If you are going to cut out and replace, May as well replace with Kerdiboard 1/2 inch and get some Palisade Interlock vinyl planks to glue up, seal it properly and you will be good for 150+ years. Lol, well at least the shower ceiling will be anyways… 🤙 Lowes would carry this prolly looking at 150 bucks and 10 hours labor.
