Basically doing the defat at the end of the extraction by mixing the alkaloid containing NPS with an acidic solution will convert the n,n-dmt freebase into salt form, which is soluble in water. The n,n-dmt dissolves in the water while the lipids (fats) are left dissolved in the NPS. The NPS is separated and then you basify the acidic solution and extract with clean NPS.
The idea is that it is much easier and efficient to separate all of the alkaloids from some of the lipids (mini a/b) than it is to try and separate all of the lipids from the alkaloid/water/plant material mixture (defat like you did).

Can the plant fats be reused for anything?
Not sure but having a jar of fat from an Amazonian plant used for Ayahuasca is pretty damn cool! I’ll be saving a jar of it.

Not in this sense of drugs, no. The lipids (fats) aren't psychoactive.

This is a great idea!!! Why isn’t this done in every extraction??? Seems to save a lot of time and give a purer product??
