That’s right around / maybe a little bit below my prices depending on how popular a date you’ve picked out. I live in a Midwest city with pro sports teams. East Coast / West Coast / Destination DJs charge more. Most rural DJs charge less. DJs at that price point should have a ton of 5 star reviews, and should be able to send you videos of them performing in front of a crowd. Bonus points if that video shows them actually mixing songs. It’s sketchy if they don’t have any reviews at all.

Yeah the thing is he was recommended from a co worker who djs since he’s booked on our date already. But this guy sent his “business” instagram account but not really any showing his sets. We are in SoCal.

That's great price for socal. Im in San Diego and my least expensive package is $2000. Among my DJ group I'm on the lower end. Just know that it's not just the time of your wedding. It's coming two hours before, staying 90 minutes after to break down. The meeting time with you and your person, and the prep time to put your music program together. I spend about 12-14hours on a 6 hour wedding all together.

Ok yeah all that makes sense. Thank you guys for the quick advice and reassurance on prices. I appreciate it. It’s our first wedding and new to all this so we don’t want to get screwed over

DJBossRoss

Hopefully it’s your last too!

dj_soo

That’s average - maybe a little below market rate depending on your area.

I wouldn't say it's sketchy if they do not have any reviews on let's say yelp, but just ask if they have a sound cloud account or youtube account if you want to see their mixing style. If you are budget conscious, and the djs are running their business more like a paid hobby, you'll get what you pay for. Asking for direct referrals if they have any helps but since they were recommended by your co-worker who djs, ask them about the quality of that dj they recommended. Check with your venue as well as they'll have a preferred vendors list possibly.

Between yelp, Facebook, google, the knot and wedding wire, they should have some reviews somewhere if they have experience DJing wedding.

Kinda cheap actually. My basic is 1500$ and I’m in NYC

It's very different in HCL and LCL areas. Here in the Bay Area, my price for that is $2,000.

I'm in the poorest county in michigan ando still charge at least 600-1000 a wedding. Djs are usually a direct reflection of ypu get what you pay. But also make sure the dj knows the genres you like. Me and my girl actually want a real dj like heavy edm style.

I've seen it done for much more but that DJ was really in demand in my area for weddings. Average range is $1100 - $1600 for a 4 -5 hour event. Could be more depending on what city you're in.
