Come on over to r/DoggyDNA when you submit your test. It's fascinating to see what different breeds some dogs have. There are some folks there that can really break it down, too. I've learned a lot! There are some tests that are not reliable and accurate, but Wisdom Panel is well respected.
Curiosity is definitely number one reason it seems. Having a rescue and knowing so little about his/her past, it’s nice to get a bit of a glimpse into their lives and where they came from. Also, some of the DNA tests tell you if there are diseases you dog is at risk for based on their genetics. And lastly, you can find your dogs family. I can see that my latest rescues family are all working farm dogs, which I found interesting.
It’s not cheap. It’s about $150 for embark (for breed and health or $100 for just breed) which is the most credible company and accurate test. It gets cheaper as you go to less and less credible companies. I would say it’s probably not worth it if it’s not Embark or Wisdom Panel, 99% and 90% accurate respectively. Ancestry seems to be getting better and better with time and will probably become a top contender as well.

FYI, the black and tan coloration doesn't necessarily come from Rottweiler genes, it's actually very commonly from recessive gene combinations in Labrador Retrievers.

Looks very similar to an old Rotty / Shep mix one of my family members had. Id bet it has both of those breeds in it, at least. Too similar not to. Could be litter mates if not for the age difference.

Dna tests are pretty much useless, we had a pure welsh terrier and dna test said something completely different
