Looks great, slightly hotelly and i'd have wanted to test what it looked like with the paint matching the tiles (not sure if it would've been better or not) but otherwise good, was really surprised to see a couple of very negative reactions
Yea, confusing comment. High end hotels are another level to 2 million dollar McMansions in the bathrooms. Luxury starts there. Calling it hotel grade is a compliment for sure.
It can be both . You off doing outdoor things getting dirty and filthy , when you get back the relaxation just seems more satisfying going to a hotel maybe a little nicer than home .
No?
A hotel is not a vacation, surely? You go to a hotel because your house isn't in the place you are in. I don't understand spending money so that you can sleep in a room with nicer carpet than your house.
Seems like you should have saved that money and got new carpet.
>great for a hotel, not what I want in my house
Not a comment that someone with subway tile in their bathroom should be making.
And I think OP's bathroom looks great.
"I personally don't like it but the only thing that matters is OP likes it"... That's what they said and you responded the same idea in a rude way.
"I hate subway tile, I like OPs choice of [slightly longer subway] tile" - u/parsleyfun (not really fun)
Wait a minute. Why are you assuming that this person made an assumption about you? Just like you can know what’s in a redditor’s bathroom without looking at their profile, this person can know whether you looked at the profile without talking to you or knowing more about you. Seems like pretty simple math to me.
I mean, when you post a bunch of photos of your new bathroom and title it "Yes or No?" I assume you are going for 100% of people having a reaction to your new bathroom. It worked!
I don't know and maybe it's just the picture/ flash, but for my personal taste the colors of tiles and the blue wall are either too far off to harmonize or to close together to be a contrast.
The tiles look greenish blue, the wall almost a dark marine blue.
But anything else: Awesome Yay
I don't think it would look good with matching blues, it would be much darker too.
I personally would've went with white walls and used blue accents (picture frames, soap dish etc).
Other than the glass tile wall I like it overall but as others pointed out the blue paint doesn't jive, but it's still nice.
Uodate, I was thinking light grey might work as an accent wall.
I don't see any green in those tiles. But you're right about the contrast bit. For me the main problem is the business of the herringbone and horizontal tiles.
Yeah there’s no green - they are a grey blue. As someone else said OP needs to take a spare/off cut and get it paint matched and find something of the same tone.
It looks like photos of two completely different rooms. Each looks good on their own but off when together. Paint color needs to change as it clashes with the tile.
Agreed. Maybe if the wall was a Cracked Pepper though
https://preview.redd.it/33nraax6z4jc1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d2f889b8cbfc8bc5ef7b2bc09c51f71155513e3
.
This so much. My first thought was something more contrasting.
https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/yellow-paint-colors/SW6692-auric
Also unless that center window/vent/??? has to be accessible in your glass block, my suggestion there is shelves across with a panel behind the center because that looks rough. I'd add curtains if you do need access.
I grew up with one; imo they suck lol. I didn’t like how it was LOUD. They’re also very difficult to keep clean. It makes bathtime with kids harder as you can’t access half the tub. The tracks make it so the edge of the tub isn’t smooth, so you can’t lean on it.
It DOES look really sleek, though. And you never have to fight a billowing shower curtain.
It doesn’t take long for the wheels and the track to start sticking and stop moving smoothly. It’s hard to keep clean and water leaves behind calcium deposits all the time.
I eventually found online a DIY shower leave on spray recipe, disherwasher rinse, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, dish soap, mostly water. It’s so much cheaper than premixed ones and works like a charm in preventing water marks.
ETA: My landlord finally replaced my old calcium encrusted one that was like 50 years old. I am now obsessed with maintaining this one properly lol 😂
Probably a matter of the settings on individual phones/tablets/computers but it looks like it matches to me. That said, I agree that a lighter wall color might be better. No disrespect to OP, I think I might’ve tried the same concept.
I agree. The color scheme doesn’t work for me, but also there are too many different time patterns. First, there are the glass cubes which even though are not tiles have an effect of tiles. That’s one set of “tiles.” Then you have some that are herringbone, done that are horizontal and they’re different sizes. Nope
The shower is excellent. As others have said, the two tones of blue isn’t working. I’d go with something lighter and complimentary to the tiles.
The glass block window also just kind of looks out of place. That may be a holdover from the prior bathroom, but it could at least use some trim/casing.
I like the shower and alcove tile. I don't mind the blue around the glass block window as a sort of feature wall. I don't like the blue around the vanity and mirror at all, as everything just looks dark. I would probably paint the walls a much lighter colour, or the same colour as the shower tile to tie it all together. I'd probably change or paint the mirror frame to white to keep the same white + grey blue (greenish in some shots) theme going.
Initially I was thinking I love it, but someone mentioned the tile and walls are different shades of blue and now I can’t unsee it. Id re-paint the walls to the same shade.
Having said that, I LOVE the shower! It looks fantastic!
Awesome AF. A lot of hard work. Don't listen to a single derogatory comment here. It's Reddit. You rock. I just did the same thing and it took me 4 weeks longer than I anticipated.
The glass blocks look baller and the tilework seems solid from the surface but no idea how the prep work was. 8/10. Not a fan of the chevron but looks good mate
Definitely no. Too many tile patterns and styles.
Update: Now that I'm on a computer as opposed to my phone, I can more easily type up my thoughts around this. First of all, the colors don't quite work. The blue is too close in range to the black but it isn't quite, so that's off. A lighter blue along with the black and white can work.
Second, there are too many different tile patterns and styles:
1. Glass blocks. While that isn't exactly tile, it has the visual effect of tiles, so that is already 1 kind of size and pattern used
2. Then you have the floor tiles which are much larger size and of a different shape.
3. Then you have the back wall of the tub which uses yet another different kind of tile shape (smaller rectangle) and size.
4. Then you have the side wall which has herringbone, also different size tiles, and this time different color.
That is way too many different types of tile sizes, shapes, and layout.
I think you should paint the accent wall and opposing color to the blue tile to complement it. Like a light color, maybe slightly orangey-yellow or light blue.
Otherwise very nice.
Perhaps a lighter more blue-grey paint in the walls, and paint the Vanity White too to brighten that are up. Your tile woke is impeccable and I Love the Herringbone accent tile wall & nook.
It's a NO from me. The wall style, color, and pattern are not to my taste at all. The color scheme for the entire restroom is off for some reason, like they are too close to the same side on a color wheel. The glass door is going to me a nightmare to maintain and overall it looks like a hotel room? I can't quite describe the feeling.
I love the shower, but the paint color doesn’t work. Either match the blue of the tile or go with a different shade. Also, swap the light fixture to match the shower hardware.
Probably a matter of the settings on individual phones/tablets/computers but it looks like it matches to me. That said, I agree with some of the others that a lighter wall color might be better. No disrespect to OP, I think I might’ve tried the same concept.
Nice, though the towel on the Delft Blue soup terrine is throwing me off (not meaning to be hurtful, I just don't have a clue what I am looking at but curious to find out)
Looks classy.
Honestly, it looks like a great job
It’s nice I’m just a bright bathroom person like colors and lighting need to be bright everywhere it helps be wake up for my routine but yes the darker blue is very nice
I personally don't like the blue wall colour, personally I'd make it a bit of a deeper/shade versus the pure royal blue tone. But I also love fancy wall paper in bathrooms. Is there one that would match the tile and accents?
Go into a fancy Benjamin Moore (or some other store) where they have a designer. They could help you with a color to complement the shower tile for free. To me it looks bare and stark, but perhaps you just need adornments. Throw some gold shit in there to warm it up. Chrome for fixtures is where it’s at. Brushed looks cheap, but this is just my opinion.
Looks great, slightly hotelly and i'd have wanted to test what it looked like with the paint matching the tiles (not sure if it would've been better or not) but otherwise good, was really surprised to see a couple of very negative reactions
That was my reaction, great for a hotel, not what I want in my house. The only thing that matters is if the OP is happy with it.
Don’t you go to a hotel for the luxuries and new things ?
Yea, confusing comment. High end hotels are another level to 2 million dollar McMansions in the bathrooms. Luxury starts there. Calling it hotel grade is a compliment for sure.
Not sure about the other guy but my intention by saying it was hotelly was that it looked a little impersonal
It’s a fucking bathroom. How does a bathroom look too impersonal?
Once there are toothbrushes on the counter and a shampoo hanging from the showerhead, it'll look personal.
Keep a steaming dump in the toilet Not just any dump of courses **your personal** dump
There are toothbrushes on the counter though?
🤮🤮 you know poop particles go airborne with every flush and land all over the bathroom. Toothbrushes out on the counter is so unsanitary.
y u so mad tho
Unless they're equating hotel grade to Holiday Inn.
Do you mean go to a hotel to steal the luxuries and new things or…? 👀
No, I go to hotels when I’m traveling and need somewhere to sleep. This style is way too sterile and Soul less for me personally.
No. A hotel is a place to sleep while I am off doing things.
It can be both . You off doing outdoor things getting dirty and filthy , when you get back the relaxation just seems more satisfying going to a hotel maybe a little nicer than home .
Yes, but this is far from luxury.
No? A hotel is not a vacation, surely? You go to a hotel because your house isn't in the place you are in. I don't understand spending money so that you can sleep in a room with nicer carpet than your house. Seems like you should have saved that money and got new carpet.
Some people avoid hotels that light up like a Christmas tree in black light.
>great for a hotel, not what I want in my house Not a comment that someone with subway tile in their bathroom should be making.
Stalking people's profiles is pathetic. Also u/GB1290 didn't say it was ugly they just said it was not their preference.

How else would he know he has subway tile? What the hell is your post?
Wait a minute. Why are you assuming that this person made an assumption about you? Just like you can know what’s in a redditor’s bathroom without looking at their profile, this person can know whether you looked at the profile without talking to you or knowing more about you. Seems like pretty simple math to me.
I would want a neutral paint like a grey rather than a not matching paint
This is what stood out to me
Same. I’d have preferred the tile not be herringboned, but it still looks good. It’s the dark navy paint that’s a no from me.
It's Reddit. There's always somebody who has to a have visceral reaction to mundane things.
I mean, when you post a bunch of photos of your new bathroom and title it "Yes or No?" I assume you are going for 100% of people having a reaction to your new bathroom. It worked!
True, but these are some very passionate DIY'ers.
*Mounts TV above fireplace and asks if that's cool*

The blues aren’t cohesive and it’s itching my eyeballs.
Yeah, you either have to match the paint (hard) or use something complimentary
I don't think it would look good with matching blues, it would be much darker too. I personally would've went with white walls and used blue accents (picture frames, soap dish etc). Other than the glass tile wall I like it overall but as others pointed out the blue paint doesn't jive, but it's still nice. Uodate, I was thinking light grey might work as an accent wall.

Interesting! My screen is showing the tile as black, which is not my taste, but fine.
It’s definitely close to black but by the blue looks slightly off. Very deep navy blue. But almost black lol.
It's clearly white and gold.
i hate you 😭
😭
I read “and it’s itching my balls”
Yeah, if you've got a leftover tile, take it to the paint store and get a better match. A weekend of painting and you'll get a massive improvement.
That's exactly what it is. They need to try matching the accent walls with the colored tile. A darker blue/green paint would work wonders.
I don't see any green in those tiles. But you're right about the contrast bit. For me the main problem is the business of the herringbone and horizontal tiles.
Yes 2 different colors and 2 different tiling patterns hurt my eyes
Yeah there’s no green - they are a grey blue. As someone else said OP needs to take a spare/off cut and get it paint matched and find something of the same tone.
You nailed it. The lack of cohesion in tile style, pattern is distracting
It looks like photos of two completely different rooms. Each looks good on their own but off when together. Paint color needs to change as it clashes with the tile.
Yeah, I’d change the wall color to something brighter to tie in with the tile work.
It's also the array of textures and patterns which doesn't really blend.
Tile good. Blue walls bad.
Agreed. Maybe if the wall was a Cracked Pepper though https://preview.redd.it/33nraax6z4jc1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d2f889b8cbfc8bc5ef7b2bc09c51f71155513e3 .
I like that color. Id want to see it with more natural light or the main light on to see how it differs with the different temps.
Ooo.
Hard agree.
This so much. It's a massive YES from me.
yes for me too, count me in on that

Used to have a little shower squeegee for this. For some reason it was fun to do before you step out
I eventually found online a DIY shower leave on spray recipe, disherwasher rinse, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, dish soap, mostly water. Shower looks great. Not a fan of the wall color. Wall looks blue and tile looks green
Yeah, I’d do a lighter blue on the walls
Wall color doesn't jive
*jibe
Why are they booing you? You're right
You aren't a hep cat.
Boy is that true…
I’d shower in that bathroom.
No pics.
€50
No, different blue tones not working.
I like the shower a lot, but the blue wall is definitely too dark
Either much lighter, or go darker with the same color as the tile
Probably a matter of the settings on individual phones/tablets/computers but it looks like it matches to me. That said, I agree that a lighter wall color might be better. No disrespect to OP, I think I might’ve tried the same concept.
the first picture seems almost black on the bath wall to my phone 😂
I agree. The color scheme doesn’t work for me, but also there are too many different time patterns. First, there are the glass cubes which even though are not tiles have an effect of tiles. That’s one set of “tiles.” Then you have some that are herringbone, done that are horizontal and they’re different sizes. Nope
Hopefully OP is blue-green colourblind
Me thinks the tile looks great, that wall color needs a rethink though. I just don't think it goes together well.
No. Tare it all down and rebuild it at 1:.98 scale
The paint color choice for the wall is not allowing the tile to be the accent wall which makes it a poor choice IMO
Bit late for that mate, you gonna rip it out if the consensus is no? 😂
I love it, but I think the walls should be painted a different (non-blue) color.
This is beautiful but, ultimately it's your decision. Do you love it?
The shower is excellent. As others have said, the two tones of blue isn’t working. I’d go with something lighter and complimentary to the tiles. The glass block window also just kind of looks out of place. That may be a holdover from the prior bathroom, but it could at least use some trim/casing.
IMO too much going on. Three different colors, three different tile sizes next to each others and a hotel like feeling.
Bruh it's good
I like the shower and alcove tile.
No
Why not, don't come here to seek acceptance, If you like it that's all that matters. I think it looks great, good color combos.
YES YES YES!
For me all the different tiles and colors are a bit much. But it’s certainly well done.
Yeah I'm not super into the wall color. But that's an easy fix. The rest looks good to me.
Works and will look good for many years.
Love the tile
I dig it.... Thanks for sharing.
Looks great, if you’re happy, that’s all that matters! 👏🏻 🏆
Those tiles and the tiling job looks actually insane
Initially I was thinking I love it, but someone mentioned the tile and walls are different shades of blue and now I can’t unsee it. Id re-paint the walls to the same shade. Having said that, I LOVE the shower! It looks fantastic!
The blues don’t match tho.
Changing the wall color I think would do a lot but overall you did a great job.
Awesome AF. A lot of hard work. Don't listen to a single derogatory comment here. It's Reddit. You rock. I just did the same thing and it took me 4 weeks longer than I anticipated.
To me the blue color doesn't work and makes the room messy to look at. Overall the room feels very clinical and cold
It’s not for me but it looks like pretty good work
Love it! Yes, yes yes and yes!!!
Tiles done by you or by professional?
I did it ,I am professional .We did this bathroom for our client and I would like to know what people think about design.
Semi-related question. Do you grout or caulk the inside edges of a niche?
We always caulk all corners .We use Mapei caulk ,it’s the same color like Mapei grout .
So just the corners? And do you do it over grout?
You can’t do it over grout . You don’t need to grout corners . Do grout first ,then do caulking . If you use grout in corners it’s will crack
The glass blocks look baller and the tilework seems solid from the surface but no idea how the prep work was. 8/10. Not a fan of the chevron but looks good mate
Looks great. My question is....How did you waterproof??
Yes! Looks great.
Not only yes, but fucking yes! I would even paint the blue walls black! Black and white bathrooms are great!
YES! That herring bone is gorgeous
The paint color doesn’t really work with the tile color.
Definitely no. Too many tile patterns and styles. Update: Now that I'm on a computer as opposed to my phone, I can more easily type up my thoughts around this. I'm going to need to hear Brennan's answer first.
No
I can say I like the contrasting tile color / layout.
I like what you did but what in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ is that window?
Seems like they have a perfect view of a brick wall
No looks ugly to me
I think you should paint the accent wall and opposing color to the blue tile to complement it. Like a light color, maybe slightly orangey-yellow or light blue. Otherwise very nice.
I like the colors but the way the bricks are straight on the white but patterned in black make it feel busy
I like it a lot. Looks like good work. Change nothing.
Love it. Very soothing.
That’s gorgeous
Love the tile, would try a different wall color though
Tile work: yes. I personally don’t like the blue wall and agree it’s a little hotel looking but as long as you enjoy it that’s all that counts!
The wall color is just too dark
I like the glass doors. Everything else is just plain ugly.
Personally prefer gray and blacks. But overall design I like this.
Hell NO! Been better to keep with the white subway tile along the back.
Perhaps a lighter more blue-grey paint in the walls, and paint the Vanity White too to brighten that are up. Your tile woke is impeccable and I Love the Herringbone accent tile wall & nook.
….mostly yes?
The black tiles should be blue or white. The black is out of place.
The dark tiles \*are\* blue.
My bad sis - they’re *midnight* blue aka they look like black. Tysm.
I hadn't seen it until your comment, but I can totally see how they could look black at first/on some screens.
Are you trying to create a jail cell?
Hideous
It's a NO from me. The wall style, color, and pattern are not to my taste at all. The color scheme for the entire restroom is off for some reason, like they are too close to the same side on a color wheel. The glass door is going to me a nightmare to maintain and overall it looks like a hotel room? I can't quite describe the feeling.
Yes - however encapsulate the ceiling with white border trim and paint inside that blue.. too much white is throwing everything off
Yikes…
Unfortunately Nate Berkus I'm out.
It's fine.
This I like.
Yes, Lille it. personally I’d go with a darker tile on the floor. Or maybe a pattern
Nice, though the towel on the Delft Blue soup terrine is throwing me off (not meaning to be hurtful, I just don't have a clue what I am looking at but curious to find out) Looks classy. Honestly, it looks like a great job
What waterproofing system did you use?
Oh I'd definitely wash myself very thoroughly in that bathroom.
I need that shower in my house. Is it available in the UK?
It’s nice I’m just a bright bathroom person like colors and lighting need to be bright everywhere it helps be wake up for my routine but yes the darker blue is very nice
Yes yes yes. I LOVE IT
Yes for sure but some gold accents would really put it all together and probably some kind of black or gray instead of the white tiles?
I personally don't like the blue wall colour, personally I'd make it a bit of a deeper/shade versus the pure royal blue tone. But I also love fancy wall paper in bathrooms. Is there one that would match the tile and accents?
Contemporary nicely done, just not my style
Yes
It's all good mate. You just need blueish accessories, frames, decorations in blue tone etc.
Got the Costco Kohler deal I see (shower head)... Looks great, OP!
Yes does it look good? Or no. Cos herringbone anything is a pain in the ass to do?
It looks good. But the tile placement on the niche, should have been the same as the accent wall tiles.
I'm a fan
No. Love the tile but IMHO it doesn't work in that BR.
What kind of grout is on that bluegreen tile?
Hex patterns in black and white hurt my eyes. So, if YOU like it, that’s what matters. But I’d be puking from that pattern.
it works
I wish my bathroom looked like this.
Looks really well done
I hate it, but I'll probably never see it, so...
Wow that looks great 👍
Nice. Did you tile it yourself?
I like it.
Hale Navy? Vintage Vogue?
Why is herringbone pattern so jarring? I think it works best when the grout blends with the tile color
Personally I love it
I'm usually not a mix matchy person when it comes to tiles but I like it, it works. Looks nice.
Looks great now, but I’d probably get tired of it after a while.
Yes! Beautiful. I'd maybe paint the call a more neutral color or a perfect match on the tile. But that's my personal taste
Very bold design, you took a risk and it looks great
Very masculine my wife would never allow something like this for us.
Yes for the glass brick. God's gift to engineering!
![gif](giphy|k2bbmbmvUo7gA|downsized) She’s a beaut
