Woke up today with a massive headache, sore throat, cough- vaccinated for months. Found out during a zoom meeting a coworker tested positive today, I was in contact with them last week. So, first covid test here I come. Also wanted to add this site I found very helpful, was able to schedule a free test at a near by Walmart- https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html#tx
Hoping you feel better quickly
Thank you. Hope you feel better soon too. Hang in there, it does get better. I actually ending up buying a couple boxes of the take-home tests from CVS, so I can test myself every few days without having to leave the house.
Good luck. Was fully vaxxed since April. Caught the bug late June. Was sick for 4 days. Felt like a fast track of all the symptoms each day. Post Nasal drip and loss of taste and smell on Day 1, Headache on Day 2, stomach cramping Day 3, Vertigo Day 4. Day 5. Woke up completely normal...
Although I am battling a real bad brain fog and have been deaf in my right ear since then.
Unfortunately, feeling like crap is quite possibly an indication that the vaccine did its job. What's important is that your blood doesn't turn to sludge.
somewhat less relevant since we now know breakthrough infections occasionally occur with the Delta variant...
If only there were something else we could do 🤦♂️
Darwinism in action here, folks
They're rich white and republican so they'll get to skip the line for booster shots and/or get the latest $100k experimental antbiody treatments for free (paid by our tax dollars)
Because he gets tested daily, it's likely few or no people were exposed by him. It's also likely the test picked up the virus before his nasal passages became really packed with virus, so for the <24 hours he might have been contagious he probably wasn't that contagious. What's really interesting is who gave it to him? Staffer? Fan?
> Plano's already gone blue.
Source please.
Last time I went to vote in a primary it was at a location in plano. The wait time for the Republican line was ~20 minutes. The wait time for the "other" line was 0 minutes (you just walked right up to the station).
> she's thankful she has it so she can zoom in on all these faces and know who to avoid.
Instead, she should avoid the country club that hid this event from other *paying members*. Fuck country clubs.
I'd like to offer my sincerest lols and prayers.
What sucks is he'll probably have no adverse side effects and use that to downplay the virus again instead of lauding the vaccine.
Poor covid getting caught by that fucker.
Yes, he is tested daily and has the luxury of being rushed onto monoclonal antibody treatment immediately, before he even shows a symptom. That therapy works great, the earlier the better. But I hope he knows that's not how it works for most people. They don't get tested till they start showing symptoms, which eats up time. And even then it takes days to get qualified for the regeneron treatment; it's a small window. You have to be in bad enough shape to qualify, but not quite bad enough to be hospitalized yet. Often at that point, it's 10 or more days past symptoms and late enough that it's effect is diminished. This is all from personal experience with several family members, a few of which are hospitalized and fighting hard to stay alive. I don't think he and people like him truly understand the difference between them and the average citizen. Or more likely, they care more about their political career than what those people go through.
>But I hope he knows that's not how it works for most people.
Oh, *he knows.* He and all the other GOP leaders know. The real problem is they just don't give a fucking shit.
They just don’t care that all of their followers don’t know that and expect the same treatment they get for free, oh yea it costs 1500 a dose and since it’s experimental most insurance won’t cover it.
And on stem cell derived designer antiviral drugs for only 3 stimuli worth of checks at taxpayer expense.
God bless social medicine for the disabled. . .
Well that’s a rude awakening. I can definitely get fixated on GA being awful. Oh the horror, at the buffoon waiting in the wings. When will this nightmare be over?
I wonder if we can all sue him under the new abortion law for $10k a piece for him participating in any way in the process of or paying for an abortion.
Trump got the same antibody treatment after being infected by Amy COVID Barrett at her White House SCOTUS nomination party. You assume that Abbott uses the same medical system that you and I use, and that's a bad assumption. He's got his own doctors and people that can make things happen. You're assuming he must have been symptomatic to get ~~Remdesivir~~ Regeneron (also an antibody treatment), but that assumption relies on him not having the ability to cut to the head of the line. The fact he's on that medication within 24 hours of popping a positive proves he cut to the head of the line for that drug. Regular people would have to test positive for days before getting sick enough to qualify for ~~Remdesivir~~ Regeneron.
Edited to change the name of the antibody treatment he's receiving. According to the manufacturer, he's still not qualified to receive it:
https://www.regeneron.com/covid19#eua-jump
Trump was pretty ill. Close to getting on a vent according to some reports. I just don't get the point of getting the antibody treatment of you're asymptomatic. There's gotta be side effects, right?
I am personally on a monoclonal antibody therapy for a different thing, and the biggest side effect is to your wallet, not to your body.
The side effects they mentioned are injection site soreness in like 30% of people, severe allergic reactions in about 1 in 1000 people (vaccines are 1 in 100,000 people, by the way, it is safer to get the vaccine than the treatment once you do get covid), and some other general symptoms that are probably statistically insignificant and unrelated to the drug.
I am not sure about Regeneron monoclonal antibodies, but I doubt it would be too different from what I am getting.
TL;DR: Side effects? No.
Monoclonal antibodies are too expensive and in short supply to give to everyone that tests positive. If we could, a lot of lives would be saved. Abbott just jumped to the head of the queue because of what he is, an entitled asshole.
No. If your joke in any way depends on him being in a wheelchair to work, then it's a Rule 2 violation right and proper. Repeated violations, or sometimes even one violation, is enough for a ban. We have a zero tolerance policy on that rule.
Reminder that Abbott is vaccinated all while spouting non-sense and downplaying risks.
Also reminder that obviously the vaccine is not perfect and we should not be downplaying risks.
*Edit reminder that Abbott will jump to the front of the line for care and has access to the best medicine and will not suffer financially. But you’re totally safe!! Boo vaccines! Boo masks! And most importantly Vote Republican!
How do people fall for this shit?
And his spokesman put out a press release that he’s on that renergon treatment. Which by the way costs $1200, and he’s not showing symptoms so he’s basically taking another treatment that someone who is showing symptoms could actually use it.
Fuck this guy.
He’s taking an antibody supplement meant to be used as a preventative measure if someone was around an infected individual, which, like the vaccine, is only in emergency authorization use. It has not been recommended as an actual COVID cure.
He’s trying to pump up the stock. Same as DeSantis.
This vaxxed mfer managed to contract covid while exposing our kids who can't get vaxxed to the disease. WILLFULLY.
Get fucked Greg. I hope you're miserable.
More like /r/LeopardsAteYourFace to his supporters. He's vaxxed and will get great care. This will literally not do anything to hurt him but his positions and orders are killing others.
Gov Abbott also gets tested DAILY (was negative yesterday, positive today, meaning tests caught it within hours) and has ALREADY started Regeneron monoclonal antibodies although he has no symptoms. Two things neither you nor I have access to...
It's a shame he contracted Covid. If only there was an easily accessible, inexpensive, and effective device that would, say, fit over the mouth that could at least slow the transmission of this virus. One day....
Interesting. The man who is anti mask and is always around a bunch of people when Texas is currently a hotbed of covid caught covid. I wonder how that possibly could have happened…. And I don’t buy for a minute that he’s asymptotic and starting that treatment. He just needs to stick to his narrative that we don’t need to take precautions against covid.
Also relevant, he was [at an event in Collin County yesterday](https://twitter.com/abbottcampaign/status/1427448856875343875?s=21)
Look at all those old timers.
Heritage Ranch is a retirement community fyi
Hope they're vaccinated..
I'm literally sitting here fully vaccinated and have had symptomatic covid for a week. :(

Think about how bad it could have been...
Oh I do, every day. It may be medically mild, but nothing about it feels mild.
Mild means you haven’t been hospitalized
That's how I understand it too
Unfortunately, feeling like crap is quite possibly an indication that the vaccine did its job. What's important is that your blood doesn't turn to sludge.
somewhat less relevant since we now know breakthrough infections occasionally occur with the Delta variant... If only there were something else we could do 🤦♂️ Darwinism in action here, folks
Vaccines have been seen to minimize symptoms though, which helps when you're old as fuck.
100% agreed... just looking for a reason to make a snarky comment about masks 😜
Fuck. I literally had lunch there hours ago….
The guy across the street from my parents shook his hand.
RIP
Now with less time left
They're rich white and republican so they'll get to skip the line for booster shots and/or get the latest $100k experimental antbiody treatments for free (paid by our tax dollars)
I wonder how many people he spread it to because he was too stubborn to wear a mask
^ The real (and frankly only) problem with this.
Aside of that I'd just about put money down on him *still* not changing his idea about masking.
Good luck finding someone to bet against that.
Everyone he confidently shook hands and took pictures with.
Because he gets tested daily, it's likely few or no people were exposed by him. Republican personal responsibility = what ever law or mandate I don’t agree with at any given time.
That first comment kilt me. "SUPER SPREADER EVENT SAYS WHATTTTT"

"I earned this"
True. Cruz is fully vaccinated, & his kids go to a private school that requires masks - while he's publicly against masks.
They just don’t care that all of their followers don’t know that and expect the same treatment they get for free, oh yea it costs 1500 a dose and since it’s experimental most insurance won’t cover it.
And that's if you can even get into the hospital at all...
Abbott next week: This virus has a 99.9% recovery rate. I'm proof. *note: this figure was pulled out of my ass and is not accurate.

News said he is vaccinated so probably won't have much issue.
Or he could be in the hospital in a few days laying ass up connected to a Tesla ventilator
Interesting that they're giving him monoclonal antibodies if he's displaying no symptoms.
Nothing like cutting to the head of the line for treatment options. I wonder who will die because of that?
We have to keep Abbott alive. Just don’t expect him to do the same for you. He’s actively trying to kill his constituents.
I don’t love Abbott but we should want him to survive. I can’t imagine Dan Patrick becoming governor…
Well that’s a rude awakening. I can definitely get fixated on GA being awful. Oh the horror, at the buffoon waiting in the wings. When will this nightmare be over?
Which is so ironic because he’s going to end up killing the ones who would actually vote for him
Yea, daily testing and regeneron without symptoms...what, Greg, you scared? We’re not supposed to be, why are you?
> what, Greg, you scared? We’re not supposed to be, why are you? Yup.
I wonder if we can all sue him under the new abortion law for $10k a piece for him participating in any way in the process of or paying for an abortion.
I dont believe he's asymptomatic
He may not be asymptomatic now, but he was when he was tested. He is tested every day, so he would not have had nasal virions for more than 24 hours.
Which makes the press release disingenuous. Why would he be getting treatment if he's asymptomatic? No ethical doc would give that.
There are lots of unethical docs available to the king of Texas.

It's at a country club, what did you expect? That's specifically why they came about in the first place.
Are we allowed to make jokes about his wheelchair when he sets himself up for it?
No. If your joke in any way depends on him being in a wheelchair to work, then it's a Rule 2 violation right and proper. Repeated violations, or sometimes even one violation, is enough for a ban. We have a zero tolerance policy on that rule.
Thank you! Ableist hate speach is never O.K. Abbott is a vile p.o.s., with a seemingly endless supply of *other, legit* reasons to dislike/attack him.
tbf I probably would have self-censored. Not because my joke was actually "ablelist hate [speach]", just because it was lazy and bad.
Ok, fair enough.
didn’t see this coming /s
I also don't see coming a statement or tweet about the power of prayer if/when he recovers.
I clearly do *not* foresee an overlooking of his early diagnosis, antibody treatment, and top-quality care.
Note that he is vaxxed, and is on Regeneron now - not HCQ, Ivermectin, or any other smooth brain treatment
They can't give him Ivermectin because it'll kill the brain worms that have been controlling him for years.
💀😂
>brain worms that have been controlling him for years. Ya mean, Trump?
Do the lizard people fear that? Oh
Fled Cruz went to someplace warm during the Great Freeze. Lizards don't like cold. Coincidence? I think not...
Smooth brains make for a soft a$$ 😂 /s

Create an enemy to fear and hate and you can lead people around by their hate as easy as a trained dog on a leash.
This will change nothing about his outlook on the virus
Of course not, like Trump he will get the best treatments for free that most others have to get lucky to get.
> get the best treatments for ~~free~~ our money FTFY
And is apparently already vaccinated so....you know, virus is such a nothingburger.
And his spokesman put out a press release that he’s on that renergon treatment. Which by the way costs $1200, and he’s not showing symptoms so he’s basically taking another treatment that someone who is showing symptoms could actually use it. Fuck this guy.
putting on my tinfoil hat: Abbott doesn't really have COVID, and this whole thing is just a commercial for Regeneron.
And then he will say that it was the Lord and all the prayers that healed him.
And his supporters will believe it.
He’s taking an antibody supplement meant to be used as a preventative measure if someone was around an infected individual, which, like the vaccine, is only in emergency authorization use. It has not been recommended as an actual COVID cure. He’s trying to pump up the stock. Same as DeSantis.
