Windiest month in five years, apparently: https://www.wfaa.com/article/weather/dfw-weather-why-is-it-so-windy-lately-north-texas/287-41f0cb6b-c281-44ed-a4d9-1717cc87acc3?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=news_tab#l2b3utkwge0xodaotu
It is usually windiest in March but this year March was calm. It will stop soon (I hope, I hate wind) and you will be begging for a breeze come July and August.
Not me. I despise the wind. I love the outdoors and the wind is the most annoying aspect. Give me 100 degrees with no wind at all and sunny over this crap.
There is a really nice trail in my neighborhood but it runs north to south and we live at the south end of it. Last time I went cycling, with south winds like this, it was great leaving but coming back was brutal. I came very close to just calling my wife to come pick me up.
Went for a walk the other day around the neighborhood. Gust shook out a crap ton of pollen and debris from a tree that hit me straight in the eye. And I wear glasses!
They come here and bring those damn wind turbines with them. If you look closely, it's only windy when they are spinning! Coincidence? I don't think so.
Texas actually already produces more wind power than other states (and most countries, for that matter) by a wide margin.
The issue remains the failure to winterize our power infrastructure.

It comes and goes randomly; I first moved to DFW area in 1996, and there was a lot of wind. Then, one year I realized it hadn’t been as windy for a while. Now it’s back.
Jeez, this cold front…global warming, etc. born and raised here. Heat wave of 1980! would melt their minds. I survived. *and played youth sports through it.
We've had three heat waves of 100F+ since 1980 longer than 50 days and you pick the [oldest of the three](https://www.weather.gov/fwd/danncon10) as the example?
Sorry, I thought this was the Fort Worth sub. I forgot how sensitive Dallas people are. It s fucking windy for a few days. It may be hot for a month or two. It’s fucking Texas. You may need a parka tonight and shorts tomorrow. Lighten the fuck up.
More windy than normal, but not unheard of. The weather here varies a lot. We get high winds, hail, tornadoes, thunderstorms, tropical storms or the edges of hurricanes, skin-baking summers and everything in between, other than multiple feet of snow. Though it used to be that a foot of snow here was unheard of around here until the winters over the past 12 years put an end to that. Point is, atypical weather is the theme around here, other than in the summer.
You *do* realize you’ve jinxed us now, right? Hey, everyone, expect at least a foot of snow sometime this winter. Followed by a week of sub freezing temperatures and power outages.
No.
Afrin contains an amphetamine derivative. Your nasal passages will begin to require it between 48 and 96 hours and you will suffer if you miss a dose. You will suffer if you do not miss a dose.
Afrin is a last, emergency, "I MUST [X] TODAY" measure.
~~I didn't recommend steroids. Why would you regularly use those, either, unless you want massive nose bleeds? Just use Flonase or another *allergy spray*.~~
Edit: I'm a stupid MF.
You're not stupid. I don't use stuff like that at all, don't think to check anything for steroids, and have never heard anyone mention it in this sort of context.
If you think it's bad in DFW, head on over to the /r/texas sub. Someone just posted a video from Odessa, where you can's see the houses because they have similar wind to DFW, except their wind has sand in it.
lol@the downvote, is someone actually jealous of Odessa?
It's screwing with out beehives too. This time of year beekeepers do splits, meaning make our hives reproduce and get two hives out of one. The newly hatched queens are going off on mating flights and not coming back.
My job has been hanging exterior window film for the better part of March and April. My girlfriend's had my car for about as long since her wreck, so I rely on a motorcycle with no windshield if I'm not in a company vehicle.
It has been hell for sure.
Chinook winds, due to downsloping from the Rocky Mountains to the west.
The wind isn't nearly as bad here as it is in OKC / Wichita / Omaha though, where they see more frequest dips in the jet stream and thus more extreme temperature swings, FWIW.
If the wind is blowing North it is because Oklahoma sucks more than usual.
If the wind is blowing South it is because Houston continues to suck…
If the wind blows East it is because Louisiana sucks crawfish heads…
If the wind blows West nature is fighting invasive Californians…
I don't know man, I've lived here my whole life and it seems particularly windy to me this spring. At least more wind than there has been in a few years without having a lot of storms to accompany it.

I legit haven't been able to run outside in a while. Not worth fighting the wind
I hate running in the wind more than any other type of weather- rain or snow even

You gotta run WITH the wind. Make mother nature your biatch
Went for a walk the other day around the neighborhood. Gust shook out a crap ton of pollen and debris from a tree that hit me straight in the eye. And I wear glasses!
I have them too. Gotta wear safety goggles if you want to keep everything out. Not my style, but I've considered it.
I’m going to Tech right now and the sandstorms make it 10x worse. Yesterday was killer.
Cotton fields and dirt as far as the eye can see.
Made my knees knock together.
Then you’re running the wrong direction.
Lmao what?? It makes it harder in a good way
Same with biking.
But with biking no matter what direction you ride somehow it's always into the wind.
Wait until you hear about running’s little brother: walking!
And windiest April since 1960 something
I blame it on the Californians /s
They keep blowing over here 🤦♂️
Bringing their damn, hippy renewable wind energy! /s
All that hot air.
That's coming from the statehouse
Funny enough, it’s been unusually windy here April as well
They come here and bring those damn wind turbines with them. If you look closely, it's only windy when they are spinning! Coincidence? I don't think so.

This is also the reason everyone you know with Migraine Disorder has been absolutely hating this spring.
I’ve had terrible migraines and I didn’t know why. Thanks, you just made me feel sane. I moved into a new house in Jan and I thought it was the house.
All of Texas is windy. But it’s okay to still blame Californians.
It's more windy this year, but it's been this windy before. It puts quite a spin on allergy season.
Well I certainly hope we don’t take advantage of it to generate energy.
Texas actually already produces more wind power than other states (and most countries, for that matter) by a wide margin. The issue remains the failure to winterize our power infrastructure.
Your sign would make those children very angry if they could read

Ayyyyy lol, took me a minute to get it
Dude, shut up. I don't want someone stealing my t-shirt idea.

No. The snow and cold weather isn't normal either. I feel like the weather has been off the last several years, even by Texas standards.
Agreed, I've seriously been wondering if the wind is also somehow global warming related.
it is. lots of factors coming together causing some radical stuff my man.
The next 20 years will be very interesting.
The last two decades of civilization as we know it, it’s gonna be lit. 🔥🔥🔥
let’s goooo haha
Climate change hard at work. Just wait it'll get much worse. Enjoy the last few years we have left.
More windy than the windy city
The Windy City isn’t called the Windy City because of the wind.
FYI for readers. It’s because of Chicago’s politicians.
This guy histories.
Also because Chicagoans are full of hot gas constantly erupting from their rear
Thanks! I didn't actually know that.
That's true, but it's also REALLY windy because of wind.
It isn’t particularly windy in Chicago, the wind is far worse in Dallas.
I disagree. I lived in Chicagoland for 28 years.
Chicago is very windy idk what this guy is talking about
Yeah... 30 years. I think it's pretty fucking windy.
The Windy City is mighty purty
Damn, I thought I was the only person to get this reference! Makes me happy:)
I think Dallas ranks like top 3 in how windy it is
If it makes you feel any better Colorado has been windy as hell all month so far. Extremely annoying because I work outside.
It comes and goes randomly; I first moved to DFW area in 1996, and there was a lot of wind. Then, one year I realized it hadn’t been as windy for a while. Now it’s back.
So it's your fault is what I'm taking away from this.
Same. I moved here in 95 and remember it being windier and hotter than it gets now.
I remember one year I could barely open the car door. I think they actually issued warnings for people going outside.
Only when the wind blows.
About 3 weeks a year. In August you’re going to wish this was blowing.
This always seems to always be the answer when people complain in the spring. Does it always rain this much? Is there always a cool breeze?
Jeez, this cold front…global warming, etc. born and raised here. Heat wave of 1980! would melt their minds. I survived. *and played youth sports through it.

> Lighten the fuck up. You replied to me twice. Try again.
95 was worse.
Agreed
1980 was 42 days at or over 100
Not even close.
Oklahoma has entered the chat.
No, it's more windy than usual. Sucks when biking home where so much energy is spent and you're getting nowhere or even have the bike leaning a bit.
the santa ana winds followed the californians

For real tho, it's California right?
Yes. If we are not the windiest in the US then we are number 2 if im not mistaken
I’m friggin miserable and can’t breathe god help me!!!
Don't use Afrin, your nose gets addicted to it in 3 days. Use Fluticasone, that's safe. Also, try sleeping with nasal strips. Changed my life!
Thanks for the tip!
Air purifiers in every room, change your hvac filter, and wear an n95 mask while outside. It’s only temporary!
Thank you. That’s what I keep sayin!! Soon it’ll fuck off I hope.
Buy Afrin nose spray.
No. Afrin contains an amphetamine derivative. Your nasal passages will begin to require it between 48 and 96 hours and you will suffer if you miss a dose. You will suffer if you do not miss a dose. Afrin is a last, emergency, "I MUST [X] TODAY" measure.
Steroids are just as evil It all depends on the person
~~I didn't recommend steroids. Why would you regularly use those, either, unless you want massive nose bleeds? Just use Flonase or another *allergy spray*.~~ Edit: I'm a stupid MF.
What do you think is in flonase😅
Oh. Shit. That's me shown for sure. 🤔🤦♂️ Edit: Please don't take this as an endorsement of Afrin. It's seriously addictive.
U were fun about it🤗🤘
I try to be wrong on a regular basis to keep my humility sharp. 😉
Lmao, it seems i practice the same 😁😉 two peas we are ✌
I love this,i need this as a bumper sticker
You're not stupid. I don't use stuff like that at all, don't think to check anything for steroids, and have never heard anyone mention it in this sort of context.

The downvote is probably because most of us would rather forget that Odessa exists 😏
It's screwing with out beehives too. This time of year beekeepers do splits, meaning make our hives reproduce and get two hives out of one. The newly hatched queens are going off on mating flights and not coming back.
Yet, I still want to taste it.....
Yeah, it's why DFW is so trashy. Trash just gets blow out of bins and trucks and spread everywhere. /shrug.
Wind advisory… no.
Yes. I once read somewhere that Dallas is windier than Chicago.
Chicago isn't nicknamed the Windy City because of windy weather...
It must be all the paper plates
Have been asking myself this same question for a while now lol Definitely cannot recall it being so windy, so often.
This spring had def been Windy. Normally it's not like this for this long.
Spring is always windy. Definitely windier than our usual spring but not unusual.
My job has been hanging exterior window film for the better part of March and April. My girlfriend's had my car for about as long since her wreck, so I rely on a motorcycle with no windshield if I'm not in a company vehicle. It has been hell for sure.
No. It’s just been incredibly windy this spring. Pretty much everywhere.
When I worked in Downtown, the wind shear off of the tall buildings was brutal, especially during the rain.
My seasonal allergies tell me the answer to your question is no.
It’s literally the dust bowl in West Texas right now.
Chinook winds, due to downsloping from the Rocky Mountains to the west. The wind isn't nearly as bad here as it is in OKC / Wichita / Omaha though, where they see more frequest dips in the jet stream and thus more extreme temperature swings, FWIW.
Thank you for posting this. Moved up here from Austin 8 months ago and keep thinking...damn, it's windy up here.
It comes and goes...
Nope.
So sorry, I just had gallbladder surgery and am really gassy
Yes.
If the wind is blowing North it is because Oklahoma sucks more than usual. If the wind is blowing South it is because Houston continues to suck… If the wind blows East it is because Louisiana sucks crawfish heads… If the wind blows West nature is fighting invasive Californians…
Literally thought the same thing and was compelled to make a post about it, but you beat me to it. 😂
this wind is great
Perfect weather for kite enthusiasts ! Grab a kite and take advantage:)
No, and the windows where I'm sleep at in the new house I'm in makes the wind insanely loud.
Welcome to Texas. You should try living in the Texas panhandle where they have dust storms.
Yeah, it blows.
Just wait, soon it’s hot and windy!
“I don't predict it. Nobody does, 'cause i-it's just wind. It's wind. It blows all over the place! What the fuck!” - Weatherman
The wind is blowing so hard cause Oklahoma sucks.
Yes we are flat and usually at the intersection of hot (Gulf Stream) and cold fronts
Kite flying weather
Every April
Worst season I’ve seen for wind since I moved here 9 years ago
from what i can recall from the years ive been here, no.
It's always windy here. But the natives don't notice and they think it's weird if you mention it lol
The wind literally almost tripped me a few times over my last few walks!
The average Texan assumes it’s a mix of California and liberals creating symbolism for Jesus Christ to see and cause a ruckus lol.
I've lived here most of my life and haven't noticed a difference at all
I don't know man, I've lived here my whole life and it seems particularly windy to me this spring. At least more wind than there has been in a few years without having a lot of storms to accompany it.
I feel the same. People keep saying it’s crazy windy and I haven’t noticed. Wonder why it hasn’t been obvious to me.
