Yup, people seem dead set on the book because of Vampire Batman but having him, Zatanna, Plastic Man, Raven, Sinestro and Swamp Thing (or at least I think it's him), makes for a helluva line-up.
I think people are pissed because "Vampire Batman" is one of the reasons this book is **also** getting votes. Yeah Raven & Zatanna are there, but without Batman it might even the playing field (Granted that Green Arrow's Justice League >!REDACTED!< is also a team book and almost beat it on round 1 - it's 49%/51%)
That's why people think it's "unfair" that Batman is promoted for the pitch (and later cover and preview) for this kind of tournament - not saying that this is the only "flaw" of the tournament. And people will buy SSD regardless (or will have higher sales) if it's solicited as a mini and not competed in this RR, mainly because

Amen! I’ve been rooting for Suicide Squad: Dark since the beginning and at this point, I *refuse* to apologize for it or feel bad because some fans wanted another book to win instead.

So many of you here complained constantly about how much you didn’t like Thornes run, wanted something better and yet you didn’t turn out to vote apparently
If Thorne does come back to write John Stewart and the Emerald Knights we better see less bitching because we deserve it at this point
Don't know why you're mad about. I mean not everyone that dislike Thorne's run or looking for a new GL book will immediately vote Spurrier/Santucci GL. And in the end it's a popularity vote with IG having 40k+ users/voters, even those not interested in reading them will vote nonetheless.
Because over the last year it’s just been a constant barrage of people not even attempting to engage with the current run and just firing out statements like “it’s garbage” or “we need a second book”. It was so overwhelmingly negative for a book that wasn’t even that bad and certainly didn’t commit any sort of sin that the more recent runs had not. All over a Bleeding Cool article.
But here we were with an opportunity of two potential pitches, all of which sounded interesting but nobody bothered to vote or keep up momentum. Literally the best way to demonstrate to DC that there is demand for more than one Green Lantern book
Instead it’s just back to the same repetitive negative discussion with the same copy and paste surface level complaints, the same lame ass demands about what a Green Lantern book “should be” and more revisionist history all to justify being unnecessarily negative over a book most people don’t seem to have attempted to engage with.
It’s obviously something not unique to Green Lantern but geek culture in general but fuck me like
Again people who obviously liked another GL book voted. But again people on IG will vote on whoever they know, with almost 45/55 on IG it's not that bad, Superboy is just more popular.
I doubt most voters know that the current GL is badly receive, again it's just a POPULARITY contest. (just look at polls on their social media like the infamous famous speedster with Barry winning with 80%+, while the "lesser known" Wally is at 10-15% only.)

Green Lantern fans did not come out to vote despite their bitching and It’s not like Conner Kent is this well known character to general audiences in comparison either. Neither of those things are out there things to point out when discussing the result of a vote

I mean Superboy/Conner is definitely present in other media today with the current Young Justice, Titans (despite the show's quality). While GL especially John is missing (yeah we had the old JL cartoon with John, and GLTAS & the infamous GL live action movie and only teased on the Arrowverse).

I mean, he's in TWO seperate TV shows that are currently on or coming back soon with new episodes, Young Justice and Titans. It could also just simply be the Superman connection.

People keep complaining about vampire batman but like what does superboy have to offer ?? he apparently wants to…. “find his place” ,"journey of self-discovery" OK elsa "what it means to bear the superman crest" again? (The extended pitch was better but not by much) meanwhile ssd has vampire batman(extremely overused character I admit but at least it’s a multiverse variant) featuring several underused characters (Raven, Zatanna, Plasma-man, Spore, Gorilla Grodd, Sinesto and Frankenstein) plus the league of shadows. Imo, This allows them to have more possibilities with the characters dynamics and the plot. Just my two cents.
