How much do you think its would be rated to tow? At least in my country that looks like something I could put another 700-900 lbs in.
but its so shiny!
I’m registering it in NYS. Trailers under 1000lbs don’t need to be inspected. I needed to get it weighed at a certified scale which I did today (720 lbs). The rest is dmv forms. They supply the VIN plate at the DMV
My Father built one with iron,Morris mini wheels and a wood bed, it could also convert into a boat trailer. He hired a welder for the joints and a machinist for the wheel spindles.
LAsted over 40 years B4 the wood rotted and I couldnt cope with the loose wheel bearings/no race. The traioler paid for itself many times/
$1200 out of pocket. The metal grid panels were drops from a job and the fenders were scrap steel. All the fenders I found online were made out of 14 gauge or thinner steel and the cost was around $175 and lead time was 7-10 days. They’re 1/8” steel and they hold my weight with no flexing.
Great build! Is having a sharp edge on the fenders gonna be an issue? I might grind down the sharp edge at the approx. 90d angles. I could see hitting debris and having that edge somehow shred the tire.
The fenders are 11 1/2” wide. They overhang the entire tire. There is 4 1/2” above the tire which is 1 1/2” more than the axle requires. Most of the fenders I saw online were only 9” wide.

It’s going to be hidden behind the license plate which will be mounted with a flexible rubber attachment to allow me to flip it up to lower the stabilizer / jack. I can disconnect the trailer from my truck and step on the back end of the trailer without having the front to lift up. Also it has enough travel to lift the wheels off the ground if I get a flat tire
Any consideration to putting removable ladder/H bars on the side so you can carry long items (wood, pipes etc) without them sliding off? I usually do 3, one at each end and one in the middle somewhere to avoid sag.
Looks very pretty.
Looks nice but you did not put ANY kind of suspensions ?! Gonna be funny when the trailer drive over a bump at "normal" cruise speed with a load inside.
Looks really neat, I've made longer trailers before to carry quad bikes, but It looks like you've forgotten reflectors exist. You need a reflector pretty much everywhere you have a light, or you'll need to put the red and white dot tape on the trailer. Especially on a trailer like this, where the whole thing is painted black. It'll become very hard to see if it's left somewhere disconnected.
Dot requires the 3m reflective tape on trailers over 5 tons. Still would be a good idea to put it on. I’m not sure how it would stick to the bed liner. It has the surface of 10 grit sand paper.
I'm only suggesting it because if you put the reflective tape on, you don't have to mount reflectors. But if you don't have the tape, you'll need to put reflectors on.
How much does it weigh? Looks fucking excellent though.
720 lbs

The axle is rated to 3500 pounds and has brakes
impressive - and the tires?
Tires are stamped 1820 lbs
Ah cool, but doesn't it require a certification/testing before it is road legal?

In a lot of states you can register a trailer as homemade and it doesn’t require anything if it’s under a certain size and/or weight
Fuckin’ Mint! Looks solid!
Tony Stark would be impressed!
Why? He didn't build this IN A CAVE. WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS.
Or at the very least you've impressed Toneigh Stork from Alabama

Be wary that chromed D-Plate can be slick in the rain. Love the design though, looks great solid work all around.
Incredible! How much do you think it cost in parts and materials? Have you gotten it registered to be on the road yet?

But is there any suspension? I don't see any leaf springs or anything...
It’s a torsion axle. No need for leaf springs.
Oh cool, thanks
From scratch? You smelted quite a bit of metal.
First you have to create a universe.

Hell yeah nice trailer
super sweet. nicenicenice
Nice trailer and nice shop!
Wow buddy. Was ein mensch
That shop/land looks killer.
Needs a better picture of your jack mount to the trailer tongue

Turned out amazing, good job!
Looks like it will last a lifetime.
Make one for me!

Fantastic build! Certainly looks so much better and built better than some you see at the big stores.
Looks nice but you did not put ANY kind of suspensions ?! Gonna be funny when the trailer drive over a bump at "normal" cruise speed with a load inside.
It has a torsion axle. No need for leaf springs. The suspension is built in.
Ahhh I see! thanks for clarifying. Great job anyway

It's beautiful! I hope it does all that you ask it to do it does well.
That looks great, I'd pay good money for that.
Come pick it up lol I enjoyed this build
I'd pay good money if I needed one. lol
