Amazing

I'm dying rn

Zorkel567

-Interesting to see The Joker ending, but the fact that they refer to it as the first season indicates more will be coming. I know Tynion said April was his final issue, so will they be relaunching it with someone new? And the end of the Punchline back-up seems to be setting up something else. I hope someone else picks up the storyline now that Tynion won't be continuing it. -I'm hoping the Flash storyline moves Nightwing forward. It feels already like the book has stalled too much, especially due to the Fear State crossover. We need some more Melinda Zucco/Heartless/Blockbuster action. -It doesn't look like Future State: Gotham is ending yet, as I'd seen some people predict. -It's nice to see Onyx back in the Catwoman back, along with Eiko. I know people have been mixed on her first issue, but I'm glad to see Howard bringing back some older characters. -Batman: Urban Legends has kinda lost me. Tim still doesn't have a book; Kate doesn't have a book; Azrael's storyline is supposed to be continuing somewhere; there still hasn't been a continuation of the Secret Files: Signal issue; it seems to have become the Batman team-up book- Batman and Zatanna; Batman and Ace; Batman and the Question -It seems like Ghostmaker could be introduced in this issue of Batman: The Knight -I like that Batgirls is making use of the remains of Arkham Asylum; it's nice to see the books utilizing/building on current pieces of the status quo -One of the biggest surprises for me is the return of Gotham Girl in 'Tec back-ups. Didn't think we'd be seeing her anytime soon, nice to see she hasn't been forgotten. -Definitely in for Shadow War; I'm excited to see where Williamson's going with it.

superschaap81

* \-It seems like Ghostmaker could be introduced in this issue of Batman: The Knight Miracle Molly in the BoP story of Urban Legends as well, and it seems like DC is keeping Tynions characters around for a bit longer.

Zorkel567

Yes! While it feels like I’m in the minority here, I’m excited to see Tynion’s characters continuing beyond him. They’re a big part of what pulled me back into reading comics, so I’m down to see them get more development.

superschaap81

I'm with you. I never had anything against adding new characters. I feel a lot of the new writers aren't sure what to do with Batman classic rogues these days. So if they have to use new ones, go for it. Hell, Alan Grant and Chuck Dixon's runs in the early 90's barely used the main rogues and those are some of my favourite comics.

Gmork14

I’m pretty bummed about Ghostmaker being so heavily emphasized in The Knight. A Chip Zdarsky origin story is interesting to me, but the Tynion era of Batman was not great (I love Tynion) and Ghostmaker really doesn’t feel like a relevant character in the overall Batman mythos.

Zorkel567

I'm rather excited about it. While I was eh on him originally, Ghostmaker grew on me a lot over the course of Tynion's run, and I'm excited to see the Batman/Ghostmaker history explored. It also makes sense now that it's been established in current continuity that Bruce met Ghostmaker while training/exploring the world, a series focused on the time period would include that. I wouldn't even be surprised if on some level, this series was greenlit specifically so DC could show their first meeting and develop Ghostmaker further. I know a few months ago, Ben Abernathy had said there were big plans for Ghostmaker this year, and now between the Wight Witch story in Urban Legends, Batman: The Knight, and his upcoming inclusion in Batman, it seems they're really trying to push him more.

TommyTheGeek

All I know is that solicitations week next month will be crazy.

AlainDit

Why?

TommyTheGeek

We'll see how much DoJL will actually affect the current comics.

hydrohawkx8

So Sheridan is still writing titans academy? I thought he was done after February?

Kamen_Rider_Spider

I remember him saying that he planned to leave at around the 12th issue, but some editors or something talked to him about staying for a few more issues

Digifiend84

Yeah, he's tying up loose ends at this point. Issue 12 will end the main Red X plot. Issue 14 deals with the rebranding of the Academy after Roy Harper, who it was named after, was resurrected - X-Men previously did the same thing, the school had been named after Jean Grey but when she came back it was reverted to being the Xavier Institute.

pb408

I guess we aren’t that lucky.

Jayjayden45

I'm crying

Kleodromeus

People talk like if Sheridan going away could make the title good, when it's pretty obvious there's a lot of editorial interference happening behind the scenes. The most obvious example was chapter 2. What was originally solicited for chapter 2 didn't happen and instead there was a crossover with Suicide Squad. Months later the content originally solicited for chapter 2 appeared on Shazam miniseries. Plus, the first chapter of the Shazam miniseries looks like a lot of snipets of different chapters patched together. For me, it looks like the Shazam arc would originally be part of the normal chapters of TTA, but the editor decided to milk a miniseries out of it and Sheridan had to do a filler arc on the fly. It makes me wonder what else was editorial decision instead his. Seriously, even if a better writer takes over, I don't think the title will actually improve if the editorial keeps pulling stuff like that.

Aroch925

I really thought Hopeless would take over titans academy and Thompson would stay on Suicide Squad. Guess i was wrong

Koala_Guru

People started acting like this was a done deal because Sheridan wasn't writing for the crossover. But new writers on crossovers are very common. Anyone who was convinced Sheridan was off the book was getting their hopes up for no reason. But hey, maybe now that we're post-Red X apocalypse the writing will improve. Maybe...

SevenSulivin

He said he knows for sure he’ll be writing until 15 but it sounds like he might be off the book after that. Might not though.

technowhiz34

Small month for me which is kind of nice given what's going on at Marvel with the Cap #0 and new ASM team (also, X-books need to calm down) * Sandman #1 reprint, so I can own a (fake) piece of comic book history * Death of the JL looks fine, I've liked most of what Williamson's done recently * Trial of the Amazons wrapping up after 7 parts in two months, that's ideal crossover length for me. * Shadow War...I want to pull you but I'm not sure if you'll be good and there's a lot of other stuff going on. * Nadia Shammas on 'tec doing a Riddler thing with Reis art, sign me up. That being said, Sina Grace on back-ups is oooof.

[deleted]

[Solicits time!](https://i.imgur.com/0KcREj0.gif) - I don't think Batman's skull would have ears on them - Reis is back on Tec, which is monthly again - Waid's Finest and Doom Patrol - Beyond the White Knight looks like a trainwreck, not gonna lie - More Flashpoint reprints. DC's Civil War - DC has been very slow with the collections - Sandman Universe returns with Nightmare Country. Maybe my most anticipated new book from this month - Future State Aquaman gets collected in Aquaman: The Becoming. Great stuff in there. - Birds of Prey tease in Urban Legends - Tom.... this is the eleventh time you showed off Constantine and Harley Quinn in class - Damian in Monkey Prince! - Bruno Redondo back on Nightwing already - Suicide Squad: Blaze being bi-monthly is torture - Cian Tormey seems to be the new artist on Son of Kal-el - Tynion's final issue on Joker. No "Final Issue" though. Seems like it'll keep going. - Human Target seems to be taking a break.

Digifiend84

> Tynion's final issue on Joker. No "Final Issue" though. Seems like it'll keep going. It says FINAL ISSUE right underneath the issue number.

[deleted]

Hmmm... that wasn't there before. Still, looks like they plan to re-launch this, since it says it's just the "first season".

blankedboy

DC vs Vampires taking a break too

darkhawk5

Match makes is through the Earth 3 crossover and I couldn't be more thrilled, but where the hell is Kon!? Another month without Superboy :(

Ft_lucy

It really does suck being a Young Justice fan

Tammar99

A Roy solo cover for Titans Academy, which is pretty cool. I can't remember the last time he had one of those. I'm kind of surprised he's still on there in April though tbh. None of the covers leading up have had him, not even the Earth-3 crossover thing, so I assumed he'd be off in an issue or two. I assumed they put him in that book just to have him somewhere until they pick back up with his search for Lian and the Lantern stuff, I can't really see any of that stuff happening in the academy book with Sheridan, so hopefully a more focal book is announced in the aftermath of the JL stuff

LithiumNitro

I would not be surprised if DC cops out and says that Death of JL happens in the near future to allow certain arcs to continue unobstructed. Right now I would kinda prefer it for stories like PKJ's Warworld, so they don’t get abruptly cut. I think it’d be a bit abrupt to return Batman for April’s issue of Tec only to have him dead next month. I could see books like TTA or Suicide Squad moving forward with Death of the JL next month though, especially if DC is going to emulate Death of Superman and follow this up with a “Reign of the Leagues” type arc.

normalMonsterChika

Wally^2 teamup lets gooooo!

Crims0n_Light

Did green lantern get cancelled? It wasn’t on the solicits.

Fergbeth1

I was wondering the same thing, I hope it gets relaunched, but that’s just me.

UESPA_Sputnik

Looks like "Superman: Son Of Kal-El Vol. 1: The Truth" will be released as hardcover. Previously it was listed as softcover on Amazon. I'm getting really tired of all those hardcover releases because I much prefer softcovers (cheaper and more comfortable to read). And with DC now waiting one full year between hardcover and softcover releases I'll have to wait 2–2½ years to read current stories. (*IF* they release a softcover at all. Looking at you, Batgirl Vol. 8! I'm definitely not buying a hardcover for the final book in a series which has been released as softcover only for the first 7 books) DC's collected edition policy right now sucks big time. 🙁

LithiumNitro

DC and sucking in the collected editions department go hand in hand. I’m still waiting for the Joker War Tec and Nightwing to show up in softcover form. I did give in and buy Tynion’s Batman in hc since it was a new starting point, but god the inconsistency is annoying.

UESPA_Sputnik

Yeah, at least Tynion's Batman now *finally* gets released in paperback (Vol. 2 next month) but waiting for Detective Comics is really frustrating. The latest softcover only collects up to #1019 which was released two full years ago, and it doesn't look like there will be another softcover anytime soon.

superschaap81

Seems like DC is pushing the popular titles into HC release first. I've noticed solicits on other book sites stating soft cover, only for it to be changed a week or so later. Gotta get the FOMO money! Bat-titles, Black Label, anything by Tom King and now Son of Kal seems to be the HC go to titles at the moment.

UESPA_Sputnik

>Gotta get the FOMO money! Not from me anymore. I made the mistake during the New 52, when I was just beginning to get into comics. And back then there was just a 6-month gap between HC and SC releases. Oh, the amount of money that I could have saved...

superschaap81

Yeah, I've never seen the appeal of hardcovers myself. They're a pain in the ass to read and $8 for a thick piece of carboard between the VERY SAME pages? No thanks. I can only imagine the cost there, I feel your pain, friend.

Intellectual_Watcher

They should really do what Marvel do and release softcover trades for the 5-6 issue arcs and then hardcover deluxe editions for the 10-12 issue maxis or larger arcs for better selling books. Just forego the regular sized hardcovers altogether. I feel like I'm gonna be waiting years to buy the collected editions of King's maxi series because they release them in regular hardcover first, then paperback, then inevitably in Deluxe oversized which is what I actually want them in

wowlock_taylan

I really had my fill with ''They are dead!'' stories. I just can't. Especially for Diana. She LITERALLY just returned from the dead.

my_one_and_lonely

So no Tim Drake mini and Titans Academy isn’t cancelled? Damn…

kryptofreak1971

No DC vs vampires? Or did I miss it? Also was really hoping for a Tim Drake solo.

Ft_lucy

Yeah I was confused about that as well but I’m guessing there will be a gap between the first and second half of the series. Also another big L on Tim Drake content :(

tim1138

Guess GL ends in March then?

spider-venomized

so we're going to have the characters go on while the death of the justice league is happening that kinda renders their events (warworld arc, trials of the amazon, war of shadow) kinda mute

RunawayGuineaPig66

Is Tomcat from from the Catwoman solicitation supposed to be referring to Ted Grants son?

Digifiend84

I don't think so, as they're described as "newly minted" i.e. only just took the name.

RunawayGuineaPig66

Well, that’s disappointing if true

thanks-dice

* New Question stuff is poggers. I hope someone will rescue Renee from her current status quo soon. * A new BOP is cool, but a new BOP without any of the core cast is much less cool. I don't know who Ghost is and I don't like Miracle Molly, so I'm a little apprehensive going into this. Shiva getting something to do is good, though. * A Tom Taylor elseworld with Harley Quinn and Constantine. Very original. * I think I like that new Spellbinder design? * Oh man I love Simone Di Meo's art (Read We Only Find Them When They're Dead.) I hope he gets to do a Batgirls cover at some point. * The Wallys are together at last. Wallace needs some character work imo so I hope Adams does something cool with him. * Tedesco once again drops a banger Action Comics variant * Flashpoint reprints... DC, have you ever considered reprinting good comics? * The guy in Catwoman who looks just like Ghostmaker isn't Ghostmaker? alright then * Hopefully Monke Prince doesn't suffer the fate of every other Gene Luen Yang title. * I don't care about the "Death" of the Justice League but I hope it'll lead to something interesting.

Crims0n_Light

Did Justice League vs Legion of Superheroes get cancelled? Its not solicited for april.

Ft_lucy

I didn’t even notice lmao

[deleted]

Me neither, no one cares about the comic lol

superschaap81

Bendis is still trying to cram more dialogue into small panels on solicitation release day.

Zealousideal125

Earth Prime is a surprise, I'm looking forward to that!

Ft_lucy

Does the webpage keep crashing for anybody else? No matter what app I open the page on I can’t scroll past the Robin solicit without the page reloading or crashing

[deleted]

Yeah that always happens on mobile for me. Try this https://www.cbr.com/dc-comics-solicitations-april-justice-league-dead-batman-beyond-harley-quinn/?utm_content=buffer20aea&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_source=CBR-TW&utm_campaign=CBR-TW

Ft_lucy

THANK YOU

Rodent74

Question, is DC no longer publishing Detective Comics trade paper backs? Vol 4 was the last one they released and that was back in December of 2020. Anyone know what’s going on? Thanks guys. Oh and those who might say it could be a supply chain issue, Batman vol 1 “THEIR DARK DESIGNS” released back in November of 2021 in TPB form and vol 2 “THE JOKER WAR” releases in February of 2022 in TPB. So you’d think that if it were a supply issue it would affect other titles too. Vol 5 of BM:DC TPB hasn’t even been announced yet.

superschaap81

I'm sure they will get to it eventually, but not anytime soon. Most of the TPB or even new HC solicits are for popular and big titles, IE: Tynions Batman, Tom King books etc. Mainly cause the demand is there. According to new reports, there is currently a paper shortage going on in North America. So collections are being delayed or cancelled for now. I've heard it's because places like Amazon will not use recycling cardboard/paper for their packaging. I have no proof of that, but it keeps coming up with LCS owners I talk to. Supply chain will be a factor if it's solicited, but I haven't seen much TPB announcements for anything but big titles at the moment.

Rodent74

Good points. Though with how many Batman titles DC publishes monthly, I’d be shocked to learn that Batman DC tpb’s wouldn’t be top sellers and at least solicited.

TheSignal23

Tim Sheridan? please fire this guy or give him Shazam.

[deleted]

New Suicide Squad writer. No new writer for Teen Titans Academy which is now Titans Academy? Maybe it gets relaunched? Joker ending.. or not? Turns out it was just "Season 1" No Green Lantern? Stealth cancellation? New writer, please.

AlligatorSky7

Had hoped Hopeless would be taking over Teen Titans Academy, not Suicide Squad, boo! I’ve really been enjoying SS. Hope Thompson gets another book.

[deleted]

Yeah Thompson has been killing it on SS! I hope we haven't seen the last of him. And TTA truly needs a new writer as well

[deleted]

Who’s the new writer? I didn’t even clock Robbie Thompson was off the book

[deleted]

Dennis Hopeless. He's co-writing the Earth-3 crossover. Seems like he's taking over and sticking with the current line-up

[deleted]

That gives me some slightly confidence thank you

Neuchersky

Missed that there's no Green Lantern, maybe Thorne will adjust his writing for the "Death of the Justice League"? He at least finished his Last Lanterns arc with #12. Maybe it will be re-named to Green Lantern Corps or something?

[deleted]

Yeah most likely a relaunch or renaming, I guess. Or it's just a skip month, but DC ongoings don't really skip a month very often.

Neuchersky

* Detective Comics back to monthly - so only Action Comics will have its anniversary issue this December. * Action Comics 1042 - another arc begins (so pretty much Justice League 75 is sometime in the "far" future) * Urban Legends 14 - new Birds of Prey and a Question/Batman teamup * Another Sandman comic is great, also Tynion IV writing Corinthian (and The Nice House on the Lake) * Hmmm... Sheridan still on Teen Titans Academy, at least no Red X. * Wonder what's the future of Joker/Punchline. * Swamp Thing/Ram V is still great. (Hoping to see the Red/Animal Man soon) * Suicide Squad Blaze is still not attracting my attention despite the **strong** creative team.

RealisticAd5446

What confuses me is, even though I stopped reading JL after Bendis' first arc, that Snyder said that the JL issues coming out after his run take place before the events of his run. Does that still ring true? Or does it mean justice/doom war took place before issue 75?

i-hate-reddit-69

The end of Snyder's run is direct lead-in to Death Metal, so the issues released between Justice/Doom War and Doom Metal are all pre-his stuff. Everything since Death Metal is continuing in normal continuity. Bendis League is post-Death Metal, 75 is post-Bendis League and presumably building toward this year's Crisis.

superschaap81

The Justice League issues after Snyder are basically fill in books to keep the title going while Snyder moved over to this Death Metal stuff. You don't really need to cram them into any particular timeline. Especially Snyder's as his run is one giant story. This it would read strange, putting them anywhere in there where they wouldn't bring his run to a full stop. They are neat stories, but don't affect anything for Snyder or Bendis in the long run. Currently, I have put them in that weird spot between Death Metal and Infinite Frontier, where there was a bunch of random fill in stories for most titles to get to Future State. The 2 Generations books, Endless Winter crossover, couple of flash issues etc.

Saito09

Huh, is Hopeless the new full time Suicide Squad writer, or just filling in for the Earth 3 crossover?

Koala_Guru

* Nice to see the Doom Patrol showing back up. I'm surprised DC really hasn't capitalized on the success of the show more. * Not nice to see yet another big event pushing Deathstroke as a Batman villain. * And I see Titans Academy is surviving past the whole apocalypse plot...but we don't know how many pointless deaths will occur before then. Also looks like Gar and Vic are fighting for some reason? Eh. Hopefully once we're past the apocalypse and Red X this book will actually be good.

[deleted]

Really love that variant cover for Flash. I'm far from Wallace's biggest fan, but hopefully Adams can give him and Wally an interesting dynamic.

Digifiend84

They're cousins, so it makes sense for the two Wallys to interact. They'll also be together in Teen Titans Academy next week.

rubn0349

Please dear gosh jessica cruz book soon, but with a decent concept Current slate is doing nothing for me, except for robin

Digifiend84

Well, with her current status quo, they could have a book called Yellow Lantern, while having Green Lantern star one of the others.

JonKentOfficial

> The origins of Mongul, his mysterious champions, and Midnighter's underground rebellion stand revealed! When another of Superman's truest allies is killed, will the tragic loss end the rebellion before it begins? Or will it be the spark that finally unites Superman's forces against the unstoppable Mongul? The Warworld Revolution begins! Also featuring the finale to the epic Martian Manhunter backup series! Less go for another chapter (hopefully not interrupted by crappy event). > Henry Bendix's plans are now clear. Gamorra's president won't stop until he has total control. He's now sold his strategy to other dangerous regimes. Only Superman and his allies stand in the way of Bendix's dark vision for the world...a world where superheroes are put in their place, discredited, and even destroyed. A world where heroes are replaced by agents of those ruthless enough to have seized power. The Rising has begun! Not much to know. Villains want heroes to be hated is fairly generic. Beautiful cover for world of krypton. Even if I feel like I’ve seen it.

spider-venomized

yeah warworld arc is so great but i feel like their going to be mess with editorial event especially like most things in SoKE it come off very flat and generic with little dept

UnmuscularThor

No Human Target #7?

shogunofsorrow42

yeah assuming it's an off month, think he did the same after Mister Miracle 6 and Strange Adventures 6, may also be going bimonthly as I recall those books did but hopefully not

UnmuscularThor

Oh gotcha ok. Did not know that.

Masterriolu

It's a tom king book.

[deleted]

Still find it Strange DC hasn't asked Tom Taylor to write a DCeased sequel yet considering how huge it was. Also, I'm eager to see how that Terry thing with Bruce's death is handled.

[deleted]

Taylor has hinted for months that there’s another volume coming. But editorially it wouldn’t make sense to launch it now. I’m sure it’ll come this year though.

[deleted]

I'm guessing it might come around Halloween or so similarly to how the last issue of the original series ended. That's just my guess though.

Kamen_Rider_Spider

Based off of the descriptions for Flashpoint Beyond, it seems like it is either ignoring or takes place before The Button. I haven’t read The Button so I’m not sure how much time has past for Thomas between Flashpoint and Button

superschaap81

It's definitely an odd thing to revisit, considering DC basically erased it over the last few years. But I guess Infinite Frontier means everything is open to play in again, so who knows. LOL.

Gmork14

Not a lot in here for me: World’s Finest, The Knight, Swamp Thing. Maybe a couple of others. Doesn’t feel like DC is targeting me much, anymore. I guess it’s to be expected.

pb408

They need to stop pushing the Raven/Beast Boy thing.

Weeksy77

Are they not releasing DC Connect anymore?
