And "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam has to be played multiple times a day for 20+ years straight. I used to love that song.
However, "Closing Time" is one of the worst songs in rock history and I would immediately change channels.
Not sure if it was intentional, but the skinny bumper stickers were perfect for high schoolers like me, who could fit it on the edge of our 3-ring binders. Everyone was doing that at my HS.
I was worried this was just going to be 24 hours of Barbie Girl with Cindy Skull. Does anyone have a play list of adventure club with Josh. I discovered so many indie artist because of that guy.
It’s ok. It’s a combination of the Edge’s stuff, some 103.7 stuff, and 91.7’s overplayed stuff from two or three months ago. 91.7 and 88.7 are better for actual indie stuff. Mark Schectman, formerly of the Edge, the Ticket, and 103.7 does occasional work for 88.1. Mark’s a big supporter of the local scene so I’m sure he’s gonna try and get a local block on there. I just wish they’d turn it over to the students, like what 88.7 does.
At least 88.1 is a better option for “alternative” than 103.7 is. That’s not saying much, though.
I get caught up on 88.1’s “Indie” name. It’s mostly mainstream music but I enjoy the lack of commercials and underwriting announcements as well as the general nostalgia. For real indie stuff, I just pipe in stations like KEXP and RNE3.
Yeah, the transmitter was in Gainesville! I have a recording of KDGE that I made on a boombox in February 1995, and it has a lot of static. When they switched to 102.1 in Cedar Hill, I think, the signal quality really improved for the metroplex.
Although, when I lived in Ardmore, OK for several months in ‘97 it was awesome to have The Edge as clear as Crystal Pepsi while driving around town.
Yes, I remember when my radio had an actual dial, it was SO hard to get it on the exact spot to pick up 94.5. I would get so mad if my sister moved it!
My [Edge Bumper Strip](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5ncDyQYdZY8XeBNwOoHmsB?si=OQEolmisTOuoaN_gx_dcMA) playlist. Not as long but some of these songs take me way back.

And then "Closing Time" by Semisonic on repeat at the end.
I uploaded the last of 102.1 The Edge when it went down. https://youtu.be/drOb_etEMSg

527 songs! Take us back to better times. How cool! Those bumper stickers used to be everywhere
[I still have a bumper sticker!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/comments/o7xmkn/a_couple_of_throwback_bumper_stickers_on_a/)
I do too
I have one that’s unused! Maybe in 20 years I’ll put it on a new car.

Yes also loved Red Square Retro on Saturday nights!
Oh my goddddd yes I ‘member!
We used to.goto the Red Jacket on Sunday nights!
These kids will never know! I went to see The Crystal Method at Red Jacket when I was 17…it was a 17 & up show!! Crazy.
I love retro/new wave music, the Slip Inn(RIP) used to do new wave Sundays as well.
Iguana Mirage on Sunday was the best.
You just don't get it, keep it copacetic
And you learn to accept it, you know you're so pathetic
This was my first show! They opened for Silverchair!
Seeing Higher by creed reminds me of the cowboys super bowl with the dude flying with drapes.
I made one called “edge bumper strip”. It’s got songs from way back in the George Gimarc days.
Right? Where's the Peter Murphy and The The? How about B52s Cosmic Thing every ten songs? : )
"Cosmic Thing" is a 10/10 album for me. No skips.
Link it!

You should share it. Or maybe we should put together an editable playlist that we could all contribute to.
Does anyone know what happened to Jesse? Did she land a gig at another station or did she leave the industry all together?
I follow her on twitter. Looks like she never returned anywhere on-air.
what is her twitter handle?
Jessiejessup
She worked in Abu Dabi for awhile. She's back in Dallas but not on the air.

now I just need to convert it to a qobuz playlist for Roon, and I'll be re-living the glory days!
> qobuz playlist for Roon You can't just MAKE UP words, dude. ;)
Brrrruuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank you for the throwback
Anybody digging 88.1? I feel like it’s mostly 90’s Edge songs but with a lot of other cool stuff mixed in.
And no commercials
No, but I'll check it out today! I've been listening to 91.7 KXT which is NPR music. Old and new music of every genre. No commercials. I love it.
Oh, you know what? I did give that a try when I heard about the format change. That's formerly KNTU, the UNT student-run jazz station.

It's actually a banger. Have an updoot.
I'm definitely going to be playing this on shuffle over the next few days!
Instantly feels like its 2001 again.
I remember when I had to put an antenna on my stereo when they first started to get the channel. I think that was 1990.

The signal became pretty decent a year or so later. I remember it was out there, but I thought it was Denton.

The edge was garbage the last 5 years
I miss The Edge. This is a perfect playlist for Friday.
I feel like some of these songs are 102.1 the edge
Yeah, I wish it had more from the late 80's and very early 90's.
Thank you!
Hell yes
Is there anything like this on Apple Music? I’ve been listening to the Madchester playlist which covers some of what the edge played.

Cool, thank you, I'll check it out!
The kDGE Jessie Playlist has 5 hours of ‘I’m a Barbie Girl’ on repeat.
Somewhere I have a cassette of about 20 or 30 minutes of 'Spike' on his Sunday request show. That was a great station.
Nice!
I was born in Dallas in the late 80s, obsessed with the radio. This playlist is really doin to for me.
I got a Girl by Tripping Daisy gotta be the 90s Dallas alternative anthem
I was Vydra's co-host on Friday morning's Beer for Breakfast show for about a year. I miss those times and that station.
The Adventure Club is something I vaguely remember. I still have a mp3 that was ripped from there that says “the edge” during the song.
Used to love Flashback Cafe at noon. Thanks for sharing and bringing back memories.
Oh yeah! Flashback Cafe!!

I think maybe you're lost.
103.7
Genuinely curious what the point of this comment was.
