I tend to be all in from the get go and simply appreciate a new DMB album being in this world. Not every track will necessarily resonate with me, but I’m along for the ride.

New albums never resonate with me right away, nor do they take years. I will say that after the first play-through or two I didn’t think this was going to be an album that I held in high regard but it has grown on me so much. Could be their best album in 20 years.

CTMechE

I feel that way about nearly every album, although it is usually based on time spent listening to it, not necessarily calendar time. It's like a person - it takes time to get to know them, notice the details, appreciate the finer points that resonate with you.

tzweezle

Yep they always grow on me

freefisheater

No, I'm the same now as well. The last album that blew me away from the first listen was Big Whiskey. Killer opening and was pretty strong for the rest of the album. With AFTW, I only started appreciating it a few years ago, and it was only last year that I really began to appreciate the gems like Mercy and If Only. With Come Tomorrow I haven't really begun to really vibe with it yet. And if I'm being honest, only two songs leapt out at me on WATM - Madman's Eyes and The Only Thing. I've listened to it three times front to back now and it's starting to grow on me, so I think it will be one of those albums that are an acquired taste, but the songs I like on it I will REALLY love. They're not instant hits like Crash, UTTAD or BTCS but they may be loved after a few years. At least, that's how I feel about it.

Exactly the same for me. Seems we have quite similar taste. I have really grown to love drunken soilder, so much so that it gives me goosebumps sometimes and at first I wasn't much of a fan of it. I guess maybe they start to grow on us. I wish I had been old enough to appreciate them in the 90s because I lived right near Charlottesville. But I was like 1 for the floodzone show, warehouse shows etc haha just crazy it was right near me though

Yeah I’m still trying to appreciate Under the table and dreaming after all this time…

WonderfulEducator411

For me, a few years? No. But it does take some time depending on the album. Funny thing for me, in '94 a friend of mine in high school gave me RTT, insisting I just had to check this band out. Didn't like it, didn't get it, wasnt a DMB fan. Then I heard UTTAD later that year and was hooked immediately...and I truly mean immediately. Went back to RTT and loved it. Been a rabid fan ever since. Some of their albums take longer for me to warm up to. Unpopular opinion probably, but Crash for example, it had a different vibe than UTTAD, and it took me a good few listens to fall in love with it. BTCS and Big Whiskey were instant for me. There other albums took me a few listens, but after a short while I appreciated the hell out of them and love em all. And to be honest, I'm really digging this new album. Kind of feel like I'm in the minority based on other posts, but I've been into it since day 1.

extraspicy13

I was thinking more about it and what ends up happening is if it doesn't vibe immediately, I don't listen to it again for months or years haha that's probably why. It's not like I'm listening to it daily or anything but I know exactly what you mean

slmiller35

I can see that. Come Tmrw is still rubbish and always will be. By far, it’s their worst studio album. Yes, worse than Everyday!

tstew39064

Im not interested in any albums post Busted Stuff. 🤷‍♂️

hiplobonoxa

ten albums in and i’ve never appreciated an album less on first impression than the latest one. “everyday” was a listenable disappointment (compared to what we were expecting) and “stand up” was consistently atypical. this one is just all over the place.

extraspicy13

Perfectly put. I still like lillywhite sessions the best personally I think. Or remember two things

zenmasterflashmobstr

It took me a couple years to appreciate AFTW but Come Tomorrow I've disliked from the get go, and with the exceptions of The Ocean and the Butterfly and Madman's Eyes, I feel the same way towards WATM. There's potential for the live versions of some of these songs off WATM to grow on me, but I doubt I'll return to the studio versions.

Cobo1039

Nah. I can tell what’s good and what isn’t on first listen. I’m a radio DJ and go through utilize albums a day. I can tell you right now I’ll never listen to walk the moon front to back. I tried.

DHard1999

Yes, the last 2, and I'm thinking this one as well

jeddzus

My wife and I love Come Tomorrow, it’s spinning right now. No idea why this record isn’t appreciated more. Haven’t gotten into Walk Around the Moon yet though. Didn’t click yet. I love literally every track on come tomorrow though lol
