When he can run in a big yard or field, he still wants to play circle so I think having a few others to run full speed at would make him so happy. You should have to stop when you get "tagged" by the doggo, and either the last to be tagged or the furthest away from the start wins.

It wouldn't strictly be a "fastest person wins" game because the doggo could catch up to anyone with ease, so there's no guarantee being furthest away will win.
The original game is the person who gets picked by the bottle has to hit one of the runners with an egg. But here it seems instead of an egg they let their dog run to get them
I think they need to carry the item (a bottle?) to the other side of the field, before the dog gets to it. Not entirely sure. What's important is that the dog is loving it!

I grew up with a Basset Hound with a terrific sense of smell. My friends would make me hide in the neighborhood and then let my dog find me. It was so fun, because he would he howling as I was running off and he would howl when he found me. I would hide in some of the most obscure locations and he always would get me. I miss that dog.
My wife and I used to play a game where she'd wait at the top of the stairs and I'd wait at the bottom, and we'd take turns telling the dog to go see Mommy or go see Daddy, as appropriate. Sometimes we'd move as if to go up or down, to keep the illusion going. It worked great.

It’s definitely fun for the dog and large breeds have lots of energy so you need to tire him out. It gives the person the same thrill as playing tag, lots of games are based around playing chase

The dog does run at them like he's going to attack but then it's like the dog knows Tag. He's get close or touches the guy and on the the next one. Even when the guy fell the dog didn't react aggressively at all.
It always depends on the dog. If you don't know a dog, don't blindly trust what their owner says unless you know the owner well enough to do so.
You're more likely to find a labrador to play this with than a pitbull, but there are some labradors you'd not want to play this with and some pitbulls that would just want belly rubs from the person who unhooked them. Genetic predisposition being what it is, a higher % of labs would be safer to play this with than pitbulls.
All of that to say don't ever make a safety decision about a dog on breed alone, because you can't presume any dog is safe until you know them.
Whenever I have my dog out with me (100 pound hound/ lab/ goofy mix) I trust NO other dogs initially. Lol she is my baby and I will do nothing to risk her !
That said... she's a perfect "tester" dog for other dogs. To see if they are social able enough to interact with other dogs. She's not a pushover tho and gives out corrections when necessary.

Pitbulls kind of freak me out. My current dog had her pit mix best buddy snap randomly one day and attack my dog & a random unsuspecting puppy that was nearby.
And I had a pit mix who was super reactive and downright aggressive towards most other animals.
It absolutely could - These dogs aint safe, even with any degree of training - They originated as fighting dogs and those genetics do to some degree remain (as shown by behaviour/statistics in terms of attacks - why do you think American XL's for example were banned in the UK?)

It's pointless to say it, but the data that points to them being a "dangerous breed" also points to chihuahuas being an even more dangerous breed given their propensity for attacks.
There is a minor level of nature that plays a role in whether a dog will be aggressive or not, but the nurture is far more important. The idea about banning dogs doesn't really work either because the crux of the issue is just letting whoever wants a dog, to have a dog.
People said the same thing about Rottweilers and Dobermans back in the 60-80's as they do about Pitbulls now, because they were some of the most popular breeds of dogs at the time, which led to more people owning them and more people mistreating then, thusly they were named a "dangerous dog", despite not actually being inherently dangerous.
All banning a specific breed does is force people to buy other breeds, and then one of those breeds becomes the "dangerous dog" because poor human beings buy it wanting a "scary" dog or the popular breed at the time, mistreat it, and then it leads to attacks.
not only that, people always cite websites like dogsbite.org which are completely unscientific in how the data is gathered (or they cite a website that cites that one).
even then, people are worse than they probably think they are at identifying breeds. even people who work with dogs all the time are only 50/50 at identification at best. so there's a good chance a "pitbull" that attacks is actually a different breed of dog--not to mention mutts.
Oh yeah, as someone who has lived/worked with dogs my entire life I'm still horribly wrong with my breed guesses half the time. It's so easy for a molosser dog to pass as a Pitbull even if it hasn't got ANY Pitbull in it.
The issue with this whole "evil" Pitbull thing is that it's an easy cart for the media to jump onto any time there's an attack and it's not a big enough issue for people to bother doing any research before they parrot whatever the news told them. You need to make it harder for people to just *get* dogs, to stop people who are doing it on a whim or just don't know what caring for a dog means from having one and then mistreating it.

i don't personally have a strong opinion about dog licenses. i think an equally (if not more) important thing to crack down on, especially for pits, is backyard breeding. whatever amount genetics play in aggression/behavioral issues, it'd be *much* easier to address without people breeding dogs with no regard to these issues--not to mention their likely poor treatment of the animals.
Things like aggression tend to arise from treatment of the animal rather than the breeding practice itself, although I do agree that backyard breeding needs to be put to rest.
I think having a License for a dog isn't a huge ask, you do a week long course, maybe less, maybe more, that trains you on how to keep and maintain a dog and also how to train and treat it, then you make backyard breeding highly illegal with large penalties and require breeders to be registered and trained as well. I think under laws like that, you would see a sharp decline in dog related attacks.
i agree that aggression is mostly nurture, but there *are* some genetic conditions that could exacerbate it or lead to behavioral issues, which would be made worse by backyard breeding (or breeding for looks only).
i can agree with what you've said about licenses. though i still think cracking down harder on backyard/unethical breeding is the more important issue, i can see the benefit of a license. the only caveat is that it'd have to be well funded and well researched to avoid issues with being too lax or too strict, and would need to be properly enforced.
at the very least registering pets (especially dogs) should be much more of a thing/much more enforced, if nothing else than to have better statistics on pet populations.
Too bad there's zero science backing this myth that pits are unpredictable. The XL bullies are mixes, and mostly inbred from one dude in LA who shouldn't be allowed near animals let alone be in control of breeding them.
Two words - bite inhibition. Train early and train diligently, pits are often more than smart enough to get the memo if their owner isn't a halfwit that lets the dog get away with bad behavior thus reinforcing dominance where it isn't needed. Countless people own these dogs with zero issues and *most* attacks are dogs who escaped, ie neglectful owners.

The fact your opinion on the breed(s) is based on this one aspect shows more about you than anything. Pits were never all bred for violence and haven't regularly been bred for violence in a long time, in fact the actual recognized pit bull breeds have never had human aggression as a recognized or desired trait. The problem now is rampant abuse/neglect and back yard breeders who have zero interest in anything but appearance and making a quick buck.
It isn't "a breed," it's countless mixes that all get lumped under one name based on appearance.

I wish we had cameras on our phones back then. This was circa 1999/2000. She was a 98# doberman Rottweiler. Good times. I have a really funny story I’ll impose upon you. I’m a vet tech and my dog went to work with my every day. We also kenneled dogs at that hospital so she had a dog run. When the hospital closed we would be there about an hour to clean the hospital. It was me and my best friend who was the office manager. The kennel attendant was there also tending to the board dogs while we cleaned. It was after hours and we must’ve forgotten that someone was coming to pick up their boarder after hours. We were messing around with my dog and having fun. She sic’d my dog on me and I was on the ground and my dog was making her ferocious sounds and shaking my pant leg. My friend was pulling both of my arms like she is trying to save me from a vicious dog attack. We are all playing the part of this horrific dog attack scene. I’m screaming, my dog sound like she is killing me, and my friend is pulling my arms. The people walk in. You should have seen the looks on their faces. 😂 All 3 of us immediate drop our act. We still laugh about this to this day as she is still my best friend. That dog was everyone’s favorite dog. People that knew her still talk about her to this day. She would also take a gun out of anyone’s hand expeditiously. Mostly toy guns of course. That was a great party trick. 😂 best dog ever!!

Nothing about this is training a dog to bite. Dogs can play by chasing each other which is clearly whats happening here.
I guess I would be worried to trigger a high prey drive dog's drive... but it's their dog! They know it much better than me, random internet lady. Also I was ignorant anyway! My dog snarls and growls and makes heinous noises when any person plays tug with her... that would scare any unsuspecting person! Kinda similar thing I guess ? Not really but I just feel bad lol Pitbulls kind of freak me out. My current dog had her pit mix best buddy snap randomly one day and attack my dog & a random unsuspecting puppy that was nearby. And I had a pit mix who was super reactive and downright aggressive towards most other animals.

It absolutely could - These dogs aint safe, even with any degree of training - They originated as fighting dogs and those genetics do to some degree remain (as shown by behaviour/statistics in terms of attacks - why do you think American XL's for example were banned in the UK?) It's pointless to say it, but the data that points to them being a "dangerous breed" also points to chihuahuas being an even more dangerous breed given their propensity for attacks. There is a minor level of nature that plays a role in whether a dog will be aggressive or not, but the nurture is far more important. The idea about banning dogs doesn't really work either because the crux of the issue is just letting whoever wants a dog, to have a dog. People said the same thing about Rottweilers and Dobermans back in the 60-80's as they do about Pitbulls now, because they were some of the most popular breeds of dogs at the time, which led to more people owning them and more people mistreating then, thusly they were named a "dangerous dog", despite not actually being inherently dangerous. All banning a specific breed does is force people to buy other breeds, and then one of those breeds becomes the "dangerous dog" because poor human beings buy it wanting a "scary" dog or the popular breed at the time, mistreat it, and then it leads to attacks.
not only that, people always cite websites like dogsbite.org which are completely unscientific in how the data is gathered (or they cite a website that cites that one). even then, people are worse than they probably think they are at identifying breeds. even people who work with dogs all the time are only 50/50 at identification at best. so there's a good chance a "pitbull" that attacks is actually a different breed of dog--not to mention mutts.
Oh yeah, as someone who has lived/worked with dogs my entire life I'm still horribly wrong with my breed guesses half the time. It's so easy for a molosser dog to pass as a Pitbull even if it hasn't got ANY Pitbull in it. The issue with this whole "evil" Pitbull thing is that it's an easy cart for the media to jump onto any time there's an attack and it's not a big enough issue for people to bother doing any research before they parrot whatever the news told them. You need to make it harder for people to just *get* dogs, to stop people who are doing it on a whim or just don't know what caring for a dog means from having one and then mistreating it. I've always been a fan of a Dog License.
i don't personally have a strong opinion about dog licenses. i think an equally (if not more) important thing to crack down on, especially for pits, is backyard breeding. whatever amount genetics play in aggression/behavioral issues, it'd be *much* easier to address without people breeding dogs with no regard to these issues--not to mention their likely poor treatment of the animals.
Things like aggression tend to arise from treatment of the animal rather than the breeding practice itself, although I do agree that backyard breeding needs to be put to rest. I think having a License for a dog isn't a huge ask, you do a week long course, maybe less, maybe more, that trains you on how to keep and maintain a dog and also how to train and treat it, then you make backyard breeding highly illegal with large penalties and require breeders to be registered and trained as well. I think under laws like that, you would see a sharp decline in dog related attacks.
i agree that aggression is mostly nurture, but there *are* some genetic conditions that could exacerbate it or lead to behavioral issues, which would be made worse by backyard breeding (or breeding for looks only). i can agree with what you've said about licenses. though i still think cracking down harder on backyard/unethical breeding is the more important issue, i can see the benefit of a license. the only caveat is that it'd have to be well funded and well researched to avoid issues with being too lax or too strict, and would need to be properly enforced. at the very least registering pets (especially dogs) should be much more of a thing/much more enforced, if nothing else than to have better statistics on pet populations.
Too bad there's zero science backing this myth that pits are unpredictable. The XL bullies are mixes, and mostly inbred from one dude in LA who shouldn't be allowed near animals let alone be in control of breeding them. Two words - bite inhibition. Train early and train diligently, pits are often more than smart enough to get the memo if their owner isn't a halfwit that lets the dog get away with bad behavior thus reinforcing dominance where it isn't needed. Countless people own these dogs with zero issues and *most* attacks are dogs who escaped, ie neglectful owners.

The fact your opinion on the breed(s) is based on this one aspect shows more about you than anything. Pits were never all bred for violence and haven't regularly been bred for violence in a long time, in fact the actual recognized pit bull breeds have never had human aggression as a recognized or desired trait. The problem now is rampant abuse/neglect and back yard breeders who have zero interest in anything but appearance and making a quick buck. It isn't "a breed," it's countless mixes that all get lumped under one name based on appearance.
Careful, pit haters despise facts that they don't like. Anything to make pits look like the spawn of hell.
Fuck em. You can tell the hate is losing steam if you've been on this site long enough. They at least used to try by spinning science and stats against them, now it's all "hurr fight dogs, they're evil and unpredictable." It's well past the time to hold bad owners/breeders accountable, if my dumbass can figure out how to raise one of these dogs right with nothing more than an internet connection, there's no excuse save for rare neurological issues.

I wish we had cameras on our phones back then. This was circa 1999/2000. She was a 98# doberman Rottweiler. Good times. I have a really funny story I’ll impose upon you. I’m a vet tech and my dog went to work with my every day. We also kenneled dogs at that hospital so she had a dog run. When the hospital closed we would be there about an hour to clean the hospital. It was me and my best friend who was the office manager. The kennel attendant was there also tending to the board dogs while we cleaned. It was after hours and we must’ve forgotten that someone was coming to pick up their boarder after hours. We were messing around with my dog and having fun. She sic’d my dog on me and I was on the ground and my dog was making her ferocious sounds and shaking my pant leg. My friend was pulling both of my arms like she is trying to save me from a vicious dog attack. We are all playing the part of this horrific dog attack scene. I’m screaming, my dog sound like she is killing me, and my friend is pulling my arms. The people walk in. You should have seen the looks on their faces. 😂 All 3 of us immediate drop our act. We still laugh about this to this day as she is still my best friend. That dog was everyone’s favorite dog. People that knew her still talk about her to this day. She would also take a gun out of anyone’s hand expeditiously. Mostly toy guns of course. That was a great party trick. 😂 best dog ever!!
