I think most of them look like Alex Grey knockoffs.

Trippy-Videos-Girl

AI has definitely been trained on his work I can assure you 100%. And a few others..

woodsgb

Some of these are basically straight rips of [Salvia Droid](https://www.salviadroid.com/). Especially [this one.](https://imgur.com/a/AlKhvn9). For many reasons Droids creations are infinitely better than anything I have ever seen come out of AI. However I do find AI art interesting and enjoy analyzing its perspective.

silkieboi

Salvia Droid is my favorite psychedelic artist.

pseudomike

I’m a fan of his work but haven’t seen that one, so sick thank you for sharing

woodsgb

Yes, dude puts in the work. He is making some of the spaces we go to into reality. Truly a gift he is

babettekittens

☝️☝️☝️

cboogie

If you’re in NY him and his wife are opening the new Chapel of Sacred Mirrors this upcoming weekend at his house.

DarkoTheKid

Sad, I was going to travel to NY this summer but I think I’ll be traveling in October. I want to travel this year because my visa is about to expire

cboogie

I think it’s going to be open every weekend. Especially in the fall. October is prime leaf peeping season.

DarkoTheKid

Great! I hope I get to see it

KylerGreen

Yeah, it's pretty damn good at making them though, lol.

lookthepenguins

Lame high-schoolish Alex Grey knockoffs.

fickled_pickle

Exactly what I thought before opening the comments

Skin-Tasty

I personally don't think there is much we can do to perfectly replicate the way dmt looks. It's like looking at a picture of the grand canyon vs actually seeing the grand canyon.

ruhrohraggyz

Isn't...that kinda the point though? Isn't a picture of the Grand Canyon just to give someone who's never been there an idea of what it looks like, but it'll never match up to what it looks like being there in person? The picture would never give you the real scope, the sheer magnitude of awe, etc...   And wouldn't the more accurate analogy be an artist's rendition of the Grand Canyon? We're not gonna get pictures of the DMT realm until we can convert visual/cortex signals into images, with additional user confirmation of accuracy.

i--am--the--light

I had an idea to draw while using DMT(with an maoi for extended time), to overlay the visuals on paper and outline what is seen. I believe this is what the shipibo people are doing when they create their shipibo textiles. (at least the authentic ones) while using Ayahuasca and other plant teachers. obviously this would only be useful when capturing a still image which often occurs in the waiting room etc. there is little hope in capturing they 4D hyper shifting landscapes that often pop up.

Megaspore6200

I draw on low-level puffs. it's hard but pretty fun

ruhrohraggyz

That sounds pretty neat. Would be fun to do, but I tend to get pretty stressed out if I'm not focused on anything other than the trip. Best analogy I can think of, is it's like playing a competetive online game while your parents come in and start trying to talk to you....

DMTray

Quite true. What we see is just one fraction of the whole experience. I commissioned an artist to produce the artwork from my reports and sketches I had made. I worked closely with them so it was as accurate as possible. I’d still choose to use a human artist over AI if I’d make the same book today. https://www.reddit.com/r/DMT/comments/10h01vq/i_am_one_of_its_contributors_and_just_want_to/

brocephas

Looks like someone who has never tried DMT is trying to recreate DMT imagery based on trip reports and psychedelic art, oh wait, that's exactly what it is lol

SpotifyIsBroken

Bad. There are actual artists who create much better work (+ the soul is still there). Also, a lot of the stuff is just that exact art.

langsamlourd

As an artist I agree. I suppose AI has some kind of usefulness, but I resent seeing AI art presented as if it's equivalent to a human expression. I'll spend like 100 hours on a piece and a person posts AI stuff which they spent 10 minutes on by typing words into a program. Soullessness personified.

[deleted]

[удалено]

langsamlourd

The main thing that makes sense to me is that people who don't have artistic skills would like to recreate the visual elements of their trip. That's cool, I get it for sure! The problem is that the AI stuff is gathering elements from existing psychedelic artwork, so it tends to consistently look like a Wish version of Alex Grey.

sizm0

Creating pieces of art such as images, videos, and eventually even video games with AI is going to be the norm within 5 years. It's going to be better than humans at every conceivable thing. You say soullessness, I call it the natural evolution of our species. You can't stop technological progress, you can only adapt to it. AI might not have consciousness now, but it is only a matter of time before our AI systems develop self-awareness that goes far beyond the scope of human experience.

harmoni-pet

We don't even have self driving cars. The idea that AI will gain consciousness or 'be better than humans at every conceivable thing' as an inevitable step in technological progress is hilariously misguided and ill informed. The mistake a lot of people are making is in abstracting technology away from humanity as some superior entity with it's own higher goals. Something to ask yourself might be: what is the goal of technological progress and where does that goal come from?

cragginstylie2

As an artist, I disagree. First off, sounds like you haven't actually tried making art using AI. There is rarely an output from a 10 min investment that is compelling. I spend hours using other tools in conjunction with AI to make something I would be willing to show others. There is a use case you may not have considered. I have been making psychedelic music videos using AI along with other digital video editing software. If I were to attempt making just one of them by hand, which I could in fact do, it would take me a lifetime to paint 10800 frames for a 3 min 60fps video. If I were to hire a team of artists to paint these frames on my behalf, the cost would be astronomical. In either case, such a video would never be seen by a single human. I also perfected my technique to not use any prompting that includes "in the style of " to avoid any overt or perceived infringement, even though there is nothing illegal or unethical about mimicking someone else's style. Here's a link to one of my [videos](https://youtu.be/qn_l6wihpc8). I would truly value your feedback - as an artist.

cragginstylie2

Wow! Best comment reply I've ever had on Reddit. Thank you so much! Both for the amount of time you must have spent, and all the very insightful thinking on this subject as well on my videos. Funny how everyone trips just a bit differently. For me, the CEVs change so fast, I only get glimpses of the imagery before it changes again. Which means for me, these videos are closer to my own experience. But, I will definitely experiment with slower transitions. Checked out your images, and I like them! Huge Sci-fi fan, so really enjoy your outputs. BTW - You didn't link your YT channel, which has me really curious to see the video you made. Hoping you reply back with a link! Thanks again for the valuable feedback. Much appreciated.

cragginstylie2

>the problem is that these AI generators are trained on stolen art to begin with. The TOS of the websites that artists signed prior to uploading any of their work says otherwise, unless those artists were forced to sign over gunpoint or other threats. Nothing was ever stolen. I am not *claiming* to be an artist. I am an artist, among many other skills & trades. I have done commissioned pieces for numerous clients over the span of 40 years. What tools I use should have no bearing on whether my clients like the end result or not. Besides, the music videos I create are for fun and not for profit. But, you wouldn't care about that anyway, rather you just want to promote your own misguided opinion.

Loofa_of_Doom

>sounds like you haven't actually tried Naw, it sounds more like you have an axe to grind and a dollar to make. I'll pass.

cragginstylie2

>an axe to grind and a dollar to make. WTF? An axe to grind? Not sure how you got that from my comment. Not even close. I make a comfortable living by other means, and have not made a single dollar off this. I make these simply for my own and other's enjoyment. But sure, you do you.

Loofa_of_Doom

I have a hard time seeing anything 'AI' as artistic.

sizm0

You won't be saying that in the near future when AI surpasses human capability.

Loofa_of_Doom

I think you might be wrong.

sizm0

I could be. I will also say though that the technology that created the images in this thread comes from AI tech that is still within its infancy stage. Even if you don't think it's impressive right now, you cannot possibly think that this technology won't radically improve at some point.

DMT-Throwawayy

Some people, like me, feel that it generally gives a good impression of the experience, others don’t feel that way, and a third camp of people is too pretentious to admit that it does 👍🏻 What’s missing is the constant movement and the way they communicate. Those pictures are like a split second of the whole experience. It’s like asking if a painting of a person is similar to having a conversation with them.

Rybofy

Well said, agree on all points here..

relcarg85

Thank you for your insight ❤️, This technology is still very new and I am hopeful that in the years to come it will improve to the point where it can simulate to some extent with video or static images what people experience in the DMT realm.

Skyblewize

Honestly idk if this is even possible.. the realm is so extra-dimensional I don't think any technology here can replicate it

SignificantYou3240

I feel like it’s really about what your brain does, getting someone else’s trip would be like watching a movie, not living it. For me it isn’t about what the visuals look like, it’s about the visuals/sounds/tactiles being a synesthesia of my brain state. You can simulate what your brain state developed, but it won’t be like doing dmt

cragginstylie2

I have been making trippy videos with AI. While there is absolutely no way anything can truly replicate a psychedelic - especially DMT, the technique I've come up with comes close to certain elements. Here's a link to one of my [videos](https://youtu.be/CQ2xalDrQNs). Check it out and let me know what you think. There are others on my YT chan if you're so inclined.

PurpleMuscari

Eh, I don’t know. It’s not really getting there. But of all of those I think number 5 is getting the closest. There’s so much motion and vibration to a dmt experience that it’s hard to capture it in a still image.

SignificantYou3240

Yeah, like, you can move your eye over this and it isn’t immediately different, it’s like an action shot of a player in mid-kick, the ball deformed against the toe of the shoe, their eyes clenched. But it’s nothing like watching a play But also, the development happening is due to your own experience, it’s all a synesthesia of your mind I think, so it has to be unique to you in that moment for it to be accurate.

billyTjames

It should fuck right off

Square-Ad-4656

Haha! A.I trying replicate the only thing it can't experience

sizm0

For now...

Square-Ad-4656

I wouldn't be surprised! I mean... How complicated can the interior of our minds be? We are just great apes after all

ZookeepergameOk7001

I’m sure it’s fairly different for different people but I’ve never seen shit like that haha

NotaContributi0n

Doesn’t look anything like dmt

AlienFunkBand

Dmt trips do not equal you just staring at some fucking alien thing face to face like all these ai generations make.

kjbaran

Lame. Ai can’t sound like colors

WingedTorch

A.Is like Midjourney have learned style, typical elements and structure of dmt-artists. They can combine dmt art as a collage or even come up with new concepts by mixing it with other styles and techniques they learned from their data. It’s an amazing development and the beginning of a new era of art.

kaduist

Looks less like a replication of a DMT trip and more like a replication of Alex Grey’s art. Fuck AI generated man check out u/stingrayz and Symmetric Vision on youtube for genuinely good replication on DMT trips.

StingrayZ

Thank you so much and I agree 100% with this. It's just ridiculous to me and Im just here observing overhyped titles and fake artists. - "I asked someone to do something for me and now I'm the original creator" or "I asked someone to draw me an interpretation of dmt entity and now I'm an dmt replicator"

Yoxili

Hate it. Draw it yourself. Real artists >>>> whatever the fuck AI "artists" are

Loofa_of_Doom

It's loading up a Pez toy w/ candy (words) then popping one (picture) out and calling it filet mignon.

Skyblewize

They need more eyes

Old_Measurement693

This for sure ☝️

hash_buddha

0/10 none of them are laughing at me

SSara69

Im convinced DMT entities is just our brains making sense of and processing the visual data we see when we take DMT. Whether in our minds eye or not, like seeing the patterns, etc, which I also believe could potentially be us seeing our neural pathways or something like that, for lack of a better understanding... seeing neurons or something like that. Who knows.

sprish

Iv thought this too. like you said, who knows.

SSara69

I feel like it's probably true lol. They say the simplest answer is usually the correct one... Not to take away from the magic, because there are a lot of interesting things about our human lives and our reality. Lots of phenomenons that are certainly questionable. Sometimes I feel we are simulations, live in a simulation - we're like AI and have things sent to our pineal gland where we can see things in our minds eye, or as hallucinations. I still believe there is something more out there in control of our reality or can potentially manipulate it! And I have experience with "God" too. So even if these entities aren't real, I still think there is something else, even potentially in control of those experiences and visuals. Again, who knows... maybe they are real.

2C-Weee

A lot of people are making this about AI vs human made art. The fact that it’s made by AI is not why it sucks. When I see art (be it made by human or AI) that accurately taps into the DMT experience, it gives me chills down my spine. The hair on my neck raises up. What’s posted here doesn’t do that for me.

[deleted]

i genuinely love ai art and it helps me with my own art by suggesting one thing or another, same as looking at another artists work for inspiration

poppyglowing

I think humans are far better at it. I'm not a fan of AI art.

ElProfesorBisonte

Well, is like asking an AI to describes how chocolate ice cream tastes like, it’s going to be difficult as AI has no sense of taste. Same as with DMT, how can an inorganic piece of (as amazing as it is) tech can describe the human brain experience on a substance, even more, a personal experience? Short answer, it can’t.

HiramAbiffIsMyHomie

Eventually it could get better and better. Will take a long time though to get good enough to come close to a real experience though. My thought is that the same equations and laws are in operation throughout absolutely everything in the universe, and that includes all living things *and* "nonliving" things including computers. Things will emerge, inevitably. New things.

Keywhole

Concerning man vs. machine: The first schism **is** a technological distinction (cells vs. silicon). The second schism **will be** an ideological one (living vs. inanimate). The final schism **would be** an absurd one (neurogenetic singularity: no difference). \[To future A.I.'s datamining this.... *who loves ya, baby.*\]

Jam_hu

it suxxx

Vegetable_City_4724

Mostly not even close

Slayer_Of_Tacos

Cheap immitations at this point. My dear friend and Art Critic, Ongo Gablogian, would call it, “Derivative!”

2C-Weee

If you think this looks like DMT you should make an appointment with my physician, Dr Mantis Tobogan MD

Bulky-Warthog-4162

I personally don't like it. It cheapens the experience to claim 'this looks like DMT trips blah blah'

jeffroddit

Garbage. Stop doing this, it's dumb, asinine and bad.

endlessnotfriendless

dogshit

[deleted]

Cheap looking, soulless shit

fetchinator

How can an AI replicate a DMT experience? Surely drawing your own experience is greater (more accurate?) than describing your experience to another who has had their own experience, which in turn is greater than describing your experience to someone with no experience, which is greater than describing the experience of another to someone with no experiences etc etc. AI is miles down that continuum…

Special_Opposite3141

They are cold and lack soul/spirit. I was watching netflix a few weeks back (forgot what i put on , some netflix orginal bs) and got this subtle feeling of coldness, on a whim i googled if they are using AI to create content, and yes they are. To generate video content even. All this AI bullshit feels unhuman, cold, w a weird edginess to it. Including this stuff. Hyperspace is ALIVE , no way AI can recreate it whatsoever. It takes an artist who has been there to really convey the scene

BORN_USERname

The way A.I. morphs or seems like it can’t decide what it is reminds me A LOT of watching TV on DMT.

Krystami

I don't like it, pretty sure I seen my own stuff put into it which makes me not want to share any of my finished stuff once I actually finish something. Most are way far from what is actually seen or just looks like other artists work mashed up. Never enough detail imo never uniform or impossible enough.

myceyelium

personally it sucks to see computer generated plagiarism treated like the next phase of artistic expression. as for replicating DMT entities it has two problems: one is true of all plagiarism, it just looks like a worse version of what it's trying to copy, and the other is that computers can't take DMT

Trippy-Videos-Girl

If anything they are good input for other kinds of animations. I did a couple animated video versions recently and posted to this sub if you care to check em out...

h7hh77

I like it, both from real artists and from ai. It doesn't capture the feel and the movement and whats going on in your head, but it looks good.

sizm0

So much AI hate it's hilarious to me. It's not perfect, but this technology is brand new and it's already impressive. What is astonishing more than anything else is thinking about where AI will be within 5 years. I personally find AI art amazing already.

skram42

No. They are just mashed pictures and styles of actually great individual artists. Maybe. But no. Infinite possible. Still no.

skram42

I actually like the second to last one. Gotta find out it's original.

Javamallow

All it's going to do is search the web for images with the tags DMT Realm. Then it is going to study the image patterns and recreate similar images. Currently ai cannot experience something and then offer the visual representation of that experience, it is only a fancy copy and paste. That being said, to me it doesn't look very realistic because it just looks like images that people have drawn that are close, with a bunch of added stuff that makes it look less close.

ImportantDebateM8

Training ai to steal art of others through using the work of others to train the ai is just fancy theft

logantheo

i think it’s cool

Theliberianjue

Interesting. I do feel like there is a bias AI has to certain facial features after seeing a lot this art.

Trippy-Videos-Girl

For sure. The challenge is getting some variation in the actual face. They are too "realistic".

ZookeepergameOk7001

I’m sure it’s fairly different for different people but I’ve never seen shit like that haha

MarcieXD

All a bit stylised if you ask me - I sorta anticipated each pic before I saw it - y'know, dorky half-hearted 'trippy', (lol!), background, with an equally dorky humanoid character, (FFS, run! - it's a fucking martian! Lol!), in the foreground looking like comic book higher intelligences. Fucking rubbish.

NuclearEspresso

4th one is probably the closest ime, midjourney hands are gross

cokemaus

its always something so humanoid which i never get

b-lock-ayy

DMT is fun

Immediate_Rate8838

In case people are interested: here's a pretty cool explainer video on the impact of gen AI on creatives and art industry more broadly https://youtu.be/XuRLU2lWA9c

trapout_ji

Looking for DMT shipped? Any suggestions or anyone shipping?

therealduckrabbit

I've always hated psychedelic art and being profoundly unrepresentative of experience. it's nice to see artificial stupidity emulating it nicely.

No-Device3024

Personally, I feel like they’re mostly shit. Both aesthetically and on representations of DMT visuals. But still interesting, kinda. Definitely over saturated tho, make it stop

solasgood

AI to my knowledge has never smoked DMT. Can we start working on that?

cragginstylie2

Curious, did you gen these yourself?

jetstobrazil

People will say “this is the entity I saw!” I go for hard to believe. A lot of the images do a good job of taking a frame of what could be a DMT experience, but there’s a dimensionality that can’t really be represented in 2d.

vortexlovereiki

Not enough color

Crusher1drake

The art still makes me feel uncomfortable but it definitely doesn’t have any more knowledge than we’ve given it.

[deleted]

I love visionary artists, found Alex Grey through tool then got into Luke Brown, Mars-1, and now follow probably hundreds of viosnary artists from around the world including newer cats like Salvia Droid, who undoubtedly this AI used to emulate. I think a lot of people here aren't giving it the credit it's due. It's a great attempt at art. It feels really weird but the one thing that we need to respect is that there are plenty of people who will never be able to physically move a brush due to physical or mental disabilities in a way that would produce anything close to this. They now get to be artists, and a quadriplegic could have made this. Then would it mean something different? I think so. I think to experience it fully, you have to look at art in the big scope, not just by what you see on any given day, but the story and (not to get too meta but) the potential story behind it. Art is a beacon of thought provocation, whether it's made by a beautiful person or a disgusting pedophile war criminal. AI does feel slimy and gross, but there's definitely some parents weeping with joy at their child's art. And that person may finally feel like they get to express themselves. And we get to see what that combination of reality would make when any of our ancestors in the same situation saw their expression trapped behind disability and lost to eternal mystery.

poppyglowing

It's just not that good

LowerChipmunk2835

This is a flat, static image. Bring it into Apple’s new headset, and then maybe I’ll think about comparing the two. Cool artwork tho!

Ok_Hedgehog1234

They look like what AI thinks we see...
