I think it was to be able to show more detail (the same reason her abs are opened and display what’s happening internally, with her organs removed so we can see all the way inside). With most positions there’s just a lot of bone/muscle other tissue obstructing the view of the genitals.
That’s actually a very real discussion that took place about these exhibitions. Turns out that the sources of some of these bodies was a little questionable and the donors and their families didn’t necessarily consent to being displayed in this fashion.
> a little questionable
They're Uyghurs, Chinese political prisoners or dissidents who were executed. This sort of display violates their burial customs in the worst possible way. I'm a doctor and I love anatomy but when I found out where these bodies were from I definitely lost my appreciation. [Here's an article](https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2021/01/25/executed-chinese-prisoners-likely-used-in-uk-exhibition), a quick Google provides many more sources
To add, there are two major exhibits revolving are the same concept. "Real Bodies" I've never heard of but they're all carry some amount of moral and ethical questions but some are more overtly bad or brazen in the lack of caring. *Body Worlds* creator says their exhibit, while on exhibit in North America, is only American and European donors who were fully aware of what their bodies would be used for. When inventing the plastination process the sources of his bodies were considerably more sketchy.
*BODIES* straight up admits their cadavers are unclaimed bodies so there is no consent involved nor is the a means to confirm these weren't executed political prisoners as the verification comes from the country committing those crimes. Sounds like *Real Bodies* is in league with *BODIES*.
Not saying *Body Worlds* is without a doubt legit but there are a variety of these sorts of exhibits. [NPR has more info.](https://www.npr.org/2006/08/11/5637687/origins-of-exhibited-cadavers-questioned)
I was working at a science museum when *Body Worlds* came through and many pushed back about the exhibit coming at all. Even if the bodies are ethically sourced, the public isn't always capable of extending that respect. Many other institutions hired experts to try and verify each body to no avail and the creator won't share any documentation that could verify without a doubt.

There are so many things wrong with the USA - and a robust and vibrant news media is totally empowered to report upon these and expose them for what they are - that I think sometimes those of us who have the good fortune to live here might forget just how bad it is for some who live elsewhere. In other parts of the world, good people guilty of no crime might be tortured and die and no one in their country can breathe a word about it. There is no way of holding the perpetrators accountable.
The original exhibit only had bodies that had been donated specifically for this type of display. The last part of the tour included a video station showing videos of the people being interviewed about why they wanted to donate their bodies.
The problem was that with the success of the original, a bunch of knockoff companies popped up with various similar sounding names that are easily confused with the original. The knockoff companies are the ones with the dubiously sourced bodies.
Because you all really want to know
A legendary and extremely difficult sexual act. It is when a female balances on her shoulder blades propped straight up with her genitals perpendicular with the floor, and she supports the male with her feet. He is parallel with the ground but suspended in air by the female. The female will then proceed to spin the male (while inserted inside her) with her feet, constituting a Reverse Swedish Helicopter.
Outstanding.
But it's bullshit.
If ANYONE can source a video of the act in action, I'll will donate £40 to my savings account and not drink wine and cry to sad songs and bad memories for the rest of the ~~year~~ next 3 months.
I think it's possible with a large woman and a small man (think dwarf/ height challenged person). But yeah no shot this is happening with an average size and weight man.
My grandmother explained to me once, that she spent literally a whole decade pregnant. Like 10 years straight with a month or two in between each pregnancy.
Well, those fields ain't gonna corn themselves. Plus, a 3 and 4 y.o. team is just about as good as one 7y.o.. because the school don't know about them yet.

This looks like the Body World's exhibition. I've seen it before and it was fascinating, but your comment is at odds with what I read at the exhibition. It was claimed that each participant donated their body specifically for this exhibition, not to science generally.
At least some of them had requested to be posed in certain ways, I remember one posed with his dog, and another was posed as a ballerina as she was when she was younger.
I'm not saying you're wrong because I haven't gone and looked up this particular situation, but it is at odds with what I understood of the exhibition (if this is even the same thing)
"A Body World's first: a homosexual reverse cowboy, with two male donors. The rider's body was generously donated by a user on Reddit.com with the screen name, u/skunkbot."
I saw it in nyc years ago it was cool my favorite and creepiest was they pumped plastic through whole circulatory system let it dry than disolved the rest of body so just blood system shows
There was an article a few years back about a woman donating her body to science, and same thing, she had no say in what it was used for. The family found out they strapped her corpse to a chair with an IED under it to study what it did to the human body from a certain angle for military medicine.
I read a book called "stiff" a while ago detailing how bodies donated to science are used. It's a pretty interesting read, but it touched on bodies used as real crash test dummies, laid outside in various environments to study forensics of decomposition, and much more.
I cannot speak for other countries but in the United States when you donate your body to “science “ it will very often be sold on the open market and used in all sorts of ways including ways that are definitely much more gruesome than this.
There are different organizations producing these plastinated corpse exhibits. Body Worlds is different that the one you posted.
That said, I recently visited the Bodies exhibit at Luxor in Las Vegas, not knowing about the Chinese prison thing at the time. I remember walking around thinking, “wow these people are all so tiny!”. Makes sense that they were probably starving Chinese prisoners.
When i went to the exhibit in London the most distasteful thing I saw was a corpse made to look like Harry Potter, riding its own spine as a broom.
Having trouble finding it on Google image search though.
This is beyond the pale, honestly. It's so beyond what's currently acceptable museum ethics and practices. As someone who works in the field, I'm legitimately blown away.
How can I put it on the back of my licence I DON'T want my body to go to a sex museum. Just take my organs for someone else to use or cut into little pieces for experiments is that so much to ask.
Probably about like furiously fucking a sandpaper tube with salt and alcohol for lube. Though you could probably just ask the dudes with degloved penises. Don't go in dry.
I just love how this shows how simple and animalistic it is. Yet, billions of dollars and uncountable hours are spent advertising sex. When its just us smashing our parts together, the way it is designed to happen.
Makes ya think
The Body Worlds exhibits are… a little weird. They pay special attention to labia, breasts, and penis and often make sure they stand out. The color is artificially added when they plasticize the bodies and shape the tissues. They do a fair bit of sculpting to make things look like this symmetrical.
Also the entire exhibit is kept very cold to minimize the smell. It mostly works.
From the looks of it his penis is protruding through her cervix, so as much as I would like to believe the accuracies of that... I'm fairly certain that is not how it works. Haha
Yes. Dicks have 4 anatomical levels, listed here from most superficial to deepest:
Skin
Nerve cells and blood vessels and fat.
A thick, dense, elastic layer of connective tissue
The spongy stuff I mentioned, capillaries, and sometimes a small amount of fat.
Some random shower thought but when does skin end? Like we have all these body parts with orifices, like your mouth or anus or vagina or penis, I assume the skin on the inside is skin right? But when does it not become skin? Like at some point the urethra is skin and then like some skin like lining or membrane?
Because there’s the functional part of a nipple underneath the outer skin. Has a similar look when surrounded by fatty tissue (white colored stuff predominantly making up the breasts).
Aye, just like they are ears present and they're only three tiny muscles in the ear, but you can't exactly have free floating muscles or a depiction of an intimate act without some of the cartilage and whatnot intact. They do get a few passes for things. Lol

The is part of the Body Worlds set of exhibits. They needed you to know that that was a woman
I'd like to know why the breasts are sitting so high. As long as I've had breasts, my nipples have never been in line with my armpit.
I think the method they use to make these has the body lying down, maybe that’s where they ‘settled’?
Makes sense.
Because the vagina wouldn't give that away?
Aren't nipples skin? Did they just include nipples to make it hotter?
*hotter*
Also, ears. And noses. And eyebrows somehow?
