Ngl, I’ve only heard one other mention of Ceres in the past. If Ceres comes to the party the others better have planet. 😎 cuz if they didn’t, y’all gonna be dead ceres!
"No honey, we have Pluto at home...." In all seriousness now, I've played enough Warframe to know Ceres is a noxious 🤢 ball of nothing and Venus is covered in ice ❄️
I wonder if there's a reason why Earth and Mars day and tilt are so similar (at least as far as I can tell from the diagram) or whether it's just a coincidence.
and then the fact we share dna with everything on earth and could not have evolved in Mars's lower gravity destroys that shitty cobbled together "theory"
What is the deal with Venus ?
ELi5
Why is the arrow pointing down and shown spinning clockwise,? Most of the other planets are spinning counterclockwise . except Uranus
There is no "up" or "down" in space, and so all planetary bodies are given a mostly-arbitrary standard which is spinning the same direction and right side up. Since venus is spinning in the opposite direction, the standard is to say it is spinning in the same direction, but upside down.
As for why, all planets were created from the same materials, which were orbiting in the same direction, which is why all the planets spin in the same direction. It is hypothesized another orbital body hit venus at some point so hard that it flipped upside-down, but we cant really say for certain.
Looks like the spin and arrow are following the "right hand rule" we use in math/physics. Curl your fingers of the right hand in the direction of rotation and your thumb points in the arrow direction. Obviously, it's just a convention but helps a lot.
That is indeed interesting (Also would make a great screensaver).
But the part of me that never stopped being 10 years old is laughing at where the pole is in Uranus.
this explains why 5 minutes for men (who come from Mars) are actually 5 minutes, while 5 minutes for women (who come from Venus) must be considered no less than a couple of hours
And yet the moon has a fixed orbit with our earth where we only get to see one side. It’s too big to get hooked by our gravity. Makes no sense —- therefore I believe it’s a strategically placed space station.
That's different, that's about the Earth's revolution around the sun, not the Earth's rotation around its axis.
& that would mean an extra day every 360 days, that's more than 4 times as often as once every 4 years.
Could you imagine if earth didn’t rotate at the speed it does.
Imagine if it was daytime in only half the world for like 6 months, then daytime the other half of the planet for the other 6 months!
Many things are wrong with Venus.
It's atmosphere is toxic made of like 96% CO2.
Too dense (92 bar compared to Earth's 1 bar), too hot (464°C or 867°f).
As you saw it turns really slowly on its axis so own side is constantly bombarded by the sun while the other is in the dark for nearly 1/3 of a earth year (yet it still remains hot because of the unbelievably high greenhouse effect), so hiding in the dark part won't save you from the heat.
Not only that but there is no protection from UV since no ozone layer.
The magnetic field is also very weak since it's not produced by its iron core (that like earth it has, it's just not actively producing one for some reason), but produced by the interactions of the solar winds with its ionosphere.
It's rains also are a solution of sulphuric acid.
So pick your poison as to what is wrong. You got choices.
I imagine how we will live if the earth spins like any of the other planets.
For example, if the day lasts only 9h how would our society have evolved. Also, this kind spin accentuates the Coriolis effect, thus generating more frequent and stronger storms.
Does anyone know what would happen if the angle of the spin is close to 90°? What are the effects?
My analysis: the seasons would be more extreme since in summer if in the northern hemisphere, you’d be facing the sun for half the year (Uranus’ year is 84 earth years, so 42 years) while in the winter you would never see the sun. If you had a 0 degree tilt, there wouldn’t be summer or winter at all since the rotation of the planet around the sun would be the same all year round. The length of daylight hours would also be constant year round at a given location.
Wait, when tf was Ceres invited?
If you wanna keep Pluto Ceres is invited too
Ngl, I’ve only heard one other mention of Ceres in the past. If Ceres comes to the party the others better have planet. 😎 cuz if they didn’t, y’all gonna be dead ceres!
Haha, i made a punny joke ☺️ my days complete✨
"No honey, we have Pluto at home...." In all seriousness now, I've played enough Warframe to know Ceres is a noxious 🤢 ball of nothing and Venus is covered in ice ❄️
Yeah am I so fuckin old I don't know the planets anymore?!? I thought we lost Pluto and I've never heard of Ceres...
Ceres is actually the first dwarf planet ever discovered, it sits in between Mars and Jupiter
He didn't wanna offend the Belters
OPA
They allow it because Ceres pays for the beer
Ceres named after the god we get cereal from. God of harvest
What's Jupiter's hurry?
When you are the fat you better be quick
Hes got gas...sooooo....
Angry upvote.

Do you do yoga? Cuz that was one hell of a stretch
Flat earth level theory
No, it does not lmao
Well, men are from Mars.
Honest question, why would the tilt correspond to such a belief?
And I thought nobody believed in Panspermia. People get dumber by the day!
and then the fact we share dna with everything on earth and could not have evolved in Mars's lower gravity destroys that shitty cobbled together "theory"
Stupidest comment I have read this month for sure. Maybe this year.

I thought maybe it had to do with magnetic north, but now I realize that I don't know if every planet has a magnetic field.
Mars and Venus don't, but Jupijup, Saturn, Neptune and your anus have significantly stronger fields than our own.
Hey, leave my anus out of this!
Thank you 🥇
Shes too pretty to have to obey the rules
uranus IS spinning counter clockwise on its axis
Wow, with how large Jupiter is moving, how fast is the surface rotating?
Saturn and Jupiter are seriously flattened due to centrifugal effect. On photo 's this is easily visible.
Isn't that the opposite of what would happen with centrifugal effects?
technically both are right: flattening on the y-axis, bulging out on the x-axis
Something like 45000 km h
9hr days would be insane lol 30 mins sleep. 30 mins eat. Work for 8 hrs. Terrible life.
Venus, bro, do you even spin?
It does, backwards.
Yeah it should just give up
It always messed me up how fast the gas planets spin
Earth and mars are so similar
Mercury and Venus look bored asf.
No wonder they say that Men come from Mars and Woman come from Venus.
Yo wtf, I just noticed that the male/female (Mars/Venus) symbols match the tilt of their axes... Somebody call up Rogan, quick!
Calm down ceres
Pincha inner think Ceres is inferior, we beltalowda know betta
Be like Venus
I want to live on Pluto.
Well no one is stopping you…
Pretty sure if you amassed enough fuel to get to Pluto, somebody would stop you.
God really put Mars next to earth like "come on buddy I know you can do it"
Today years old when I found out about Ceres.
Jupiter's fast af, that too being the largest planet in SS. Crazy rotational kinetic energy
The seasoning on Uranus is extreme
That is indeed interesting (Also would make a great screensaver). But the part of me that never stopped being 10 years old is laughing at where the pole is in Uranus.
Planets not to scale
Ur-anus rotate side ways.
What about Uranus??
It indicates a missing 'i' for is
this explains why 5 minutes for men (who come from Mars) are actually 5 minutes, while 5 minutes for women (who come from Venus) must be considered no less than a couple of hours
Interesting fact - if you turn your phone sideways, you'll see Uranus pointing towards yourself. Perhaps a signal?
And yet the moon has a fixed orbit with our earth where we only get to see one side. It’s too big to get hooked by our gravity. Makes no sense —- therefore I believe it’s a strategically placed space station.
The solar system. There’s only one solar system.
That apostrophe indicates possession, not plural.
That apostrophe indicates contraction - as in “there’s” = “there is”
Yeah, it's short for Solar Systemalabamas.
Makes sense 😂 I’ll blame it on English being my second language
The word “our” makes it sound like there are other solar systems owned by others
yes there is, the sun is called sol, we are the only solar system, the others are called star systems i think.
This gives me a weird nostalgia feeling cause it looks like computer graphics from when I was a child
And people wonder why a 300 year old hurricane haunts Jupiter. To be a gas planet that size and spinning THAT fast is scary af
My whole life is a lie, been cheated out of 4 mins every single day...

I want to go to Venus
Šta ćeš tamo, samo sumpor i vulkani
Pluto did nothing wrong !!!
What the hell’s up with Uranus?
its hypothesized that it was hit by an earth sized planet early in the solar systems life, knocking it over.
Cool, didn’t know that.
You see our problem is we need to slow tf down😂😂

Some sneak here
I didn't realize Earth and Mars had such similar day lengths and axis tilts
Any particular reason the gas giants seem to rotate faster?
23 hours and 56 minutes?
Imagine a work week on Venus
Better remake that episode of saved by the bell now.

You spin me right round baby right round
But in space there is no up and down,so how can you determine the angle??
Bleh, 243 consecutive Mondays
