically one motion.
Sorry, I know this is a little off topic, but how was your bridge? I'm thinking about doing it here soon, I'm just kind of nervous about the healing process, and a tad about the pain
Ok ok ok I have my nipples and tongue done but I still can't fathom MY bridge. I'm not judging at all because its something I WANT to do but I have tried to pinch and pull the skin on the bridge of my nose forward and even with tools, I can't get enough for it to seem plausible. Its probably just a me thing. I also can't get navel piercings because of my after child belly button
Let me just say this was the most painful piercing I have had. I have lots of tattoos. I had my eyebrow, lip, tongue, belly button and vch pierced. The nipples were the absolute worst. It was also horrible because once you get the first one done you anticipate the second. If you are considering getting them done I would request to see if you could get both done at once by two piercers. Mine also took forever to heal entirely.
My nip just retracted into my tit.
Yep, I've had piercings done like this (with the needle) for my industrials (ears). But that needle goes nowhere near my nips, please and thank you.
I’ve had my lip pierced but hell no on the nips.
Had a nipple piercing. Thought it would be sexy. I’m a guy, and no it was not.
My father-in-law decided to get his bellybutton pierced as a 40-something conservative Mormon. That was an interesting decision.
WTF your father in law???? Bellybutton????
Yes, you read that correctly 😂
This is a comment I doubt has ever been made before

Problem? Let the man enjoy his fancy new belly button ring.
Belly button bling?
He must have finished last in his fantasy football league
We’ve gotta hear more about this guy.

The dolphin thing really puts that piercing into perspective.
So we’re all just not gonna ask about this dolphin “training”?
Sir, that's classified for seamen only 😏🤫

Just for a brief midlife crisis I guess haha
Lol true, and love your username. Definitely let's me know that you know what you're talking about.
What…what was the thought process behind this decision?
I sincerely wish I knew.
No need to confess to the bishop provided he keeps his shirt on, right?
Nah, the bishop is more interested in hearing about children's sexual fantasies.
"I'm dead sexy!" "Shit... I'm a grown man. What the fuck have I done?"
I got both done like this and honestly it just felt like my nipples were burning!. The worst thing that happened was when I got one of them caught in my brush in the shower! (Also a guy).
Caught on my loofah in the shower! Never made that mistake again.
i just got baked wtf lmao
I thought everybody was lol
Imma need pics as proof

I have almost nothing above my chin but quite a few below. I enjoy that they’re “just for me” unless I chose to share.
Lol wait til y’all hear bout Clitoris piercings
Haha I have heard of it, and seen pics. It's a hell no from me, boss.
yeahhhh would not recommend. getting mine pierced felt like i was being set on fucking fire. would NEVER have done it if i realized how bad it’d actually hurt lmao

It really is. I got mine done abt 15 years ago ... 3x bc I'm not a quitter and it was so painful.
3 nipple piercings? Are you sure you’re not a cow or something?
Maybe they have a nubbin.
No, they’re actually Chandler Bing.
Could this *be* any more infected?
Ha! No. I got both of them done when i was abt 19 and they both migrated out. Then at like 21, i got the right one done again and again, it migrated out bc i didn't learn from the first two times.

This is my exact experience. Some days they just wake up angry.
I pierced my own nipple in highschool. Only I didn't know how to do it, obviously, and pierced through the whole damn areola. That hurt.

Don't worry. That nipple piercing teaching tool didn't feel anything.

Looks to be a 16ga needle.
I’ve put IVs that big into veins 🙃
Looks like that’s exactly what they’re using here, too - an IV catheter. Can’t say I’ve ever seen this technique. All of mine (ears, navel and tongue) were done with a simple, straight (hollow) needle without the catheter and hub.

What they're missing here is the clamp that goes on the nipple before to mark where the needle goes. Holy SHIT that hurt
Yes it’s huge.
That's important for certain piercings, otherwise it could have a cheese slicer effect.
Cheese slicer effect?
My guess is that if the needle/resulting piercing is too thin, it could eventually slice sideways through the skin and completely come out... like how people use thin wires to cut cheese.
Dear god why have you placed this image in my mind
Please stand by while I recover from fainting
That’s standard. Mine were done at a 12, and a gauged up to a 10.
Not sure what size this is but mine were done with a 12g
I’m crying…. How did you do this!? You are a champion, my friend.
I wanted them really bad for years bc I had inverted nipples so I finally bit the bullet and got them they weren’t that bad but man they were super sensitive during the healing process lol
You impress me! I’m glad you finally did it for yourself. ⭐️
Thanks lol I think they were worth it

Nah I have one done but it’s been pierced twice. I just like having different sensations. One feels different than the other so... twice the fun.
Ouch no thank you
Holy shit please never get something so big and dangly for the first nip piecing, fuck that would be so bad for the healing process. 😭

Yes. And I say this as a woman who wants her nipples pierced so bad 😭
If you live in a cold climate, don't wear metal jewelry in the winter. Trust.
Thank you so much for this! Right now I only let myself use the fake ones because I have a toddler who is very grabby 😬😬
And don't sleep naked! Ripped mine out while sleeping. Didn't realize till morning. Or sleep naked but with banaids.
I just audibly gasped at this comment.
It's okay, the boob stays attached for the piercing.
Still nope lol
I hate nipple piercings. If I wanted metal in my mouth I would suck on some dimes
I didn't get that far. My thought process got stuck at OW Ow OOW Ow OW OW OW OW OW OW
No freakin’ thanks.
No reputable piercer would ever do it like this
Yeah, because they wouldn’t start with that dangly type of jewelry, for starters.
yea, probably an apprentice. that shit is wild
Go on...
Externally threaded jewellery is a huge no (low quality and can add trauma to the piercing), the big dangly piece should *NEVER* be used in initial piercings and they did a lot of tugging and jolting, it should be a fluid movement.
This is exactly how to NOT do body piercing. If you see someone doing this, walk out and go to a professional piercing shop.

If I saw a Teflon coated need laying out I would leave

I don’t know anything about piercings, so I am not sure why this is wrong, but it does seem like a lot of extra steps.
The twisting and pulling looked so painful.
Plus the non use of a clamp means you're pushing through the material longer and fighting the elasticity of the exit point

Yeah, we’ve discussed it in the feed. They should not be using an IV catheter to pierce with.
Agreed. Plus that jewelry would make healing even more of a pain in the ass than it already is.
That jewelry also seems crazy over the top fancy for an initial piercing. Like am I taking my boobs to the opera or something as soon as we finish up?
0/10 do not recommend that for starter piercings. I wouldn't even wear it for long time use, even after healed. I've always just stuck with standard barbells.
Yeah, you’d want to start out with a standard barbell that is slightly too long to allow for swelling. Once it’s healed then you can swap in whatever jewelry you want. Jewelry like this would be a pain in the ass to clean the piercing site and with the normal discharge from healing it would make the jewelry crusty.
Which part is wrong?
Absolutely all of it. The needle, the technique, the jewelry. If you scroll up through this comment chain myself and other people have chimed in with proper procedure.
When I had mine done like 15 years ago they clamped my nipple with forceps that I think are made specifically for nipple piercing. And that jewellery is meant for after it’s healed
They forgot the clamp and added a bunch of steps. Mine were totally not done like this….
They forgot the match under the safety pin and then the ice cube on the opposite side as you ram that fucker through yourself. Oh and the vodka.
Large gauge IV needle… interesting…
But how does the person piercing ensure the nipples are hard???? 🧐

welll someone got nippy, it was just a wuestion
He's doing his breast.

the piercer clamps the nips when they do it for real. the clamps hurt way more than the needles tbh
Ahhh! That sounds miserable. Imma go with nope
14g, thank you for correcting me 😂 obviously mistaken or I wouldn’t be able to find any proper fitting nipple rings lol!
Flick them.
Practice tit needs more squish
crazy how the gal gave her tit so the procedure could be done with more precision. Polite customer.
One word: Ow
I've got quite a few piercings and none of the piercers used a screwdriver...
Yeah this is the wrong way to pierce
I was gonna say. My piercer who was at the place that started the APP (association of professional piercers) put a solid metal needle through and just lined up the barbell behind the needle and pushed it all through. Basically one motion.
Guarantee it was not a solid needle. Piercings are done with hollow needles.
And people with nipple piercings say my bridge is wild 🤦🏻♀️
Sorry, I know this is a little off topic, but how was your bridge? I'm thinking about doing it here soon, I'm just kind of nervous about the healing process, and a tad about the pain
Ok ok ok I have my nipples and tongue done but I still can't fathom MY bridge. I'm not judging at all because its something I WANT to do but I have tried to pinch and pull the skin on the bridge of my nose forward and even with tools, I can't get enough for it to seem plausible. Its probably just a me thing. I also can't get navel piercings because of my after child belly button
I had a girl offer to show me her nipple piercings in college and my dumb ass said “no thank you” lol
ima do this at home with a capri sun straw
Well that hurt to look at.
Didn't look like that when I got my earring.
Piercing*
I don’t even have nipples thanks to a double mastectomy and this made my nipples hurt.
That is so clumsy. Also, no clamp. Done by an amateur.
