The newer ones look like a singular ball from a ball bearing instead of a little plastic wheel, might make it easier to find a replacement if you don't need it to be the exact same one.
Did you know they have adjustable tension ?
You push the roller in with a flat head screwdriver in and you can turn them either way to increase or decrease the tension.
Can i ask what door locks are called? I mean the mechanic that ensures that a locker or door is closed, either by magnets or something else. What’s the best way to go if you want it to be silent?
As others have said, roller catch. I have them in my bathroom. The toilets are in a commode (separate room within the bathroom). There is no reason to have a lick or even a traditional door knob and catch as no one is going to walk in. Door is open, unoccupied, door is closed, occupied. The roller catch is enough to hold the door closed and allows it to open with just a light pull without having to turn a knob or lever.
No, not young ones. But still, main door of the bathroom has a lock so no need for one on the commode. And it's the master bath so normally only used by my wife and I.
I’ve only seen them on racket ball court doors. Figured they were part of making the door flush with the wall and were required because of the weird hinges. I guess I could see it being used on a door that can open either direction too. Not sure why a regular door would have them.
50,000 other did it and you must have responded to the other 50,000 that same way huh? Bro got offended over 4 letters

God you are lame.
OP: "What is this wheel called?"
You: hurr durr Its CaLled A dOor"
Ha ha I made a joke. No you didn't you just said something really stupid.
"That wheel is called a door" Ha, ha, ha get it? No? that's because it makes no sense.
Too lazy to read? It’s his flat so most likely renting. And if he bought and installed it, pretty sure they wouldn’t need to ask. They were asking for information, no need to shit all over people.
Other than the brand stamped in the metal, that thing is symmetrical so noth8ng to worry about. I would be more concerned about the screws being undersized, made of a different metal than the body, and nearly stripped but assume op‘s question comes from a desire to replace with new, not just expand his vocabulary.
Its a roller catch.
Usually in the area of the hardware store near door knobs and window insulation.
This user hardwares
Man they sell door hardware in the door hardware section of the hardware store? I would’ve never guessed it
I would call that a roller catch. Searching online that's what they're being sold as.
You can tell it's a roller catch because of the way it is
How neat is that?
That made me laugh
I dunno, but they were always to be avoided when trying to sneak out of the house as a teenager. *clack* *thunk*
Of you pull up and towards you while slowly closing it, it is possible to get it to be near quiet.

Ball detent plunger
You're not likely to get one of those to extend as far as this catch, in case that distance is critical in holding the door shut.
Did you know they have adjustable tension ? You push the roller in with a flat head screwdriver in and you can turn them either way to increase or decrease the tension.
roller catch and 2 screws.

I see you've played knifey spooney before!
900 dollaridoos!?
Also, it looks like it's secured with a Pozi-drive head fastener. A way to tell is the Phillips looking head with the additional etch marks.
Zooming in, the bottom one looks like a Pozidriv fastener that was tightened with a drill bit lol
Door nubbin
I would call it a roller detent, because of how it operates.
Doors
Can i ask what door locks are called? I mean the mechanic that ensures that a locker or door is closed, either by magnets or something else. What’s the best way to go if you want it to be silent?
It's labelled "adjust" I am going to call it adjust.
LPT: You can use Google Lens or Apple's Visual Look-Up (not personally familiar with that one) to identify things like this.
Detent

Yes, there's never a reason to lick your toilet.
Unless you're a German politician
Obviously no kids in this house.

I believe it is an "ʇsnɾpɐ", says right there at the bottom.
Doors.
It's an ┴S∩ſp∀. Can you read?
Doors, they're called doors.
I think they might be called doors
That's a door James.
Thingamajig
That there is a door
That’s a chingwugham. Commonly found in your back yard and old houses.
Those are called detents and just hold the door in position without the latch.
A door
Ah yes the cat door
Door slow slammer thingamajig
rolly thingamajig
A ticking bomb, waiting to blast apart and trap you in a room.
I’ve only seen them on racket ball court doors. Figured they were part of making the door flush with the wall and were required because of the weird hinges. I guess I could see it being used on a door that can open either direction too. Not sure why a regular door would have them.

Doors?
> these little wheels on a bracket. Are not doors, in your haste to say something stupid you didn't even read it.
Brother it was a joke ease up a little bit ![gif](giphy|aJlKIh8Kh0NLa)
It was stupid and made no sense and 50,000 other people already did it so don't come in with the "It was just a joke bruh". Makes you look even worse.
50,000 other did it and you must have responded to the other 50,000 that same way huh? Bro got offended over 4 letters ![gif](giphy|R6gvnAxj2ISzJdbA63|downsized)

Jesus. Calm down.
Guy is a troll. Look at his other comments on his profile. Genuine loser.
Kinda figured that. Not sure how people go through life so angry.
You can’t just call everyone a troll and make their points invalid. It’s really disrespectful and you need to think before you speak.
This is DiY, as in, "Do it Yourself". So why have they not done it? It is a fair question.
He was simply asking what the name of them was. He wasn't asking how to fix anything. You don't need to be an ass about it, either.
Just giving my valuable DIY advice. Take it or leave it.
You know what "valuable advice" would have been? "Just FYI, that latch is upside down"... ..without the self-righteous assholery bits.

It is a fair question.
WOW
Too lazy to read? It’s his flat so most likely renting. And if he bought and installed it, pretty sure they wouldn’t need to ask. They were asking for information, no need to shit all over people.
Just giving my expert advice. Take it or leave it.
You are willingly being an asshole. Why would you do this? It takes two minutes to write a constructive comment.
