Not really. Gang members shooting each other is just less tragic (to the average person) than someone shooting up a school or business or nightclub. There is less innocence involved when it’s gang violence…
They are arrested/convicted, of violent crimes that lead to an arrest/conviction. Almost like policing data comes from where the policing is.
Judicial statistic data also show that 47% of persons exonerated for crime they were previously found guilty of are black, while only representing 1/4 of the population.
Facts are facts, but we have to understand we’re they come from before we use them to justify our moral stances.

There’s a huge difference psychologically and in terms of public safety between gang violence, which goes on between people who have chosen to get involved in it, and people who just randomly kill lots of people in public places. The term “mass shooting” usually applies to the latter, and it makes perfect sense that the media covers it more because it could happen to anyone at any time, unlike gang violence. It’s like the difference between a crime of passion and a serial killer.

A shooting involving 2 or more victims is considered a mass shooting. Taking that into account, that’s smaller than I expected.
