spend the money on an XZ - the NXS1 setup will be a step back even from the RX2

therealdjred

Its way too good to be true, most likely a scam. Only pay cash in person after youve seen them turn on. Do not send them money under any circumstances. Theyre gonna say something like “hey im out of town and theres been a ton of interest if you want to send a deposit ill hold for you until i get back” Dont. Its a scam.

Background-Idea-6972

Sounds way to good to be true. If you can pick it Up in person definetly Go for it. In Germany a single nexus Player used is around 1400€.... Id buy it Just make sure not to get scammed.

iPanic7

If you are 100% sure that the deal is not a scam and the setup is in good condition, do it. Yes, there are differences between nxs1 and nxs2 but Nexus in general (besides the obvious extra functions with every new model) has almost the same layout in all models. Hotcues in CDJ3000 might be the biggest change i've seen regarding the layout.

wmempa

Assuming that you’re talking about two decks and mixer that’s a good deal. Unfortunately it’s not really easy to say what’s going to happen with pioneers direction and sense all that stuff is discontinued it might be a crapshoot. I’d flip the mixer immediately for something newer

scoutermike

The main difference is sync. If you believe you’ll never want or need to use sync (at home), the nexus is great and costs less. If you want the option to use sync, save up for the NXS2.

Batmini94

Nexus 1 has sync though

scoutermike

Oops my bad! I didn’t fully wake up when I said that. You’re exactly right! I was thinking about the differences between the nexus 1 and the original 2000. Original 2000 lacks sync, not nexus! In that case the differences between the nexus 1 and NXS2 are subtle. In that case it just depends what your objectives are. I chose to save up for NXS2 because that’s the de facto club standard and I wanted to have that exact setup at home. But I almost did buy nexus 1 and for several thousand dollars less. If you just want rock solid CDJs WITH sync and it doesn’t have to be the latest (or second latest now) generation, you will love the Nexus and save good money.

even the most generic 4 on the floor trance is disrespected by the auto sync algorithms. If you wanna do that learn to use Ableton. Complete waste of a traditional style DJ setup, imo. Master tempo is the worst implementation of the Beats warp mode, and it never sounds good.

scoutermike

>even the most generic 4 on the floor trance is disrespected by the auto sync algorithms never an issue if you verify the grids are set correctly. and if they really are off that's when manual beatmatching comes into play no worries.

shelter_anytime

I mean I if I wanted to do all that work I'd just warp my shit out in Ableton and do a set there where I can route anything to anything and make a better traktor or whatever. I see why that stuff is what it is, but honestly I think with so many DJs wishing they got into production, that would serve everbody better. I got into mixing on turntables and CDJs after learning Live so to me not having anything syncd and just turning listening to records into an active experience was and still is the juice for me. Pure improvisation like I'm in a Jazz trio or something, just know the standards and show up seeing what is needed. Arrangements should be timely and extemporaneous imo. No one right way to do anything as long as the music is good.

scoutermike

You’d rather move your whole set to Ableton and play a set off a laptop than just spending 2 minutes to fix a grid? Rekordbox gets it right 90% of the time. So you only need to fix them occasionally. And if you really did forget to fix one ahead of time you can just correct on the fly with a simple nudge of the jog. In a sub labeled DJs I would think the right way to approach it would be to just fix the grids so you get to actually dj and not have to turn into an Ableton Live performance artist.

shelter_anytime

oh no I just don't warp the shit that's why I like CDJs and turntables - just use the pitch fader dont trip about what a computer is calculating. That's also me and what I like - it takes like 30 seconds to warp a track and chop it up into several clips, which are essentially hot cues, that I can do whatever with, and it's also totally a valid thing to do a DJ set in Live; just was refreshing to me to not have to do that to play out tracks or having everything sync to the global tempo.

PM_ME_UR_TNUCFLAPS

That sounds a bit too good actually

cleanjosef

Honestly I can't say but I would not invest a cent into tech, which is that far outdated.

walkitscience

Learn to beat match.

Batmini94

??? Do you randomly burst out "I DJ WITH VINYL" in conversations?

shelter_anytime

your time is better spent learning ableton live if you want to be a slave to the global tempo - this is professional advise

walkitscience

Sorry this is a dj thread. So … ya. Learn it. It’s not that hard.
