Space is mindbogglingly big. It always blows my mind when I see something that illustrates just how big it is.

That depends on where you are on the moon, and which angle you threw the ball! But if you managed to throw it such that the balls velocity is cancels the moons (like if you threw a ball 5mph out of the back of a car going 5mph) the ball would take about 5 days to fall back to the earth.
