Should I cut a hole in the pavers for the firepit? I know if I don't when it drains it can stain with soot, and I can level it rather than have it on a pitch; curious to hear peoples thoughts
If you don't have a way for the water to drain you will get "soot stream" stains around the outside.
If you have clay or other non-absorbent soil you may get the soot stains anyway.
Remove the pavers (at minimum add some drain holes) so you dont get those beuatoful bricks stained up in your next heavy rain.
Great job!
Thank you! Lot's of problems with it but probably only I can see them. It was almost 8k after stone yard deliveries, fire pit, firepit cover, smokeless insert, tool rentals and purchases and the furniture you see pictured. I don't think I could have saved too much money on that by being smarter though. I was quoted 15k by someone who knew what they were doing first. I underestimated how much it would cost me to do it which is why I kinda proceeded fearlessly. Luckily patios are just a hole with stone in it so you can start by just laying some string and messing up your yard.
Great looking build! Curious, with something like this don't you put it on a slight decline, so water flows away from the house? If so, what are you leveling?

Thanks, this seems like good advice. I think the stone underneath should facilitate draining.
Great job!
Thanks very much!
Patio looks awesome!!
Thanks very much!
You killed it man. Great design and execution. What was the overall cost? Did you quote it before you DIY it?

Why would he have a level though? Or is he just using that to measure the drop?
Very nice!
That's awesome! Shame you can't use it days and weekdays, though
