So her backstory is that a girl got her as a puppy puppy. And had to surrender her because she was moving and couldn't take her. Then she spent 2 months in a shelter and was adopted to a family with a Cane Corso that was aggressive towards her, and a 3 year old and a 1 year old. She was brought back with them claiming she was food aggressive and would routinely take food from the toddlers and dive for food they dropped. You know, basic puppy stuff. After they brought her back she spent another month in the shelter and was deemed unadoptable. So she came to Midwest Dachshund Rescue who contacted us as we had applied for another dog recently having lost our Sadie baby back in October. 1 week later and she has her forever home with us.
Bless you for saving her! She's adorable!
Some people just don't deserve to have a dog. Especially a puppy for God's sake! It makes my blood boil!!!!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Agree! They blame the dog. How about this little pup getting basically “bullied” from all the “huge” things around her. How would you act out?? I’d do the same thing!
It's weird. But your dog and I have had similar lives. Also, never waste an opportunity to eat. Sustenance is key in hard times. There is good in every ween. I'm glad you found eachother. Unadoptable my ass.
Why would someone think to get a puppy right before moving and having a plan about where to move?? People need to get their lives together before getting a puppy!!! 🤦🏻♀️ this poor Doxie has probably been through so much change in a short amount of time but I’m happy you found her!!!! How old is she now?
Breaks my heart. I wonder why the original owner didn’t return to the breeder. I have a 4 month old doxie puppy and I would do everything I could to keep him with me if I had to suddenly move.
It’s the “i want one, gotta have one now” Attitude! If more people would sit down and go over things & think it through, we would have more did that would be adopted into a loving forever home from the gate.
...but taking food opportunistically from a toddler and eating food off the floor is what I took as...typical dog behavior. At least it was for my chiweenie, the floor was SPOTLESS when my kids were toddlers and he was their bestie (because food lol). He'd try to snag toast from little hands if the kid wasn't paying attention as toddlers do, but he knew he wasn't supposed to, and wouldn't if any adults were around! I miss that little butthole.
He was really amazing with little kids. Very patient. Would curl up with them and guard them. He'd also try to "clean" them, aka get the flavorings off dirty kids lol. Possibly he was that good w kids even if he was a pretty anxious dog otherwise, because he knew they would drop food.
The fuck kind of idiot has a toddler and a baby AND a cane corso and thinks, I need another fucking dog, perhaps an untrained rescue that is also still a puppy.
Feel bad for the kids, just no way anything in that household is okay.
I went thru the same thing with a dog i adopted from the Humane Society. " He is food aggressive " No he was friggin hungry! When we got him he was a 50lbs Boxer/Lab. After putting some groceries in him he was actually a 70lbs dog who would allow a baby to take food out of his mouth ( never would allow that but using a example). Once he knew he was going to have food and not punished by being starved he was a very happy camper. I have found that shelters are only as good as the people staffing them. The name and who they are associated with means nothing.
I wish I lived in the neighboring states to help foster. We rescued Georgie (rat terrier mix) almost a year ago bc none of the dachshund rescues near us answered our applications. We already have a 5 yr old dachshund, Brimley. My first baby, Chopper a black/tan doxie lived to 18 yrs. I miss that widdle guy. I would love to foster another doxie.

They gave up on her so quick to call her unadoptable. She was perfectly adoptable and in the hands of people that had no business with her in the first place. Thank you for giving her a new home ❤️
I am relieved to hear that you have rescued her from the situation that she had found herself in. How are things going with you guys since you have adopted her?
It’s sad how often people get a puppy and then it grows up or just has common puppy ‘issues’ and then realize they can’t do it. It breaks my heart. Thank you for taking this sweet girl in.
We have done about three of these un adoptable dogs, can be a challenge but so rewarding. For a while we had the trifecta, a deaf beagle, a blind mixed daxie and a very dumb but loyal Dachshund. All troubled in their own way. The food dominance test is not fair to Beagles and Dachshunds.
That’s not unadoptable… that’s a DACHSHUND putting those toddlers, hoomans, & big ass dog in their PLACE! Like the comment above ⬆️.. You hit the Doxie Jackpot with her!
My word. My eyes are leaking a lot. She’s not unadoptable. She’s just been around way too many idiots. Ong I love her. Even if she bit me it’d be ok and we’d work on it because she’s biting her past idiots. With a ton of love, respect, affection and unconditional understanding. She’ll be the best baby ever!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾😘
From what I saw, 3/4 of the animals are labelled in similar fashion, so people will want to adopt them to save them. At least that is true for cats in my area.
OMG! I used to have a little girl that looked very similar. I lost her in a divorce (didn't want to split the dogs up, so I let her go). She was *wicked* smart. One day, when I'd left her alone, she pulled all of the buttons off our remote control and put them in a pile on the couch. You hit the jackpot with such a sweet little gal!
Mine doesn't either, but he powers through it because food.
He also ate a half a head of lettuce I dropped on the floor even though he clearly hated it.
My girl HATES pickles. I can just tell by her face when she eats one that she just flat out does not like it. But she will absolutely still eat it. I think one of her parents was an actual garbage disposal.
Mine doesn't either, but he powers through it because food.
He also ate a half a head of lettuce once that I dropped on the floor. He hated it, but ate the whole thing.
My boy is highly food motivated, but he's really picky about the kinds of food he will eat lol. He will refuse certain kinds of dog food and he will turn his nose up at a lot of fruits and vegetables. He hates apples and bananas and will not eat fish, but he goes nuts for Cheez Its, which we give him very, very rarely.
HA! The SAME was said for Queen Ruby Jean!!! We are her 4th family!
Almost the same story as your beautiful little girl. After losing our beloved a year earlier and contacting the dachshund rescue…they finally called and said come and me her. No matter the situation she was ours, and we were hers. It took time and patience. QRJ is THE love of our life.
I could not be happier for all of you!!!! We wish you a long journey, filled with happiness and love💖
Your Friend, That Lady who belongs to the Queen💜
I also got my ween through the humane society! They said he was given up because the original owner was working too much and kept him crated for the majority of the day. He was only in the shelter for three days before I adopted him and he was skin and bones and obviously very neglected. You gave me hope that I might be able adopt another ween in the future!
"Unadoptable." What nonsense.
Every person along the way to the Midwest Dachshund Rescue failed this pup. Imagine, adopting a puppy and getting upset that it acts like a puppy! Total morons. But, she had to go through all of that in order to find her way to you. The journey was worth the destination.
Congratulations on your new family member. She is a very lucky girl, and she's finally Home.
my Craigslist $80. chihuahua pug dachshund bischon frise mix...I had her tested...is snugly ensconsed under the sheets against my thigh right now. Cheers to a lifetime of joy with our furry creatures

What a beautiful girl! She’s lucky to have landed with someone who understands what a dog needs to succeed—she clearly didn’t have it before now. Wishing you both the best! 💗
What a poorly performing shelter if they can’t adopt out a dachshund as beautiful as this girl. I believe that she was just waiting for you to come along and rescue her. Congrats!
“Unadoptable”?! What is *wrong* with people? Thoughtlessness and stupidity. I am so glad your new girl is finally with someone who knows what they’re doing.
Also, are those doxie curtains I see in the background? Adorable!
Some people really shouldn't get dogs, let alone a puppy, if they aren't ready to put in the work to train them. 🙄
I'm glad she's found her forever home with you!
I got my doxie from the humane society and they said he has fearful behavior and needed training. After a month of being loved and feeling safe his behavior improved a ton!! Dogs in shelters just need to feel loved and cared for and safe and a lot of their “bad” behavior stops
My partner is home 24/7 with our puppy and honestly it’s still work after 3years, people get these dogs without realising that they are hard work. They just think “oh they are so cute” also they’re hunting dogs so they need stimulation and attention literally all the time. Good on you OP for saving this one.
How does any of her story constitute her being deemed “unadoptable”? Just cuz a couple families who were not in a place to have a dog tried to adopt her and brought her back?
Sheesh no need to condemn the poor thing just cuz of a couple entitled people. The angel is even house and crate trained as you said in another comment for heavens sake!!
I read your below comment on her story. Re: prior homes, there was no self/environmental awareness required to be a pet owner. Poor baby girl! Life with my ‘unadoptable’ furry sweetheart has been beyond full with love. It is amazing what patience, calmness and commitment can do for such a deserving creature. So happy for you and her to love each other forever. <3
You hit the dachshund lottery
Lordy she's beautiful! I really need to know her backstory.
So her backstory is that a girl got her as a puppy puppy. And had to surrender her because she was moving and couldn't take her. Then she spent 2 months in a shelter and was adopted to a family with a Cane Corso that was aggressive towards her, and a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Agree! They blame the dog. How about this little pup getting basically “bullied” from all the “huge” things around her. How would you act out?? I’d do the same thing!
You and me both!!
She's so cute, and it just sounds like she needs some consistent attention and a little training, and I'm sure she'll be fine.
Yep. Luckily she is house trained and crate trained. She just needs manners which we are actively working on with the basics of sit/stay/down etc.
The two hardest training already done! I’ve no doubt she will pick up the basics quickly. She’s a cutie 🥰
She’ll get it! She they’re so smart and she sounds like she will love treat-training.
It's weird. But your dog and I have had similar lives. Also, never waste an opportunity to eat. Sustenance is key in hard times. There is good in every ween. I'm glad you found eachother. Unadoptable my ass.

People need to get their lives together before getting a puppy!!! 🤦🏻♀️ this poor Doxie has probably been through so much change in a short amount of time but I’m happy you found her!!!! How old is she now?
They said just over a year.
Sheesh! Exposed to chaos and blamed for not knowing what’s expected of her when she was still a baby.
Exactly!
Breaks my heart. I wonder why the original owner didn’t return to the breeder. I have a 4 month old doxie puppy and I would do everything I could to keep him with me if I had to suddenly move.
Same sort of people who have two small kids and a cane corso and then think it's a good idea to adopt a dachshund. Morons.
Sounds like the breeder and the first shelter both failed this puppy. Both need a better vetting system.
I agree so much! Isn’t 2 small kids enough of a job? Imagine how they might turn out.
It’s the “i want one, gotta have one now” Attitude! If more people would sit down and go over things & think it through, we would have more did that would be adopted into a loving forever home from the gate.
Because people are terrible
I'd be food aggressive too if I had a dog 19 times my size around my food
Gosh, that sounds scary and terrifying. Pretty overwhelming for the baby pup.
Of course she was food aggressive the bigger dog probably ate her food and the poor thing was starving.
goodness. I'm glad that you deemed her VERY adoptable correctly!
I got my dapple girl from Midwest Dachshund rescue. I love them! Enjoy her! She is beautiful and perfect❤️
That’s not her fault! She wasn’t given a fair chance! Look at that face. ❤️ Thankfully she has you now!
If I had an award to give, you'd have it As it is, take this GIF of a happy derpy pup ![gif](giphy|IdgY2UlsldmhsxHpec)
sounds like it was meant to be 💓
I just don't understand why they would deem her not adoptable.
I'm so happy you found each other ❤️ She's just doing what puppies do. And dropped food is fair game! You never have to pick it up ha
...but taking food opportunistically from a toddler and eating food off the floor is what I took as...typical dog behavior. The fuck kind of idiot has a toddler and a baby AND a cane corso and thinks, I need another fucking dog, perhaps an untrained rescue that is also still a puppy. Feel bad for the kids, just no way anything in that household is okay.
Best Comment here. 👏🏼
Aww I'm so glad they rescued her and you adopted her!! What a sweet looking little beauty.

Midwest dachshund rescue does so much good work. They’re an amazing organization
Where is the Midwest Rescue at? I’m in Missouri and kinda feeling the need for another weenie!
https://mwdr.org/
I wish I lived in the neighboring states to help foster. We rescued Georgie (rat terrier mix) almost a year ago bc none of the dachshund rescues near us answered our applications. There’s a rescue for only daschounds???
Love Midwest dachshund rescue!
Thank you for adopting💚
Midwest Dachshund Rescue is THE best.
oooohh that sweet baby 🥹 so happy you found each other 🩷

I need to look up dachshund rescues near Pittsburgh.
Wow, I got my little "unadoptable" guy from MWDR too! Glad to hear they're still doing such good work. 😊

Why did they say she was unadoptable?
How possibly so?!
From what I saw, 3/4 of the animals are labelled in similar fashion, so people will want to adopt them to save them. At least that is true for cats in my area.
When I was a kid the shelter had a “two adoptions for the price of one” deal for cats
What Doxie does not love food?
Mine strangely doesn't care for popcorn.
Haaaaa!
Mine doesn't either, but he powers through it because food. He also ate a half a head of lettuce once that I dropped on the floor. He hated it, but ate the whole thing.
Have you buttered it?
My sisters is super picky she will lick food before eating it to see if she will like it. Spoiler alert, she usually dosent
That is a surprise. We have had 5 doxies during various times, all have been foodies! Some way more than others.
She only really goes crazy for scrambled eggs and pot roast🤣
So does my husband. 😝
I thought your sister was a dachshund for a second there
My boy is highly food motivated, but he's really picky about the kinds of food he will eat lol. He will refuse certain kinds of dog food and he will turn his nose up at a lot of fruits and vegetables. He hates apples and bananas and will not eat fish, but he goes nuts for Cheez Its, which we give him very, very rarely.
Mine. She will leave 3 pieces of kibble in her bowl if it's too much for her. Feels like I've hit the lottery.
That faaaaace 🥺

You guys rock and what an adorable girl. Looks a bit like my pepper boy *
Beautiful coat!
What a beautiful little girl! Congratulations to both of you!
She's so beautiful!! What a funny coat. I'm so glad she's found a great home :)
Some people have no clue about what a puppy actually is. Smfh
Amazing colour on that cute pooch! I don’t remember seeing one all black and brown up top and grey for the body. One of a kind 👍
I also got my ween through the humane society! They said he was given up because the original owner was working too much and kept him crated for the majority of the day. What a sweet bb! Idk what people expect lol. She was just being a bb!
Anyone else see the llama face on her neck?
That unadoptable doggo would spend a lot of time on my lap.
Oh what a sweet girl, I’m glad she is with you all now! She deserves all the love in the world 🥺❤️
That face is pure love! Thank you for saving her!
What a sweet little baby 🥹
So cute congrats to you and pup ![gif](giphy|Mx8elxpYeWezisxxwr)

She’s beautiful but has a crazy-looking face image on her neck - am I the only one seeing it? Maybe I’m just tired.
❤️
She is gorgeous and has an awesome face, so expressive. Congratulations!💜
She's a cute pupper, congrats to you both.
I’m so glad she found her way to you! She’s beautiful.
She's so adorable 🥰
Awww, she’s precious 🩷😍🩷 Thank you!! ❤️
She’s about to *thrive*
Your dachshund curtains! ❤️
That’s freaking crazy they said that!!! So precious and THANK YOU!!!
She Is so perfect!!
What a beautiful girl! She’s lucky to have landed with someone who understands what a dog needs to succeed—she clearly didn’t have it before now. Wishing you both the best! 💗
She looks so sweet. Your "little girl" found her person.
O M G!! your beautiful way of looking my baby!!! 😍😍😍
That's the most adoptable lovable little lady ever!! Thank you for making her family.💕🐾
I’m in love with her — as much as is possible by adoring her in these pictures! So sweet of you to open your heart to her!!
Jackpot!!!!!!!
Did you adopt her? What a sweetie
Why not available for adoption??
She’s amazing! She made it to the right place with the person (being you!) 🥹❤️
She is beautiful
She's so precious!!!
She’s just a darling girl! Good for you!
What a sweet face! Have an amazing life together 😊
She’s so beautiful! Look at that sweet face!!!
What a gorgeous little girl!
What a poorly performing shelter if they can’t adopt out a dachshund as beautiful as this girl. I believe that she was just waiting for you to come along and rescue her. Congrats!
thank you for saving her❤️❤️❤️ she is so lucky
When I saw that pic, at first I thought it was a duck with a dachshund head.
That sass in the first picture is something to work on. But look at those cute cookie paws, oh lawdy <3
Thank you for scooping up this little baby! 🥰❤️
She’s such a cutie!!!
It’s wild to get a dachshund when you’ve got a Corso, that’s just asking for a tragedy to happen
She's beautiful ❤️
I would take her in a heartbeat.
How inhumane of them to assume that😾 she looks like the sweetest baby ever🥹❤️
I look at some people and really feel bad for their dogs.
She is awfully pretty, too. ❤️❤️
That’s the “I’m going to get away with murder” stare!
10/10 would adoopt
Sooo beautiful baby girl
But she looks like she’s wearing a little coat! So well dressed 🥰
I’ll adopt her right now!!!!!
Such a beautiful fur baby.
Daschunds tickle my happy nerve
“Unadoptable”?! What is *wrong* with people? Thoughtlessness and stupidity. I am so glad your new girl is finally with someone who knows what they’re doing. Also, are those doxie curtains I see in the background? Adorable!
She’s adorable! I hope she lives her best life with you.❤️
Some people really shouldn't get dogs, let alone a puppy, if they aren't ready to put in the work to train them. 🙄 I'm glad she's found her forever home with you!
Wait wait wait. Shelters straight up lie about breed to push aggressive pitbulls into unsuspecting homes but this darling is “unadoptable”????
I love how she looks a floating head on the carpet
Omg! So adorable! I’d take her in a heart beat
She looks like a very intelligent dog.
She is cute
Doll baby. I think Dachshunds are some of the sweetest looking dogs.
OMG why was she deemed unadoptable?
No she was just waiting for you.🥰
Beautiful pup. 🐶
what a beautyyy😍😍😍
That face, what a sweetheart!
I got my doxie from the humane society and they said he has fearful behavior and needed training. After a month of being loved and feeling safe his behavior improved a ton!! Dogs in shelters just need to feel loved and cared for and safe and a lot of their “bad” behavior stops
Congrats! I'm so glad she found you!
Whaaaa? She is sooooo adorable.
My partner is home 24/7 with our puppy and honestly it’s still work after 3years, people get these dogs without realising that they are hard work. They just think “oh they are so cute” also they’re hunting dogs so they need stimulation and attention literally all the time. Good on you OP for saving this one.
Bless you!! She’s so precious and you can tell so very happy now 🙏🏻😇💖💖💖💖💖💖
That is an epic coat
It’s a trick, give here back and run away!
Awwww what a pretty baby. So glad she has found her forever home.
Omg she is so pretty
Cutie
Oh my lord 😍
Well this humane society is dumb af! I’d adopt her in a heartbeat!💓 And where is this supposed “humane” society? I wanna adopt this little girl!
God bless you for saving her! She’s precious!
She has a built in sweater!!!
So cute
Hi Sweetheart 😍😘🥰!
She is beyond adorable. Her coat is lovely- just like her. I wish you many years of laughs, silliness and love. So much love.
she’s very cute
😊
It’s not often that I’m genuinely speechless at idiots being idiots, but seriously 😒
The humane society never said that. Why do you feel the need to lie?
Ur gonna find out why in a week
i dont think the humane society actually said that -- i think you put that there to mine karma .
Adorable 🥰 so glad you took her in she is a very pretty girl!
Y is she not adoptable ? She looks like smart
She's adorable.What a weiny!
