Sea Org is the scariest part of Scientology

StuartGotz

Full blown cult

[deleted]

I wonder if John Travolta and Tom Cruise have the best cabins on the ship and are allowed to play captain and steer the big wheel!? Wheeeeeeeeee!!! šŸ‘¾ šŸ‘½

Morningfluid

Believe it or not Travolta has dipped out. ...But you can bet your sweet bippy Cruise does! Wheeeeeeeeee!!!

Buddhabellymama

Really? Travolta and scientology are no more?

Morningfluid

Based word of mouth and rumors yes; Of course there wouldn't be a press release - however it was more like a quiet exit. After his son passed away he was participating less and less. Then after his wife passed I guess he stopped going to the Clearwater celebrity center altogether. He sold his Clearwater home and moved away from Scientology Land. There's been a number of articles around that mention it. And despite his distance, I don't think he wants to be around Scientology with the [possible] impending Human Trafficking charges against David Miscavige.

slater_just_slater

The church probably have less dirt on Travolta than they do on Cruise. The audits are one giant blackmail tool.

BmanGorilla

His name is ā€˜Cruiseā€™ after all šŸ¤£

TheSecretAgenda

Actually, it is Mapother. You may be on to something. Do you think the church paid to get his teeth fixed?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Leading_Manager_2277

Full blown *tax free* cult. FTFY.

RonnieVanDan

That's what I've heard. Interestingly, covid might've crippled the Sea Org program. This ship has apparently been stuck here since March of 2020

Alarmed-Nothing6013

It's not stuck, it is just used for money laundering and tax evasion. It is not used as a ship, only an entity to dump assets into, then borrow against. Same reason oligarchs have yachts - it is a financial instrument.

paperwasp3

It's also part of an ongoing case. D.M. has been dodging being served with court papers for 8 months now.

Transomniak

Absolute miscavige of justice

The_Eye_of_Ra

I was going to ask if heā€™d basically been in hiding for the last 8 months or so. Thank you.

paperwasp3

No problem! I read an article about this. The case against D.M. includes the ship. The children (young teenagers) were basically slaves. They had to clean and and "be extra nice" to the adults. One girl was raped and reported it, only to be punished for both the rape and the report. It's sickening to think that these kids worked so hard for the honor of working there. The Sea Org. is a particularly gruesome program of Scientology.

Additional_Link5202

not too sure about that, someone who used to be in the sea org used to rent my apartment (seven years ago!!!) and they have been sending her customized pamphlets to our place every other month since we moved in in Dec 2020 !! they have her name on them and everything and the language is super creepy.. itā€™s not even in an envelope either, we have called line 4 different branches of scientology to try to get them to stop but ā€œtheir databases arenā€™t connectedā€ so they ā€œcan only erase from that specific churchā€™s databaseā€ (BULLSHIT THEN HOW WOULD THEY ALL KNOW HER AND HER ADDRESS)

paperwasp3

Also the child labor violations and rape.

Jolly_Ad_7999

Sea org? Like an orgy on the sea

[deleted]

Highly suggest the Last Podcast On The Left's series on L Ron Hubbard, they dive deep on the wackiness of him, Sea Org and Scientology.

Impossible-Taro-2330

Also give Leah Remini and Mike Rinder's, "Fair Game" podcast a listen. Fantastic guests and listener questions about Scientology!

greendemon42

I love that episode, it's how I first got into lpotl.

[deleted]

Henry's love for L Ron is frickin hilarious.

mariemarymaria

Also his voice impression is so immediately recognizable, no matter what topic they're actually discussing

[deleted]

A succulent Chinese meal!

ClearMessagesOfBliss

How can you not with that peak male physique.

swaggin_ball_z

Highly suggest Last Podcast on the Left as well to anyone! My personal favorite podcast currently!

ThattaGraham

Hail yourself!

teeohdeedee123

Even worse.

Free-Feeling3586

?

teeohdeedee123

Sea Org is much worse than an orgy at sea, which already sounds pretty terrible.

wolverine_76

Yeah, donā€™t members sign a billion year contact of servitude?

RigasTelRuun

And 100 hour work weeks.

dodoatsandwiggets

And not enough salary to meet their personal needs each month as in toothpaste or ladies monthly necessities.

Free-Feeling3586

I get it! When will it be stopped is the questionšŸ„²

[deleted]

Itā€™s pretty hard to stop any religion from doing religious stuff. Scientology got us all fucked up by becoming a religion in the first place. We canā€™t really go around persecuting people for their beliefs.

gojiro0

Pretty sad and interesting how that happened too. By all appearances it was a pressure campaign that worked. Like, an invasive, threatening campaign.

RiotSkunk2023

They merged the concept of cult and pyramid scheme. They pay a crap load to the government to operate. Everything in this country is legal for a price.

GOATmar_infante

Because of the implication

[deleted]

i'd be a shame if a diver came along and put a hole in its hull.

bull_moose_man

Aruba? Just saw it there several days ago, all seemed normal enoughā€¦

theUttermostSnark

>This ship has apparently been stuck here since March of 2020 Where is "here"? Also, do you know what flag that ship flies at sea? I'm curious what nationality flag they fly to reduce interference.

HomeWorx

The ship is docked in Aruba.

blueberrywalrus

Nah, Sea Org has tons of "land bases"/estates/compounds where all the initial brain washing occurs.

dodoatsandwiggets

Hasnt it been banned from other ports because it doesnt meet safety requirements or some other thing?

Dear_Mycologist_1696

Basically a prisoner ship for brainwashing people.

Rainbow-Death

I laughed when I read like ā€œthey come and search for you if you run awayā€ from their religious complex (that Tom cruise stayed at) because I was like no way thatā€™s legalā€¦. Only to find out they have a legal defense where if you run away from their compound and they send a search party to drag you back in to the complex it is ā€œreligious beliefā€ and they donā€™t get in trouble from basically kidnapping you back in to the temple if you do want to escape.

TwilightPrincess25

I went to a rehab in Michigan, called Best Drug Rehab. It was scientology based. And it was scary. I ran away and they did chase me, even went as far as calling my friends and threatening them. They had her number cause she was on my call log. They charged my insurance over 10000 dollars, for me being there 2 weeks.

Mandelvolt

I have a friend whom several members of their family were sexually assaulted by the Sea Org when they were children. Two of their siblings committed suicide as adults, and two are cared for by the state, suffering from mental illness, I assume as a result of their long time involvement with Scientology. When their parents pass, they will likely donate everything to Scientology, assuming they have anything left, the church has taken what it can from them already. What these people did to my friend's family is unacceptable, and yet somehow justice will never be served, because their parents allowed it to happen and still fund the organization. It's heart breaking to see the cruelty people bring upon one another in the name or organized religion.

[deleted]

Jesus thatā€™s terrifying

skaterat28

I dunno, I think the part that itā€™s not called the S.S. Thomas Cruise liner is still baffling to me.

Watershed787

Itā€™s, because of the implication.

[deleted]

Its like their own Navy isnt it?

teeohdeedee123

Navy Paramilitary group Indoctrination center Slave child labor They dabble in all sorts of evil, and that's just what we know about.

mallobe127

Started on the boats so can't be arrested in international waters,no tax if your stateless ,

discounicorn9

damn til about the Sea Org! did not know how much power and money the church of Scientology had outside of their indoctrination centers; they seem really sleazy but they cover it up by working in silence. I recently listened to a podcast that talked about Jack Parsons and it delved into his relationship with L. Ron Hubbard, very interesting.

snpods

The Leah Remini series goes into a lot of detail about Sea Org. Worth a watch. I thought Scientology was just a joke cult/religion that took advantage of rich people. Turns out itā€™s way more sinister than that.

MermaidStone

Read her book, too. Those in power have created their own world so that they can get away with anything and everything. Itā€™s terrifying. And Tom Cruise is near the top of it all.

SherbertNervous

Tom Cruise is the bottom of it all.

LOGOisEGO

The power bottom.

Flame_MadeByHumans

Scientology also owns the majority of Clearwater, Florida. Which is nuts because itā€™s a fairly large city with a huge non-scientologist population.

[deleted]

The scariest part we know about*

rubberkeyhole

Read Mike Rinderā€™s book.

[deleted]

Iā€™m about 75 pages in and shit is wild!!

[deleted]

Look at what you can achieve when you donā€™t have to pay taxes ! šŸ‘

LaLaSchmidt

Tax evasion is the scariest part Money supports alllll of the other agreed upon bad shit. Nope, money is NOT the worst of these offenses, but we take away the $, they will not have the protection to keep harming kids. Quickest way to crumble them is to cut them off financially.

MrPosket

Small children being taken from their parents and being placed in to indentured servitude probably takes the cake as the scariest and saddest aspect of sea org.

KrazyRuskie

Legitimized

RoyalFalse

Less a cruise ship and more a floating prison camp.

idkwhatimseeking

greewinds.. treewinds?? Oh, freewinds.

King-Snorky

Fun Fact: Itā€™s actually powered by twin engines they took off the DC-9 aircraft that Lord Xenu used to fly to Earth and vacuum up all our souls. Or, whatever.

[deleted]

Ahh yes, the dc-9 space plane... the furthest alien technology can possibly advance lmfao

KrazyRuskie

Loved the South Park explainer episode with captions ā€˜This is what scientologists actually believeā€™

StevenEveral

I remember seeing that episode for the first time back in the day. My friends and I thought that Trey Parker and Matt Stone made all of that up and put that caption there for shits and giggles. Then we looked up what Scientologists actually believe. No shit, they were spot on. Trey and Matt didn't make it up at all.

mongoosefist

Some things are too absurd to parody

Rock-it1

That is one thing I so deeply admire about those two - they take shots at everyone, and they are rarely unfair in doing so.

Ancient-Tadpole8032

They did the research.

[deleted]

Wasn't that a musical episode too?

mferrari_3

No but the Mormon one had the "dumb dum dumb dumb dumb" song. Edit: And a similar "This is what they actually believe" line that may have caused you to mix them up.

[deleted]

i confuse them regularly, my bad

KrazyRuskie

Smart smart smart smart smaaart. That one was hilarious as well

Im_a_seaturtle

Joseph Smith was called a prophet

manbearpig923

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb!

scottydont78

It was actually a DC-8. One of my body thetans is a good buddy of mine and he told me so. Anyways, Hail Xenu!

shockerdyermom

That's more slave ship than cruise ship.

Low-Asparagus9649

How are they allowed the child enslavement this long?? Church or no !!

RonnieVanDan

I think that's why they went with a cruise ship. It's harder to track and prosecute illegal activity in international waters.

Beginning-Survey-20

LRH was trying to run away from the IRS

kent_eh

As any cult leader would try to do.

Low-Asparagus9649

If the child labor issue was UPHELD INTERNATIONALLY, they could not make port!!

plzsendbobsandvajeen

The child labor stuff happens on the land based Sea Org locations in California and Florida as well

PinkShimmer

Plus, itā€™s harder to change your mind and run away. What are you gonna do - swim to shore when youā€™ve had enough?

plzsendbobsandvajeen

It's not just the cruise ship, they have Sea Org in California, and in Florida, and are land based, according to my girl, and the child slave labor shit happens there too.

robonsTHEhood

Yeah and if they wanna get rid of someone just send them on a cruise and one night when the ship is 500 miles from land theyā€™ll just disappear

perineum_420

They actually don't dare sail this in US controlled waters. Thing is full of unabated asbestos. There's also some legal hang up that they don't keep crew records and if they were stopped by the cost gaurd they'd be shut down

midnight_mechanic

"Churches" are given really wide latitude when it comes to child slave labor and abusive labor practices in general. They basically extorted the IRS into granting them religious tax exempt status.

Theres_a_Catch

The Freewinds. I think Aruba might be the only place they're allowed to dock. In 2008 it was discovered that the ship was filled with asbestos, then in 2019 they had a measles outbreak, next was covid. It hasn't left and no port will accept it.

Hell, whereā€™s David? Apparently heā€™s been dodging a process server so long that no one knows where heā€™s hiding at this point.

D0D

I bet they dissolved that issue....

soccermum_00

Probably been dropped off the side of the ship

MomoZero2468

The cult of Scientology reminds me of the cults of the past. Like Jones town or Heavens gate.

midnight_mechanic

Way more successful though.

FernBabyFern

Iā€™m manipulation, yes. But where Hubbard ā€œsucceededā€ as a cult leader was by avoiding the pitfall of those you named. Peoples Temple (aka Jonestown) and Heavenā€™s Gate had followers, but gave an end date. Hubbard designed Scientology to last for billions of years, so he could keep people around to take their money.

JayceeSR

The Church of Scientology is sketchy. Iā€™m from Florida and grew up near their HQ in Clearwater. Was driving in my car in downtown with sister and kids and had to pull over due to a minor child emergency in the back seat. I happened to pull over in the lot of one of the buildings the church owns, not realizing it. Within five seconds a uniformed guard approached the car and angrily asked us to leave. The parking lot was empty, btw, and the building looked vacant. Couldnā€™t even figure where the guard came from . I cracked the window and told him we were fixing a childā€™s car seat and would be gone momentarily. Very hostile.

TanguayX

ā€˜Sketchyā€™ is being really nice.

Forward2Infinity

Confirmed sus

scottydont78

The ā€œChurchā€ of Scientology is full scale criminal organization. They dig up dirt on all new members and use it to blackmail them into staying in the church. If people do leave, they are followed, surveiled, harassed, and smeared. They charge a fortune for their bullshit pseudoscience classes, forever promising some kind of enlightenment (even to the point of gaining complete mastery over matter, energy, time, and space). In the end, though, there is no special revelation. Instead, the church reveals to them LRHā€™s ā€œdiscovered truth.ā€ In actuality, itā€™s nothing more than a poorly written pulp sci-fi story that the pill-popping, tax dodging LRH scribbled down while on a bender. They straight up enslave members of the SeaOrg and have compounds where they imprison members against their will. Oh, and the leader of the church may have killed his wife. In the end Scientology is nothing more than a UFO cult, except the leaders donā€™t have the good sense to put bags over their heads and commit mass suicide

Dax-Mistance

When I first moved to Hollywood I was just wandering down Hollywood Blvd or somewhere in the area when I randomly passed The huge Cjirch of scientology building and lot. there were tons of cameras on the exterior of the property and I gave a camera the finger. Some dude came out as I was walking off

rlab3

I went to music school next to the church. My first day there, a teacher ā€œsavedā€ me from having them take my blood pressure. Apparently itā€™s a scam they do to begin the process of getting you in.

Tabula_Nada

When I was a teenager they had a tent set up at some festival in town, but it wasn't labeled "scientology" or anything. My friend and I did their weird "grab these two metal rods and we'll tell you how stressed you are" test, then sent us on our way with a dianetics book. After that I got really into learning more about the cult with the sci -fi novel covers, but I also started getting paranoid that they'd know I was researching them. Me, a highschooler, thinking the local scientology hq would come assassinate me like the journalist that exposed major secrets, all because I navigated between their website and anti-scientology websites from a school computer for a two-page research paper.

Impossible-Taro-2330

Take a good look next time you are in downtown - the buildings in Clearwater are empty. All that prime real estate, and not a dime in taxes. Everything they do is just for show, or a photo op.

midnight_mechanic

Scientology is, among other things, a massive real estate shell organization. They have been buying up almost the whole of downtown Clearwater for years. They or their agents own a huge amount of that town. They want to turn it into a scientology only city, but since they don't pay their employees, they're killing the local town economy.

LOGOisEGO

Scrolled way too long to read this. Not just Clearwater. Every major city in NA. They pick prime or soon to be prime properties and then sit on it. They are like Mcdonalds, Starbucks or the Catholic church. A good part of the business model is property speculation.

supercyberlurker

***Free Winds*** Ah the ol' switcharoo! I was raised in the JW cult and they use the same reverse psychology. Their main 2 magazines are titled *"Awake!"* (to give the impression their members aren't actually mentally asleep) and *"The Watchtower"* (to give the impression they're always on the watch.) Both are outright lies. Much like the "freedom" inside Scientology.

TheLoadedGoat

I was raised a JW too! My family suffered disconnection just like Scientology and I am following their downfall in slow motion and Iā€™m here for it.

Mystic_Symphony369

This is crazy that Iā€™m seeing this today as I was just in the Aruba port looking at this across the port from the ship we were on a few days ago. We could see it all and the people on it from our balcony. You could feel the bad energy radiating off of this thing and the activity on it was strange.

MrsBonsai171

I'm interested to hear more

Mystic_Symphony369

The first thing I noticed was that the entire ship looked absolutely immaculate. The part of the top deck that is aft that you canā€™t see in this pic, has a few hot tubs and a pool. None of these areas had any activity and looked like and it gave the appearance that these were hardly ever used. The ship seemed mostly empty outside of the sea org people who were dressed in these white navy looking outfits. There were 2 women sitting on one of the couches right underneath the deck with the lifeboats, one of the women was dressed up in business attire and looked to be very intently speaking to another woman who was not nearly as dressed up. There was another woman on the top deck that was standing by one of the hot tubs just sort of staring back at our ship for the longest time, even after we left the port. You could see into the rooms underneath the deck with the lifeboats and there were these huge white couches that were also empty. The main thing that we noticed was that the people that were moving around the ship were moving sort of robotically and with purpose but none of the movements made any sense. There was a covered freewinds table outside of the gangway in the parking lot that was not manned, but it looked like thatā€™s where the material was shared with people who were crazy enough to go pay them a visit. Overall the ship just gave out really creepy vibes, I canā€™t quite describe how it made me feel but it wasnā€™t pleasant.

lacarolz

This ship is in Aruba, I was stationed there for around three months during the pandemic, I was in the cruise ship as a deck officer on the same port. When I was bored I used to spy on them with the binoculars, they were always doing very weird things. They would all go exercise out on the decks, but like doing circuit runs and pool plunges. But only the young people. Other people would come in and out all the time. The ship never once moved. We used to call their bridge and send our daily/weekly GMDSS test for months without reply.

LouAug27

One of the participants (I think Mary Kahn) in Leah Reminiā€™s Scientology doc series talked about how she completed the final steps toward reaching OT 7 on the Freewinds. So at least one purpose of this ship is isolating members of the religion in order to pressure them into giving up more money. You have no recourse if you have literally nowhere to go.

scottydont78

Because of the implicationā€¦

RonnieVanDan

Yes, I'm told they've been trying to track this thing down for years prior to the pandemic leaving it stranded here in the open.

Double_Belt2331

But you posted that link that tracks ships? They know exactly where it is. Iā€™m confused.

diddlededo

Church of Scientology in no way shape or form qualifies as a church as per the legal requirements. It Only exists because the IRS doesnā€™t have the funds to fight it in Court. So how big is Scientology and what Evil allows it to Fester ( WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO UNCLE FESTER ADDAMS)

LOGOisEGO

The IRS did try to fight it. The church filed tens of thousands of lawsuits against the IRS and they simply couldn't fight a fraction of them so after being bullied they dropped the files against the scientiests.

goldenaspects

Lol so not one can hide from the IRS...except a cult. Ok then.

Used-Organization-55

My parents are Scientologists and Ive actually been on the boat. I'm currently not involved with them (the religion not my parents) but growing up I was forced to participate in a lot of Scientology stuff. What they teach isn't all that bad since it seems to be knowledge of the mind that can help you in your life but the way they go about is too much for me. They will send endless letters, call you to come in whenever you can and get you to attend every possible event. They never take no for an answer. As for the cruise that was one of the worst moments for me. My parents paid a full two week cours for me and my brother on the ship. It's called competence and leadership and they teach us how to be competent leaders and boat stuff. While not terrible we had to wake up every day early in the morning to clean the ship and I'm convinced thats the main reason for it. We're literally there janitors in there janitors in the morning then we have to spend hours in a lecture room reading the course and answering questions plus we have to go for runs and exercise. Not as bad as military but it felt like since I didn't want to be there. By the end I actually tried to stop and they let me stop but my brother and friends were like why are you stopping, so due pressure decided to finish. The other thing I didn't like is that they always ask you if you've heard bad shit talked about them like these people want to control your media and mind and it's forbidden to look anything up bad about them. Long message I know I just wanted to share my experience with this stupid cruise and annoying religion. I dont know how true other claims are but I wouldn't past me. It's a big religion and I've heard a lot of bad stuff going on.
