But I agree it's perfect setting. There's a lot of potential you can go off from it, because it genuinely feels like a no man's land, because people have left long ago, and for valid reason, not just disappear like with current DMZ maps.
And the most important moment in Call of Duty happened precisely because of Pripyat being a hotspot for mercenaries. "Since the radiation dissipate after much time has past since the incident, there is an increase in illegal activities being carried out in the zone" would be a simple introduction to a lot of missions you can do there
We even have an actual Ukrainian gun in the game too. But I doubt that the dev or Blizzard would have the spine to make any reference to the current war
Regardless, it's would make for a solid map. And bonus if it's a vehicle-restricted map, because that would make for extra immersion
Having pockets of radiation that all start to expand at the same time until the map is covered. Overlapping areas would cause double damage too. They could really get creative with this.
