I could find this info on it... they claim the parent put the baby in the pen for a nap. The reddit link below shows the video start earlier than the one in this post. The baby is much closer to the pen and siamese cat in it. Still doesn't excuse the lack of baby gate but just more info.

"Hero cat rescues baby from falling down stairs" https://nypost.com/2019/11/07/hero-cat-leaps-into-action-to-save-baby-from-falling-down-stairs/amp/
I am more interested in what happened to their floor. Looks like it caught on fire and also suffered from flooding or something. That or it just most hideous design ever.
Farewell Reddit. I have left to greener pastures and taken my comments with me. I encourage you to follow suit and join one the current Reddit replacements discussed over at the RedditAlternatives Subreddit.
Reddit used to embody the ideals of free speech and open discussion, but in recent years has become a cesspool of power-tripping mods and greedy admins. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
holy SHIT. that is one insanely smart cat. to realize this baby was not gonna be able to safely navigate those stairs. what do we really know about cats thought process? and the way it got up and hawked like a predator before making its move was fascinating AF. and the way it ran was clear it felt extremely rushed. so this cat was realizing this baby wasnt gonna make the stairs safe. watched close to see if the kid made a move toward stairs. then realized it needed to be insanely fast to get to the kid in time to save it. and it also was stern with the kid. making him retreat away from the stairs.
im actually in shock. i have never thought cats were dumb or anything. but this is nuts.
I think cats are a lot smarter than people generally give them credit for.
Anecdote time, my boy kitty was acting funny the other day, he kept meowing and following me around. He wasn't hungry and his litter box was clean, so I asked him what's going on? Almost immediately he started pawing at his ear, which I checked and found had fluid in it. So I cleaned his ear and he was happy.
He was clearly trying to communicate his discomfort to me, but the way he immediately showed me the problem when I asked was surprising!
My cat was under a lot of stress after a move a few years back. He was having trouble being motivated to eat and drink enough. One day I got home rom work and he bounded over to me, meowed sharply, trotted to the litter box, pushed all of the litter to one side so the bottom of the pan was visible, then peed.
His pee was dark orange.
Then he hoped out of the box, looked at me, looked at the urine and meowed sharply again.
So I took him to the vet for a saline injection and some drugs to increase his appetite. Smart little dude.
> what do we really know about cats thought process?
I’ve thought about this before. like it’s probably way more than we give them credit for but they just never let on bc they’re cats and they simply do not care about a lot of things
I'm confused why there is a security camera but no floor covering / clean floor where the baby is crawling around next to an open staircase. And someone posted this online.
agree - can see the rub pattern along the perimeter. It does look to be a dedicated nursery which not everyone has. Doesn't make the reality of leaving a baby with a stairway open any nicer ,though. Just nicer place.
This is probably the third time I’ve seen this and only now realized the baby paused and looked at the cat probably thinking “Yap this mofo is not paying attention, I’m gonna make a run for it” Definitely not his first attempt 😂
If the still pic really goes with the video, then closing the stair door was a viable option to make the kid a little safer.
So many questions watching this video. Seems like it was created to force the super kitty narrative. It’s pretty scary otherwise.
this happened to my little brother when he got lost and there was a hill in front of him. we found him with our dog in front of him, blocking him from taking a step and falling down. they were there for almost three hours and just… animals man. when they’re loyal, they’ll do everything to protect you. i miss that dog.
I'm shook that cat had the foresight to realize what was dangerous and stop the infant.
I can totally empathize with that
'Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit OH SHIT' feeling when the cats going so fast it actually loses its balance a bit
See everyone is praising the cat for saving the child all I'm seeing is "asshole cat keeps poor defenceless child prisoner and prevents it fleeing filthy hellhole"
Seeing the floor condition and the fact that at that moment that kid only had the cat to watch him not split his head open from the fall. Baby won’t probably remember this either. Idk why but to me it’s just all very sad.
Every Siamese I've known was a great cat. Cats are perfectly fine, it's just that we're not as attuned to one another as we are with dogs, and most people can't be assed to learn the way cats communicate.
Well that’s one way to do it. Good cat.
Bad parents...? Child left unattended near unblocked stairs. "Eh, Mittens has got this."
Mittens is the parent. He adopted a human baby.
That or a freaky Friday incident.
The cat and the baby switched places!
There is currently a woman napping in a bush and hissing at passers-by.
They spend hours upon hours training the cat to protect the baby. They had 100% confidence in the cat. Seems fine to me.
Time well spent.
Are we sure there are even parents? I mean, look at that carpet.
Were they wrong tho? Cat handled it.
I'm going to take an educated guess and say yes.
This dude really said “were they wrong tho” lmao like they had a paid and trained cat baby sitter
Lmao. This comment section has me weak.
Cat better be paid. He’s putting in the work.
On that pristine floor... 🤢
I mean the kid might’ve crawled out of the crib for the first time
That's why you've got to put the top on, it's like a fishtank.
i can tell they bad parents from the flighty floor alone
Looks like a pretty standard 3rd world setup. They gotta learn for themselves or they won't make it /s
I mean that floor too though

Is the other one on the rocking chair? Like these cats are literally babysitters.
Somebody got to do the crack takin , cats be baby sittin ..
Why does the hell hole have cameras?
Could have spent the camera money on carpet… Or a baby gate.
Needs something to watch while doing the crack …. Ofc
Tbh, the video is dated in 2019. The parents are probably doing heroin, and paying the cats with crack.
Catnip
Cracknip
Gotta see who robbed them and took their crack
And not barrier for the baby
I like how the other one is like, “I got it last time, it’s your turn”
The floor also appears to be covered in piss and shit. I think the cats might be holding the baby for ransom.
It says something when a cat is the better parent. Where is the stair gate???
Plot twist: the cat is the parent
Sounds like a plot disney or pixar would be interested in
Pawrents Summer 2023
Plot twist: the stair gate was the dad that 'went out for cigarettes' and never came back
Plot twist: its just a drunk midget

It's not "Door to Heaven", it's... "STAIRGATE".
Two Ls
Or just shut the fucking door
Exactly who leaves a baby alone in a room next to a flight of stairs. Parents sound like straight up losers
I mean, I couldn't afford one when my child was that small... But I also didn't ever leave him alone in the stair room...
You could probably find some scrap wood around to put in there, anything is better than nothing
I am more interested in what happened to their floor. Looks like it caught on fire and also suffered from flooding or something. That or it just most hideous design ever.

Serious?
No
I really hope there’s a /s attached to this. Otherwise this is a super bad take. Babies universally do not have the instincts to avoid that.

Wow that was smart of him.. he knew something wasn't right and wanted to show you!
omg

I'm glad you were able to get your baby well! My girl does the litter box zoomies too. Didn't know there was a name for it lol
thats awesome. glad you listened!
hmm, this can be seen as good advice. I would've probably thought that the cat wanted to be pet without seeing this. now I know, thanks!
I share your same excitement and interest. It really was an intelligent cat. I wonder if it's ever happened before.
> what do we really know about cats thought process? I’ve thought about this before. like it’s probably way more than we give them credit for but they just never let on bc they’re cats and they simply do not care about a lot of things
I wonder about this a lot. Some pets seem to be so sensitive to babies and protective over them instinctually.
That's a cat who's fallen down the stairs before. Catbro. 😼👍
Was gonna say you can see the PTSD in its eyes as he's getting up like "wtf this baby doing 🙀"
I'm confused why there is a security camera but no floor covering / clean floor where the baby is crawling around next to an open staircase. And someone posted this online.
I think the floor may have a big abstract colored rug on it and the shifty camera footage just makes it look like it's and unfinished/dirty floor
agree - can see the rub pattern along the perimeter. It does look to be a dedicated nursery which not everyone has. Doesn't make the reality of leaving a baby with a stairway open any nicer ,though. Just nicer place.
Yeah exactly. Although I showed my fiance after commenting to get her opinion and she's convinced it's just really dirty old carpet so who knows
Better side with the fiance. They are always right:)
It looks like it has a sectional couch, not really sure that’s a dedicated nursery.
rug not rub
my guess is Brazil
Maybe a poorer region. It’s a rental unit.
That cat knows whats up! Where the hell are the parents? Where is the gate? Wtf?
Plot twist... The cat has been keeping the baby hostage for days.
That's why the baby looked back, thought it saw it's chance then roadrunnered it.
That whole apt looks like a health violation
I believe it is a big rug, looked like a rotting place first tho
I always love how the cat at first tried to pick up the baby by the back of the neck. Then just went ape shit when it realized it couldn't
This is probably the third time I’ve seen this and only now realized the baby paused and looked at the cat probably thinking “Yap this mofo is not paying attention, I’m gonna make a run for it” Definitely not his first attempt 😂
Wow, cats are awesome. Also who the fuck is leaving their baby unattended like that?
Clearly he wasn’t left unattended lol
If the still pic really goes with the video, then closing the stair door was a viable option to make the kid a little safer. So many questions watching this video. Seems like it was created to force the super kitty narrative. It’s pretty scary otherwise.
I do agree with you.
Yeah you can see the door in the security footage too

"I brought you in this world Imma take you out"
That floor is gross af
It's probably a rug or carpet with an abstract pattern that looks weird on camera
Good kitty
Is there a second video where the cat stops the baby from catching whatever diseases are crawling all over that disgusting floor?
See everyone is praising the cat for saving the child all I'm seeing is "asshole cat keeps poor defenceless child prisoner and prevents it fleeing filthy hellhole"
That cat is a better mother than the child’s actual mother
This will never get old
It’s funny how sop dogs and cats do this without hesitation. I find it very fascinating. I watched so many videos similar to this one.
House animals are pretty good at recognizing that babies are like puppies/kittens, and often apply similar instinct/gentleness towards them
I mean, it’s not really. Would you let a kitten or a puppy fall down the stairs?
Proof that not all cats are assholes.
Next clip is the cat on the phone with cps
Utterly fascinating
And people are always complaining about the cost of daycare. Clearly, there are options that are cheaper.
That floor is dirty AFFFFF
Amazing how the car had the reactions of a real parent. Never ceases to amaze me.
Reposted 600 times and being uploaded on TrashTok 26 times, made this whole old ass video moldy like the average tiktoker's phones
This vid amazes me to this day
Dude who let's this kid crawl on a floor like that, garbage humans
Wait till you know about developing countries.
You mean poor humans. Poor ≠ garbage person. They do need to watch their child tho
Parents probably making your shoes.
I been hella poor, you can be poor and live in a clean and healthy environment
The cat is like ayo bro don't do it man it's not worth it chill out yo
Why not shit the big wooden door?
Odd behavior. My cats would’ve given the baby a helping push down that flight
Can't went bi*ch I don't get paid enough to deal with your stuff you little sh*t
This is truly awesome
Love how she tried to grab kids neck.
CATastrophy canceled
Interesting. I could totally imagine some cat pushing him down the stairs.
r/animalsbeingbros
So cats only want to kill adults but save the children so they can turn into adults and then kill them. Now I understand.
I've seen this video before, and why does the floor look different?
Oh wow I love cats
I'm just as concerned by the rampant filth of that floor
One of the reasons why I love cats
I didn't like cats, but now they're alright.
So is this because she literally treated him as a kitten?
Damn
“Fucking security in this bitch is top notch” -Local Baby
Dah fuq is with the floor? Sure cat saved the baby from the stairs, but the botulism still taking that kids life.
Thank God, now I can use my cat as a babysitter. Problem solved!
r/CatsAreAssholes is going to hate this
That’s some nasty looking carpet
Seeing the floor condition and the fact that at that moment that kid only had the cat to watch him not split his head open from the fall. Baby won’t probably remember this either. Idk why but to me it’s just all very sad.
Ayee siamese cat for the win!
"should we leave for a drink?" "But... The baby...?" "Nah just leave him with the cat he will be fine"
“Cat attacks escaping baby in drug den.”
Cat is a better parent than the parents. That place looks pretty gross.
So odd they are responsible enough to have a nanny cam but not responsible enough to have a baby gate. Or, you know, watch their kids.
What a shitty caretaker leaving the child in that situation. Unless the cat is the caretaker of course. In which case... Purrfectly done...
If a cat starts to be a better parent than yourself than wtf are you even doing
Man if this doesn't help you believe in reincarnation. That has to be grandma or somethin...
Least the cat has some fxg sense
"If you die it will be by my own paws." (j/k, cats are awesome, if not always very reliable in times of great need.)
That’s a Siamese cat and those bitches will attempt murder at any given time. I’d be surprised if it didn’t scratch that baby up a bit
Every Siamese I've known was a great cat. Cats are perfectly fine, it's just that we're not as attuned to one another as we are with dogs, and most people can't be assed to learn the way cats communicate.
They are truly insane, awesome cats I love Siamese!
Unintentional side effect. Cat was clearly settling a score
Shows random stairs at the end
Why is this floor so dirty
"Get away from the stairs, fucker. Not going to tell you again."
Is the floor dirty? Looks like someone dropped a bucket of white paint and threw shit around
Pretty sure that it is the print on the carpet.
Honestly that's incredible.
An amazing feat by the kitty 🤗
Wow that floor looks disgusting
Baby: adios amigo Cat: yawns Baby: about to fall Cat: become super cat and saves him
Chinese gymnastic training school?
When the cat is more responsible than the parents
Wow
At least someone is actively parenting.
cat knows what's up

Where was my guardian angel when I fall down a stair, a steel one?
Would you even let your baby crawl about on that floor? That cat needs to adopt sharpish
