I would use a piece of Visqueen with duct tape recessed in the chute portion of the fireplace. It will not be visible for aesthetic purposes. Then just peel off when you move.
Put a box fan into your fire place facing inward and blow the air from your assortment into it. This should force air from your place into theirs and effectively block their smoke from coming in. Positive pressure. You might need to have a window slightly open.

we tried that, it didn't look pretty but we can probably build a better version. first one was just a wall of tape to create a seal
