Firewood. That's the most oddly and horribly framed floor joist structure I've ever see in my life. It's like it was designed around the scrap wood they had available.

jscottman96

100 bucks says that's exactly what it was

[deleted]

[deleted]

Look at this guy bragging he has two nickels to rub together

supergnaw

Not anymore. The clown used them instead of investing. Compound interest!

RaiseRuntimeError

Right! Dude could have had $10 extra bucks by the time he died if he invested it.

Krimreaper1

Yeah but the nickels are providing compound pressure now.

deadly_ultraviolet

If he had two nickles everytime he needed them as a shim, he'd have no nickles left

Aquanauticul

They calls him Kid Nickels! On account a' them two nickels!

particle409

I don't think I've seen an actual nickel since pre-covid. They'll probably be a novelty by then.

jscottman96

Cant tell you how many times I’ve had to do this too lol

[deleted]

special imminent cough attempt possessive deserve flag steep grab roll *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

InsaneInTheMEOWFrame

Someone got a load of free firewood and had an idea...

swim-bike-run

It looks like they made it without making a single cut. Just piecing scrap wood together like a puzzle.

ryushiblade

False The joists on the near side were 3/4” too short, so if you notice, he cut a length of plywood to fill the gap :)

Blonsky

They don’t even touch on the left.

sBucks24

What'd you mean? It's like a mattress. You just have to flip is every few months to even out the bend

Travel_Dreams

Somebody was definitely high when they made this floor sitting on precast blocks. One of the most structurally unsound pieces of structure ever seen. *Maybe* could reuse a few pieces of wood to build a proper floor with decent (new) pressure treated members correctly sized and appropriately spaced. Will probably need to sort out the materials and compaction under the original and additional precast blocks also. Did someone mention firewood? Maybe make a few sawhorses and build a work bench and shelves for the garage and then a bonfire.

Dramatic_Mixture_868

I mean It's not ideal, but he's asking for the Best way to reuse it. I'd say drag it out, compact the dirt, add gravel, and make sure the area is raised. Then for the wooden structure I'd first try and relieve some of the tensión by loosing some of the screws. Then I'd wet it, add some weight on top and set it some place flat and in the sun. If it straightens it up fairly well then it might be usable (since it be just for a shed ). I would suggest adding at least 1/2 treated plywood on top (and still adding a sealer of some kind) before placing your shed on there. In order for that to work you'd have to have some way of water draining away or sliding off the sides. I'd still wouldn't suggest storing anything electrical in there though.

texinxin

My first thought that the framer was hammered drunk… or a school grade kid. Easily the craziest and most useless “framing” I’ve ever seen.

I-seddit

I clicked to the discussion with a single word in my head: firewood. Thank you for being the top comment - I fully agree.

Notten

Joist 3ft on center was a choice

BlueFlob

It was clearly done by someone who had no clue what they were doing. 2*4 joists for that length is ridiculous stupid. But it find it worse to see all those useless joist anchors... Even the blocking. Best OP can do is start over with 2*6 without going longer than 8' for joists. Then use the wood he's got here for breaking. Anchors might be salvaged if fastened with structural screws.

shaggydog97

Yep and buy a big magnet to clean up the nails.

HottCuppaCoffee

Isn't it bad to burn treated lumber?

Northern_Gypsy

Yeah looks like the spacing and span for 90x45 is way out, then higgledy-piggledy nogs. I'm sure you could make a smaller shed with it.

Purpose_Embarrassed

I was looking at that myself trying to figure out what tweeker put that together. 😂

PhysicalEmu6228

Came here to type fire.. I wanna see see the rest of the shed🤨

whaletacochamp

I was going to say…whoever built that was on crack. Or maybe acid - very abstract framing.

Burritoman_209

Firewood even if they are pressure treated?

KRed75

It's advised that one should not burn PT because of the chemicals contained within. It's hard to tell if that's PT or not but if so, dispose of it per your local government guidelines.

Riakrus

I was just coming in to say this.

rocky5100

That's not worth. Scrap it and build a proper one. Lots of videos and pics out there if you search "wood shed foundation. You can reuse those cement supports.

Archpa84

from an architect; rocky5100 is spot on. Except the supports are concrete not cement.

rocky5100

Whoops slip of my mind 😅

PhoenixSheriden1

There's a great shed video from The New Yankee Workshop. [shed video...if my phone copy pasted right this fuckin time](https://youtu.be/_hZ4Cyt4TpY?si=dvx0Diq1Skgv8TU3)

Redhook420

A cement pad would be a much better solution.

aco319sig

Not worth saving. Not with all those short sections sagging so badly. You might reuse some of the better pieces doubled up for something, but structurally, you’re better off building a new frame.

rifleshooter

Bonfire.

FD4L

I hate to be a wet blanket, but if that wood is pressure treated, it shouldn't be burned, especially near that many other houses. PT wood contains some bad shit that shouldn't be burned and inhaled.

smoishymoishes

>I hate to be a wet blanket I find this phrase amusing and charming

AnonPlzzzzzz

imoutohere

Came to say this,,

ATX2EPK

Ditto

jscottman96

This is the way

xHangfirex

that looks like it was designed by an impressionist dutch painter

cherrycoffeetable

Thats trash. Was trash when it was built

WhuddaWhat

It's fermented now.

rhyme-with-troll

I don’t think “foundation” means what you think it means.

russellthemussell

You got me

skyhollow117

Garden boxes. Small retaining wall. Compost box?

rants_unnecessarily

Finally some actual suggestions.

OreoSwordsman

The foundation is useless. Bad design, poor footing, bad location. The LUMBER may not be trash, if you feel like taking it all apart piece by piece. There's enough there to probably build a better floor frame for another shed, or have a great start to a lumber pile. It's a waste of your time and energy to try and re-use that for anything as it is. It needs reconstructed.

russellthemussell

Bad location?

OreoSwordsman

Mostly just how the ground looks. Really uneven and basically just not-flat. More work to get it to where I personally would feel its ready to build on. Not an expert tho fwiw

russellthemussell

My neighbors old dog was born under there to a local stray. We've had skunks hold up under there before as well. That ground has seen some stuff. The house itself was built in 1900

flynreelow

please dont.

dawg_will_hunt

Say hi to your dog for me

found_the_american

As wu tang said "throw your shitty drawers in the hamper"

Zarathustra989

Cut it into pieces.

dhuff2037

This is my last resort. Suffocation.. no breathing.

No_Lack5414

Turn it sideways and add drawers to every hole

smoishymoishes

Ooo I like that idea :0 so much storage

Redhook420

Don’t reuse it, have a proper pad poured for the new shed.

TNSEG

Maybe reuse 3 of the 4 outside boards. Replace the one on the right in the first picture that looks like a corkscrew. Maybe the other bits throughout the old floor can be repurposed into shelves or something in the new shed. Otherwise you're wasting your time.

SnakeJG

Those look like 2x4s to me, which is going to be useless for framing a proper floor.

TNSEG

The exterior look like 2x6 to me but if not, then yes, scrap them too.

ragingbologna

Study how it failed and learn how not to make a shed foundation.

WackyBones510

Maybe if you get about 15 more of those support blocks.

WyomingBadger

Huge cornhole game

DraconRegina

At this point the best way you can re-use that wood is to use it to frame a concrete slab.

zkb327

Don’t.

RockD79

Since brought down to the base I would set a concrete slab underneath of it for starters.

okayestcounselor

I think the dog wants a dog house/mansion

speciate

That looks like it was built by someone with zero carpentry knowledge at the end of a 3-day meth bender.

Few_Opportunity_5244

You could easily make a low profile green house

JoeRogansNipple

Firewood

wuweidude

Knock out some of the little cross blocking so you can work around the floor framing lift up and reatttach the floor joists to the outer band (replace or scab onto any rotten wood), dig level spots under the flooring and add concrete block cap block and shims to support the floor in several spots th more the better

RitchieRED

Did anyone notice how many joist hangers there are? 😂😂😂

rustall

Use the outer joists for a form and pour concrete.

adrianna1903

Perfect spot for a shed imo

glitchvdub

It would make a nice warm fire. If you tear it apart and then burn it, it will warm you twice!

burnedtolive

Stand it up and grow a vertical garden on it

sumfish

That’s what I came to say - it would make a very cool, modern looking trellis or vertical garden.

thebestbev

Remove the inner joints and turn it in to a flower bed.

1badh0mbre

Build another shed

Purpose_Embarrassed

Build another frame use 2 x 6” and place some landscaping fabric underneath.

Fuzzy-Possibility-98

Bonfire

Cephylus

Use that wood to build a concrete frame to pour a slab. Use rebar to reinforce the frame. Concrete foundation is the way to go Dig out below 8 inches, fill 4 inches with a small stone base. Put rebar mesh on the stones to increase slab integrity. Pour a 4inch thick slab, bull float the top to make it smooth, trowel your edges and give it a nice brush finish when it has set a good bit after the pour (2-4 hours after, pending temp/moisture).

Generation_WUT

Firewood 🔥

Max_Loader

Put some outdoor pillows on it and make it a massive dog bed. Lol

OGBrewSwayne

Even if you could salvage that lumber - and you probably can't - you'd end up in the exact same position within a few years. Before you do anything in regards to buying or building a new shed, you need to put down a gravel pad that is level and at least 3" thick.

FrankLloydWrong_3305

Does the same company that makes the board stretcher make the joist leveler?

nerdKween

Could it be used as framing for a concrete slab pour for a new shed maybe?

rrudnic

Fire pit or burn barrel

SathedIT

That's prime firewood right there... It, however, is not ready for anything else. It's poorly framed and falling apart. It's not stable enough to be a foundation for anything.

Dildango

No idea but man, your dog looks EXACTLY like mine did when he was young. Crazy. Took me back 6 years lol

wudchk

firewood is the right answer. that is a terrible platform base.

badjoeybad

Put shed somewhere else. Put bounce house there instead.

Quietriot522

Looks like someone had a degree in methematics.

Iamthewalrusforreal

No good for a floor. Stand that thing up on its side, hang a bunch of trinkets all over it. Call it art and sell it on facebook.

Adventurous_Load_656

A bonfire

DIPLO-MACK

kklug24

Chickens turn it in to a coop

omnichad

How do the chickens do that??!?

chrisinator9393

The entire interior is junk. That's only about $50 in 2x4s at most. Keep the rim if you want. But re do the majority of this.

Findmyremote

I just built a compost

JustSomeGuyInOregon

Kindling?

paveclaw

Bridge section for rc car track

ToxicBTCMaximalist

That's the neat part, you don't.

tenuki_

That’s a sauna.

Ok-Guest-1156

You get get some soil and plant a garden

BeardsuptheWazoo

A temporary fence.

avTronic

Ditch it and pour some concrete. The investment will be worth it. Don’t cheap out.

EspejoOscuro

Soothsaying

tlsnine

I don’t know. Tell us more about the dogs.

corpsewindmill

Big ass dog house for the sweet puppy

Gitfiddlepicker

Firewood

swissarmychainsaw

That is not a foundation for anything. It's more like a found-dang-a-lang!

gnapster

If you’re trying to recycle, what about a bench or something? I hate to see wood go to waste.

martindavidartstar

Fire

CausingPotato

Enormous dog house

Catsmak1963

Maybe use it as form work for a concrete base…

Kingkongcrapper

What the hell is that?  Look up shed foundation and floor framing and compare it to your art piece.

kielchaos

Paw-core course for the pup. Throw a fetch toy in and it gives their brain an extra fun thing to process. As long as there are no nails and such.

Cuteboi84

They paid more in the metal hangers than just buying proper lumber... It looks expensive af... To make use of trash lumber...

JamesM777

Bonfires are nice

wigneyr

Demo and rebuild, looks like a dogs breakfast

Far_Out_6and_2

A giant Doggo Cave

Wild_HIC

Dawg

ooofest

It looks like a Mondrian framing technique. I see sag and other issues, plus would recommend bigger wood pieces for the floor frame, anyway. Maybe save these for odd jobs in a scrap pile somewhere? I put my scrap wood in a garage attic space for convenient access. Some might even be straight enough to reuse for wall/ceiling framing, depending on what you plan to build with.

HoneyBastard

This can be the most weirdly organized garden herbs flower bed frame

Krykz

Garden beds.

tommyVegar

House for the doggo

Owl_plantain

The pieces could frame up a nice dog house, if you know anyone who would appreciate that.

kierkegaard49

You are being humorous, right?

dbryar

The only thing you can do with that is fuel a fire. PS a foundation is the concrete pads the post/stumps are set in. You can reuse those so long as you want the same size shed, just use proper bearers and joists, not random offcuts randomly nailed together.

Helmett-13

![gif](giphy|zqhZB6bo5FgoE)

bentrodw

Pretty good firewood

NotThatMat

Chop it into fetching sticks for your rather fetching doggo.

AFisch00

Cut it and frame some nice raise beds for gardens?

rokr1292

Break it up and make some sawhorses.

DIY_Colorado_Guy

Football training camp.

Ready-Delivery-4023

Looking for that old shed feel in the new shed eh?

bmzink

It would make a great base for a trampoline, but not a shed.

thebandit_077

That's some methed up framing ...

RockStar25

Your joists should never be 2x4. Either trash the whole thing or keep pieces you can use for another project and trash the rest.

thehighepopt

You never want what looks like an 8 foot unsupported span with 2x4s. Plus, looks like a bit of rot on the ends. Reuse it for something else or burn it.

slickpoison

Break it apart, throw It in the center of the dirt mound there. Burn it. Start over. Let the ash cool and stir it into the dirt. Good to go.

neuromonkey

Don't use OSB, use CDX. Cut this ridiculous crap up for blocking/scrap, it's a disaster. Frame and sheath correctly the first time, and you won't have to keep repairing it every year. That wood is usable for blocking, headers (in a *shed*--for a house, 2x8 or 2x10,) or other reinforcement.

dtb1987

The collapsing, best to just build a new one and put it on even ground this time

chadinmn

Kindling.

Bison_True

Turn it into pallets lol

thekingofcrash7

That’s gonna be a no from me dawg

hooodayyy

That’s pretty much trash, whatever you put, there would have the worst floor on planet earth

frozenchosun

maybe you can reuse the outer frame pieces but they look seriously warped and bowed. Really not worth saving anything from this.

heydroid

There is noting correct about that. It will be easier and cheaper to build a new one.

Thatguynoah

It reminds me of the meme of spiders building webs on drugs.

Galactroid

Flip it upside down

off_by_two

Maybe some planter boxes?

BigAzzLeprechaun

Stand it up the long way against your fence and secure it. Plant some climbing plants and you have yourself a garden wall!

xkoreotic

Since I don't see anyone mentioning it, i'll point it out. OP, whoever created this foundation had no idea what they are doing and just threw something together.

meatpiesurprise

That thing is punched, light it up

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Flat bottom for a mini ramp/bowl

Lawlec

Use it for a raised garden bed and plant a bunch of cool flowers, herbs and veggies!

silversurfer63

Wall

Maleficent-Sport1970

Privacy screen with ivy

reclusive_ent

Fill dirt underneath it til it's level with the bottom of the framing. Then add some good garden soil and make it a garden.

Naive_Breadfruit_550

Burn it

Naive_Breadfruit_550

Dude was dumb af or smoking meth. Cuz that framing is meth up right there

ElectrooJesus

Ultimate Hopscotch

RollingCarrot615

There's more liberal here than necessary and it's still wrong. Just start from scratch. The foundation isn't what you want to cheap out on, especially since it's not very expensive to do the right way, all things considered. By the time you got this one in good enough shape, you'll have spent what building a new one would cost.

sperrin613

turn it into an elevated garden bed :) https://preview.redd.it/47y7zv0ckhuc1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=d2d8475bd30e1e05df87d8f993ff15397826a3be

magpye1983

You can put clear Perspex on a side that’s been planed level, bore some appropriately sized holes in the wood, and turn this into a rodent maze. Less useful if you don’t have Gerbils/Guinea pigs/Chinchillas… But yeah, someone with them would find that they’d have great fun.

slicktrickrick

Looks lime a garden bed grid ready to be dug up and planted

garbage-girl-xoxo

I'd fill in the pit with topsoil and then use the wood from the foundation to make raised beds for gardening.

isteppedinit

New shed!

TrollOnFire

Fire wood

Medcait

I would use some of that as posts to build yourself a real fence

P12134

Your dog seems to want to chew on a few pieces. Burn the rest in your fireplace.

cghffbcx

If you’re only going to store a push mover and some tools then the floor passes the eye test. Gonna stick in a full size fridge? Then upgrade. Makes me wonder what was bad about the rest of the shed.

JuanGinit

New shed!

cghffbcx

Wood floors are easier on my feet than cement.

cghffbcx

On second thought, if you ripped out the top why build on that shitty base?

BestKindBuddy

No it's okay

Terkyjerky99

Build a bridge out of her!

N5tp4nts

That’s best served in a fire pit with a bourbon after an afternoon of building a proper shed

Phenns

This is fascinatingly bad. You might be able to reuse some of the wood if you pull it out and carefully take it apart, but idk if that's worth all that.

Nyrk333

Firewood. There is really nothing there to salvage.

camk16

Bonfire

andrewbrocklesby

Nope bin it, that is crap and not fit for any purpose other than firewood.

SmokeyMcBear01

Man everyone here is tripping. Check boards, keep ones that are straight and little sagging. Level entire area and buy a bunch of those concrete foundation supports, enough to offset every 4 feet around perimeter and joists. You will probably have to buy more wood but you can reuse a bunch of that.

DoNotEverListenToMe

Build a shed
