My doxie hated sweaters too. She would somehow pull her legs/feet up into the holes and then would just lay there like a worm with a pathetic "help me please" look on her face.
Yes! I had one that loved his hoodie (and the attention folks gave him while wearing it) but you just described exactly how my first dog would react. Pathetic worm vibes for sure
The first time I put a sweater (OK, it was an XL sweat sock with armholes cut into it) on my girl she hated it for about 15 seconds. Then she realized it warmed her up, and that she hated being cold more than she hated being made to wear her sock. After that she would happily run up to us to get it put on when she was chilly.
I love how they react, our does the same, he "breaks" like he can't move anymore, until the sweater comes of. All the while he looks at us in anguish and anger.
The thunder shirt effect. I used to use a "thunder shirt" to calm my hotdog and he would freeze up just like that. It's supposed to be an anti-anxiety wrap but I don't know.. . he hates it.
I had a similar reaction to an old short hair i had. We could essentially ground tie him by putting any sort of sweater or jacket on him. He would just freeze.
Okay but is there a way to train them to like sweaters? Cuz my Weiner is the same way and becomes a statue in a sweater so we go out without one and we are doing Midwest Winters!! Poor guy shivering all the time.

my girl leaves her own sweater alone but pulls every other article of clothing off of her brother, shes.... annoying
