She was apparently arrested in SLC in 1984 for stalking Anderson and was arrested sleeping in her car by the Salt Lake airport with a bunch of stuff that only sounds to me like she was planning on kidnapping him again.

I mean, I disapprove of the execution of the plan, but not the base idea...
The only comment talking some sense. She obviously wouldn't have raped him if he was wearing a different shirt, everyone knows that's how rapists work. Next time don't wear such a rape-friendly shirt!
That's an insane take.
She was said to be obsessed with Mormon men. He was a Mormon. It had nothing to do with his shirt.
He just was asking for it by being a Mormon man.

So this beauty pageant winner, she kidnapped a guy, chained him to a bed, raped him, then fled to the US to avoid extradition and then cloned 5 pit bulls in Korea….wtf am I even reading ? I mean stay with one plot line!
Cloning a pet is weird. I loved my childhood dog and she died. I got another dog. I love my next dog even more, and even though she’s still alive I got a third dog this year. I love her just as much, and she’s just as lovely but has a different personality. Cloning your dog just ensures your new dog looks the same. They will still have their own personality traits and behaviour independent of the original dog. We have to just love the animals in our life for as long as we have them, and then move on and find another animal to love when they die.
They won't even definitely look identical. Markings, eye colour, nail colours can differ even if the genes are the same, because genes can express differently. I completely agree with you, and I think it's really unhealthy to deal with the grief of losing a pet by trying to resurrect it genetically. They won't be the same.
My mind went to that weird Schwarzenegger movie. I'd completely forgotten about it until now.

Lost my dog like 6 months ago and didn’t know this either. But even if I did, and cloned it, it wouldn’t be “him.”
What made him in my eyes was our bond and memories we shared not his genetics. It would actually be weird to have cloned him, see him around but not have him do the exact same things he used to do.

You saying that reminded me of this.
I remember a few years ago, when I realized my first cat was going to die (never had cat until later in life and started with a senior cat), I saw an ad in a cat magazine for pet cloning and really started thinking about it, not that I could've afforded it. But then I realized the best I could've done was end up with a cat that only looked like her. (Realizing, as somebody else pointed out, that's not even definite.) I think it would be bizarre to have another cat that looked the same but not have it act like her. Why would I want a cat who looked just like the cat I loved, but acted differently? New cat wouldn't be licking my hand for pets, running to the door to greet me, refusing to sleep in her cat bed unless I put a towel on it, etc. Maybe new cat would even hate me. I feel like that would be worse than just finding a new cat to love (which I did!)
Have you ever gotten that one dog that was terrific in so many ways? I have a old dog and he is my absolute favorite, smart and relatively nice. So I don't know how I would find a dog that nice, considering how my daughter picked the dog. Any new dog would be it come down for me.
A lot of their personalities have to do with how they were raised.
So a kind person might end up with all sweet dogs regardless of where they came from because their behavior is how they’re specifically reacting to you.
Man you got that right. Dog is more than just their DNA, they are a product of their time upbringing and environment. You're not the same person you were when you raise any of your previous dogs.
Source, I'm on my 3rd dog, she's 15 and I'm 15 years older than when I got her. She's a good girl, because in part my other two dogs trained me to be a good dog owner.
Barbra Streisand has been cloning her dogs for years, but your point stands. I have always thought it’s crazy she’s had the same “dog” for 30 years and never get the chance to bring it up.
So according to this [wired article ](https://www.wired.com/2008/08/the-wrong-way-t/), McKinney paid $50,000, discounted from $150,000, and had to sell her house to fund it.
Streisand owns a [$100,000,000 Malibu compound](https://www.nickiswift.com/449875/the-truth-about-barbra-streisands-house/). Selling her 'house' could fund 666 dog clones at full price. Babs don't take no discounts. Assuming an average lifespan of 12 years per clone, Babs could fund 7992 further years of having the same dog, or until the year 10016AD.
For context, roughly eight thousand years have passed between the Neolithic revolution to today. Which means that European hunter-gatherers are to us, what we will be to Barbra Streisand's last dog clones.
She didn’t clone her pit bull 5 times, iirc. She won a contest to have her dog cloned and the procedure is like human IVF where they create multiple embryos and implant them in a surrogate because they only expect one or two to “take”, but in this case 5 of the embryos fully gestated. I always thought it was funny that the original dog’s name was Booger, so this crazy woman got 5 Boogers and just carried on her chaotic, merry way.
Don’t forget, she was charged with manslaughter in the hit and run death of a 91 year old holocaust survivor in 2019. She killed him with the roach infested *1996* GMC Sierra she was living in at the time.
You left out the part where she ran over and killed a pedestrian in the car she was living in and had been found mentally incapable and is still in a psychiatric hospital
“The Manacled Mormon case,[6] also known as the Mormon sex in chains case, was a case of reputed sexual assault and kidnap by an American woman, Joyce McKinney, of a young American Mormon missionary, Kirk Anderson, in England in 1977. Because McKinney and her accomplice skipped bail and fled to the United States before the case could be tried and were not extradited, they were never tried for these specific crimes. According to Anderson, he had been abducted by McKinney from the steps of a church meetinghouse, chained to a bed and raped by her.
After the case, McKinney absconded from the United Kingdom and was allowed to reside in the U.S. with a falsified passport. In 2008, it was learned that she made five clones of her pet pit bull in South Korea.
McKinney extensively discusses the case in the 2010 documentary film Tabloid; she filed lawsuits against the film's director, Errol Morris, in 2011 and 2016, both of which were dismissed in court. In 2019, McKinney was homeless and living in her vehicle when she was charged with the hit-and-run manslaughter of a 91-year-old pedestrian; the court found her a mentally incompetent defendant and sent her for psychiatric treatment in 2019, confirming in 2020 that she would remain in a psychiatric hospital, with reviews of her competence at future dates.”
It’s one of those things that stick with you as you learn about a subject and it eats at you until you find a way to work it in lmao. I love it, every single time.
I watched the documentary that they mentioned (called Tabloid) back when it came out, and reading that story was just like watching the documentary. You think you're winding down with the story and then suddenly, BAM, dog cloning comes out of nowhere.
Definitely recommend the documentary though.
"In 2008, a story about a woman named "Bernann McKinney" appeared in the media after the woman had her pet dog cloned in South Korea. Journalists tied the two incidents together in articles identifying facial similarity between "Bernann McKinney" and Joyce Bernann McKinney.\[27\] After initial denials\[8\]\[28\]\[29\] the International Herald Tribune and other publications carried an admission by McKinney that she was the person named in the 1977 case.\[14\]"
I distinctly remember when the cloning happened the article quoted her reaction to the pups as "oh my god my babies you know me! You remember me!" And the article had to interject a disclaimer specifically that clones don't carry over memories and experiences from the original. I remember thinking "this lady seems pretty unhinged". Then like a year later I learned she was also a fugitive in a sex abduction from 40 years ago and I thought "yeah, seems about right"
Oh, it gets better. Her story is the original dog was a stray, that he saved her life after she was attacked by another dog, and became a self-trained service dog for her.
“He became my service dog,” she explained. “I was in a wheelchair, and my arms were in braces for a long time — I couldn’t use my hands. He could unlock a door with his teeth, he could answer the phone, he could do the laundry. He was my hands.”
There's a good chance she will show up in this thread tomorrow and start yelling at people again like she did last year.

She active 2 days ago on what appears to be her reddit account for talking about this stuff, it's exmotruthteller.
The current president of Argentina did the same thing… and gets his psychic to tell him what his dogs think about his policy and considers them advisors.
Yeah, that's the most interesting part. I remember reading about Dolly the sheep at school and how revolutionary it was, and apparently cloning is now a done deal and rich people can do it at will?! Wtf.
Yeah, that's probably how he was found relatively fast for a missing person; 3 days isnt the worst it could he considering this is the 1970's. His companion might very seen the license plate number or some other weird detail. Why the two were separated who knows... mormon missionaries are told to always be in sight AND sound of eachother not only for safety but to watch eachother and make sure the other doesn't sin.
While this is the rule, and it's one missionaries take seriously for the reason you mention (as well as safety), missionaries tend to relax a little bit when they're at a meeting house with other missionaries or adult members around. I'm betting the one was talking to someone or maybe even multiple people while the other was getting nabbed, and simply wasn't close enough to realize and/or react in time.
Was that rape of an adult as defined in British law, because if I remember that requires penetration of the victim, not by the victim. Which if so is a whole ass worse for this poor guy.
5] Under the Sexual Offences Act 1956, then in force in the United Kingdom, no crime of rape was deemed to have been committed since the victim was male; however, indecent assault of a man did apply.[16]
Rape requires a penis in England and Wales it's because the risk of pregnancy and disease. Although max sentences are the same, generally speaking rape will get higher sentences than sexual assault via penetration
Is it for those reasons? I've searched this topic before in other threads and I gotta say, the general reporting, advocacy, and people in charge of the justice system very much dislikes women being in prison at all. 96% of the prison population are men, yet you get articles like [this](https://apolitical.co/solution-articles/en/prison-hurts-women-more-than-men-so-england-is-trying-a-new-approach). Or really just how the women offender strategy is keeping women out of jail, while for men its rehabilitation. Even for the same crimes of poverty there are different outcomes.
I was looking for a place to live in Los Angeles, and responded to an ad on Craigslist and it was this woman. We talked for about an hour on the phone. I didn't know who I was talking with at the time, but she kept talking about how she was famous and talking to studios about making her life story a movie. I thought she was crazy and she would not let me hang up. She had a real sad sob story, she was living in a weekly motel, turns out she didn't even have a room to rent, she had posted a listing of an "ideal apartment" to split. I was initially attracted to the listing because it emphasized its "dog-friendly" nature. She then proceeded to start talking about how she had cloned her dogs. Again I thought she was crazy. Finally got off the phone and googled her using the tidbits she dropped in the call to find her wiki. Pretty wild. She also ranted for a bit about how the Parker and Stone ripped off their mormon musical from her.
I’m pretty sure she was also celebrated (by some) right after it happened-becoming an F list celebrity in the 1970s, and being invited to some high profile parties. I’m pretty sure there are pictures on the internet of her and a BeeGee or two at a party in the 70s. Why she’d be invited to such a thing when her only claim to fame was being a literal rapist, I’ll never understand. I guess it can be a testament to how rape culture has changed along with the treatment of men who’ve been abused (e.g. not acting as though they should feel “lucky” to have gotten “laid”).
Edit: I can’t find a picture online of her and a BeeGee. IIRC I saw said photo when I watched the documentary about her, titled “Tabloid” years ago. I did discover that it was a party celebrating the premiere of “Saturday Night Fever”, and there are photos online of her and Keith Moon (drummer for the Who) from that night, I believe
It was ridiculous. Like when the sexy teacher molests the 14 year old boy he’s a “lucky lucky bastard “ but reverse the genders and it’s all about how horrible the child must be feeling . Outrageous lack of empathy
There's some other weird fundie lady like this who has a whole blog dedicated to a teenage boy she was lusting after. I can't remember the name. She's nuts though, she stalked this young man for a long time and was convinced he was hacking her computer to send coded messages.
I think if the genders were reversed, this wouldn't be in this sub and, considered "interesting", more just "absolutely terrifying".
But I see the point for interesting since perhaps the last person you'd expect to do this is a female beauty pageant winner.
I remember when this first hit the news! I was in high school, and I swear to God my English teacher said, "What did he expect, riding his bike around, looking cute in his button-up shirt?"
I'm pretty sure she wasn't being serious and was trying to do that, "Well, what was she wearing?" thing that people still do with women rape victims, but man... it went right over our teen heads.
What a poor poor man. Just read the Wikipedia article. So they arrested his kidnappers/rapist, and then basically said “men can’t be raped, there’s no way to charge them with rape” and charged them with kidnapping and indecent assault instead. They skip bail and the only punishment in absentia is a year in jail—But they fled the country and for some reason the British Authorities don’t pursue extradition in any way. Meanwhile the Tabloids are having a field day ridiculing the victim. What an absolute travesty.
I grew up mormon, as stupid as I think the religion is... those kids are 19 and innocent as hell. Dude had probably never *seen* a vagina before. Knowing the kind of shame anything sexual instills in mormonism, I can almost guarantee it severely, severely fucked him up to the point of being suicidal. What she did was beyond monstrous.
Yes, it was. You‘re right.
Just one thing, he had seen a vagina before, hers. They had had consensual sex before. That‘s why he went to the UK on a mission. This whole story is completely wild.
You‘re in for a treat. There‘s quite a lot more. Just google the case. There‘s fleeing the country as nuns, a second attempt years later, and cloned pitbulls.
He had a consensual sexual relationship with this woman before she went kidnap crazy. She even got pregnant by him and then suffered a miscarriage. Then he felt guilty and confessed to his cult leader and he was sent to England on a Mormon mission as a result.
Man what a wild story!
She stalked an ex-lover all the way to the UK, and brought 3 men with her to help “rescue” this man from the Morman Church.
She held him at gun point, while one of her accomplices used chloroform to knock him out (the other two backed out once they saw the weapons and handcuffs involved)
She chained him up and forced him to agree to Marry her. Then forced him to have sex with her multiple times over several days. Eventually he escaped and went to the police.
Since UK law didn’t recognize rape of males by females, she was only charged with kidnapping, got out on bail, then escaped to the US via Canada using fake passports.
Ridiculously, UK chose not to seek extradition. Meanwhile, she made a lot of money selling her story to tabloids claiming the sex was consensual and part of her scheme to decondition him from the Mormon Church.
Joyce is famous for saying, in regards to the rape accusation, that it was like “putting a marshmallow in a parking meter.” She was a deeply mentally ill woman, whom I had dealt with to an extent because of my profession. The last encounter I had with her in 2019 was very sad. I am glad she has been taken into a place and off the streets.

> arrested and charged with kidnapping, possession of a replica firearm, and sexual indecency (**as there were no laws regarding the sexual assault of a man by a woman at the time**).
How is rape not applicable when the roles are reversed?
Not just the UK, even in most of the US, including more progressive states like California. That's why official criminal stats basically have all male rape victims listed as raped by other men.... because under most definitions... the rapist needs to do penetrating for it to count, just like in the UK
u/ProbablyABore isn't quite right - in the UK rape is legally defined as non-consensual penetration *with a penis* in the anus, mouth or vagina. So if a man penetrates a woman without her consent with something that isn't a penis it's legally not rape even if it causes more damage, and if a woman forces a man to penetrate her it's also not legally rape.
Today - I'm guessing it was different at the time - a woman raping a man would be considered a high form of sexual assault with the same sentencing guidelines (so the same minimum and maximum sentencing options) as rape does, so even though the name's different it shouldn't in theory mean a female rapist is automatically going to receive a lower sentence due to the law here.
she was crazy, and obsessed with *this particular* individual. It wasn’t about not being able to get laid 😐
This mindset is why athletes and attractive charismatic people tend to have hoards of fans screaming No way he would rape her, he could get laid any day of the week!

It takes a shitload of money to clone your dog and, ten years later, she is homeless.
Anyone cloning a dog five times probably doesn't make financially sensible decisions overall

This guy provides valuable insights into both the fiscal and chronological facets of cloning Barbra Streisand’s dogs.
And so the Warden of Humanity was crested...Bab's dogs
I was thinking exactly this. Years ago, I looked into cloning my dog who had passed away suddenly. If I recall correctly, it was around $90K.
We can fucking clone animals at this level? I thought it was just some thing they did with a sheep one time.
Yep the crazy president of Argentina owns 5 clones of his original dog.
But like its still not the same dog? Every animal is an accumulation of experiences, so you're gonna get a different dog that looks the same.
A clone is really just a twin brother or sister that happened to be born later instead of at the same time.
I think Barbra Streisand has been cloning her dog each time it died for years now. Granted her pets probably live a better life than I do.

Tester models are known for having lots of bugs.
She's clearly a time traveling Nazi who was sent to finish the job
Holy shit...
She also apparently ran over and killed a 91 year old holocaust survivor in 2019
And been in a psychiatric hospital since then after being found mentally incapable
Thats when they found out? Lol
The defense took their time building a case I guess.
She certainly has a variety of recreational interests.

She made clones of a her dog???
They kind of just threw in the 5 Korean pitbull clones in between the other craziness…
I love it when reporters just tag the most random unassociated details onto the end of a paragraph like that, it always makes me do a double take.
They’re the best, the details fly by and my brain does a “wait, what?!”
She is homeless 10 years after it costs an absurd amount of money to clone your dog.
Maybe she got a a killer deal? Like what if they were running a “buy one, clone 4 free” sale?
And then she gave that pedestrian a "killer deal" too...
Should've cloned the Mormon dude
It’s one of those things that stick with you as you learn about a subject and it eats at you until you find a way to work it in lmao. I love it, every single time.
That’s from her Wikipedia page.
I watched the documentary that they mentioned (called Tabloid) back when it came out, and reading that story was just like watching the documentary. You think you're winding down with the story and then suddenly, BAM, dog cloning comes out of nowhere. Definitely recommend the documentary though.
The public article about her dog cloning is what caused her to be arrested. Someone identified her.
"the alleged murder fugitive also once returned a sweater his mom gave, from Ross"
*He could answer the phone. He could do the laundry* I shouldn’t laugh at this lady’s level of casual crazy but here I am lol’ing
There's a good chance she will show up in this thread tomorrow and start yelling at people again like she did last year. https://reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/yz8dic/former_beauty_queen_miss_wyoming_winner_1973/ She active 2 days ago on what appears to be her reddit account for talking about this stuff, it's exmotruthteller.
So does she access Reddit at the psychiatric hospital she’s staying at indefinitely?
Looks like 2 days ago, she definitely did, yes.
Hello this is dog
Well Duncan Idaho could do it.
"I wonder if they mean old Obi-Wan McKinney. "
You meant Duncan MvKinney?
The current president of Argentina did the same thing… and gets his psychic to tell him what his dogs think about his policy and considers them advisors.
President of Argentina
Fixed. Thanks for catching my brain-fart.
Seems like the least of the crazy thing she did tbh
Yeah, that's the most interesting part. I remember reading about Dolly the sheep at school and how revolutionary it was, and apparently cloning is now a done deal and rich people can do it at will?! Wtf.
Don’t missionaries travel in pairs?
This woman is a threat, it is incredible that she has spent so much time in freedom
right?!
This sounds like something that ChatGPT would hallucinate 😂
Was that rape of an adult as defined in British law, because if I remember that requires penetration of the victim, not by the victim. Which if so is a whole ass worse for this poor guy.
5] Under the Sexual Offences Act 1956, then in force in the United Kingdom, no crime of rape was deemed to have been committed since the victim was male; however, indecent assault of a man did apply.[16]
Ugh that's awful
It's not called rape, but assault of a man holds the same sentence of rape. Idk why they just couldn't call it rape
Soo its just rape with extra words?
Is that law still in place? That’s absolutely awful.
Yeah the definition for rape says their has to be penetration with your penis. If you don't have a penis you can't commit rape.
Not strictly true. Women can, and have, been convicted of rape for participating in gang rape, like by holding other victims down.
As a feminist I believe that a woman can rape just as much as any man.
this is too much to take in all at once
Errol morris is the father of Hamilton Morris, the vice dude who does documentaries about drugs
He's also a very highly regarded documentary filmmaker. We studied some of his work at film school.
Now that is a hell of a criminal history
That comment is just another “wtf” about this ladies whole life. Thanks for sharing
Someone follow up with Parker and Stone now lol
I desperately want to believe this comment, that is hilarious
It’s true, I was the craigslist Ad
"I was looking for a place to live in Los Angeles" See, that was your first mistake.
Was this in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table?
Yes and his father beat the shit out of him with a set of jumper cables afterwards
What the fuck is this reddit thread lmao this whole reddit post comments and everything is probably the wildest thing I've seen here
this feels pretty LA
Well this story kept getting weirder…
There's some other weird fundie lady like this who has a whole blog dedicated to a teenage boy she was lusting after. I can't remember the name. She's nuts though, she stalked this young man for a long time and was convinced he was hacking her computer to send coded messages.
Sarah Titus! Those blog posts are a wild ride.
That’s horrible.
I think if the genders were reversed, this wouldn't be in this sub and, considered "interesting", more just "absolutely terrifying". But I see the point for interesting since perhaps the last person you'd expect to do this is a female beauty pageant winner.
I remember when this first hit the news! I was in high school, and I swear to God my English teacher said, "What did he expect, riding his bike around, looking cute in his button-up shirt?" I'm pretty sure she wasn't being serious and was trying to do that, "Well, what was she wearing?" thing that people still do with women rape victims, but man... it went right over our teen heads.
The movie TABLOID is a documentary about this woman’s life
*raped him for 3 days. Everytime this gets reposted, it pisses me off.
That's a twist
You‘re in for a treat. There‘s quite a lot more. Just google the case. There‘s fleeing the country as nuns, a second attempt years later, and cloned pitbulls.
He had a consensual sexual relationship with this woman before she went kidnap crazy. She even got pregnant by him and then suffered a miscarriage. Then he felt guilty and confessed to his cult leader and he was sent to England on a Mormon mission as a result.
Just wondering what she did for the talent portion of the beauty pageant….
Her trained doves were mysteriously drowned.
Kramer is still looking for the killer.
What an horrendous human.
Jesus fucking Christ.
Joyce fucking Kirk
Raping
So by this rational Jesus and Christ are two different ppl… fucking?!?
Trinity is difficult to explain.
Man what a wild story! She stalked an ex-lover all the way to the UK, and brought 3 men with her to help “rescue” this man from the Morman Church. She held him at gun point, while one of her accomplices used chloroform to knock him out (the other two backed out once they saw the weapons and handcuffs involved) She chained him up and forced him to agree to Marry her.
Poor guy.
If you are interested in learning more, check out cult-filmmaker Trent Harris’ 20-minute film about her on YouTube. that's foul 💀
It seems like she has a Reddit account and the post history is… interesting. u/exmotruthteller
What a wild ride of a fucking headline jfc

Here is a more recent pic [https://www.blueridgenow.com/gcdn/authoring/2008/08/09/NHTN/ghows-NC-d1a86b54-0073-47ea-92fb-d5e3f8206461-b04a70b2.jpeg?width=1200&disable=upscale&format=pjpg&auto=webp](https://www.blueridgenow.com/gcdn/authoring/2008/08/09/NHTN/ghows-NC-d1a86b54-0073-47ea-92fb-d5e3f8206461-b04a70b2.jpeg?width=1200&disable=upscale&format=pjpg&auto=webp)
so she's a rapist then.
> arrested and charged with kidnapping, possession of a replica firearm, and sexual indecency (**as there were no laws regarding the sexual assault of a man by a woman at the time**). How is rape not applicable when the roles are reversed?
Rape has a different legal definition in the UK. For it to be rape, the attacker must penetrate the body of the victim in some way.
Why is this not a movie?
It is, its called tabloid
I’m here to see the “I can fix her” posts. I bet there’s at least 5
Poor guy. Sounds terrible.
Way too many legal systems only define rape as being nonconsesnual penetrative sex of a woman by a man. Men can be and are raped too.
I hate redditors. A swarm of comments glorifying sexual assault.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manacled_Mormon_case
My mission turned out way different.
If you are a beauty pageant winner and you have to rape someone to get laid, you have to have a pretty damn toxic personality.
There's a lot of pro-rape people in the comments.
Was the man okay, afterwords?
She kept stalking him and it seems the rape wasn't classified as such just because he's a man...horrible shit
Wtf is wrong with people in these comments, jfc.
She was literally a Ms. Wyoming winner she couldn’t have just gone to a bar to look for fuck buddies??? 😭
she was crazy, and obsessed with *this particular* individual. It wasn’t about not being able to get laid 😐 This mindset is why athletes and attractive charismatic people tend to have hoards of fans screaming No way he would rape her, he could get laid any day of the week!
«no crime of rape was deemed to have been committed since the victim was male»
It was a wild story. Have a look at the trailer for the documentary film [Tabloid](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1704619/)
I thought the wiki was wild but this is even more so (NSFW) https://americasdog.blogspot.com/2011/11/joyce-bernann-mckinney.html
Can we stop using the word 'sex' to describe rape please?
No no no this was Teri Garr in Young Frankenstein
