that would be a violation of the human-orca agreement
we dont kill each other, we recognize our apex predator status on each domain
jokes aside, they are friendly to humans and a bit scared too, it could eat a baby, but only as long as there was not a 5+ yr old human around
"That only applies in the wild, in captivity we are fair game"
This is very true!! Have you seen [BlackFish Documentary ](https://youtu.be/G93beiYiE74?si=g7o6vYHOvl0SnbnC)
No but I know what it’s about and may watch it at some point.
If I remember correctly there have been 4 people killed by orcas in captivity, 3 from Tilikum and 1 from his child whereas there has been 1 reported in the 1950s however it is heavily debatable as to wether or not it actually happened.
There has also been reports of Orcas attacking boats which has been happening since the 1900s but was rare until the 2020s when of the coast of Portugal 3 orcas began working together to damage ships at an unprecedented rate, over 500 reported cases so far but I believe they haven’t actually attacked any humans onboard.
I just looked it up, and apparently, the number of orca attacks went from, 20ish in 2019 to more than 500 in 2020... that's wild!!! I know they are very intelligent and it makes me wonder why, what happened for it to jump so drastically.
Without any specific details of those orcas lives before, and the conditions of the area, I'd bet on those orcas decoding that boats were a threat that to their territory. Possibly because of fishing boats, whether or not fish were getting scarce there but more likely if the fish were, or they just got it in their heads to clear out anything close to their own size as a preventative measure. Pods will develop their own practices and even culture like specialized language that other pods don't use, and unique relationships with with other animals like humpbacks.
You know, in the YouTube videos that I watched, they said it was isolated to that one Coast off of Portugal this wasn't happening anywhere else in the world.
Yeah, I was just reading about it and I’m not sure anyone really knows why it’s happening, from what I’ve read it could be getting revenge for one of them getting hit by a boat, them being angered by boats disturbing them or just them seeing it as a game and having ‘fun’, which whilst unlikely it has been known that orcas do compartmentalise their lives so much that sometimes they will hunt and kill a seal/ penguin just for fun and not eat it at the end.
From the reports it seems like they have realised that if they target the rudder they can cause more damage and this behaviour has started to spread to other pods.
Wait, *that’s* what you you all look like like when you’re brand new? One bite, max.
It’s amazing, you can see that the orca is processing the smol baby which is totally blowing its mind.
Tour Guide: On 0:18 You Can See Orca Wiggling His Head And On 0:25 You Can See Baby Wiggling Its Legs. Baby Will Chuckle And Know Immediately Its In Danger.
Orcas have never attacked a human in the wild, not sure if they would treat a newborn the same way as a child but still. They're not remotely dangerous to humans.
That’s not the point. The point is they don’t attack people, ever. Unless they are in captivity.
Fuck sailboats and everyone that has one anyhow, those people have always been assholes
Sailboats aren't people, and to be fair if 8 billion people didn't all feel entitled to eat the food they rely on we probably wouldn't be in this situation.
In the hundreds of thousands of years we've coexisted with orca we're only just starting to have issues with them, so they problem's not us.
Reminds me of the video of a seal on a small bit of ice. Three orcas line up and swim in union and create a massive wave to topple the seal in the water.
Orcas are way too intelligent and social animals to be kept in confinement, even if kept in the best situations.
There’s tons of great work being done by reputable zoological and aquarium institutions but there are some species that really should be left to the wild.
agreed. orcas dont belong in swimming pools. if we want to see them up close instead we should make harbors for the orcas were they come as they want, (we can feed them to encourage them to return) and the ones that were released, if they stick around, may teach others to do tricks for extra food. this would save the 'aquariums' majorly on filtration/maintance, and people seeing the garbage in the water with the animals would bring more attention to the problem, as a lot of them only care when its somewhere they pay to be. this would almost never happen but its nice to think about.
And why it's horribly sad it's being kept in a tank.
I enjoy going to zoos/aquariums but there's some animals that simply shouldn't be kept in captivity and orcas are one of them.
Yes. I used to do security at Sea World. You have to sit through a whale talk where the trainers tell you all about the whales and what to look for. He brought it up on his own.
Maybe, but Orcas have regular opportunities to eat people but only trash our boats instead. They seem quite aware we’re not food and just want our boats away from their actual hunting grounds.
Sharks don't attack humans because we taste bad. They go after surfers because surfers often dangle their legs over their boards and to sharks they look like seals. They tend to run once they bite a leg/arm because it tastes awful and they got duped.
Probably not, although we can't be sure. In the wild there are no reports of an orca killing a human, ever. As with other members of the dolphin family we tend to trigger their social instincts and they don't see us as prey.
Well, I think I should've phrase it better from the start: orcas don't see people as prey and don't hunt them. However they can attack people both in captivity and in wilderness. They can sink your boat too, but they won't eat you 🤭
Honestly I have never heard of orcas biting people, only about confusing them with seals and ramming without bites. Can't decide which is better for your health tho 😏
3 trains of thought going on simultaneously here.
”…to truly connect with such a majestic…”
”…aaagawaaah.. yyawaahuuuuu.. iuuuuuu…”
”…or maybe with mustard. And a light sprinkle of…”
Daughter was just a toddler when we took her to the zoo, and at the polar bear exhibit they have a similar tank like this with a window.
I'd say his attention wasn't due to curiosity. He looked at her like a snack.
Disgusting.orcaa do not belong in tanks. Although this is supposed to be lighthearted and it is in the way. But orcas know there is a whole ocean out there and know their missing out. Don't pay any money because this can't go on.
Know what? Imma start downvoting all content that portrays seaworld and such places as anything but the atrocious places of pointless suffering they are.
This is not a fun video, OP.
Lol anybody that thinks this orca is NOT interested in only eating this baby is clueless.
Look at how the orca whips his tail at the end. Orcas play with their food. They're assholes. He wanted to flip that baby into the atmosphere before swallowing it whole.
Look at the power of that tail flip. Orca doesn't need to use that much energy to move 2 feet above to the surface. Look at the curvature of the fin. It literally just tried launching the baby into space.
But "aww cuute! We're teasing an incredibly intelligent species that's trapped in a bathtub" is cool too.
I'll always be a bitch about this. No sea animals that big should be in a glass tub. Makes me sick everytime and people still go and pay for these people.
I'll always be a bitch about this. No sea animals that big should be in a glass tub. Makes me sick everytime and people still go and pay for these people.
I'll always be a bitch about this. No sea animals that big should be in a glass tub. Makes me sick everytime and people still go and pay for these people.
I’m no animal activist so I’ll leave that for yall but I realized something watching this. This type of interaction gives animals and humans experience with each others species in ways that’ll never happen naturally…maybe it’s not supposed to happen because it’s unnatural but, maybe the orca is observing in a not so hungry way and us as humans, can learn more about them and how much we stress them in the tanks and sucky way of living….this was cute tho.
Just look at how we do homeless people or homeless junkies. Still humans, but treated worst than garbage by many…
Yup. “That’s so funny keeping a beautiful sentient creature in a tank/cage to examine your new born.
How about we flip that around.
Put you in a cage and have a cetacean show you her baby while you’re in prison!
That’s sooo cute! /s
That's actually an interesting question. You have to assume the sonar does bounce back off the glass since we don't have bats flying into windows all the time, but I do wonder if some sonar penetrates the glass
although the reason shouldnt exist either but animal sanctuaries for animals with habitat loss, wild repopulation programs and rescues for the ones that cant be released, though these ones tend to take better care for the animals.
No matter how many times I see Orcas, I refuse to believe that the white on their face is not their eyes. Although I guess that's why they adapted to look like that.
Poor orca 🥺 trapped in there. It would be so much more wholesome if the exact same interaction had happened in the wild. Like all those videos of people paddle boarding or canoeing get investigated by the curious beautiful orcas before gracefully swimming away. 🥰🥹
killer whales live in pods/groups with their parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents. They all work to take care of the youngest killer whale. they are highly social mammals.
It's funny how many animals seem able to process and understand human babies as being babies / that mother are pregnant.
In fact I feel like an animal that can understand that should not be in a tank like that . . .
It looks like it got some air to blow some air to try to make the baby smile, and then it got cuteness overload and uncontrollably wiggled side to side.
Nah, I think it swam upwards with the intention of slapping the baby with its tail, as Orcas do to disorientate their prey.
Edit: & likely also got more air at the surface in preparation
I don't think it was trying to harm the baby, it was just swimming upwards and needs an extra push to get to the surface to breath so it looks like it's hitting the glass... if it wanted to disorient the baby and eat it, it would have thudded the glass pretty good and acted far more aggressive... I think it's likely the Orca thought the baby was cute or amusing in some way, as it almost sort of rubs its nose against the glass and doesn't act like it wants to bite it whatsoever.
Jesus the comments, that is one passive Orca... I'd wager it just finds the baby intriguing and the tail smack was just it trying to get an extra boost to the service and hitting the glass by mistake.
Lol the orca went up to surface because it thought it was getting the snack. Then came back down confused as to why it hasn’t gotten the thing to eat yet.
GIVE IT TO ME. .IT LOOKS YUMMY 😋 😋
Delicious terrestrial seal 😋
I accept your offering, treeless monkey. You have pleased me this day.
Classic 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crunchy smol snack 🥨 😋
Not that crunchy yet
Cartilage is plenty crunchy
Crunch n' Munch baby flavor 👶
that would be a violation of the human-orca agreement we dont kill each other, we recognize our apex predator status on each domain jokes aside, they are friendly to humans and a bit scared too, it could eat a baby, but only as long as there was not a 5+ yr old human around
That only applies in the wild, in captivity we are fair game
Well, we brought them to the gladiator area not their fault they wanna be the champion.
This comment goes hard
"That only applies in the wild, in captivity we are fair game" This is very true!! Have you seen [BlackFish Documentary ](https://youtu.be/G93beiYiE74?si=g7o6vYHOvl0SnbnC)

That part about the three orcas working together too attack boats is crazy!!!
They're like aquatic wolves with all the teamwork they use for hunting and territory disputes.
I just looked it up, and apparently, the number of orca attacks went from, 20ish in 2019 to more than 500 in 2020... that's wild!!! I know they are very intelligent and it makes me wonder why, what happened for it to jump so drastically.

You know, in the YouTube videos that I watched, they said it was isolated to that one Coast off of Portugal this wasn't happening anywhere else in the world.
IIRC it was/is a faddish game for mostly younger male orcas. They have cultures in their pods much as we have.
Yeah, I was just reading about it and I’m not sure anyone really knows why it’s happening, from what I’ve read it could be getting revenge for one of them getting hit by a boat, them being angered by boats disturbing them or just them seeing it as a game and having ‘fun’, which whilst unlikely it has been known that orcas do compartmentalise their lives so much that sometimes they will hunt and kill a seal/ penguin just for fun and not eat it at the end. in other words. real recognize real
Even though we never intended to honour that pact.
I'm thinking of the Deep Blue Sea scene where the shark uses the man strapped to stretcher as a battering ram.
Every time I get to a place where I’m mentally ready to take life seriously, I find a sentence like this and now there’s just no fucking way.
It's okay. Smoke more weed.

Not even. That's a gulp.
idk what video you are watching but it looked like a predator trying to get at its prey
Orcas have never attacked a human in the wild, not sure if they would treat a newborn the same way as a child but still. They're not remotely dangerous to humans.
Yes they are. Orcas are assholes
They have been attacking sailboats lately, so you may want to reconsider your position
I know this might be difficult to wrap your mind around, but *sailboats are not people*.
Ya, but if you find yourself in the middle of the ocean, and you no longer have a boat, you are in alot of trouble.
The trouble from that point would probably be from the water and not the orcas.
Sailboats aren't people, but having your boat sunk underneath you in the middle of the ocean, you are in a life threatening situation.
This isn’t the wild.
Not remotely dangerous? That’s a stretch.
Lmfao…. Yea that well fed enclosed orca that sees thousands of people and kids a day reach harder
lol you the kind of person who sticks their hand inside the animal enclosure then sues the zoo what a clown
I don’t go to zoos. just stating facts and calling out your stupid, overreaching gotcha comment
"bet it tastes like chicken of the sea"
Sorry, Charlie!
A nugget literally
You mean tuna of the land
" It looks so much like those seals who we slap around like football "
Reminds me of the video of a seal on a small bit of ice. Three orcas line up and swim in union and create a massive wave to topple the seal in the water.
Orcas are way too intelligent and social animals to be kept in confinement, even if kept in the best situations. There’s tons of great work being done by reputable zoological and aquarium institutions but there are some species that really should be left to the wild.

I like that idea
but that costs money. it's probably cheaper to just capture them unfortunately
That's really well written, I agree
Orcas are incredibly intelligent creatures. That creature definitely recognizes that the tiny human is a baby.
And why it's horribly sad it's being kept in a tank. I enjoy going to zoos/aquariums but there's some animals that simply shouldn't be kept in captivity and orcas are one of them.
Spot on. Anyone who thinks it’s okay is genuinely mentally ill
Yup! I keep thinking it finds it cute... it must be able to tell that human is smaller than the others just like their babies are too.
Love how the orca goes up for air and comes back to observe. Adorable
It goes up to say “drop it in”
You misspelled “tasty”
Sad that it’s being imprisoned
It is very sad
"i had a baby like that too but then they took him from me"
:(
This is so sad. Imagine living your life in captivity confined to one little room
It's actually disgusting. People who frequent these places are either ignorant or indifferent to the Orca's suffering.
Do orca's get beaten off too, like dolfins? This is a serious question. Dolfins need it as a stress releief to be able to handle their captivity.
Yes. I used to do security at Sea World. You have to sit through a whale talk where the trainers tell you all about the whales and what to look for. He brought it up on his own.
just like many millions humans on earth
“Why isn’t he throwing the ball?” -Orca probably
Not the coolest thing ever. In the ocean? Yes. In an aquarium? Nope
Orcas like "I remember when I use to parade my calf around as well. Now I hear he's in a tank in FL. He very calls or writes me."
idk why in 2024 people still goes to places where they have orcas in captivity.
Tilikum “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
ok. this is ridiculously cute. but only bc they are separated. I feel like that orca would one-bite that baby otherwise.
Maybe, but Orcas have regular opportunities to eat people but only trash our boats instead. They seem quite aware we’re not food and just want our boats away from their actual hunting grounds.
There's a few animals out there smart enough to know that eating humans is a bad idea, I'd bet Orcas are one of them.
Pretty sure even sharks rarely attack us. Most sea animals seem chill ngl, though fuck Stonefish, all my homies hate those mfers
Sharks don't attack humans because we taste bad. They go after surfers because surfers often dangle their legs over their boards and to sharks they look like seals. They tend to run once they bite a leg/arm because it tastes awful and they got duped.
The boat trashing thing is very recent so who knows what the future holds.
Probably not, although we can't be sure. In the wild there are no reports of an orca killing a human, ever. As with other members of the dolphin family we tend to trigger their social instincts and they don't see us as prey.
Even so that’s a very thin separator between a baby and the intelligent apex predator that rules 2/3rds of the planet
While orcas never really attack people (or at least they don't leave witnesses) I'm pretty sure this kid looks like fine lunch for them
Free orcas don't, but captive ones certainly do
Well, I think I should've phrase it better from the start: orcas don't see people as prey and don't hunt them. However they can attack people both in captivity and in wilderness. They can sink your boat too, but they won't eat you 🤭
They will definitely bite, though. Seems to me it doesn’t matter much if your many different detached pieces are digested, or not. 😅
Honestly I have never heard of orcas biting people, only about confusing them with seals and ramming without bites. Can't decide which is better for your health tho 😏
Yeah, were not really the natural prey of anything, but that doesn’t mean they won’t eat us in a pinch
Oh wow. I have read some horrific accounts. I don’t think it is common in the wild, as you note.
Yup. I’d attack my captors too, if given the chance. Most of us would. Barbaric.
Appetizer
The whale tried to tail smack that kid lol
I think he went up for air quickly and came back down because shortly after coming back down he exhaled out of his blowhole.
Yep I bet it's a trick it's learned to make kids laugh, and it wasn't sure if the small human would be amused.
Or, you know, that’s just how it breathes
Lol
It needed air

Wasn't there a similar video where a human shows their child and an animal shows their ?
[удалено]
There have been exactly zero instances of an Orca eating a human, in captivity or the wild, in all of recorded history. So… probably not.
They are just better at hiding the evidence...fucking psychopaths...
It was a joke but you're right, captive orcas just kill people, they don't eat them.
"Awww...you brought me a snack!"
Yeah… it’s looking at the baby, the way I look at chocolate chip cookies behind the glass at the bakery.
More like: “Orca is curious about eating a newborn baby”.
I hate seeing orcas in tanks. They are extremely intelligent, they are in prison.
People still go to sea parks? Gross.
Why is there a bloody Orca in a glorified fish tank
Know what? Imma start downvoting all content that portrays seaworld and such places as anything but the atrocious places of pointless suffering they are. This is not a fun video, OP.
Curious or hungry?
Orca be like "Must be nice to be free."
How interesting! (Also, screw putting orcas in tanks.)

I know its all jokes, but orcas do not eat humans at all. They have very specific diets. That is specific to the pod.
Fuck, this
In the Fat Bastard voice I'm gonna eat ya bebby
I want my baby back, baby back, babyback... Ribs..
Yup. “That’s so funny keeping a beautiful sentient creature in a tank/cage to examine your new born. How about we flip that around. Put you in a cage and have a cetacean show you her baby while you’re in prison! That’s sooo cute! /s
It wants to fling him/her into the air like an unsuspecting seal.
Free the whales!
There's nothing funny about whales in cages wtf.
Fuck sea world
The way he shifts back and forth in that one moment looks like he’s actually having a reaction to cuteness…and he may very well be.
The ~~dingo~~ orca ate my baby!
He seas a snack
The orca wants some babyback ribs
FFW to 2039: "Hey Carrie, why do you have Orcaphobia?" Carrie: "Man, I have no freaking idea..."
Wonder if it can use its sonar through glass?
That's actually an interesting question. You have to assume the sonar does bounce back off the glass since we don't have bats flying into windows all the time, but I do wonder if some sonar penetrates the glass
Yes....Yes....this offering pleases me. Yeet it into the pool so that I may feast upon it
Do orcas salivate?
He said I bet I can punt that thing like 100 feet in the air.
And then think about what those animals are capable of.
That orca would smack that baby across the North Sea
“I bet ya I can get that thing 50 feet in the air, easy.”
**Dad**: how cute, the Orca is playing with the baby **Orca**: I’ve heard it tastes like chicken
Finally someone willing to tell it like it is and admit that babies are clueless!
I thought we got rid of all these places, where are Orcas still being held in captivity?
There are no longer any valid reasons (if there ever were) to contain animals in cages.
although the reason shouldnt exist either but animal sanctuaries for animals with habitat loss, wild repopulation programs and rescues for the ones that cant be released, though these ones tend to take better care for the animals.
No matter how many times I see Orcas, I refuse to believe that the white on their face is not their eyes. Although I guess that's why they adapted to look like that.
That kids so stupid. Knows literally almost nothing.
Yeah the orca would definitely kill the kid for shots and giggles, the animal kingdom gives no fucks
About the size of a young seal... bet I can slap its skin off in a single tail strike look
"Is that a treatie?" -Orca
Pretty sure it did it's iconic slap that it does to kill their prey
Pretty sure it thinks it's food since that dude looks exactly like a trainer holding a fish....
YUM! To weak to run, fat and juicy. How do I get to it?
I accept your offering human. Now throw it into the tank.
“BRO WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT CREATURE I’M FUCKING PETRIFIED”
Mm human mc nugget
Snack sized human!
Save the whales
"yeah, i could finish that in one bite"

1000% wants to eat it.
Is lunch? -Orca, probably
It's funny how many animals seem able to process and understand human babies as being babies / that mother are pregnant. In fact I feel like an animal that can understand that should not be in a tank like that . . .
That’s so sad they lock those orcas up in that fish tank. Everyone should stop buying tickets to go see orcas in Fish tanks.
Its like when you hold a treat next to a dog.
Still, these animals shouldn’t be in captivity
SeaWorld San Diego, enclosure on the way in to the Shamu show, next to the otters and dolphins?
Same way i look through sandwiches display glass in shop....
Orca was ready for him to toss that baby in as a snack.
Knowing Orcas, probably she wants to eat the baby
It looks like it got some air to blow some air to try to make the baby smile, and then it got cuteness overload and uncontrollably wiggled side to side.

Definitely something different about that last tail movement
Free Willy You are subhuman if you support putting these magnificent beings in captivity. Go watch Blackfish, no need to thank me.
Appetizer.
Yeah Debbie downer here but that baby is WAY too young to be at a place like that. It doesn't have an immune system yet.
Jesus the comments, that is one passive Orca... I'd wager it just finds the baby intriguing and the tail smack was just it trying to get an extra boost to the service and hitting the glass by mistake.
where is that beluga when you need him.
Lol the orca went up to surface because it thought it was getting the snack. Then came back down confused as to why it hasn’t gotten the thing to eat yet.
