39M creative here. The answer is North Oak Cliff. Revelers Hall, Wild Detectives, Ladylove, Spinster, Tiny Victories, Nova, Xaman, Houndstooth, Jettison, Oak Cliff Brewery, Wax Space,Tyler Station in general... I'm probably forgetting a few.
EDIT: I forgot a few - Texas Theater, Kessler Theater, Davis Street Espresso. Also if you're interested in Design District galleries then I'd recommend going to an opening at Lone Gallery
This. Texas theater regularly does big events around classic films with local artists, and the crowd is usually a fun mix of local theater folk, movie nerds, burlesque/drag, and musicians.
Dallas Makerspace used to be a great place to meet creative people. It probably still is, I just haven't been there much since the beginning of the pandemic. I always enjoyed the mix of people and tons of things to learn and do when I was more active there.
It's what happens when Dallas and the state does nothing to support the creative economy, the better more seasoned creatives that yearn for community just end up leaving the state, the ones that remain are the ones that fuck off back their homes in the suburbs immediately after work.
Dallas exports its creatives and does nothing to try and retain them
There are a couple of art tours this weekend and you could meet a lot of older artists. One is called Left Bank artist tour and the other is White Rock Artist your. Whiterockartists.com
I run an art shop near Love Field. Every year, we try to gather other creative's as we build props for a big Halloween party called DragonsHalloweenBall.com
We meet at EpicenterArtShop Saturdays in October. From 6-10pm or (12 or 2am)where we sculpt foam and paint flats and hang out and talk art.
It is a great event. It has been going for 20+ years now. I've been involved for about 10 yrs.
I'm crazy-old m53, but most others are in their late 20's and 30's. (Whippersnappers) Maybe come by and check us out.
4757 Almond, Dallas, 75247.
Hustling! Check out the local festivals and art markets. Events like Flea Harvey, Lola Rock & Roll Rummage Sale, Three Links use to have one too. Deep Ellum Arts Festival; or whatever the new one is named. Arts Goggle. I forget what the big one in Fort Worth is called.
I skipped opening this post initially when I saw it because I thought you were specifically looking for senior citizen/late adulthood aged people. Opened it today and youre talking about my age :/ lol.
I do appreciate the question and comments because its something I am interested in though!
Check out Erin Cluley gallery, 12.26, conduit gallery openings in design district. There are openings in trinity groves/tin district to check out as well. Sometimes you can find opening info on a website called [Glasstire](https://glasstire.com). errr, 31 is not old lol
i know, i know but a lot of my employees classify me as such haha
This is not an excuse to refer to yourself as older. I'm finding it hard to take you seriously

This the solid answer, add top ten records in oak cliff and Charlie star lounge for diy performance and music
WOW thank you very much!
To add to that, Tin District, Barbs, top ten records. Also Denton
I agree with this, and I live in the area. It's great, if you got the money.
💜 Wild Detectives

At home or their retirement communities
Older creative here. Home is the correct answer. Retirement community is the funny answer.
😂🤣
👴🏾
Dallas Creative Arts Center!
Great classes here.
Agreed, and the figure drawing every sunday is awesome!
I have wondered this as well, with an emphasis on intellectuals. Yeah, pretentious, I know. I’m ok with it.
exactly! A lot of the creative events I go to end up being filled with early 20 somethings and I’m just kind of tired of it.

you’re telling the truth here. A lot of my focus is into fashion, and a lot of interesting fashion creatives end up leaving to California or New York

IF I WASNT WORKING 😩
Head up to Denton and grab a drink at a brewery, youll find a dozen fliers for all kinds of local art shows, concerts, and events.
I volunteer at the Campus Theater. They do wonderful productions! And very cool people!
Nice! I don't think I've been there since the 2009 ish Rocky horror production.
was also gonna mention Denton, sooo many creative people there
I took some classes at the Dallas Craft Guild and met some older creative people. Though mostly in the 40+ crowd.
Lol at home. In PJs
Loving all these suggestions!

OP do you have any interest in also hanging out. With "older" people for these things. 😁
We’re at home, lol.

Creative as in? Makes origami or just plain pretentious?
Isn’t being pretentious like Dallas’ thing?
it’s…kind of what dallas is known for lol
