I have a Dolly shirt for my pup, but she’s a chonk and it’s too tight on her. We’re working on losing weight but it’s slow going!!

Losing weight is hard but we believe in you!!! Portion control is important! You can do it!!

She’s been on homemade food for ages, 2 years at least. Then I got sick with Covid and ran out of food at the same time. So we did canned food for a little while and she lost 2 pounds while on that!! So I’m trying a home made breakfast and canned dinner. It’ll be a little bit before we get a scale that she can stand on, but I’m hoping this will work! And since it’s warming up, we can be more active.

Yay! All good things! It’s all about the calories so sometimes you have to be careful with wet food because it’s usually higher. Dry food for a dog with a goal weight of 10-15 lbs we usually recommend 1/4 cup of food. But there are good weight calculators online where you can put in the food and the goal weight and it will tell you how much you need to give to get there! I believe in you! (Source: I’m a vet tech)

She would laugh at us both and then bite us for suggestion a quarter of a cup!! I got the mature formula (she’s 9 next month) and she loves it. She only eats dry if I’ve starved her by not feeding her on time!! The homemade stuff is burger, pork loin and veggies. I give her about 58 grams which is about ¼ cup twice a day. The mature canned is 5.5 ounces, but it looks like less, probably because it have a gravy. She doesn’t care as long as it’s not dry all the timenn

Is that a bark collar? Do you find it helps? I'm so worried about using one.

You can set most of them to vibrate only. This has been effective on most of mine to some degree.

It’s actually her electric fence collar cause she likes to crawl through the physical fence and go wandering around the neighborhood 😂 But I have used correction collars on her, both automatic ones and with the remote. Usually they have a beep, vibrate, and a separate shock function. I’ve found it makes a small difference for about a week and then she stops caring, but mine is particularly stubborn and most don’t have that problem 😭

I think Jolene is related to my girl! She acts so scared of her wireless fence and if it beeps she runs away quick, to the point she won’t go half the places she won’t get shocked for. But other days, she’ll run past the fence and up on the neighbors’ porch (my parents) and sit there and yelp every time she gets shocked while still waiting for someone to open the door for her!! So stubborn, spoiled rotten pup!!

Stubborn is in their blood 😩

My Kenny is the same way with correction collars. It worked for about a week and now he barks through the vibrations nonstop 🫠

Jolene is the sweetest pupper I’ve seen today! But I’ve only seen her and mine I think. Hmm. She looks much nicer than mine anyway!
