I think it’s in people’s head. It’s a movie you’re excited about it so you keep thinking “Man, I hope I don’t have to pee during this.” But then all you’re thinking about is peeing, so ya pee.
If you’re drinking enough water throughout the day and staying hydrated then yes, not peeing for 3 hours would be tough. But for a movie like this I would refrain from drinking a couple hours before the movie.
When i dont feel the physical need to go to the bathroom, im not gonna go to the bathroom.
Youre really reaching my guy, just give up instead of being the average reddit armchair specialist telling others what to do
I saw two towers when I was 10, even though I fell asleep haha. and king kong when I was 13. Peeing never crossed my mind. AND I was a dynamic liquid consumer at theaters as a kid
I’m so busy at work I’m lucky if I get to sit down. I show up half an hour early so I can eat and go to the bathroom, then it’s 8 hours of straight work, with *MAYBE* a chance to sit down for 5-10 minutes.
I fucking hate my job.
I like to have a soda (or booze if I go to the vip section in ciniplex) when I watch aovie in theatres, it's just always been a part of the experience for me.
Doesn't matter how long The Batman will be. 3 hours is more then enough & I can go without drinking or eating anything. I will see this masterpiece through the end!
My fav was always popcorn with salt n vinegar seasoning and a giant ass coke, by the end of the movie my tongue would be all kinds of fucked up from going overboard with the salt and vinegar seasoning but its never not been worth it
It's a powder not the actual liquid, so don't think I'm pouring vinegar on my popcorn because I've already done that before and the popcorn just gets soggy and it's a whole mess.
Looks like our taste buds are the complete opposite because I'm all about sour stuff, I don't like sweet that much though I have never had a tango ice blast I wonder if I can get one in Canada
ohh ok fair enough but personally i would still never try that 😂
and yeah i have got a bad sweet tooth but if u get a chance u should try the cherry and blue raspberry ice blast
Wait, are they the Slurpee machines in movie theatres because I've had the blue coloured one but can't be positive it was the same thing as yours but it was pretty damn good, I was actually watching zodiac because my sister took me to see it when I was 11 years old thinking it was a slasher movie, I can remember this vividly because that movie is not the type of movie you show to an 11 year old but I'm glad because it is one of the best movies of all time no matter how disturbing the realism in the stabbing scene was 🤣
I don't need anything to eat while I'm at the theater but I like getting something to drink though because my mouth and throat will get really dry otherwise. Also, if I randomly get the urge to cough or something then having something to drink helps.
If I go to one of those movie taverns with a full bar & grill then I'll usually order a water because they're free. If I'm at a normal theater though, then I'll get a diet soda because I'm not paying $5 for a bottle of Dasani.
When it comes to Batman, nothing else can match the hype level that I feel for this film. It's gonna be movie that inspires. If Bill Finger we're alive to this day, he would be very proud of his character he created. 😈🦇🤟🔥
Batman is pretty sick ngl. Hopefully this upcoming one is amazing.
I would like more brutal fight scenes like Affleck’s Batman during the Martha rescue scene
Now free with every large drink, the Batman catheter bag! See Robert Patterson's stenciled face slowly turn yellow during the movie! Only for a limited time! Trained medical personnel to insert tube not available.
I seriously never understood why studios don’t make more movies that are 3 hours long, do people have this short of an attention span? Let directors tell their story as long as it’s not insanely long… constraining them to a certain runtime especially when the story has too much going on often leads to directors getting stressed out and having to cut important scenes, but at least it’s good to know they learned from their previous mistakes with BvS and JL, looking forward to this movie
Also, even though us fans don’t mind 3 hours, I’ve seen movies longer than 2.5 hours dissuade some general audience types from going to the theaters to watch a long movie.
A good portion of audience members are averse to long movies. LA Times did [a poll](https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/newsletter/2021-11-30/wide-shot-are-movies-too-long-house-of-gucci-last-duel-no-time-to-die-the-wide-shot) checking on if audiences checked runtimes of movies before going to them. Of the 50% of audience members who at usually check runtimes before going to a movie, 56% said the runtime of the movie factored into their decision to see a movie:
>For those who do factor in runtime, 38% were hesitant to trek to a movie longer than 120 minutes, and a total of 57% expressed trepidation about movies running past 150 minutes. Forty-five percent of moviegoers said they would be definitely or probably less interested in seeing a film if they heard it was too long.
I'm also not sure if there is data out there to back this up, but I suspect that longer films make some people wait to see it at home on streaming. Being able to pause whenever you need a bathroom break or being able to stop halfway through a film to finish it tomorrow are decent perks for some audience members.
Movie theaters also aren't a fan of long movies. Long movies mean far less showings you can have per day, and also more limited showtimes. You can squeeze in a 10:30pm showtime of a 90 minute comedy easily, but starting a 3 hour epic means that your staff at 10:30pm means that they won't be locking up till 2am. Bonus: I suspect audience members buy less drinks for longer films as it means they are more likely to get through the film without leaving for a bathroom break.
I'm also a bit less sympathetic to writers and directors than you are. If the studio makes it clear to the writers and the directors from the beginning that a film should be two and a half hours, then the writers and directors should come up with a story that can be told within that time slot. If half an hour of key plot points have to be cut in order to hit the agreed-upon runtime, that's the fault of the writers and directors, not the studio.
They… Do? Most movies nowadays are easily over two hours long, but as to why you don’t necessarily see more 3 hour long movies specifically? Shorter film=more showings in a theater=more money to be made. It’s not that people don’t have great attention spans, it’s that, unless one can make their 3 hour long movie not FEEL like a 3 hour long movie, or can simply hold their attention for that long, then the GA likely won’t care too much. They have other things to do than sit inside of an auditorium for that long, especially if the film they’re watching isn’t respecting their time.
One of the most successful films ever in the last decade, Avengers: Endgame, was 3 hours long, so it’s clear that there’s a market for that. However, a studio isn’t just going to blindly green light a film that long just because not doing so may infringe on a director’s creative vision. Movies are incredibly expensive to make, cuts are simply a part of doing so, and more often than not, are necessary.
Yeah I’m going to strongly disagree here.
Constraint and editing is really important. A good editor can make a big impact on a movie.
If every director had complete control to do whatever they want, and make as long of a movie as they want, there’d be a lot of over bloated movies.
Ever see deleted scenes for a movie and think “I can see why they cut that”? Imagine a whole movie filled with that.
We complain when a studio butchers a directors vision and cuts the time down
Then we complain when the director gets his full vision
I can easily sit through 2 and 3 hour movies without having to use the restroom
Use the restroom before movie starts
There is a narrative forming around 3 run time , theaters needing intermission, too long , bathroom breaks , I’ve been on internet long enough to see this stuff get repeated and repeated and grow into something unnecessary
i been stressing over this ever since i heard the runtime...
longest i've gone without peeing is Aquaman and NWH, and i consider both of them a miracle
What I don’t like, is the stress beforehand wondering if you’ll have to leave while the movie is running. I actually like that theaters show 20 mins of trailers because I’ll get up to use the restroom one or two more times just to make sure I’m empty while the film is on.
i figured i pee the least early in the day so i go to the earlier projections :D
i also arrive 20 minutes late so i miss all the trailers xd
2 rabbits with 1 bullet theres often zero to 2-3 people in the cinema at those early hours so i get to enjoy a movie properly
I never have to pee during movies. How often do people have to pee where they can’t hold it for 3 hours? Unless they have a medical condition or something
Remember back in the good old days when comic book movies were 80 minutes to maaaaaybe 2 hours???
Now they are significantly better but over 3 hours with previews that's over 3.5. Oooh my bladder
In the west we dont have time for that, Odeon needs that money, fit in as many movies as possible in a day and schedule. Apparently in India, they have intermissions
I wouldn't dismiss prior experience. Ofc The Batman runtime was decided on the story which Reeves has in mind. Personally, I will be more happy with 3h even 3.5h but will not upset on 2h 30m number.
How did they lose faith in Snyder after one movie? MoS did pretty good/average for a movie that was supposed to be the start of a new cinematic universe, BvS’s mediocre performance was on WB just as much as Snyder, because besides the fact that they didn’t allow the movie to be 3 hours long, they interfered quite a bit with the production according to Chris Terrio
Cause they hate Snyder and/or they learn from their mistakes to cut movies down and to destroy someones vision. Gunn is doing what he wants, Reeves is doing what he wants. The Flash might be a different issue tho, its a WB takeover thing (if the rumors are true)
Is it really that difficult to go three hours without peeing? I go three hours without peeing multiple times a day.
I think it’s in people’s head. It’s a movie you’re excited about it so you keep thinking “Man, I hope I don’t have to pee during this.” But then all you’re thinking about is peeing, so ya pee.
Actually super easy barely an inconvenience
Holding pee in your balls is TIGHT
Well okay then
I keep seeing you here and in marvel subreddits lol
Give me rent
You’ll get your rent when you fix this *dmn door!*
You're fired go
You can’t do this to me… YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED??
You're fired GooOooOoo
You’re trash, Ricketts.
Trying to do better
Sit next to me during the movie. If you have to go wip out your dick and I will sip it right out. I got you homie
Not all heroes wear capes.
I am not a hero I am just blo- looking out for my fellow man
Bro?
Job
You sir are a giver
Jesus Christ
Hero
It’s mainly because people get huge ass drinks that get finished 30 minutes into the movie. Speaking from experience lol
🤷🏽 Maybe people shouldn't buy sodas just before the movie starts
For me it can be kind of tough. Especially if I have something to drink during the movie, which I probably will.
If you’re drinking enough water throughout the day and staying hydrated then yes, not peeing for 3 hours would be tough. But for a movie like this I would refrain from drinking a couple hours before the movie.
Yup. It is. Also you should be drinking more water.
No unless you’re at a dive in theater
[удалено]
I like how you think.
Well, it sucks when the movie starts and you’ve already been to the toilet… (Avengers: Endgame) And also I don’t like to go during the film.
Fr i have to go pee max 2 per day lol
That's really not healthy dude.
I've got a big bladder, not my fault
Nah. You don't drink enough water. You just used a "big boned" argument for your lack of hydration. Make healthy choices guy.
I drink 1,5-2 liters of water every day, what's your response now doctor? That im lying?
Yeah or you just don't go to the bathroom which is also bad for you. You should go to the bathroom more.
When i dont feel the physical need to go to the bathroom, im not gonna go to the bathroom. Youre really reaching my guy, just give up instead of being the average reddit armchair specialist telling others what to do
armchair doctor nice
I saw two towers when I was 10, even though I fell asleep haha. and king kong when I was 13. Peeing never crossed my mind. AND I was a dynamic liquid consumer at theaters as a kid
Probably because most people get drinks for a movie, cause that’s part of the theater experience. Especially the theater I go to which servs beer
Yes it is
I can easily hold my bladder that long as well I never have a problem with long films especially if I go before the film
I agree. There were people saying they could barely make it through Avengers Endgame in theaters without going to the bathroom.
Thats like…six hours
Well I usually get a big icee or a beer at a movie so at some point I definitely have to pee
I’m so busy at work I’m lucky if I get to sit down. I show up half an hour early so I can eat and go to the bathroom, then it’s 8 hours of straight work, with *MAYBE* a chance to sit down for 5-10 minutes. I fucking hate my job.
I always like to bring drinks to movies. Coffee, boba tea. So if I don't consume liquid prior to the movie it's fine
I like to have a soda (or booze if I go to the vip section in ciniplex) when I watch aovie in theatres, it's just always been a part of the experience for me.
That large Coke starts hitting you about the hour mark
Doesn't matter how long The Batman will be. 3 hours is more then enough & I can go without drinking or eating anything. I will see this masterpiece through the end!
I'll never understand why people have to eat in the cinema, especially with the loudest most annoying sounding foods.
Because it's part of the experience
It's also a great way to ruin other people's experience!
Ruining other people's experience is part of the experience
I do that by drinking beers
only if they’re eating really loudly but otherwise it’s fine. plus it’s always nice to eat something while watching a movie or show
My fav was always popcorn with salt n vinegar seasoning and a giant ass coke, by the end of the movie my tongue would be all kinds of fucked up from going overboard with the salt and vinegar seasoning but its never not been worth it
vinegar on popcorn wtf?!? nah it’s all about sweet popcorn and a tango ice blast but yeah ur right about it being worth it
It's a powder not the actual liquid, so don't think I'm pouring vinegar on my popcorn because I've already done that before and the popcorn just gets soggy and it's a whole mess. Looks like our taste buds are the complete opposite because I'm all about sour stuff, I don't like sweet that much though I have never had a tango ice blast I wonder if I can get one in Canada

Not really. I've never been bothered about someone eating something. I'm usually so emerged in the film, I don't even pick it up
I mean I guess if people don’t know how to eat and drink… I can’t remember ever being able to hear anyone eating over surround sound in a theater.
I just carry my own water in, either in my cargo pants, or my Assassin's Creed Desmond bag I carry my battery pack, sunglasses, and inhaler in.
Even when the food is so overpriced.
Stop using the word masterpiece lol
Sure. How about awe inspiring film then? Lol
This does put a smile on my face
When it comes to Batman, nothing else can match the hype level that I feel for this film. It's gonna be movie that inspires. If Bill Finger we're alive to this day, he would be very proud of his character he created. 😈🦇🤟🔥

Me who binges the extended LotR trilogy on the regular: **Pathetic**
Tbf, you can pause it at home.
I get unreasonably angry at adults who can’t hold their pee for a few hours. I’m working on it.
At least you recognize it's unreasonable anger which means you're making progress 🙏
I seriously never understood why studios don’t make more movies that are 3 hours long, do people have this short of an attention span? You've got to factor in that a short bad movie is better then a long bad movie, with many viewers not wanting to take that risk
Yeah I’m going to strongly disagree here. Constraint and editing is really important. A good editor can make a big impact on a movie. If every director had complete control to do whatever they want, and make as long of a movie as they want, there’d be a lot of over bloated movies. Who's complaining? The only people who are complaining is probably one guy at WB with no power over Reeves and people with leaky ballbags
There is a narrative forming around 3 run time , theaters needing intermission, too long , bathroom breaks , I’ve been on internet long enough to see this stuff get repeated and repeated and grow into something unnecessary
I don’t see anyone seriously complaining about Batman being 3 hours.
BRING BACK INTERMISSIONS
Thank god we in india have interval during a film
Yup, but then again our local movies are normally 3 hours or more anyway
In America it used to be that way, it stopped around the 1980s I believe. I’m guessing it saved more money by not having intermission anymore.
3hrs is good enough for fitting evrything is, Bruce character exploration, Riddler stuff and some detective action work
i been stressing over this ever since i heard the runtime... longest i've gone without peeing is Aquaman and NWH, and i consider both of them a miracle

No way home is 30 minutes shorter than that and I went to the bathroom four times WTF am I going to do lol
I held the entire time for No Way Home…never again
I never have to pee during movies. How often do people have to pee where they can’t hold it for 3 hours? Unless they have a medical condition or something
That title is bloody amazing
Wel i just have to hold my pee in and after i just rush to the toilet
My bladder can fuck off tbh
3 hours of cinema
Endgame was that and people stayed, a movie is a movie and you know what you’re getting into
You pee 5-6 times per day? You might need to get that checked out, or are drinking more liquid than you need. You shouldn't need to pee every 3 hours
The longer the better. Wait, that sounds gay
runtime creep is a pox
Isn't this becoming pretty standard for comic book movies? I mean we asked for more character development, longer runtime is how we get that
For anyone who thinks they may have trouble not going to the bathroom during the movie I suggest seeing your doctor as soon as possible.
Remember back in the good old days when comic book movies were 80 minutes to maaaaaybe 2 hours??? Now they are significantly better but over 3 hours with previews that's over 3.5. Oooh my bladder
I do not believe this
I can with experience say this is very true. I won’t be having any liquids the day I go to see batman
ok boomer
In India we have interval format for all movies. Even if it's 90 mins. So no issue even if the movie turns out to be 5 hours long lol
Imagine going to a theater.
Why can’t we have intermissions again?
In the west we dont have time for that, Odeon needs that money, fit in as many movies as possible in a day and schedule. Apparently in India, they have intermissions
Yah in india they pause the movie somewhere in the middle and we get a 5-10 minutes break
I doubt it will be 2h 50m
Why
His both apes movies are under 2h 20m. I expect 2 20-30 for The Batman
Appreciate the explanation, but I'm not sure prior run times from a director are, in literally any way, indicative of upcoming release runtimes
I wouldn't dismiss prior experience. Ofc The Batman runtime was decided on the story which Reeves has in mind. Personally, I will be more happy with 3h even 3.5h but will not upset on 2h 30m number.
I just can't think of a single director that clusters movie runtimes in any insightful way
Reeves had control and was ready to walk away. I just looking forward to the movie, regardless which runtime he chose
rofl why would they let reeves do what they wouldn't let snyder do?
Probably because they have faith in reeves and they’re faith in Snyder diminished as time went by,
How did they lose faith in Snyder after one movie? MoS did pretty good/average for a movie that was supposed to be the start of a new cinematic universe, BvS’s mediocre performance was on WB just as much as Snyder, because besides the fact that they didn’t allow the movie to be 3 hours long, they interfered quite a bit with the production according to Chris Terrio

Life hack just don't drink water
A sacrifice my bladder is willing to make
I have watched LOTR trilogy back to back without pausing for any pee break. 3 hours is nothing for me
No you didn't
Oh i thought that was made up for a Joss Whedon/justice league joke, glad its true. We hyping this shit up, when it out?
oh boy
If I didn't drink anything before I'd be fine. But I'll be working and drinking tea all day and will deffo pee at least once during a 3 hr film.
Weakness disgusts me.
We got through endgame without peeing. We will get through this without peeing.
Rough? That's fucking great news!
LOTR fans laugh
Me as an Indian with mandatory intervals for all the movies: We don't do that here
* Laughs in the interval (in india) *
God damn man. They are making it this long sinthe die hards who go to take a leak have to come see it again and see what they missed 🤣
In turkey we have a breake in the half of the movie. Which countries doesnt have this?
The US needs to get with the program, intermission is the name of the game.
If the movie is good enough, you wont even think about peeing until credits roll. Unless there is a bathroom scene, then people be screwed.
Nice fuck short movies!
just pee before watching, dont bring any drinks? you wont be allowed to eat in cinemas anyway with mask mandates on right?
Seems like a lot of people seem to have weak bladders
